00:02Paul, a fifth successive league win coming from behind with three second half goals to beat Yate 3-1, thoughts
00:07on that?
00:08Yeah, I thought it was a bit of a tough evening, you know, Yate come here and they worked hard
00:13and sort of sat behind the ball.
00:14And yeah, it was a tough evening at times, but it was one that was controlled to be in the
00:19end.
00:20They didn't, you know, they frustrated, but you didn't sort of panic at all, did you, you know, you kept
00:25the composure and obviously in the second half got the awards.
00:28Yeah, you could see it first half, we weren't really quite at it, weren't doing what was asked of them
00:33and sort of, you know, we was failing at certain things.
00:37And yeah, it was a scruffy goal that got them in front and most of them, you know, deservedly through
00:42their work ethic and, you know, winning the first ball, second ball, we weren't quite at it.
00:46But you could see we had the quality in there and it was waiting to tick and yeah, they come
00:50out second half and turned it on.
00:52Yeah, and obviously the way they were frustrated when they get that goal, it obviously gave them something to hold
00:56on to, didn't it?
00:57But as I say, you really came out in that second half. So what was the message at halftime?
01:01Yeah, you know, the first half really sort of raised my voice at them for a long time in terms
01:06of what I wanted.
01:07Sort of got ignored in the first half and we wasted, we wasted good opportunities through what I wanted.
01:14And, you know, told them to put it right and, you know, this half of football's on them.
01:18You know, it's about how much they want it and how much they want to compete at the top.
01:21And, you know, they proved it.
01:25Yeah, I mean, and also, you know, sort of how good and consistent the group's been that you haven't had
01:29to really lose it with them.
01:30But obviously, if you sort of do at halftime, that's a perfect response, isn't it?
01:34It is a perfect response, you know, but I picked a couple out as well.
01:37And they could have quite easily, you know, turned around to us and sort of stuck their finger up.
01:41But, you know, they dug in and they didn't prove me wrong because I know what good players they are.
01:46But they knew, you know, they were going there and having a chat in a minute and they know themselves
01:50from the first half to the second half.
01:52They know I proved them right.
01:54And it was a real quick start to the second half, you know, three minutes in, you get the equaliser
01:57through Daz.
01:58And it was a real nice goal and sort of cooks with the ball, Lid's driving in and then helping
02:02it on to Bob and Daz tucking it in.
02:04Yeah, it was a bit of a scrappy start, you know, first three, five minutes to the half.
02:08You know, they made sure they had the little bit better, the bounces were falling their way.
02:11But Lid showed great feet in front of us in the dugout and drove forward with a ball.
02:15And, you know, even that was a little bit of scruffy.
02:17We made hard work of what should have been a comfortable finish.
02:20But, yeah, credit to Daz, you know, he's composed and he would never be flustered and, you know, just fold
02:24it in.
02:24Yeah, when that sort of final ball got to him, he then sort of had to just be composed and
02:28chop back in, didn't he?
02:29Yeah, chop back in and chop the shoulder again and, yeah, just rolled it in.
02:33But, you know, that's what Daz is all about.
02:34He's not going to panic in those situations.
02:36Yeah. And then sort of got the equaliser, obviously, you know, you've got the quality, you had the momentum
02:40and you just sort of kept pushing in, really, didn't you?
02:42And then, obviously, go ahead.
02:44Brandon stands up a really nice cross and Owen Dean, so he's got that leap in him, hasn't he?
02:48He's got to feel like that where he gets up and then just nods it in.
02:51He has, yeah.
02:51You know, that's what was frustrating in the first half.
02:53We didn't work that right-hand side with Owen airily, which was frustrating.
02:57But, you know, we spoke about it in recent weeks of certain areas we get in,
03:02what ball we play and where Owen Dean is in the box.
03:04And when Owen Dean's at the back place, it's sad to be stood up.
03:07And, yeah, it's a great Owen Dean goal.
03:09Sort of a typical Owen Dean goal, really, isn't it?
03:11It is, yeah.
03:13And then sort of managed it.
03:14Yeat never really sort of, you know, created anything, really, did they never really look like it?
03:18And Mike didn't have anything to do there, really, did he?
03:20No, not really.
03:21It's sort of, you know, they was looking for a long ball in the end and a scrap
03:24and maybe a bounce or a bobble, which can always happen at, you know, 2-1.
03:27But I thought we defended really well second half and we shored it up with three in there.
03:32And, yeah, we soaked everything up.
03:34And, yeah, the third one was the icing on the cake.
03:37Yeah, and obviously, yeah, just in stoppage time there,
03:39he sort of, Owen Dean reads the back pass header, doesn't he?
03:42Nips in and then slots it home.
03:43Yeah, again, typical Owen Dean goal, never gives anything up, chase something,
03:46you know, he had no right to win.
03:48And, yeah, got his reward tonight.
03:49I thought he was, you know, I thought he was really good tonight.
03:52Matt McKenzie, was he injured at all?
03:55Because obviously he went down a couple of minutes before he went off, didn't he?
03:59Yeah, his shoulder popped out.
04:01He's got a shoulder issue.
04:02And, yeah, it popped out.
04:03He popped it back in and do we risk him or not?
04:06And then, you know, tactically, you know, their players tried pulling his arm
04:10and we thought, you know, to take him off the squad's good enough
04:14and I'm confident in the squad seeing it through.
04:16And, yeah, we precaution.
04:18Yeah, if their players sort of playing on it and trying to pull out the arm,
04:22it's not really worth the risk, is it?
04:23Not really, no, it's pretty poor.
04:24But, you know, it's part of football, I suppose, at some stage.
04:27Yeah, and I'd say five successive wins, you know, real momentum at the moment.
04:30Obviously, tonight was one of the games in hand.
04:32So, it sort of cements in the playoffs even more
04:34and you can sort of keep pushing and looking up, really, can't you?
04:37It's a real good place at the moment.
04:38It is, yeah.
04:39You know, we say, you know, it's a good part of the season.
04:41This is the bit that you want to be involved in
04:43and it's what you play football for, competing at the top.
04:45And, you know, we've still got our sights set on chasing more and down.
04:48You know, it's win at all costs and, you know, football sort of goes out the window to an extent
04:53and it's about how much heart and desire you've got to try and compete at the top
04:57and the boys are showing it at the minute.
04:59Yeah, and so if you keep winning your games in hand, you would go second
05:03and obviously, you've got Walton to play still.
05:05So, it's still very much sort of there to play for, really, isn't it?
05:08It is, yeah.
05:09You know, it's a big ask.
05:11But it's two games a week for eight weeks with no cancellations
05:14and, you know, the boys are fit and in a good space to really push for it.
05:20Yeah, so the game's going to keep coming thick and fast up there Tuesday
05:22for those next eight weeks.
05:24But it's a run of home games at the moment, isn't it?
05:26Three home games.
05:27Yeah.
05:28So, you keep building the momentum here on Saturday.
05:31It is, yeah.
05:32We've got to make the most of these home games and, you know,
05:35maybe last year's a bit of a stumbling block here with the low blocks coming here.
05:38But this year, we've been good here and, yeah, long might continue.
