00:22Sabri said the guidelines will help protect harmony not only among the Muslims but also

00:27the non-Muslims so that they will be cautious and maintain their sense of respect, according

00:32to Sinar Harian.

00:34Sabri said while he believes the guidelines have merit, he is not sure what the upcoming

00:39National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs meeting will decide on the matter.

00:45He said after the meeting, the guidelines will be brought to the Conference of Rulers

00:49for approval.

00:51The Mufti's defence of the guidelines comes after the Sultan of Selangor expressed his

00:55disapproval over the proposed guidelines, saying the Quran and Sunnah already provide

01:01the best guidelines for Muslims.

01:04Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also said the controversial guidelines are unnecessary and

01:09will only cause anxiety.
