00:00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:01:00One who completes a hat-trick of shows today after football focus and final score.
00:01:03So today, he's not doubling, he's tripling.
00:01:07We're going to begin with Liverpool leads.
00:01:10But there is breaking news tonight on the future of Mohamed Salah.
00:01:13He started on the bench for the third game in a row.
00:01:16And then in a post-match interview, Salah said the club had thrown him under the bus
00:01:20and that he has no relationship with manager Arnaz Slott.
00:01:23More on that to come. Guy Mowbrie was watching the match at Elland Road.
00:01:27The atmosphere here this season will have taken many Leeds fans back
00:01:33to those heady days at the turn of the century.
00:01:36And it reached a glorious peak for them in Wednesday's 3-1 win over old foes Chelsea.
00:01:42Two changes to the Leeds team from then.
00:01:45With Ilya Gruev back in and replacing Ayo Tanaka, he's on the bench.
00:01:48And with Noah Okafor coming in for Lucas Mecha, ruled out with a hamstring problem.
00:01:53For Liverpool, four changes from their midweek draw at home to Sunderland.
00:01:57Both full-backs have changed.
00:01:59Connor Bradley comes back from injury to start on the right.
00:02:01Milos Kerkas is back in on the left.
00:02:04In midfield, Curtis Jones is preferred to Alexis McAllister.
00:02:07And up front, the striker switch.
00:02:09Ugo Eketike's turn to start.
00:02:11Alexander Isak on the bench.
00:02:12Where we also find Mohamed Salah for a third game in a row.
00:02:19It's hard to believe that the famous Viduka match was a quarter of a century ago.
00:02:31Might be something on for Leeds here.
00:02:32There is, and it's not far wide.
00:02:36Okafor with an early opportunity.
00:02:38He sat up pretty nicely for Okafor.
00:02:42He didn't connect as he would have liked to have done.
00:02:45And the pouring West Yorkshire rain.
00:02:48Leeds are up for it once again.
00:02:51Gakpo demanding the ball on the left.
00:02:53It's Jones first.
00:02:54Now Cody Gakpo.
00:02:56Jones.
00:02:58Jones going for it!
00:02:59Oh, I thought it was in.
00:03:01It looked as though it was just going to dip under that crossbar.
00:03:04Or maybe just touch it on its way down and in.
00:03:06Just a fraction away from the opener.
00:03:09What a good opener it would have been.
00:03:13It was a no-nonsense settle, and then some.
00:03:16And it's going to result in a yellow card for Gabriel Goodmanson.
00:03:20Proper Leedsby Liverpool tackle, wasn't it, though?
00:03:24Coming back to Billy Bremner.
00:03:25Norman Hunter with that one.
00:03:28It's a brush line.
00:03:29Van Dijk over the top.
00:03:30Got in nicely to attack it.
00:03:36There's a collision afterwards.
00:03:38Once Van Dijk had propelled the ball over the crossbar.
00:03:42And last time Liverpool were here in April of 2023, they scored six.
00:03:47Quite poignantly, Diogo Jota played a starring role for Liverpool that day
00:03:50as they ended a run of five games without a win.
00:03:52Jota would have been 29 on Thursday.
00:03:56That slack.
00:03:57And Ekotike's onto the ball.
00:03:58What a chance this is.
00:04:00And he's taken it.
00:04:03Liverpool in front.
00:04:05Leeds caused their own mess.
00:04:07And Ekotike stayed calm.
00:04:10And the patience was followed by a moment of precision.
00:04:15A rare error made by Leeds United's Joe Rodon.
00:04:20Misplaced pass.
00:04:22Too quick with it, too casual with it.
00:04:25And then it was over to Ekotike.
00:04:27Ekotike ends a run of eight appearances without a goal
00:04:30by scoring his seventh as a Liverpool play.
00:04:35Ekotike's off again.
00:04:36Touching the ball ahead of Beal and then flinging himself to the floor.
00:04:40That's how it looked.
00:04:41And Anthony Taylor has a chat with Gary Bezik, the assistant.
00:04:45Thinks about giving something.
00:04:49As Liverpool steal possession back very quickly again with Bradley.
00:04:52And Ekotike's there.
00:04:53And he's put that one in as well.
00:04:56Just as VAL were about to chip in saying,
00:04:59checking possible penalty.
00:05:01Liverpool go 2-0 up.
00:05:04Ekotike with two.
00:05:06Quick-fire goals.
00:05:08Puts Liverpool in complete control at Elland Road.
00:05:12And it looked to me as though Ekotike was cleanly there first to poke it in.
00:05:17Lucas Perry was a little flat-footed.
00:05:19He was reaching for it rather than going for it.
00:05:23Well, there was a lot to sort out in that.
00:05:24But the key point seemed to be that Ekotike may have been in front of the Leeds defenders,
00:05:29but he was behind the ball.
00:05:30Here's Ekotike.
00:05:37It's a boss lie.
00:05:39Ekotike waits for it.
00:05:41And then helps it on to Cody Gakpo,
00:05:43who's in on goal.
00:05:44And he's saved by Lucas Perry.
00:05:46That's a good stretch and a big hand.
00:05:49Three and it's done.
00:05:50So it's a really important bit of goalkeeping.
00:05:58Goodmanson.
00:05:58Nyonto stack.
00:06:07Willy Nyonto once more.
00:06:11Nyonto goes down as Canate slides in and Leeds are adamant it should be a penalty.
00:06:16What is it going to be?
00:06:17Anthony Taylor hasn't made any decision yet.
00:06:21VAR are saying they're checking it.
00:06:23He looked at first as though it maybe should have been a goal kick if it's not a foul.
00:06:29But then I think there is a touch from Canate at the end.
00:06:32The question is, has he fouled Nyonto?
00:06:34That's really the only thing that matters.
00:06:37The word from John Brooks in VAR is that the ball was in play at point of contact.
00:06:43There might be a way back for them.
00:06:45Liverpool 5 makes a careless challenge.
00:06:50The ball was in play there for my final decision, his penalty kick.
00:06:56I've heard goals cheered with less enthusiasm than that.
00:07:00Now it's over to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
00:07:03He has to score this.
00:07:07And Calvert-Lewin does.
00:07:11Leeds half the gap.
00:07:13Calvert-Lewin scores for a third game in a row.
00:07:16And it's 2-1.
00:07:18And game on.
00:07:19And Ellendrode.
00:07:21Frenzied feel to the occasion now.
00:07:23And the wind is with Leeds now.
00:07:33Aronson.
00:07:36Nyonto.
00:07:37Nice combo between the pair.
00:07:40Aronson in now to Stack.
00:07:42Stack in on goal!
00:07:43Goal!
00:07:43There is always life in Leeds.
00:07:55Liverpool's lead wiped out almost as quickly as they made it happen.
00:08:00The Premier League champions are crumbling here.
00:08:05Leeds are riding the wave.
00:08:09The wave of sound.
00:08:12It's Leeds 2, Liverpool 2.
00:08:14And it's a second half that has just erupted.
00:08:25Gravenberg.
00:08:28He's been chopped.
00:08:29It's going to be a Liverpool free kick.
00:08:30That's a good chance.
00:08:39Oh, great save, Lucas Perry.
00:08:41Van Dijk mightily close for 3-2.
00:08:46Tsunaka flicks that one away.
00:08:51Lucas Perry's made some big saves.
00:08:54Clawing that one away.
00:08:55Just when it looked as though Van Dijk had got just the right amount of power to beat him.
00:09:03Here's Gravenberg.
00:09:05Played through and allowed to run through to Suboslay!
00:09:08Oh, that's coolly done.
00:09:10Brilliantly finished by Dominic Suboslay.
00:09:14That's calmed down the frenzy.
00:09:17The scenes of joy now are from the Liverpool supporters.
00:09:21Suboslay has restored order for them.
00:09:23Allowed to run just superbly by McAllister.
00:09:29Must have been instinctive.
00:09:30There's no way he could have heard a shout from Dominic Suboslay amidst this atmosphere.
00:09:36But he knew he was there.
00:09:38And Suboslay, well, he made that look like it was a training ground exercise.
00:09:43He's passed it into the net.
00:09:45And Liverpool have a 3-2 advantage.
00:09:49Stack.
00:09:51Nyonto.
00:09:53Another corner courtesy of Kerkis.
00:10:01And it comes from Stack.
00:10:03Allison stays back.
00:10:05And it's Tanaka!
00:10:13Leeds have done it again.
00:10:15Second time they've rescued this game.
00:10:19Second time in a week that he's scored for them.
00:10:21And if this is to be one point, it will feel every bit as big as the three that they've got against Chelsea.
00:10:31Arneslot will not be happy about Liverpool's defending or lack of it from the corner.
00:10:36Tanaka is there to bundle it home.
00:10:39Tight angle, tight angle, no bother.
00:10:42Look at Arneslot's reaction.
00:10:44That tells the story.
00:10:46Leeds 3, Liverpool 3.
00:10:48And it's Arneslot!
00:10:51It's Arneslot!
00:10:53That's...
00:10:54It's Arneslot!
00:10:58So, so close.
00:11:01Lovely cross into him.
00:11:04Just trying to direct it.
00:11:06Needed a bit more on it.
00:11:07When you come to Ellen Road to watch football, you ride a rollercoaster.
00:11:150-0 at halftime, 3-3 by the finish.
00:11:20For Leeds, it will feel like a massive point gained in their quest to remain in the top flight at the end of the season.
00:11:27For Liverpool, once more, it will feel like one that got away.
00:11:32Leeds United 3, Liverpool 3.
00:11:34We know that we are not the side, we have the best individual quality in this league,
00:11:40but our tactical approach always has to be spot on.
00:11:43We have to invest everything, we need the best possible energy with the ball against the ball
00:11:48and also flexibility to adapt to different scenarios and the boys can be really, really proud.
00:11:53It seems to go out of control too quickly, how is that allowed to happen?
00:11:57Because we concede goals without the other team even having a chance.
00:12:00And we have to do so much to score because I think we had more moments where we could have scored.
00:12:09Yeah, we can only look at ourselves because we are the ones that are doing it.
00:12:13Is it a mental thing collectively with the team right now?
00:12:16Well, it's not easy when you don't win for a long time, you know.
00:12:20Of course, I think in this club we are not used to that.
00:12:24The only way we can get out of here is together.
00:12:26You hit that goal, it makes it 2-2, the whole ground erupts, what does that feel like?
00:12:30Yeah, for me, completely goosebumps over the whole body, it's amazing.
00:12:35It was my first goal here at Ellen Ronde and it felt unbelievable.
00:12:39I think when you never score the goal, you can't imagine how it is.
00:12:45It's been a good week, day off now?
00:12:46Yes, I definitely need Sunday with coffee and cake on the sofa so our supporters can enjoy the week and celebrate a bit, have also perhaps a beer or a pint.
00:12:56I'm looking forward to have a quiet Sunday afternoon on the sofa.
00:13:00That cake is going to taste even sweeter.
00:13:03Watching your side come from behind, what a week it's been for Leeds United.
00:13:07It has been a great week and I thought they were brave today, second half, showed lots of quality.
00:13:11I thought Liverpool actually looked better going forward, they scored three goals away from home, good on the counter, got into the lead but their fragility and their vulnerabilities in the second half were there for us all to see again.
00:13:25Just disastrous really, bad decision making, mistakes and we're going to have a look at the goals now.
00:13:32This is the build-up to the penalty, 4v4, no problem, communicate, stay with your men, good talking, no danger.
00:13:39They switch off and they're in, there's an overload, OK, so Canate comes across, rightly so, and tries to usher him out of play, he's in the right position, stay on your feet.
00:13:50Why are you going to ground? Just crazy decision, penalty, all of a sudden Leeds have a goal, the fans are up, momentum's shifting and changing, they feel like they're in the game.
00:14:01Unfortunately, again, it's Canate, he seems to be in the middle of all of it in a moment.
00:14:06Stack breaks from midfield and when it comes into him, he's in a good position there, Canate, stay there and if it goes into him, nice and tight.
00:14:14He drops off, maybe that's recent events getting his head, he wants to protect the goal.
00:14:18Jones spots it, I thought Jones was really good today actually, but he flies in too quick and here, nine Liverpool players against five.
00:14:25There's not a lack of willingness to get back in, it's just a lack of communication, it's chaotic and disorganised.
00:14:30I mean, this one is the one that frustrated me, Dan, this is so easily avoided.
00:14:35Gravenberg at the far post, Tanaka's free, but from the next angle you can see Gravenberg can clear this one, there we go.
00:14:43Hands behind his back, just a pause there, number 38, you can see, all he's got to do is jump up and head the ball away.
00:14:48He just gets Calvert-Lewin, just in his eye line, decides to block Calvert-Lewin, takes his eye off the ball, the ball actually hits his hand so it could have been a penalty and Tanaka's there to put it in at the far post.
00:15:00If he had have played like he's played for the last two seasons, absolutely outstanding, he'd have cleared that, no goal at all.
00:15:07But it was a fantastic performance from Leeds, they won't care that Liverpool have defensive frailties that they were able to exploit, but as you said, it was a decent performance going forward.
00:15:16They've scored three goals in this game, scored a couple of goals against West Ham last week, scored one against Sunderland in midweek with Mohamed Salah on the pitch.
00:15:25However, in the aftermath of that game, it says that Mohamed Salah has been talking to Norwegian television and said,
00:15:37I think it's very clear that somebody wants me to take all the blame.
00:15:40I've said a few times before that I have a good relationship with the manager and now all of a sudden we have no relationship, I don't know why.
00:15:48It seems like the club are throwing me under the bus, that's how I feel.
00:15:51This club, I will always support it, my kids will always support it, I love the club so much and I always will.
00:15:57It, meaning the situation, is not acceptable to me, to be fair, I don't get it.
00:16:01It's like I'm being thrown more under the bus.
00:16:03I don't think I'm the problem.
00:16:05I've done so much for this club, I don't have to fight every day for my position because I earn it.
00:16:10I earned my position.
00:16:12There is a lot to unpack in all of that.
00:16:15Starting with the idea, let's maybe go backwards throughout it.
00:16:18The idea that Mohamed Salah doesn't need to earn his place because he's already earned it with the performances that he's put in historically over his time at the club.
00:16:26No, we know that's an emotional response and doesn't really stack up.
00:16:29Everyone has to keep fighting for the place and performing at a certain level.
00:16:32I don't think he's on his own.
00:16:33I think a lot of other big-name players are starting to get stick and get the fan base turn a little bit against them.
00:16:40Everyone's being judged.
00:16:42Look, I think...
00:16:42His point here is that he's the one who is the scapegoat.
00:16:46It's not true.
00:16:46Yeah.
00:16:47It's not true.
00:16:48I think you can be emotional and you can be angry and frustrated.
00:16:51He's done wonderful things for the football club.
00:16:53You have to keep it in the four walls of the club.
00:16:56Knock on the manager's door.
00:16:57Go and see the CEO, whoever it is.
00:16:59Go and see the owners.
00:17:00Do whatever you've got to do.
00:17:01Express your frustration.
00:17:03By doing what he's done, he's causing now the team a problem and the manager a problem.
00:17:08And he's making it all about him.
00:17:10And that's...
00:17:10You just can't do it.
00:17:11Whether you agree with him being left out or not, you don't deal with it like this.
00:17:15Do you think he is being thrown under the bus?
00:17:17Do you think he is being made a scapegoat for the team's failings this season?
00:17:22No, not at all.
00:17:22And I think Danny's right.
00:17:23I just think it's...
00:17:25We shouldn't know about this.
00:17:26We shouldn't even know about this.
00:17:28It should be in those four walls, as Danny said.
00:17:29However, I do believe the Diogo Jota situation has hit that football club incredibly hard.
00:17:37And those players, without them knowing how hard it's hit them, because he was so close
00:17:42to all of them.
00:17:43And I believe it's hit Salah possibly more than most.
00:17:47And that's the situation he probably can't get right mentally.
00:17:50That said, as a Liverpool player, it doesn't matter who you are, you've got to earn the
00:17:56right to play in the first 11.
00:17:58Inter Milan on Tuesday, Brighton at the weekend.
00:18:00He's told his family to come to the Brighton game because he said he wants to say goodbye,
00:18:05then added before he goes off to the Cup of Nations.
00:18:08So that's slightly ambiguous.
00:18:10But he does leave on the 15th of December.
00:18:12Will we see Mohamed Salah in a Liverpool shirt again, do you think?
00:18:15I do think we will, and I hope we do.
00:18:18I think he'll have time to settle down.
00:18:21The reality is, everybody would want a legend like Salah to go on good terms with a wonderful
00:18:27send-off, maybe at the end of the season, as great players have had in the past.
00:18:32I hope it doesn't end badly because of everything he's given, but there's always a chance if
00:18:36he's adamant.
00:18:37The reality is Liverpool Football Club are in charge of what happens, because they've got
00:18:41his contract.
00:18:41You know, he's signed the contract, but if he's adamant he wants to leave, then maybe
00:18:45we'll see something in January, but I hope not.
00:18:49Back to the action on the pitch, and Arsenal had the chance to move eight points clear at
00:18:54the top in the early game.
00:18:55In-form, Aston Villa had won eight of their last nine.
00:18:58Steve Wilson was at Villa Park.
00:19:02Arsenal were the only side to beat Villa here in the league last season.
00:19:05Doing so again won't be easy.
00:19:07After their poor start, Villa are in very good shape.
00:19:10In goal, Emi Martinez returns, having missed the mid-week win at Brighton.
00:19:15Oli Watkins trebled his season's goal tally in that game, and he has six in his career
00:19:20against the Gunners.
00:19:22With Saliba, Gabriel and Namoschera injured, Arsenal are short in the centre of defence.
00:19:27Durian Timber comes in, and Ben White plays in successive games for the first time this season.
00:19:32Aston Villa, one home defeat in 31.
00:19:37Arsenal, one defeat anywhere in 24.
00:19:43Martinez carefully for Rodgers, under a bit of pressure, he's lost the ball.
00:19:47Here's Martin Erdegaard for Arsenal.
00:19:49Dropped on it, Martinez.
00:19:53Villa lost possession in a dangerous position here.
00:19:57Saw it coming.
00:20:01This would be a massive win if Arsenal can succeed at Villa Park today.
00:20:07McGinn and Watkins, lovely feet, still Oli Watkins.
00:20:18Great save by David Reier.
00:20:21Watkins seemed to have done everything right, but he could not beat David Reier.
00:20:25Calafiore was taken out of this in the collision with John McGinn, who then was the man who delivered it into Watkins.
00:20:35That is a brilliant save.
00:20:41No foul, Timber, on Watkins.
00:20:44Erdegaard now leading the Arsenal counter.
00:20:46Saka, good position, good shot.
00:20:56Erdegaard for the rebound, Marino in the middle, Ezzet and Saka there too.
00:21:03White's cross, Saka's header.
00:21:06Offside anyway.
00:21:08Really good stuff from Arsenal this.
00:21:10A save Martinez would expect to make, it is pretty straight and true.
00:21:19Doesn't feel like this game is going to end goalless, does it?
00:21:24Arsenal have only failed to score in one game in all competitions this season.
00:21:28That was at Anfield.
00:21:31Erdegaard sneaked beautifully, it says it.
00:21:34Offside.
00:21:40Well, the flag went up immediately.
00:21:46And there weren't too many big Arsenal celebrations here.
00:21:59Intended for Erdegaard, picked off by Kamara.
00:22:03Lost by Watkins, only momentarily though.
00:22:05Tielemans to Kamara, Kamara to Rodgers.
00:22:08Tielemans, Watkins, McGinn and Cash all getting forward.
00:22:12This is Mati Cash.
00:22:14Good block by Rice.
00:22:17Well, it took the wind out of Declan Rice, but it was a block he absolutely had to make.
00:22:23Cash hit it well onto the rib of Declan Rice.
00:22:28Now Torres for Aston Villa, into the last ten minutes of this absorbing first half.
00:22:44Torres cross.
00:22:45And Cash around the back scores!
00:22:47Arsenal completely lost Mati Cash.
00:22:59And he drills Aston Villa in front.
00:23:03How did Cash find so much room?
00:23:08It's a really good finish.
00:23:09Here's Saka.
00:23:18Here's Saka.
00:23:23She kick Arsenal.
00:23:26It's White.
00:23:29Erdegaard.
00:23:29Leandro Trossard right across the face.
00:23:35Well, that's a real opportunity.
00:23:38Difficult.
00:23:39Off target.
00:23:47Saka for Arsenal.
00:23:49Erdegaard.
00:23:50Jokhreshin.
00:23:51Trossard arriving.
00:23:53It's Bukayo Saka.
00:23:55Consul with a touch.
00:23:56And Trossard with the goal.
00:23:59And it's been coming since half-time.
00:24:01Leandro Trossard's made an enormous difference.
00:24:05And he scores the goal that levels it up.
00:24:08Villa 1, Arsenal 1.
00:24:10Erdegaard into Saka.
00:24:12Clearly onside.
00:24:14And Emi Martinez with a touch.
00:24:17Which wasn't enough to divert it away from Leandro Trossard.
00:24:22And Arsenal are level.
00:24:26And the Spaniards on the pitch and in the dugout.
00:24:30And we'll be very pleased to be able to perform in front of that man.
00:24:33The great Real Madrid and Spain striker.
00:24:36Raúl is here today.
00:24:39He knew where the goal was.
00:24:43Block to Watkins.
00:24:46Tielemans for Rodgers.
00:24:47Morgan Rodgers here for Aston Villa.
00:24:51Finding Oli Watkins.
00:24:53Rodgers arriving in the box.
00:24:55Watkins.
00:24:56Watkins!
00:24:56Pushed out by David Raya.
00:24:58Good save.
00:25:00Well, that's maybe Oli Watkins' best effort yet.
00:25:03Good save by David Raya.
00:25:04Here's Erdegaard.
00:25:21Erdegaard.
00:25:21There's a shot on if he wants it.
00:25:23He does!
00:25:23It's a corner.
00:25:27Well, if I could tell he was going to shoot, so could Emi Martinez.
00:25:30And he made a really good save here.
00:25:33Fingertip.
00:25:35Just might have hit the crossbar rather than the net.
00:25:38It's a super effort.
00:25:39Get a pace on that toward Califiori.
00:25:43And Saka.
00:25:45Oh, that was heading in.
00:25:47Great block by Bubakar Kamara.
00:25:49That was a terrific effort.
00:25:51Well, this is a really important block.
00:25:53It's a fantastic effort by Saka.
00:25:56And that is going in, but for Bubakar Kamara.
00:26:06Califiori's made an error.
00:26:07It's got Rodgers.
00:26:08And Marlon!
00:26:09No!
00:26:12Well, this is such a good opportunity.
00:26:16Rodgers sneaking it into Daniel Marlon.
00:26:19Who pulls it across David Raya and wide.
00:26:29And Martsen.
00:26:31Sancho.
00:26:33Martsen in behind White.
00:26:35Oh, deflected right across goal by Durian Timber.
00:26:39Any more on that, it was in his own neck.
00:26:44A little tittle more and Villa would have been in front.
00:26:47And Jack in the box tonight.
00:26:48Emery couldn't believe it.
00:26:51Gabriel Martinelli.
00:26:59Timber.
00:26:59That's not a bad-looking ball at all.
00:27:06Declan Weiss has it, delivers it early.
00:27:09Madweke, side netting.
00:27:12Not easy.
00:27:14The angle wasn't that promising for Nony Madweke.
00:27:18Can Aston Villa win it?
00:27:20Jadon Sancho.
00:27:22Emiliano Buendia-Ordegaard took it off his toe.
00:27:25Lindelof for Tielemans.
00:27:28Camera.
00:27:30Rodgers.
00:27:31Marlon.
00:27:32And Katia on his shoulder.
00:27:33Daniel Marlon.
00:27:35Rodgers cross.
00:27:36And Sancho!
00:27:37And Tielemans!
00:27:38And Buendia denied.
00:27:41And camera.
00:27:42Blocked by White.
00:27:43Camera.
00:27:44Buendia!
00:27:47Absolute bedlam at Villa Park.
00:27:52Emiliano Buendia.
00:27:56An incredible climax.
00:28:01Astonishing.
00:28:02It was chaos inside the penalty area.
00:28:06Until it fell back to Emiliano Buendia.
00:28:10Video assistant referee Darren England has picked the bones out of the chaos in the penalty area.
00:28:17And the goal stands.
00:28:20And Aston Villa have beaten the league leaders.
00:28:23And are now within three points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.
00:28:29And Arsenal's 18-match unbeaten run has come to an end at Villa Park.
00:28:36I mean, many congratulations.
00:28:38What a fantastic way to win a football match.
00:28:41Yes, incredible.
00:28:42I think the feeling to score that goal, to help the team to get the win.
00:28:47Such an important win against the leader of the table.
00:28:50So, it's really important.
00:28:52Obviously, really, really proud to help the team to score that goal.
00:28:57So, I'm very happy.
00:28:58We are learning about how we can manage 90 minutes.
00:29:04Sometimes we are dominated.
00:29:05Sometimes not.
00:29:07It depends on the opponent we are facing.
00:29:09Today, of course, we needed to be resilient, like we are doing usually.
00:29:14And then, our momentum to try to believe.
00:29:17And I think the players, they respond fantastic.
00:29:19And they were, at the last minute, showing their wishes to win this match.
00:29:24We go into every game with the mentality to win the football game.
00:29:30And, yeah, we didn't do it today.
00:29:32But we just have to keep that.
00:29:35And then, yeah, of course, look at what we can do better for the next game.
00:29:39And go from there.
00:29:41Congratulations to Villa.
00:29:41They are a really, really good side.
00:29:44In the second half, we started much more aggressive, scored the goal, and had the feeling that we're going to go and win the game.
00:29:49To lose it in the last stage of the game, the manner that we did it, it is painful, but it's football.
00:29:5618 games I'm beating.
00:29:58You lose a game.
00:29:59I have to go back and start again.
00:30:00And it does hurt for Arsenal and will hurt that defeat by Aston Villa.
00:30:05But they were able to unlock Arsenal in a way that we haven't really seen so far this season.
00:30:10How did they do it, Danny?
00:30:11Well, Unai Emery deserves a lot of credit.
00:30:13He tweaked it again for midweek.
00:30:15He played Tielemans as a 10.
00:30:16And he let Rodgers play on the left.
00:30:18But he let him drift inside as well and double up in that 10 area.
00:30:22We'll see this as an example.
00:30:24It was a good game, by the way.
00:30:25Two good teams going toe for toe.
00:30:27Zubamendi's occupied by Tielemans.
00:30:29Rodgers has drifted in off that left.
00:30:30On this occasion, Ben White's gone with him.
00:30:32But he switches off.
00:30:33And then that little pass, all of a sudden, there's that space.
00:30:35And you're on the Arsenal back four.
00:30:36We didn't see that very often with other games.
00:30:39Better pass there than Mattson would have been in.
00:30:42Here's Tielemans, who was absolutely outstanding in the game.
00:30:45Picking up that position.
00:30:47This time, Rodgers keeps his position.
00:30:49He's out on the left-hand side in space.
00:30:51Got a bit of space out there at times.
00:30:53And he's always, end product's always good.
00:30:55And Cash nearly gets a shot away.
00:30:57Great block from Declan Rice.
00:30:59On this occasion, you can see, again, with Rodgers popping up in that 10
00:31:04where Zubamendi isn't really keeping an eye on him
00:31:06because he's thinking, where's Tielemans?
00:31:08What's a pass that is, by the way?
00:31:10And there's Tielemans just to the left of him.
00:31:12Little swap of positions.
00:31:13Watkins is in, trying to get a shot off.
00:31:16Maybe should have passed it there for a shot.
00:31:19But it's a good block, again, from Arsenal.
00:31:21But they kept getting into pockets and spaces behind Arsenal
00:31:25that we haven't seen teams do against this brilliant defence.
00:31:28Yes, they've got centre-halves missing.
00:31:29We know that.
00:31:30This is an unbelievable run from Rodgers, by the way.
00:31:32Talk about confidence and skill from him.
00:31:35And there's Tielemans again.
00:31:36His energy, Tielemans, I mean,
00:31:38he looked like he had a point to prove today.
00:31:40This is a great example.
00:31:42Two-pocket, Zubamendi doesn't know which way to go, right or left.
00:31:45Rodgers drifts over from that central position.
00:31:47It's an in-to-out run.
00:31:48Because of that, Timber has to go with him.
00:31:50There's the Arsenal centre-half at right-back.
00:31:52Zubamendi's had to cover Timber,
00:31:53so you've got midfield in at centre-half.
00:31:55Nobody drags Arsenal around like this.
00:31:57It was absolutely brilliant at times.
00:31:59And to come back, actually, from go...
00:32:01Arsenal at 1-1 were in the ascendancy,
00:32:03and Villa regained their composure really well.
00:32:05Here he is again, running...
00:32:07I mean, his physique and his power
00:32:09when he's running with the ball is incredible.
00:32:11But Ben White, again, he's not matching him
00:32:13because he's too far in.
00:32:15He's tucked into that little pocket.
00:32:16Brilliant, intelligent play from him.
00:32:18This is the winner.
00:32:19Tielemans involved.
00:32:20Rodgers popping up on the right this side.
00:32:21He'd swap sides because Sancho would come on.
00:32:23And when you talk about quality across
00:32:25in the last-minute game, look at this.
00:32:26And there's Tielemans.
00:32:27Just watch.
00:32:28He's got ahead of Zubamendi again,
00:32:30caused him problems all afternoon.
00:32:32And probably just about edged the game
00:32:34with the quality of their performance
00:32:35and deserved the win.
00:32:36Because I thought over the 90 minutes
00:32:38they had better opportunities,
00:32:40got into better areas.
00:32:42And I think we'll see a graphic now
00:32:43where the numbers will tell you this.
00:32:45I mean, big chances against Arsenal.
00:32:47That's five more than anyone else.
00:32:49Touches in the opposition box.
00:32:50And expected goals, 2.18.
00:32:51He's huge against arguably the best defence in Europe.
00:32:55I know they're missing players.
00:32:57Before you jump on, I know.
00:33:00And anyone would miss two great centre-halves like that.
00:33:02But still, credit Villa.
00:33:04Absolutely brilliant.
00:33:05Definitely agree.
00:33:06Yeah, what about your old side?
00:33:07They've really grown into this season.
00:33:09They've now beaten the team who are top of the table.
00:33:11They've got themselves right in the mix themselves.
00:33:14Do we start talking about them as title contenders?
00:33:18Why not?
00:33:19In the situation that they're in at the moment,
00:33:21three points behind a team they've just beaten today.
00:33:23But it's about keeping all the players fit
00:33:26and staying at these levels today
00:33:29if they want to stay in a title race.
00:33:30If they do that, yes, they are.
00:33:32Without a doubt.
00:33:32You mentioned the Arsenal injuries
00:33:35and we should sort of factor that in
00:33:37and take a look at the players who are out.
00:33:39Is it an excuse?
00:33:40Is it a reason for the way that they performed today?
00:33:44For the goals that they conceded against Villa?
00:33:46I think it's fair to say they might have more points
00:33:50if Saliba and Gabriel had been fit for all the games.
00:33:54That's fair.
00:33:55I actually think the level of Villa's performance today,
00:33:59I'm not sure it would have mattered.
00:34:00They were that good.
00:34:02But I do think moving forward for Arsenal,
00:34:04the quicker they get those two back, the better for them.
00:34:07That's not because Nkappé and Mosquera aren't good players,
00:34:10but they've just set this bar, those two.
00:34:12They're such a good partnership.
00:34:14Talking of good players,
00:34:16Barry Venison was the last Sunderland player
00:34:18to score a winning goal away at Manchester City
00:34:2144 years ago this month.
00:34:24We don't think Jonathan Pearce was commentating at that one,
00:34:27but he was at the Etihad today.
00:34:31Since that Sunderland win at Main Road,
00:34:33they've failed to pick up a single victory
00:34:35in 13 Premier League attempts at City.
00:34:38They've won six in a row against today's visitors.
00:34:41Pep Guardiola has called the midweek tie forward
00:34:43at Fulham crazy,
00:34:44admitting they have to defend better,
00:34:46but he sticks with the same back four.
00:34:48Cherki with his fifth league start,
00:34:50verinders their only change.
00:34:52They're unbeaten at home in Saturday 3pm kick-offs
00:34:54in the Premier League for four years.
00:34:56Sunderland make three changes
00:34:58from their creditable draw at Liverpool.
00:35:00Income Gertrida to a back five.
00:35:02Isidore and Torre for Tarbi,
00:35:05Brobby and Reinildo who has a groin injury.
00:35:07It's manager Regis Labrie's 50th birthday.
00:35:13Manchester City look for a seventh Premier League home win in a row.
00:35:18He says go on,
00:35:22and that's well played, Sunderland.
00:35:25Strong run by Torre.
00:35:27Here's Le Fay.
00:35:29That's the first thing he's done in the game.
00:35:31And he did it quite well,
00:35:32drafted a shot in the end.
00:35:34One thing in his mind,
00:35:35saw the gap,
00:35:35went for it,
00:35:37pushed it wide.
00:35:37Manchester City have got a very good record
00:35:41against promoted sides.
00:35:4224 wins in their last 26 meetings
00:35:44against teams who've come up.
00:35:46The thing is,
00:35:48Sunderland don't look anything like
00:35:50a newly promoted team.
00:35:52Here's Cherki.
00:35:54Doku is still waiting on the left-hand side.
00:35:57Another ball game.
00:35:59By the time they've got it to him though,
00:36:00once again Sunderland are set.
00:36:03Michele is there with him.
00:36:05So to draw it.
00:36:06Here's Cherki again.
00:36:07One more pass comes here to Diaz.
00:36:09He slammed it,
00:36:10what a goal!
00:36:13What a strike!
00:36:16That was Vincent Kompany-esque.
00:36:19A terrific way to break the deadlock.
00:36:24Tremendous goal this.
00:36:25When it came to Diaz,
00:36:26he saw a gap.
00:36:27Bang, he went for it, didn't he?
00:36:29It's deflected I think.
00:36:30Hit it with great power.
00:36:32But the deflection played a major part.
00:36:35Will that alter Sunderland's game plan?
00:36:37Not at this stage of the match, I would think.
00:36:41Cherki.
00:36:45That's a corner.
00:36:45Hume got the last touch as he defended.
00:36:50Harland, the powerhouse in the middle.
00:36:56And it comes towards Harland, it's a brilliant run-in there,
00:37:00and a powerful header to give him the second.
00:37:02Jusko Glanjol.
00:37:03And from Sunday, looking like a frustrating Saturday afternoon,
00:37:09Manchester City's centre-backs have shown the forwards the way to do it.
00:37:13It's a thumping header.
00:37:15All the eyes were on Harland.
00:37:16And he's powered on in.
00:37:21Shrugs off his marker and powers in the header.
00:37:25Once he got into that position, a downward header with that power was always going to be difficult to stop.
00:37:302-0 Manchester City.
00:37:31Harland, isolated with Ballard, a bit of wrestling going on there.
00:37:39Cherki to Doku.
00:37:42Jeremy Doku bending it, off the post.
00:37:45Comes out, Foden, brilliant block by Ballard.
00:37:48Foden again.
00:37:51This time it was blocked by Siddiqui, and Manchester City so close to it there.
00:37:56He shaped the shot deliciously.
00:37:58Off the upright.
00:38:00Close to the sixth of the season for Jeremy Doku.
00:38:03And then Foden's effort was blocked by Ballard.
00:38:08Oh, great to see big Narquin in the house.
00:38:11For both of these football clubs.
00:38:13Seven years at Manchester City, and then seven years at Sunday.
00:38:16Oh, Foden calling for the ball.
00:38:20Oh, it's good pressure!
00:38:22And a fine save by Donnarumma.
00:38:25That was their moment, Sunderland, to get back into the game.
00:38:29Isidore denied by the goalkeeper.
00:38:32Diaz.
00:38:34Lackadaisical.
00:38:35Isidore pounced.
00:38:37Hit the ball and it hadn't quite come down.
00:38:40Straight at Donnarumma.
00:38:43Held in towards the near post area.
00:38:45It's going to be a corner up Harland.
00:38:52Faye with the corner kick.
00:38:54City have everyone back.
00:38:57It's loose, it comes out to Xhaka!
00:38:59Off the post!
00:39:01And scrambled up in the air for Manchester City.
00:39:05Sunderland captain denied by the woodwork.
00:39:07Really unlucky here, Xhaka.
00:39:10Kept it down, good technique, drilled against the post.
00:39:13Ronaldo Silva slips it to Xhaka, they've got a good understanding.
00:39:18Oh, he's done brilliantly.
00:39:20Still going, Xhaka.
00:39:21Mesmerik.
00:39:22Holland.
00:39:22Off the line.
00:39:24Would have been a superb third Manchester City goal.
00:39:28Xhaka at the heart of it.
00:39:30So close here.
00:39:34This is wonderful from Ryan Schirker.
00:39:36This is what he can do at his best.
00:39:38Left defenders floundering.
00:39:40And Torrida was the man on the line to block.
00:39:41Ireland for Manchester City.
00:39:48Whenever he picks it up, there's a buzz around the Etihad Stadium.
00:39:52Bernardo Silva.
00:39:53There's Cherki White.
00:39:55Up through the gears.
00:39:57Stands up the defender.
00:39:59Lovely.
00:39:59Beautiful.
00:40:00What a goal.
00:40:01Bill Foden.
00:40:03Extraordinary.
00:40:05Wow.
00:40:07Ryan Cherki.
00:40:09Bit of magic.
00:40:09Foden finished it off.
00:40:12What a run he's having.
00:40:14But it was the way the goal was created by Ryan Cherki, who has turned it on today.
00:40:21There shouldn't be a danger until this moment coming up.
00:40:24Runs the defender.
00:40:25Checks back.
00:40:26And how about this?
00:40:27Wonderful.
00:40:29And Foden finishes it off.
00:40:31Beautiful.
00:40:32And Cherki.
00:40:34Everyone is on their feet at the Etihad applauding.
00:40:37That's one of the goals of the season.
00:40:38Arsenal now will be only too aware that Manchester City are breathing down their necks.
00:40:47Now Cherki.
00:40:50He's done his man again.
00:40:52He's on fire.
00:40:54Comes all the way through.
00:40:55And just poked wide.
00:40:57That would have been some start for Tajani Rangas.
00:41:02On a plate for him, really, after the work from Cherki.
00:41:05Doku now, as Manchester City looked to break.
00:41:15Cherki.
00:41:16Marmouche is through the middle.
00:41:19He's hung on to it.
00:41:21Doku's on the outside.
00:41:23And it's a decent save by Rufus.
00:41:28Right footed across the goalkeeper's save.
00:41:29Onini's come on at the left back.
00:41:37On the far side.
00:41:38He played a minute of the season so far.
00:41:40Onini was up with a shoulder injury.
00:41:43Here's Doku.
00:41:46Notice the City look for a fourth.
00:41:47No way through there.
00:41:48And still he gets a shot away.
00:41:54Doku's allowed to spin.
00:41:55And the goalkeeper pushed it over.
00:41:57Made short.
00:42:03Doku Nien.
00:42:05After foot in there.
00:42:08And he won't get a yellow card.
00:42:09It's not the first of his career.
00:42:12It won't be the last.
00:42:16Oh, looking at that.
00:42:18That's nasty.
00:42:19This is going to be an on-field review.
00:42:21He's mistimed that.
00:42:23He's caught the player.
00:42:25Fairly high.
00:42:26It wasn't a control challenge.
00:42:29He knows he's going.
00:42:30He's already walking.
00:42:32That's certainly endangered.
00:42:34His opponent caught Nunes on the calf.
00:42:45On for five minutes.
00:42:46Yellow becomes red.
00:42:49Manchester City pile the pressure on Arsenal.
00:42:52With a convincing 3-0 win.
00:42:54It's tough to repeat high performances at this level.
00:43:01We knew before that the sequence of Bournemouth, Liverpool and Manchester away was a strong sequence.
00:43:08I think we did well against Liverpool.
00:43:10We were not at our best today.
00:43:12And City's quality is relentless.
00:43:15So they deserve this win.
00:43:16I know my quality.
00:43:17My quality is my technique.
00:43:19When I play with Phil, Erling, Omar, Bernardo, it's very important for me to give the good ball for them.
00:43:28And then I won't continue like that.
00:43:30The piece of skill from Schalke, how special was that?
00:43:33With that one, the cross was good.
00:43:35The way right, left, the way what they have done is fine.
00:43:39But the best player, the best player I played that game is Messi.
00:43:43Never, never make naive things.
00:43:47Always the simple things.
00:43:48With different messages, the simple things always is the best.
00:43:50And all these type of players, they have a big, big talent.
00:43:54With Ryan, he's a big talent.
00:43:55If cross is good, it's fine.
00:43:57But if it's not good, that isn't good.
00:44:00Well, it wasn't quite a stuffing, but there was a Cherky.
00:44:03Even if Pep Guardiola thinks that there's room for improvement, room for simplification is what he wants from Cherky.
00:44:10And he's said things like this a couple of times already about this player.
00:44:14And yet, what he does is so important.
00:44:17Well, listen, what he did today impressed me.
00:44:20I thought he chose the right pass at the right time.
00:44:24He gets himself into good positions.
00:44:26Never looks flustered when he's on the ball.
00:44:29Seems to assess the situation.
00:44:30I mean, a little bit of skill there.
00:44:31I wanted to show that.
00:44:32That was very good to get himself out of the tight spec.
00:44:35And you always say, use your skill when you need to.
00:44:37Look at him here.
00:44:38Nice and calm.
00:44:39He just waits.
00:44:39He can go to his right winger if he wants to, to Nunes.
00:44:43But he just waits for that gap to open.
00:44:45Silva's there.
00:44:45And he just waits.
00:44:46He's patient.
00:44:46And he just threads it through.
00:44:48No problem at all.
00:44:49He knows what the right pass is.
00:44:51And he can execute it more often than not.
00:44:53I like this one because he, it's the weight of the pass.
00:44:57And Daniel appreciate this one.
00:44:58As a midfield player, you like to bang it into your forward players as quick as possible.
00:45:02Again here, he doesn't panic.
00:45:05Keeps the ball at his feet.
00:45:06He waits and he waits and he waits.
00:45:07And that chance there for Harland is bread and water more or less than he would normally score that.
00:45:13This time he's thinking to himself, what do I do here?
00:45:15Do I cross it now?
00:45:16No, I can find a gap.
00:45:17I can pick someone out.
00:45:19And he picks out his teammate at the far post.
00:45:21So he ticks a lot of boxes for Pep.
00:45:23I know he doesn't like him showboating, but, you know, as you will see towards the end of this clip, a bit of showboating works.
00:45:29This one here, no pass on.
00:45:30So I'll do it myself.
00:45:32So what he does is what I think is no other midfield player does for City.
00:45:37I think this here, a little bit of a chop.
00:45:39There's the aboner that the boss didn't like, but it ended up on Phil Foden's head.
00:45:44And it's a goal.
00:45:44I mean, that's just outstanding.
00:45:46To have the confidence to do that and to put it in the right place.
00:45:49As long as it works, the boss is right.
00:45:51As long as it works, you'll get away with it.
00:45:53And he does this right across the pitch.
00:45:56He does.
00:45:57Most touches, most touches in the opposition box, most pass in the final third.
00:46:00Final third kills his the one.
00:46:01Most chances created.
00:46:02Yeah.
00:46:03You know, pass in the final third.
00:46:04That means he's being positive with his football.
00:46:06He affected the game today.
00:46:08So he makes all those differences.
00:46:10And then Pep Guardiola says, look, even Lionel Messi doesn't try that kind of trick.
00:46:15He keeps it simple.
00:46:16Is he right to point that out, do you think?
00:46:18I quite like it in a way.
00:46:20It's typical Pep because what he's doing is he's just giving the player a little bit of a warning
00:46:25that he wants perfection all the time.
00:46:27He wants more.
00:46:28So all the good stuff, he'll have told him well done.
00:46:31Of course.
00:46:32The stuff you've pointed out, they're really good things.
00:46:35Keep doing that.
00:46:36But then don't let that lead you to start trying these silly things.
00:46:39Because the Rabona is going to be one in 50, that.
00:46:42So I quite like what Pep's done there.
00:46:43Looks good when it comes off, though, doesn't it?
00:46:45Now, David Moyes said yesterday that Sean Dyche did a brilliant job as Everton boss.
00:46:50Dyche returned to his former club with Nottingham Forest.
00:46:53Stephen Wyeth was at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
00:46:57Mutual admiration between the managers matched only by a shared desire for an impressive fourth win in five.
00:47:03Everton's squad is stretched, so Michael Keane's return from injury to replace the suspended Tim Iribunum is a relief.
00:47:11The local fondness for Jack Grealish has been intensified by his midweek winner at Bournemouth.
00:47:16Forest's single goal success at Wolves has convinced Sean Dyche to stick with the same players.
00:47:21So Amari Hutchinson's patience is rewarded with successive Premier League starts.
00:47:26Morgan Gibbs-White scored in the corresponding fixture last season, a 2-0 Forest win.
00:47:34Two sides who've come into December in excellent form.
00:47:38In fact, in identical form across the last five games.
00:47:42What will it take to separate them today?
00:47:44Saverna with his first challenge up against Jack Grealish.
00:47:51And it's resulted in an early Everton free kick.
00:47:56And a yellow card inside 30 seconds.
00:48:01Less than ideal for Saverna, considering the form that Jack Grealish has been in recently.
00:48:09Might be costly in terms of his ability to make further challenges this afternoon.
00:48:14And it comes from Garnap.
00:48:18Well defended by Forest, but Everton can stay forward for the time being.
00:48:24Dewsbury Hall has gone for the return pass.
00:48:27And has composed himself.
00:48:29And has scored.
00:48:31A fantastic early Everton goal.
00:48:34Keane and Dewsbury Hall.
00:48:36In scintillating form of late.
00:48:38Well, Garnap and Dewsbury Hall exchange passes.
00:48:43But it was all about that turn back inside.
00:48:47Dewsbury Hall's was not the final touch.
00:48:49Nikola Malenkovich, it may well go down as an own goal against him.
00:48:54Everton won't mind how they've scored.
00:48:56All they will mind is that they are in front early.
00:49:00After a run of two defeats in three at home.
00:49:07Now off the ball, Tarkovsky is shoved in Doi.
00:49:12Any sort of delay right now might suit Sean Dyche.
00:49:16Although we will be concerned about Dan and Doi.
00:49:21Tarkovsky just backing into Doi initially.
00:49:25And then a bump from behind.
00:49:27That was more aggressive than needed.
00:49:30It has now been checked and cleared as nothing more than petulant.
00:49:36That's what Sean Dyche thinks of it.
00:49:41Late first half pressure from Nottingham Forest.
00:49:44Hutchinson, nicely done.
00:49:48Anderson, super save.
00:49:51Jordan Pickford, it needed to be a really strong hand.
00:49:55Well, this is the most threatening we've seen Nottingham Forest.
00:49:58Anderson on target.
00:50:00But Jordan Pickford knew that he didn't just need to save the shot.
00:50:02He needs to make sure the ball was directed away from the loitering Forest players.
00:50:08Here comes Njai.
00:50:09Late first half chance for Everton.
00:50:11Njai for Barry.
00:50:13Yes.
00:50:14Finally for Tiano Barry.
00:50:20A moment of jubilation and utter joy.
00:50:24His endeavour has been appreciated throughout the first half.
00:50:28Now he has a goal to show for his 45 minutes of effort.
00:50:33And his efforts for Everton up until now.
00:50:36As Everton broke, Forest think there might have been a touch off referee Chris Kavanagh.
00:50:42Moretto has been booked for his protests.
00:50:47Njai skipped past the challenge of Moretto.
00:50:50And then it was about the decision making and the weight of pass.
00:50:53Both were perfect.
00:50:55And Tiano Barry, the beneficiary of Tiano Barry, the beneficiary of a relatively straightforward finish to get off the mark in Everton colours.
00:51:02Not just a goal for him, but a goal to give Everton a comfortable lead going into half-time.
00:51:09Well, the 21 points that Everton had on the board coming into the weekend, impressive if you consider that in each of the last three seasons.
00:51:21And they didn't reach that tally until February.
00:51:26In from Hudson-Odoi.
00:51:28And Pickford has not dealt with that at all.
00:51:32And has taken Tarkovsky on the line to save the goalkeeper from an embarrassing moment.
00:51:38As he came, but didn't make anything like sufficient contact and then couldn't get on the loose ball.
00:51:43Right place, right time.
00:51:45James Tarkovsky to preserve Everton's 2-0 lead.
00:51:48Dwight McNeil finding Garner.
00:51:57McNeil applying some pressure.
00:52:00And it's forced a mistake.
00:52:03Grealish.
00:52:04Chance for a third.
00:52:06And so close to it.
00:52:08Dewsbury Hall.
00:52:11Teed up by Grealish.
00:52:13But he could only glance the outside of the frame with the goal.
00:52:18His Saturday afternoons were a little bit freer this season to get out and about and watch one of his old clubs in action.
00:52:25Gary Lineker sat alongside Peter Reid.
00:52:29Gibbs-White.
00:52:30Pinched away from him by McNeil.
00:52:33His fresh legs in midfield for Everton have been useful and now Dwight McNeil has got space to exploit as well.
00:52:39Hilleman and Jai.
00:52:42Beto in the penalty area and Jai going it alone and very nearly producing a wonderful finish.
00:52:49Instead, Matt Sells with the outstretched hand turns it aside.
00:52:55Jai had an option in the middle if he wanted it.
00:52:57There was a stumble which looked like it might cost him an effort at goal.
00:53:02But when it did come, Matt Sells was required to come up with a save.
00:53:10White McNeil, he's been really positive since coming on.
00:53:14Can I see it back from Grealish.
00:53:17Off Abbott for the corner.
00:53:18Garner's corner.
00:53:25Tarkovsky's in there, Sells had to get a hand on the ball.
00:53:29And then fired back in.
00:53:30Quite brilliantly.
00:53:32That'll do for Everton very nicely.
00:53:35And all three points secured.
00:53:37Kearden Dewsbury-Hall has put the matter beyond any reasonable doubt.
00:53:42Well, perhaps fitting that he's scored after another blockbuster display
00:53:47in that Everton midfield.
00:53:49Power and placement more than enough to make it Everton 3, Nottingham Forest 0.
00:53:57I'm too old now to say that I just want to avoid relegation.
00:54:00I want to make Europe and I want to get Everton in Europe.
00:54:03But I'm also not daft enough to come out and say that that's possible
00:54:06because we have to try and work really hard.
00:54:08We're probably not ready or not quite at that level.
00:54:13But we'll keep knocking on the door and see where we end up.
00:54:16Well, we obviously didn't start well and that's not ideal.
00:54:19And then the second one, I mean, I'm crying at him,
00:54:21but he hits the ref on the way through.
00:54:23I thought the rules were if the ball hits the ref, they have to stop it.
00:54:26I just spoke to the ref, he said it didn't hit him.
00:54:28We know it did, you can see it, but that's the way it goes.
00:54:30Decisions go against us.
00:54:31I think Big Targu, you know, I'm a great fan of two different clubs.
00:54:35He hits one of our players in the back and I know there's nothing done about that.
00:54:38I've just seen him, I told him it was getting a mention.
00:54:40But generally, they deserved it.
00:54:41And we weren't anywhere near where I want us to be.
00:54:44I think it's huge for him.
00:54:45But I think that everybody felt that it was coming.
00:54:48It was certainly due, we put it that way,
00:54:50because we wanted to give him the chance to do it.
00:54:52But, you know, he's got to score.
00:54:54I think when you're playing centre-forward,
00:54:56if you're not going to score, then we have to find something else
00:54:58that's going to do that.
00:54:59Today, I feel everything because it's a long time I don't score.
00:55:02So I'm very, very happy.
00:55:05And, yeah, I can't stop to smile because I scored today,
00:55:09so I'm very happy.
00:55:11Dion, it turns out there is a version of Baz Ball that does work.
00:55:15And it's Tieno Barry, who finally, finally gets the goal.
00:55:19Look, David Moyes is very much in the camp of don't get carried away.
00:55:21Yeah.
00:55:22But it's hard not to be happy for him.
00:55:25Yeah, it is because, you know, he's trying so hard.
00:55:27He's getting himself into really good positions.
00:55:29And he's just, sometimes as a centre-forward,
00:55:32everything you hit goes in.
00:55:34At the moment, what he's doing, he thinks he's scored.
00:55:37He shanks winning the call and he's offside,
00:55:39and that didn't work for him either.
00:55:41But today, it just worked for him.
00:55:44There he is.
00:55:46He works so hard.
00:55:47He ends up going down the centre of the pitch,
00:55:49and then he thinks, right, let me just open up the goal for Njai.
00:55:52Njai just puts it on a plate for him.
00:55:53Now, he hasn't got to make a decision.
00:55:55That's the only finish that he can do.
00:55:57There's nothing he's got to do apart from passing the back of Njai.
00:56:00And look at the joy in his face.
00:56:02That is someone that just wants to score goals and help his teammates out.
00:56:07And I was so happy for him.
00:56:08Yeah, there was such a fantastic reception, not just from the fans,
00:56:11but, as you say, from his teammates as well.
00:56:13And from some watching dignitaries in the stands there as well.
00:56:17Look, this is the Premier League table since David Moyes came in January,
00:56:22earlier this year.
00:56:24Everton are in eighth place in that.
00:56:26You know, they're doing incredibly well.
00:56:28He says Europe is where he wants to take them,
00:56:31but he doesn't want to say that it's possible.
00:56:33On this form, it is possible, isn't it?
00:56:36Well, I mean, they'd have to be lucky with injuries.
00:56:38They haven't got great strength and depth,
00:56:40but he's done an exceptional job
00:56:41and probably exceeded all Evertonians' expectations.
00:56:45It's remarkable, really.
00:56:48And hopefully he'll be back, well, for them, for his sake,
00:56:50and the club's sake, he'll be back again in January to kick on
00:56:52and maybe try and cement a top eight, top six fin,
00:56:56and probably top eight more realistic than top six.
00:56:58Two games for you in Sunday's Match of the Day.
00:57:02It's FA Cup second round weekend.
00:57:25Boorham Wood versus Newport County is live on Sunday.
00:57:29BBC Two from 2.15pm.
00:57:32There's live rugby tomorrow.
00:57:33Saracens play Loughborough Lightning in the PWR.
00:57:36That's a 3pm kickoff on iPlayer.
00:57:38And this week's football interview with Mauricio Pochettino
00:57:41follows us tonight, or you can watch it when you like, on iPlayer.
00:57:45And if you missed the start of the show,
00:57:47it's available right now on iPlayer,
00:57:48along with highlights from every single match.
00:57:51Well, we've just seen their win over Nottingham Forest,
00:57:55but it's time for a second trip to Everton
00:57:57to find out what the club's doing to keep young fans in safe hands.
00:58:04Everton, the community, they've been helping people across Liverpool,
00:58:08all age groups, for 35 years now.
00:58:10Today I'm back and I'm meeting a young man
00:58:13whose journey shows the great work that this place can do.
00:58:17You all right? How you doing, Jack? You OK?
00:58:18I'm Michael Keane, and this is more than a game.
00:58:21What's your favourite?
00:58:24So, Safe Hands is a programme that started two years ago,
00:58:27looking at targeting young people
00:58:30who are struggling in the mainstream school
00:58:32for a lot of different reasons.
00:58:34High school, honestly, was really hard.
00:58:37Before I come here, I was very bad with sensory issues.
00:58:40I'm a previous student of Safe Hands,
00:58:42and I am now enrolled in Catering College.
00:58:45Jai's journey has been an amazing one to witness and be a part of,
00:58:52so to see him in college now and absolutely thriving
00:58:54is absolutely amazing to see.
00:58:57So they've really helped you?
00:58:59Really, yeah.
00:59:00To see the impact this place has had on Jai is amazing.
00:59:05He's so confident.
00:59:06He's amazing at what he does,
00:59:08and hopefully it can help a lot more people too.
00:59:13I'll see how it tastes at the end,
00:59:15but it looks like it's going to be nice.
00:59:17Safe Hands is funded by the Premier League and the PFA Fund.
00:59:22With the support that they give us,
00:59:23we are able to support so many young people
00:59:25across the city of Liverpool.
00:59:26Spurs fans had seen their team win just three times at home this year.
00:59:36Their manager, Thomas Frank,
00:59:37came up against former club Brentford for the first time.
00:59:40James Fielden was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
00:59:43Once colleagues, now friends, and this afternoon, opponents.
00:59:47Thomas Frank invites his B's successor, Keith Andrews,
00:59:50to a place which hasn't been a happy Spurs house in 2025.
00:59:53Just three league wins here, lose again.
00:59:55It'll be their worst ever calendar year for league defeats.
00:59:59Tottenham without the injured Destiny Udoggi
01:00:01will give a first start in a month to Xavi Simons,
01:00:03who's been impressing the boss.
01:00:04Van der Ven, Spence, Cray and Richarlison
01:00:06are all recalled to the side.
01:00:08Brentford have lost six of their seven away games
01:00:11and reinstate Collins, Henderson and Damsgaard,
01:00:13who makes his 100th Premier League appearance.
01:00:15Top scorer Igor Thiago is also back in after rotating in midweek.
01:00:18The Brazilian has scored nine in his last nine appearances.
01:00:21Tottenham with 13 defeats in their last 21 Premier League games here.
01:00:29It hasn't been a happy place to come for Spurs fans in recent times.
01:00:32It might get worse here.
01:00:33Eagle Thiago trying to catch out Vicario at that near post,
01:00:37and he so very nearly did.
01:00:39But it was a top stop by the Italian.
01:00:42He took it early there, the Brazilian.
01:00:44Simon's in behind Vandenberghe, Richarlison in the middle.
01:00:53It's Richarlison, it's 1-0 Tottenham.
01:00:56Four in six games for the Brazilian.
01:01:00And just the kind of positivity the majority of this crowd needed.
01:01:04Great run by Xavi Simons in behind.
01:01:06Vandenberghe wasn't catching him,
01:01:08and it was the perfect assist for the striker waiting in the middle.
01:01:12His sick Premier League goal of the season.
01:01:15And Tottenham off and running.
01:01:21Van der Ven.
01:01:24Bumped.
01:01:25And no foul by Igor Thiago.
01:01:28The cutback was looking good,
01:01:30but that was until Rodrigo Benton-Kur got involved.
01:01:33Simons.
01:01:35Kudus.
01:01:36Gone in, going on the outside and still driving.
01:01:42It's behind for a corner.
01:01:45Aina with a clean challenge.
01:01:47Kudus is going to be giving him a tough afternoon,
01:01:49but the Norwegian was equal to him there.
01:01:53Kudus looking to find one of them.
01:01:55And he very nearly did.
01:01:57Kelleher away.
01:01:58It's a corner on the other side.
01:01:59Polo's corner.
01:02:07Romero.
01:02:08Colin Mouane.
01:02:09Somehow scoops away by Kelleher.
01:02:14And the Paris Saint-Germain Loney nearly did the business
01:02:17in the Premier League for the first time there.
01:02:20Both of his goals for Tottenham Hotspur so far
01:02:22came in the Champions League away
01:02:23to Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 5.
01:02:27And then to Romero.
01:02:31Simons with a heavy touch.
01:02:34But he's done really well to win it back.
01:02:37Xavi Simons, who set up the opener,
01:02:39could be in for a goal himself.
01:02:41Yes, he is!
01:02:42His first for Tottenham!
01:02:45What a moment for Xavi Simons!
01:02:49It's been an up-and-down start to life
01:02:51here in North London for the Dutchman.
01:02:54But after making the error in midfield,
01:02:56it was all about him after that.
01:02:59He just kept on going and going.
01:03:01Had the pace and composure.
01:03:03And the finish to match.
01:03:06And even at this early stage,
01:03:08with Brentford's miserable away record,
01:03:10it might be a second goal to put this result beyond doubt.
01:03:16Brentford have a lot of work to do.
01:03:172-0 down, away to Spurs.
01:03:20Not too many would come back from here.
01:03:21We've got Thiago crowded
01:03:25around the edge of the Spurs' penalty area.
01:03:29Brenton Coeur.
01:03:31Gray.
01:03:32Spence.
01:03:34Colin Mouane.
01:03:37Oh, it's broken down, but no.
01:03:38Spence is in for number three.
01:03:40Kelleher denies him.
01:03:41Mischief by Colin Mouane.
01:03:44And the charlacen
01:03:45can't find a way through.
01:03:48And Kelleher here has stayed down.
01:03:51Kelleher has just taken a shin to the back of the head there.
01:03:56Understandably a little bit groggy.
01:03:57Simmonds.
01:04:03Kouros.
01:04:03Couldn't quite bring it under control.
01:04:06Dam's guy didn't see the challenge from Porro coming.
01:04:08Henry making a mess of things.
01:04:10Kouros.
01:04:12Mohamed Kouros.
01:04:13Tried to pull it back across,
01:04:15but Kelleher equal to it.
01:04:18Brentford not helping themselves there.
01:04:21Kouros, such a great driver with the ball.
01:04:22Thought he could have gone across goal,
01:04:24but pulled it to the near post instead.
01:04:29And the rain has descended upon this stadium.
01:04:34Jensen.
01:04:35Here's Henry.
01:04:37Was his path blocked there by Pedro Porro?
01:04:42Certainly was in a subtle kind of way.
01:04:46Kouros.
01:04:48Kouros was on the beach there doing keep-ups,
01:04:50but he's gone out of play for a throw to Brentford.
01:04:51Already taken by Jensen.
01:04:53Eagle, Thiago.
01:04:55And Romero coming in right at the last there
01:04:57to save the day for Spurs.
01:05:00Romero screaming in the face there
01:05:02of Mohamed Kouros,
01:05:04who gave the ball away initially.
01:05:10Spence still has plenty to give down that left-hand side.
01:05:17Spence.
01:05:18It's got to be for Saar.
01:05:19Oh, great block by Kelleher.
01:05:26And Brentford just about surviving here.
01:05:30And away it goes,
01:05:31but Tottenham just cannot finish this game.
01:05:34Well, Papsar scored three minutes in time
01:05:36the last time these sides met in February
01:05:38to wrap up a 2-0 win away from home.
01:05:41Thwarted there by the Brentford goalkeeper.
01:05:43Henderson.
01:05:49Thiago.
01:05:52Toro.
01:05:53The clear is that doesn't go very far.
01:05:56Jan Eltz.
01:05:57And Eagle Thiago!
01:05:59Side netting only.
01:06:01A really rare chance for the Brazilian this afternoon.
01:06:04And that chance might have needed to have been taken by Brentford
01:06:07if they were going to salvage a draw out of this.
01:06:11Not this time.
01:06:12I think we all felt,
01:06:14OK, we need the top performance for all of us together.
01:06:17And if we can do more of this together,
01:06:21this can be the fortress we're dreaming of.
01:06:22It's one step forward.
01:06:24There's a lot of steps to be there consistently every week for us
01:06:27and the fans together,
01:06:28but I loved it.
01:06:29I think they were very good.
01:06:30I didn't think we had the spark needed
01:06:32to really undo them this afternoon.
01:06:35It was always going to come from a moment or a set-piece,
01:06:38I felt, with the way that we were playing.
01:06:40I thought the players in general showed a lot of character,
01:06:42spirit, togetherness in the second half.
01:06:45And unfortunately, we couldn't quite get the goal
01:06:47to really unnerve it.
01:06:48Xavi has been, you know,
01:06:49I'm so pleased for him.
01:06:51Really, really so pleased for him
01:06:52because he's been working very hard
01:06:53on the training pitch in the gym.
01:06:55He's a 24-7 pro.
01:06:56He's so determined.
01:06:57He won it so badly.
01:06:58And actually, I think he's been on a good run,
01:07:00you know, close to be decisive.
01:07:02And today an assist and a goal very good.
01:07:04Well, not only has Xavi Simmonds
01:07:06been working incredibly hard,
01:07:08he's also making a huge difference for Tottenham.
01:07:11Does that surprise you, Danny,
01:07:12in terms of those numbers?
01:07:13It does when I saw these numbers, yeah.
01:07:15And I think it'll surprise a few Spurs fans.
01:07:17The two biggest things there are the wins
01:07:18and the points per game with him in the team
01:07:21compared to when he doesn't.
01:07:23I think today he looked full of confidence.
01:07:25The whole team looked more confident for some reason.
01:07:26There was an energy about him and a dynamism.
01:07:29There's been a lot of talk.
01:07:30Great ball back from Ben Sankur as well
01:07:32about them playing too safe
01:07:33and not being creative enough at home.
01:07:35But Simmonds was buzzing around.
01:07:38And this example here is brilliant
01:07:40because we've seen him come to feet a lot
01:07:42and try and get in those pockets.
01:07:43This we haven't seen enough of from him.
01:07:45And also, when you do run him behind,
01:07:47have you got the legs to get in there
01:07:48and beat the defender?
01:07:50The manager there is talking about him
01:07:51working really hard in training.
01:07:52He looks stronger.
01:07:53He looks fitter.
01:07:54That's a brilliant pass as well.
01:07:56Puts it on a plate for a charlison.
01:07:59I think I mentioned for Archie Gray as well
01:08:00who was incredible and put himself about.
01:08:03But this is one part of Simmonds' game
01:08:05where we haven't seen enough of that
01:08:07winning the ball back.
01:08:08And you need that when you're playing
01:08:09so much thanks to him.
01:08:10So keep going there and have the strength
01:08:11to hold people off and get the finish.
01:08:13Then his confidence was up.
01:08:15Tottenham enjoyed themselves.
01:08:16They started expressing themselves more
01:08:18and they needed this hugely.
01:08:21Little things like this.
01:08:22The ball comes.
01:08:22He doesn't think.
01:08:23Just puts into a lovely dangerous area.
01:08:25Whereas in recent times when he's played
01:08:26sometimes he's overthinking,
01:08:28playing short, playing wide,
01:08:29not taking the risk.
01:08:32And again we see the energy and the fitness.
01:08:34This is what we're talking about.
01:08:35Because if you're playing that 10 role
01:08:36and more attacking midi,
01:08:37you've got to do this part of it as well.
01:08:40So he'll be delighted.
01:08:41It's hugely important that he started
01:08:43playing to this level.
01:08:45Definitely his best game in the Tottenham show.
01:08:46Great news for Tottenham.
01:08:48Yeah, and they're doing incredibly well.
01:08:50Certainly when he performs well
01:08:51and that's borne out by the numbers.
01:08:54Now Newcastle's new chief executive
01:08:55David Hopkinson said this week
01:08:57that he wants them to be the top club
01:08:59in the world by 2030.
01:09:01But in terms of league position,
01:09:03they're not even the top club
01:09:04in the North East right now.
01:09:06Opponents Burnley had lost their last five
01:09:08and Tom Gale was at St James' Park.
01:09:11Eddie Howe wants greater consistency
01:09:14which essentially means more wins.
01:09:16One of six changes
01:09:17as a first Newcastle Premier League start
01:09:19at St James' Park for Jacob Ramsey.
01:09:22£55 million Johan Wisser,
01:09:24not yet fully fit,
01:09:25could make his debut off the bench.
01:09:28Scott Parker's confidence
01:09:29a big result is just around the corner
01:09:31for Burnley.
01:09:32Martin Dubravka faces the club
01:09:34he left in the summer
01:09:35having spent seven years on Tyneside.
01:09:38Armando Breuer is preferred
01:09:39to the joint top goal scorer
01:09:41Zian Fleming.
01:09:44Cullen's headed
01:09:45only as far as Burn.
01:09:48Willock, Gordon
01:09:49opens up
01:09:51and hits the post!
01:09:57Newcastle supporters watching on
01:09:59were growing impatient with this move.
01:10:01It eventually ends up
01:10:02in a wicked effort
01:10:04from Anthony Gordon.
01:10:09Burn, Gordon's made the run.
01:10:12Hectal comes across
01:10:14and cedes a corner.
01:10:17Newcastle's
01:10:17first of the game
01:10:19as we tick
01:10:20towards the half hour mark.
01:10:22Difficult one
01:10:28which he's got all the way in!
01:10:38Newcastle United's captain
01:10:40scores in back-to-back games
01:10:43to give Eddie Howe's men
01:10:45the breakthrough.
01:10:46Dubravka can only watch on
01:10:49in despair
01:10:49and you have to appreciate
01:10:51the Teckers
01:10:52from the Brazilian here.
01:10:55Newcastle have it.
01:10:56Gordon.
01:10:57Malanga's made the run
01:10:58and he's found
01:10:59what a pass
01:11:00and is he caught?
01:11:02The referee
01:11:02with a decision to make here.
01:11:05And it is a red card
01:11:07for the Brazilian.
01:11:11And this is quickly
01:11:13unravelling
01:11:14for Burnley.
01:11:17First touch
01:11:17takes him away
01:11:18from the Burnley man.
01:11:20And the contact
01:11:21then comes
01:11:22Gordon.
01:11:29Up against Walker
01:11:30who's on a yellow card.
01:11:31Gordon's cross.
01:11:33Vultimada got a touch.
01:11:34Kimarais is appealing
01:11:35for handball.
01:11:38The Brazilian
01:11:39is adamant
01:11:40that this needs
01:11:41to be reviewed.
01:11:42VAR will be
01:11:43taking a look.
01:11:44and we're checking
01:11:49for a possible penalty
01:11:50as Burnley
01:11:51come forward.
01:11:54And the decision
01:11:55from the VAR
01:11:56is to recommend
01:11:57that Stuart Atwell
01:11:58goes over to the monitor
01:12:00because of this.
01:12:03Vultimada
01:12:03and Ugechuk
01:12:05who it is.
01:12:06His arms are certainly
01:12:08out in front
01:12:09and not in a natural
01:12:11position.
01:12:12So let's hear
01:12:13what the decision is.
01:12:14after review
01:12:15Burnley number eight
01:12:17handles the ball
01:12:19but his arms
01:12:19are in a natural
01:12:20position.
01:12:22It has got worse
01:12:26in first half
01:12:27stoppage time
01:12:28for Burnley
01:12:29and they could be
01:12:31a further goal
01:12:32behind
01:12:33if Anthony Gordon
01:12:34is able to put
01:12:36away
01:12:37the second
01:12:39spot kick
01:12:39in the space
01:12:40of five days.
01:12:43Gordon
01:12:44to make it two.
01:12:48Sends his
01:12:48former teammate
01:12:49the wrong way.
01:12:52And Eddie Howe's
01:12:54men
01:12:54have a firm
01:12:55grip
01:12:56of this game
01:12:57after a shaky
01:12:58start.
01:13:00Anthony Gordon
01:13:00converts
01:13:02what is
01:13:02his sixth
01:13:03goal
01:13:04of the season
01:13:05to make it
01:13:06Newcastle two
01:13:07Burnley nil.
01:13:11Comes infield.
01:13:13Guimaraes
01:13:14shifts it
01:13:15to Hall.
01:13:16Crowd want
01:13:17Hall to shoot.
01:13:19Gordon won't
01:13:19need further
01:13:20invitation
01:13:20and
01:13:21he rattles
01:13:23the crossbar.
01:13:25They are
01:13:25certainly knocking
01:13:26very hard
01:13:26on the Burnley
01:13:27door here.
01:13:29Anthony
01:13:34faints
01:13:35goes back
01:13:36at
01:13:36Livramento
01:13:36and gets
01:13:38a touch
01:13:38and it
01:13:39will be
01:13:39a Burnley
01:13:40corner.
01:13:45Anthony's
01:13:46ball in
01:13:46met by
01:13:48Fleming
01:13:48and eventually
01:13:51up falls
01:13:52to Joe
01:13:52Worrell
01:13:52who can't
01:13:53hit the
01:13:53target.
01:13:56Here
01:13:56they are
01:13:57having a look
01:13:58at a
01:13:58possible penalty
01:13:59here
01:13:59and the
01:14:00referee
01:14:01for the second
01:14:02time in this
01:14:03game is being
01:14:04sent over
01:14:04to the
01:14:05monitor.
01:14:06There is clear
01:14:07movement there
01:14:08from Ramsey
01:14:09towards the
01:14:10ball.
01:14:10after review
01:14:12Newcastle
01:14:144-1
01:14:14deliberately
01:14:15handles the
01:14:16ball.
01:14:19This denies a
01:14:20promising attack
01:14:21by a
01:14:21powerful decision
01:14:22is penalty
01:14:23kick
01:14:23and yellow
01:14:24card.
01:14:27Fleming
01:14:27against
01:14:29Ramsdale.
01:14:30Can he
01:14:31secure
01:14:31Burnley
01:14:32a
01:14:32consolation?
01:14:34Yes he
01:14:34can.
01:14:37High school
01:14:37composure
01:14:38from
01:14:40Zian
01:14:41Fleming.
01:14:42Scott
01:14:42Parker
01:14:43will feel
01:14:43as though
01:14:44it's more
01:14:44than what
01:14:44their efforts
01:14:45have deserved
01:14:46here this
01:14:46afternoon at
01:14:47St.
01:14:47James'
01:14:48Park.
01:14:50Newcastle
01:14:50have an
01:14:51unfortunate
01:14:51knack of
01:14:52conceding
01:14:52stoppage time
01:14:53goals this
01:14:54season.
01:14:56Dubravka
01:14:56Esteve
01:14:59challenging
01:15:00met by
01:15:00Chow.
01:15:01Edwards
01:15:02crosses a
01:15:04good one!
01:15:06And somehow
01:15:07no one in
01:15:08Claret is able
01:15:09to connect
01:15:10and Newcastle
01:15:11hang on!
01:15:15It was a
01:15:16bizarre ending
01:15:17to the game
01:15:18because we
01:15:18looked like
01:15:18we were
01:15:19home at
01:15:212-0
01:15:21with minimal
01:15:21time left
01:15:22in the game
01:15:22but one
01:15:23goal can
01:15:24always change
01:15:24things with
01:15:24a 2-0
01:15:25scoreline.
01:15:25the penalty
01:15:26happens and
01:15:27the extra
01:15:28man advantage
01:15:29in that
01:15:29last minute
01:15:31of the game
01:15:31goes out
01:15:31the window
01:15:32because you've
01:15:34got to see
01:15:34that bit
01:15:34out.
01:15:35We didn't
01:15:35do it
01:15:36well enough
01:15:36they had
01:15:36a chance
01:15:36to score
01:15:37and we're
01:15:37very thankful
01:15:38to win.
01:15:38Incredible
01:15:39performance.
01:15:40Absolutely
01:15:40incredible
01:15:41performance
01:15:41from us
01:15:42really.
01:15:43To say
01:15:46that was
01:15:46probably our
01:15:46best performance
01:15:47of the year
01:15:47really.
01:15:48A lot of
01:15:49learning has
01:15:49been done
01:15:50over the
01:15:50course of
01:15:51this year
01:15:51for us
01:15:52and today
01:15:53like I said
01:15:53the dynamics
01:15:54have had
01:15:55the game
01:15:55panned out.
01:15:56There was
01:15:56some hammer
01:15:58blows for us
01:15:59but a group
01:16:00of men
01:16:00there that
01:16:01I'm immensely
01:16:02proud of
01:16:02really.
01:16:03Unbelievable
01:16:04goal to be
01:16:04fair.
01:16:05One of my
01:16:05beautiful goals
01:16:07ever.
01:16:08I'm very happy
01:16:09we're training
01:16:09this during
01:16:10the week.
01:16:11I'm glad
01:16:12that we're
01:16:13in.
01:16:14Unbelievable.
01:16:15Very good
01:16:15goal.
01:16:16Deion
01:16:17there wasn't
01:16:18a game
01:16:18in which
01:16:19either side
01:16:19necessarily
01:16:20put on
01:16:21their best
01:16:21performance
01:16:22but Bruno
01:16:23was a
01:16:23real bright
01:16:24spot.
01:16:25He's like
01:16:27a serial
01:16:27performer
01:16:28for New
01:16:28Castle.
01:16:29He just
01:16:29seems to
01:16:30I don't
01:16:31know he
01:16:31likes the
01:16:32pressure
01:16:32he's a
01:16:33skipper
01:16:33he takes
01:16:34everything
01:16:34on his
01:16:35shoulders
01:16:36he's a
01:16:37cultured
01:16:38football
01:16:38his awareness
01:16:39of way
01:16:40to pass
01:16:41and everything
01:16:41just seems
01:16:42to revolve
01:16:43around him
01:16:44Baltimore
01:16:44there should
01:16:45have really
01:16:45got himself
01:16:46on the
01:16:46score sheet
01:16:47that with
01:16:48his swinger
01:16:48what we call
01:16:49his bad
01:16:50foot
01:16:51that's his
01:16:51good foot
01:16:52outside of
01:16:52the light
01:16:53boot
01:16:53so he's
01:16:53trying
01:16:54everything
01:16:54in order to
01:16:55get his
01:16:55team over
01:16:56the line
01:16:56I mean
01:16:57he ran
01:16:58the most
01:16:58today
01:16:59six changes
01:17:01for Newcastle
01:17:02in total
01:17:02he gets his
01:17:03goal at the
01:17:03end
01:17:03fortunately
01:17:04from a
01:17:04corner
01:17:05I mean
01:17:05he should
01:17:05never be
01:17:06able to
01:17:06score
01:17:06from a
01:17:07corner
01:17:0720th time
01:17:08that's
01:17:09happened
01:17:09in the
01:17:09Premier League
01:17:09yeah
01:17:10it's been
01:17:11going a long
01:17:11time
01:17:11though
01:17:11but if
01:17:14there was a
01:17:15spark it's
01:17:15him
01:17:15and he's
01:17:16done it
01:17:16many many
01:17:17times before
01:17:17they play
01:17:18Leverkusen
01:17:18on Wednesday
01:17:20but they've
01:17:20got the
01:17:21derby against
01:17:22Sunderland
01:17:22next weekend
01:17:23so this
01:17:23sets them
01:17:23up nicely
01:17:24yeah and
01:17:25incredible
01:17:25there's only
01:17:25one point
01:17:26between the
01:17:27two of them
01:17:27in the table
01:17:28at the moment
01:17:28so all to
01:17:29play for
01:17:30in that
01:17:31game
01:17:31now Chelsea
01:17:33we're looking
01:17:33to bounce
01:17:34back from
01:17:34defeat
01:17:35at Leeds
01:17:35against
01:17:35the
01:17:35Bournemouth
01:17:36side
01:17:36who'd
01:17:36picked up
01:17:37just one
01:17:37point
01:17:37from five
01:17:38games
01:17:38Mark

01:17:41Bournemouth
01:17:44this bad
01:17:44run
01:17:45has seen
01:17:45them slip
01:17:46from second
01:17:46to 14th
01:17:47and when
01:17:48asked if
01:17:48the
01:17:49Cherries
01:17:49were fighting
01:17:49for Europe
01:17:50or against
01:17:51relegation
01:17:52Antoni
01:17:52Iraiola
01:17:53said it's
01:17:54a bit of
01:17:54both
01:17:54already
01:17:55without
01:17:55Cook and
01:17:56Christie
01:17:56the suspension
01:17:57of Tyler
01:17:57Adams
01:17:58today
01:17:58means Iraiola
01:17:59has to improvise
01:18:00in midfield
01:18:01and he's
01:18:01made four
01:18:02changes to
01:18:03the team
01:18:03compared to

01:19:03certainly
01:19:04didn't
01:19:04well I
01:19:06have a
01:19:07feeling
01:19:07that
01:19:07Evan
01:19:08Nielsen
01:19:08might be

01:19:09here
01:19:10the goal

01:19:14was in
