00:00Pahang's religious council has dismissed allegations that a university student who
00:05was charged earlier today with defiling a Quran had converted to Islam, as claimed by
00:10an independent preacher. The Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council Deputy
00:15CEO, Asmadi Abdurrahman, said he found no record that S. Figneswaran was a convert,
00:21Berita Harian reported. Asmadi, who was also Pahang's chief registrar of converts,
00:26said the council contacted independent preacher Firdaus Wang, who had made the claim, to clarify
00:31the allegation but had not yet received a response. Firdaus, however, defended his earlier claim and
00:38uploaded a series of screenshots as proof. In a Facebook post, Firdaus said that one
00:43Ryan Vigneswaran had been in touch with him on June 19, 2024. Firdaus said Vigneswaran informed
00:49him on November 13, 2024 that he was ready to convert. Vigneswaran purportedly contacted him
00:55on April 20, 2025, asking Firdaus to witness him taking his Shahada for a second time.
01:01Vigneswaran, a University Malaysia Pahang al-Sultan Abdullah student,
