00:00Cybersecurity experts have urged the government to ban the use of China's artificial intelligence
00:06system, DeepSeq, in the public sector for processes involving sensitive data and critical
00:11workflows.
00:13They said this was crucial for data security and privacy, particularly in government infrastructure
00:19that manages information vital to national security and sovereignty.
00:24Samir Kumar of University Malaya said DeepSeq experienced a data breach early last year,
00:30with over 1 million log entries and chat histories found on a public database that did not require
00:37authentication.
00:38He said the incident had damaged the Chinese platform's credibility, although it was primarily
00:44due to a database misconfiguration, adding that similar breaches have been reported in
00:50other AI systems.
00:51Feng Chengfuk, founder of security firm LGMS, warned that civil servants could inadvertently
00:58input sensitive information into chatbots, which might then be processed or stored overseas
01:04and used to train AI models.
01:07He suggested banning DeepSeq in national security agencies, law enforcement and other critical
01:13infrastructure, as well as departments that handle the sensitive citizen data.
