00:30rip fuel and, uh, and, uh, you'd just be sweating. You'd be at a party thinking like,
00:34Oh, I'm losing weight. Chicks are going to think I'm hot. Eventually. Once I stopped
00:38sweating, I'm shredded. Um, did it help you the ephedrine back? No, no, no. I got better
00:44after they banned it actually. I think so. Yeah. I could see the game more clearly. Yeah.
00:48Yeah. Yeah. It's a screws up your timing so far. So good. You seem fine this morning.
00:52I don't feel fine. Okay. Just keep faking it. I don't feel ready to go. You got this. You
00:57got this. You're so stupid. That made it out. Um, okay. Well, if you, if, if, if you're
01:06dealing with caffeine deficit here, there was nothing about the Texas trade deadline yesterday
01:11that was going to give you that artificial juice. I swear. Look, I look, I'm a caffeine addict
01:18and I did yesterday. I was walking around in a funk all day long and it's cause I had,
01:23uh, I, I guess it turns out now it's cause I usually have four or five cups of coffee
01:28a day. It would mean, uh, I had basically the equivalent of one cup of pipe, like two
01:33sips of Coke zero. And because I had this very thought I was at, I was sitting in the Walmart
01:38and the, uh, the parking lot of the Walgreens there on West timer, just trying to figure out
01:44what was wrong with me after I bought some, uh, some cold medicine and, um, and, um, I'm
01:51listening to sports radio, six, 10, talk about the, the trade deadline and all the incredible,
01:57it really was. It was one of the most notable trade deadlines we'd had in the NFL. We'll get
02:01into the fireworks. And, and I was like, ah, boy, I really, I just, I feel like I should
02:05be more worked up over this. Just can't get it going. Yeah. Hey, it was crazy, Sean.
02:10It was wild. And even now uncaffeinated, I can feel the, the, the, the craziness of
02:16the trade deadline. Did you? Okay. So when you, so the sauce gardener trade was the big
02:20one yesterday. There, there is, I will say this to Texan fans, not much to dig into, nothing
02:24at all to dig into from the trade deadline. The Texans didn't make any moves. I'm mildly
02:28surprised. There wasn't like a minor move for the, the Texans, but it, but they, they stood
02:34Pat and we can get into the reasons why they did that. I think some of it was the
02:37market. I think the, if you look at the players that got moved, especially the players that
02:41mattered, um, there was, it's, there seemed to be little to no movement at the positions
02:46the Texans would have been looking for. You know, you and I have been saying running back
02:49tight end offensive line. And there were other than your boy, Trevor Penning, Texas didn't
02:59trade a sixth for Trevor Penning. Oh gosh. No, no. I was so glad to, you know,
03:06cause I would have been here for the sit down with Seth Payne and Trevor Penning at training
03:09camp. I was so glad to see how many saints fans were just saying good riddance. The guy
03:14who made his living got drafted in the first round because some people were duped and stupid
03:19enough to fall for his little act of driving, driving people to the ground after the whistle,
03:25after he lost a rep and then still in the NFL, there'd be all these highlights of a look at
03:30Trevor Penning drop, drive this guy out of bounds. And I'm like, that's a cornerback.
03:34What are you? Of course he drove him out of bounds. He got destroyed in pass protection
03:41on the kicker. He was, he's awful. And, but I, the, the chargers are reeling. They got
03:48the Sean Slater got injured in the preseason, right? Yep. Uh, and then Joe Walt goes out and
03:53Justin Herbert has just been running for his life. Yep. Somebody pointed out that last
03:57year, Justin Herbert, while playing through a sprained ankle was, was, didn't get hit
04:03as much as this year when he's healthy. Yeah. Yeah. Cause he doesn't, doesn't have an offensive
04:06line. Yeah. And yet they're still managing to score points without offensive linemen.
04:11Go figure. Uh, the chargers are so, yeah. So the Texans didn't make any moves, not much
04:16to dig into there. The fireworks, I think the people, what the people are here for probably
04:20are like, what do we think about a, the sauce Gardner trade and B the Quinn and Williams
04:25trade. The Gardner trade is the one that ends up on the front stoop of the Texans much more
04:30imminently than anything involving the Cowboys. Although the Texans do play the Cowboys next
04:33season. Um, but sauce Gardner, I got the push note, not a push notification. I opened Twitter
04:42and first saw the news of the sauce Gardner trade. And that was definitely one where I had to check
04:48and make sure that it was, you know, Ian Rappaport and not like plea and plapa poor or something
04:53like that. Well, and especially because with the jets, I can't remember which transaction
04:57came first. It was sauce Gardner. And then Quinn reported and then Quinn and Williams,
05:00the defensive tackle. I guess when I saw the Quinn and Williams notification, I thought, okay,
05:04this is somebody just, this is somebody just making it look piling on getting rid of everybody.
05:09And like, no, they were actually getting rid of everybody. Yeah. Yeah. Sauce Gardner, very,
05:12very notable. Um, hasn't been playing as well as his typical self. I'm guessing they're going to
05:17chalk some of that up to general sadness, uh, about his situation. Yeah. And, uh, yeah, that's,
05:23uh, that's, uh, that is a very real, Hey, we are all in on this season and you're all in on Daniel
05:29Jones. Yeah. That's the big thing to me. I thought, okay. Cause here's for those who don't
05:34know the details real quick, the trade was sauce Gardner to the Colts for two firsts and wide receiver,
05:39uh, Adonai Mitchell. So they're out of the Adonai Mitchell business. They have been ever since
05:44he coughed up that game to the Rams a few weeks ago. My first thought was, wow, this is a,
05:49this is an all in move by a GM who is, is that typically one to give up high draft capital.
05:56He traded the first for DeForest Buckner a few years ago, and that's worked out really
06:00well. He's been excellent for them, but Chris Ballard is a build through the draft guy. He's
06:04not a, he's not a fireworks move guy. So you have a GM doing something atypical for him
06:11with a quarterback who they are clearly Seth now all bought in on nine games in where he
06:19looked a lot more like the old Daniel Jones than this, the first eight games. And he is
06:24by the way, on a one-year deal. Yes. So they got, they got a, they're, they're already paying
06:30sauce Gardner. I'm not, let's, we're not going to get into the salary cap stuff too much,
06:33but in terms of just being all in sauce Gardner didn't get a huge signing bonus with the jets.
06:38So they're the, the Colts are saying, yep, we're going to take on pretty much this paid
06:42very little of the contract. Yes. Yeah. There's not, the jets aren't,
06:45they didn't pay a bunch of this contract already. Yep. Um, and the big money kicks in next year.
06:50So they're paying a bunch of the, they're paying a lot. Uh, they gave up a first and a second
06:56of two firsts, two firsts, two firsts, two firsts. Yep. Um, they got two firsts for
07:02Donna blend and, uh, the, but Daniel Jones is going to get paid too. I do, right? Yeah,
07:09they've got to, well, it's one of two things. Either, either the season plays out the way
07:13the Colts think it's going to, and then you got to pay Daniel Jones and you got to pay.
07:16And if, and if guys like Tua and Trevor Lawrence are getting 53, 55 million, that's the name.
07:20Daniel Jones has already lived in the $40 million neighborhood on his first contract with a giant.
07:25So he's been here before. So it's one of two things is going to happen. Either they're going to have
07:29to pay Daniel Jones at the end of the year or Daniel Jones turns back into a pumpkin. And now
07:34you are pot committed salary wise and draft pick wise to this roster. And you still need to find
07:41a quarter draft picks to go out and find that quarter. Yeah. Or, you know, potentially trade
07:46for an aging veteran or something like that. Like they, like this is an all in move where they
07:51have to win a super bowl. Oh, I hope it all just blows up in their stupid faces. I hope they take it
07:56out. And it blows up alongside all of their math.
08:01We'll see sauce not once, but twice between now and the end of the year. Texans still
08:05play him twice. They'll have something to say about that. That was huge.
08:09That was big. The sauce Carter and Quinn and Williams. And you pointed this out by and
08:14large, the vast majority of the big trades yesterday were defensive players for the Texans
08:19right now to have like say gone in on Quinn and Williams. It wouldn't have felt right
08:24because as much as God, as much as you wanted to, D'Amico would love to have a stud defensive
08:29tackle like that. But the, what are you going to go? You're going to go from the number
08:32one scoring defense all the way up to the number one scoring. So in terms of just, if you're
08:38going to spend a boatload of money or assets at this point, it would be to fix the offense
08:42and it just didn't look like that trade was out there.
08:44It would have been fun. It would have been fun if the Texans offense were actually decent
08:49this year. And if, which I think if they were decent instead of three and five, I think
08:54they, they'd be easily five and three, maybe six and two. If the Texans were six and two,
08:58like the Colts are seven and two, if they were in that mix, like the Colts are, and
09:03they had a mentality of like, look, you know, smoke them. If you got them, let's put a finishing
09:08touch on this thing. We believe in this team. And then they would have got Quinn and Williams
09:12for this defense. Oh, dude. Yeah. That would have been fun. But, but that's not where we
09:17live right now going up against a, probably the best rushing offense in the league. Jacks.
09:22Yeah. Yeah. Excuse me. Excuse me. I'm thinking about the Colts still. Nevermind. Oh, not this
09:27week, but in the upcoming game versus when you play the Colts. Yeah, that's true. That
09:31would have been, that would have been fun. Um, so, uh, so that was, that was, uh, so that
09:36was, yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't know. I was wondering what you were doing and I'm like,
09:42Oh yeah, I forgot. There's coffee in those boxes.
09:44K cup for the Pike place has between 75 and 150 milligrams. I don't want people to worry
09:49about me when I was citing that 300 milligrams. You're just coughing down caffeine. That's
09:53like, if you go to get the, the venti, it's Oh, I got you. I got you. Um, so the sauce
10:00gardener trade is huge. I'm curious how Texan fans feel. Um, you know, sauce gardener, this
10:04is not a rental. This, you know, sauce gardener is in the division now, which makes the sauce
10:09versus Stingley thing kind of fun. Um, but how are you feeling about that? I am curious
10:14how Texan fans, if you want to text in seven, one, three, five, seven, two, four, six, 10
10:18about the Texans lack of activity. I saw a lot of Texans Twitter. Oh, they're sitting
10:22on their hands. Oh, they're not doing anything. The positions that Texans need. Nobody did
10:27anything yesterday. I I'm curious what the market looks like. All right. The Quinn and
10:31Williams trade doesn't really impact the Texans very much at all. It's the Cowboys and the
10:36jets making the deal. I mean, the jets are loaded with draft picks now. Maybe
10:39that maybe cause they're in the AFC. Maybe that'll matter at some point. It is the jets
10:44making these picks. So we need to point that out. Um, Jerry Jones is in total YOLO mode right
10:50now. And he said, we got to find this audio. He said on one Oh five three yesterday, our
10:55sister station, Seth, uh, the fan up in Dallas, he goes on there every Tuesday and he said something
11:01to the effect of like my tomorrows aren't promised. You know, I got, I'm getting old. He
11:06a paraphrase. I'm getting old and I need to make big moves. What did you think? Cause I
11:11think the Quinn and Williams trade is they're three, five in one this year. I don't think
11:16they're making the Quinn and Williams trades. I do think that they feel like with Dak Prescott,
11:22we've got our quarterback. So we're always going to be, we're always going to have a decent
11:25offense. I feel like the Quinn and Williams deal. He's under contract for a couple more
11:29years is more about 26 and 27 maybe than it is. And you got the extra draft picks from
11:35the Micah Parsons deal. Yeah. It's for 26 and 27 and it's still, but then that begs
11:41the question. All right. You're spending a whole lot of draft picks for a guy who only
11:45has two years left on his deal. It's like when I say 26 and 27, he's got two years left
11:51on his deal. You gave up a first and a second, two contracts where you have six years, six
11:57and five years of control of a guy. There's a four years. It's four and five for a first
12:01round. Plus the, plus the franchise tag and everything. But so four and five years of control
12:08on, at a discount for a guy that you've got, you've got for younger years now. Yeah. And
12:14it will be an aging defensive tackle. Like he's still young and in his prime, he's below 30.
12:19It's like, is this going to make the Cowboys a good defense? No, it will not. They weren't
12:23a good defense last year when they had Micah Parsons. And it's just, it's funny because
12:27Jerry gave the whole big speech about how, well, I'd rather have six players than just
12:31one with Micah Parsons. All right. Well, he just brought in a guy that costs as much as
12:36three or four players and you're only going to have him for two years. This is why you can
12:40never listen to Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones was touting all the picks and all the cap space
12:44he was going to have. He immediately went and used the cap space. I'm not going to
12:48say blew the cap space, but he used it on guys that were tier two guys on his team.
12:53So he did do that. Jake Ferguson, a few other guys. He spread the money around to
12:56Deron guys. But like, we got all these picks and they just like six weeks later to eight
13:04weeks later, he flips the picks for Quentin Williams. Yeah. You know, it's just Jerry Jones
13:08is all over the place. And then you got the jets. Okay. So your, your guy, Aaron Glenn now
13:14has five first round picks over the next day. He's not the GM. He's the question is, okay.
13:18Is Aaron Glenn, is this the kind of thing that signals that Aaron Glenn's going to get fired
13:22or is it an endorsement of, okay, we're going to give Aaron Glenn as much runway as possible
13:27and as many assets to turn this. Here's my analogy on that. And I know the jets are a different
13:32ownership than the Texans are. And, but I do think they probably feel similarly about Aaron Glenn
13:36as the Texans did D'Amico Ryan's. I've, when they made these trades yesterday, I felt good
13:42for Aaron Glenn. I felt like Aaron Glenn's probably been in there, you know, he's been in there
13:45almost a year now and has probably had some hard conversations about what this roster really
13:50looks like and what really needs to happen in order for this team to get moving in the direction
13:55and put his input and put his imprint on the team. I actually thought this is good. They're
14:00going to, this is going to be an Aaron Glenn reset now. And the analogy I would make,
14:04I would equate this to if, if D'Amico Ryan's had gotten here in 2022, instead of 2023, where
14:11the Texans really still didn't fully have, you know, all the draft capital to go get and
14:16do what they need. They didn't have a quarterback yet. It was a bad team still. If they had gone
14:20from David Cully to D'Amico Ryan's, instead of that holdover year with Lovie Smith, I think
14:25it would have been a terrible year for the Texans because Davis Mills probably would have been
14:28the starting quarterback that year, or they would have drafted somebody out of that horrible
14:322022 quarterback draft class where Kenny Pickett was the only first round pick. And
14:39I think the hard conversations would have been, all right, well, we need to stockpile some draft
14:44picks. They would have had some leftover from the Deshaun Watson trade. And then I think
14:47they would have said, okay, let's reset. And D'Amico, you put your imprint on this team.
14:52Instead, D'Amico came here a year later and it was in a much more functional spot. But I think
14:56that's, that's what I'm guessing is happening with Aaron Glenn and the Jets, because I think
15:00he's a friend, you know, he's a franchise icon might be exaggerating it, but he's clearly
15:05a very well-respected former Pro Bowl New York. Yeah. He's a kind of the prodigal son.
15:09He's a family. He's part of their family. He's part of the family. The, yeah, the, uh, the,
15:14the Jets, the biggest kind of comedy part of all of that is that they traded away Quinn and
15:18Williams. Very good player. Sauce Gardner, very good player for, for very Jets type of
15:24player in AD Mitchell. A guy that just, just can't get out of his own way. It seems that,
15:30all right, let's, uh, let's try to stabilize. We'll think about the future and everything,
15:33but at the same time, let's bring in a guy that just can't, just can't seem to get right.
15:38Yeah. Yeah, man. Yeah. It was wild yesterday. Those that's two crazy trades real quick in the
15:44division. Jacoby Myers goes to the Jags for a fourth and a six. Key Jacoby Myers stat is he's
15:51got the fewest number of drops over the last several seasons. He's tied for fewest number
15:56of drops. He's going to a team that is leading the league in drops by wide receivers. Oh yeah.
16:01Yeah. Brian Thomas Jr. He's got nine of them already, but they're, they're, they're dropping
16:05the balls all over, all over the place. Yep. I choose. I blamed, honestly, I blame Trevor Lawrence.
16:10I think it's just a, it's a inconsistency and he probably throws a hard to catch ball.
16:14He probably, that's, that's, I'm going to, I'm going to pretend I'm one of those guys that
16:19will be Myers weekend. I would imagine. Give him about 10 or 15 snaps out there that he,
16:23you know, he's got to get the playbook. Yeah. So that's Jags tech.
