00:00Weight loss isn't the only thing GLP-1 users are losing.
00:03I'm Mackenzie Beard, a wellness reporter with the New York Post,
00:06and I spoke to several women who told me that after starting medications like Ozumbic and Munjaro,
00:11their sex drives tanked.
00:12Before starting the medications, they described having a high libido
00:15and getting intimate several times a week,
00:17but after starting the shots, they felt almost no desire at all,
00:21with one woman not even wanting her husband to kiss her.
00:24Doctors told me this can be a common experience.
00:26GLP-1s work by mimicking hormones released in the gut after eating,
00:30helping regulate appetite and blood sugar.
00:32But those hormones also interact with the brain,
00:35including areas tied to reward and pleasure.
00:37That can mean fewer signals pushing you to seek out things like food or sex.
00:41Add in rapid weight loss, and the body can shift into a sort of conservation mode
00:45where libido takes a backseat as everything recalibrates,
00:47but it's not universal.
00:49In fact, some GLP-1 users report experiencing an increase in libido
00:53due to things like weight loss, better health, and more confidence.
00:56Women dealing with a drop in libido told me that they've tried supplements
00:59and peptide therapies to help,
01:01though one woman admitted she'd rather be thin than sexually active.
01:05Another said she got her groove back after her body adjusted to the medication.
