00:21The event began with a community walkabout through the town centre
00:25during which Lord Hanson of Flint joined members of Wirral's local police
00:29racing team and community safety partners on the beat.
00:33The group then paid a visit to Future Yard, a community music venue and creative hub
00:38which has been funded through the PCC and Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnerships
00:43Youth Empowerment Scheme to help provide positive opportunities for young people in the area
00:49helping to prevent crime and build brighter futures.
00:53Through the Young Futures programme, Future Yard are providing vulnerable young people
00:57with access to free music-making skills and training sessions
01:01as well as high-quality artist-led tuition.
01:04Through mentoring, artist development and the opportunity to perform live in the venue's performance spaces
01:10in front of up to 700 people,
01:12talented young people on Wirral are being supported to build a career in the music industry.
01:17The visit included a tour of Future Yard's facilities,
01:20meeting some of the young people
01:22as well as discussions with those involved in the project.
01:26During the visit, Lord Hanson, who was born and went to school in Liverpool,
01:30was also briefed on the results from the first month of Safer Street Summer on the Wirral.
01:35This included six coordinated action days,
01:39deployment of mobile police stations
01:40and a number of trading standard operations.
