00:01:15Today they took on Chelsea, and Jonathan Pearce was at the Emirates.

00:11:16The moment that we conceded the goal in the manner of it is disappointing.

00:11:20But then we had the whole second half to play.

00:11:21And we had some good moments.

00:11:23I scored the goal.

00:11:24And then we had some difficult moments even though against ten men when we should have kept the ball much

00:11:30better and play much more.

00:11:32Like the other 18 minutes that we were playing the game.

00:11:34We had three goals and set pieces today.

00:11:36It was tough to defend but I think everyone knows we're good at attacking as well.

00:11:42The delivery of Dillac was amazing and I think the opportunity was there and I took it.

00:11:47Tactically, technically it was a very, very good team performance but it's been let down by not managing moments.

00:11:52Same as Burnley, same as Leeds.

00:11:54And if we perform to that level consistently we will win games.

00:11:58But if we just keep gifting goals away and not switching on in moments then we won't achieve what we

00:12:03want to.

00:12:03Nine sendings off this season, that's not good is it?

00:12:06That's something I felt we'd addressed. We've gone, we went ten games without a red card, now two in two

00:12:10games.

00:12:11And that's a problem we need to solve and the set play issue is something we need to keep working

00:12:15on.

00:12:15The attitude that they are showing, the willingness to go for it and be very dominant I'm very impressed with.

00:12:22Just showed that they really focused on getting across the finish line.

00:12:25Yeah, and living the present and enjoying what we are living.

00:12:28We are in March, we are in every competition, we are right up there and that's what we won.

00:12:33Really big win for Arsenal against Chelsea but it wasn't a comfortable win necessarily for them.

00:12:39And Mikel Arteta had been saying that this is the kind of game where those set pieces that we've talked

00:12:44about with Arsenal all season were really, really important.

00:12:47When a game is, is this tight?

00:12:49Yeah, I mean, how often are we going to say about Arsenal that when the games are tight they ended

00:12:53up winning with a set piece?

00:12:55Chelsea were pretty impressive today, 59% possession, they tried to control the game for large parts.

00:13:00But ultimately, if you've got this armory that Arsenal have, if you can score and make the difference from set

00:13:05pieces, then you take that opportunity.

00:13:07And that was the case again for Chelsea, for Arsenal today.

00:13:11Chelsea, for the majority, it was such a game of grapples and holding people all over the place.

00:13:16Just the one person at the bottom, Rhys James, is marking Gabriel.

00:13:19He's not tight, he takes his eye off the ball, he's looking at Gabriel.

00:13:23Now he looks at the ball and in that moment, that's the last time he looks at the ball in

00:13:27this passage.

00:13:27But in that moment, Gabriel's set off, now he's got a problem.

00:13:30He doesn't know where the ball is, he doesn't know when the adjustment needs to be made.

00:13:34Arsenal have been great, they've run everybody across to create this 1v1 moment.

00:13:38And Rhys James is so flat-footed because he hasn't got a clue where the ball is.

00:13:42Gabriel on the move, Arsenal know exactly where that ball's going.

00:13:45And in that moment, six Chelsea players are taken out of the situation.

00:13:49Each Arsenal player is now on the right side of the defender.

00:13:52So, once Gabriel wins that ball over the health of João Pedro,

00:13:56he could do nothing about it.

00:13:57Each of those Arsenal players are in a position.

00:13:59As Gabriel heads it back across, it's Saliba that gets it.

00:14:02It could have been Jokeres, he was in just as good a position as well.

00:14:05And Chelsea could do nothing about it.

00:14:08So, is it going to be the same pattern?

00:14:10Rhys James tries to mark Gabriel a little bit differently on this occasion,

00:14:13but now we've got space for others.

00:14:15Sarp does exactly the same defensively as his captain did earlier.

00:14:19Takes his eye completely off the ball, only notices it when it's far too late.

00:14:23Timber's got the march on him, gets in there first.

00:14:27Really good delivery yet again.

00:14:29Really good header because Sarp can't do anything because he's not looking at the ball.

00:14:33And for anyone who was questioning whether it was a foul on the Chelsea goalkeeper,

00:14:37I think we can see quite clearly it wasn't.

00:14:40Sanchez caused an awful lot of issue asking for that foul.

00:14:44It wasn't, but he doesn't care because the team worked on it, his team were impressive.

00:14:48And in another game of five margins, that is the difference.

00:14:51And that is now the most winning goals from corners in Premier League history for Arsenal.

00:14:55In a single Premier League season, and obviously we're still at the first of March.

00:14:59That is a long time for Arsenal to add to that total.

00:15:02You talked about the complaints after that goal because Sanchez was saying that he'd been fouled in the build-up

00:15:09to it.

00:15:10That was the first of the yellow cards that were awarded to Chelsea that led to the red card.

00:15:16But this is a problem for them in terms of not keeping all 11 players on the pitch.

00:15:23Because seven, they're clear of Everton in second place in terms of the most red cards in the Premier League

00:15:29this season.

00:15:29Yeah, and in those games, three of those matches, they were winning and went on to lose.

00:15:34One of the games, they were winning and went on to draw.

00:15:36So it is becoming a problem. It is really affecting the games.

00:15:39And Sanchez's passion about thinking he's been fouled leads the rest of the team to really believe him.

00:15:44And despite Rhys James trying to keep his team away,

00:15:48He gets in the referee's face and picks up that yellow card.

00:15:54And once you've done it, you cannot follow it up with a tackle like that, Joe.

00:15:57It's just ludicrous.

00:15:58Yeah, because he's been skinned there, not a problem.

00:16:00He just leaves his foot and it's just ill-disciplined.

00:16:03That's two minutes after he gives the referee absolutely no choice whatsoever.

00:16:07And Chelsea were in this game. It was a really good battle at the Emirates today.

00:16:10But you've got one hand behind your back when you go down to ten men yet again.

00:16:13Yeah, in those seven games, three of those matches they were winning or drawing at the time at the red

00:16:18card went on to lose.

00:16:19They were also winning against Burnley and then went on to draw that game.

00:16:22And when you look at that, not just compared to the rest of the table,

00:16:25but compared to what they will see as their direct competitors,

00:16:28the teams who are currently in the top six, that's where the difference is most stark for Chelsea.

00:16:35The other thing that was a major factor in this game was the continued excellent form of David Raya

00:16:41and making big saves in big moments in this game.

00:16:46Is it because he's just naturally better?

00:16:49Look, the standard in the Premier League is frightening.

00:16:52Every single one of those goalkeepers is capable of the saves that I'm just about to show you right now.

00:16:56But what I love about David Raya is he's so disciplined, he's so meticulous

00:17:01and his willingness to be in the right position at the right time and make the big saves when he

00:17:05comes to it.

00:17:05It's just a combination of all the hard work.

00:17:08Trust me that he's doing every single day on the training ground and today was no different.

00:17:12It was another really impressive performance from him.

00:17:16So when you talk about his focus, just guide me to what we're looking for from Raya.

00:17:21So I'm talking about here. This looks like he's just made a save out of nowhere.

00:17:25Look, your eyes go to Declan Rice and Hato. That was a different conversation.

00:17:28I'm not going to have it right now. I'm going to look at David Raya.

00:17:30Look at him involved in this absolute melee. Arsenal players, Chelsea players.
