00:00We are Kyle and Abby and we are part of Thrive and we're just here in Otley with our new
00:07run club and we're just looking to cause some beautiful chaos, helping people to really become their very best selves
00:15and be part of a community that allows inclusivity of all levels when it comes to running and we basically
00:21include training, nutrition, mindset and lifestyle as our principles to help people to become their very best selves.
00:27I deal with like the mindset side of things which has been really great really because since starting this run
00:33club it's been really evident that a lot of people don't want to start something like that because oh I'm
00:38too slow, I'm too this, I'm too that, oh I could never run. We had a lot of that in
00:42response to starting this run club but it's been really great to see people actually show up and prove to
00:47themselves that they can.
00:48My journey since way back being a personal trainer and getting into bodybuilding, competing abroad in America and very much
00:57a solo sport with you know fulfillment and trying to drive the best out of myself has been very important.
01:02So then I can help other people and then getting into powerlifting and just different realms of training, different disciplines
01:10has allowed me to really see what I can do and then also think okay I want people to feel
01:17what I've felt in those individual kind of sports and areas of expertise.
01:21I've felt what I believe has been a feeling of thriving and it's one of those now where it's like
01:28I just feel so much better where I can thrive and I feel you can thrive when we help other
01:34people to thrive together. I know it sounds cheesy.
01:36To see someone who comes to me doubting themselves or saying I can't do it or you know worrying about
01:42how slow they are in relation to running or just coming from a place where they've been really struggling with
01:49something whether that is body confidence or whatever it is, it's really rewarding to help that person develop and grow
01:57and take it step by step.
01:58Like I give them like small little targets and watch them hit each target slowly and then just that development
02:05and seeing them message me going oh I did it or I hit my PB or you know just anything
02:11like that. It's just the most rewarding thing ever.
02:13I've known Kyle for a long time, went to school together and stuff like that so when I saw that
02:17he set this club up I thought I might as well support him. So yeah I've really really enjoyed it.
02:22I'm not really from a running background but I thought I don't want to join a running club but I
02:26thought actually I'll support him when he's trying to set up a community for people to do a bit of
02:29running and yeah it's a really good sort of mixed group of people, good fun on a Sunday morning and
02:34it gets me out of the house.
02:35A lot of people think oh Potley's quite hilly and you know I'm not going to say to anyone who
02:39comes here oh we're going to do East Shevin Road or Leeds Road and we're going uphill straight away we're
02:43going to do the Leeds half marathon route and do all that sort of stuff.
02:46No there's a lot of beautiful scenery a lot of flat terrain and a lot of routes that are quite
02:51you know accessible for most people of all levels as well.
02:54You don't have to be great to start but you always have to start to be great there you go.
