00:00RFK Jr. is suddenly totally fine with Roundup weed killer
00:03and his supporters are very confused.
00:05A few years back when he was an environmental lawyer,
00:08Kennedy won a $289 million case for a man who said Roundup,
00:12or more specifically, the glyphosate in it caused his cancer.
00:16And that case was a huge deal.
00:18People were aware of the stigmas
00:19that surrounded Roundup and glyphosates,
00:21but this 2018 case really put it into perspective.
00:24So fast forward to now
00:25and he's health and human services secretary
00:27and he's backing President Trump's new executive order
00:30that protects glyphosate manufacturers.
00:32And this order dropped one day after Bayer,
00:35the company that owns Monsanto who makes Roundup,
00:37offered $7.2 billion to settle thousands
00:40of Roundup cancer lawsuits.
00:42So yeah, people are raising eyebrows.
00:44Trump's order says the US needs glyphosate
00:46for farming and national security
00:48and even gives these companies limited immunity
00:50to future lawsuits.
00:51And RFK Jr. says he supports it
00:53because America relies heavily on pesticides
00:56and pulling them too fast could crash crop yields
00:58and raise food prices.
01:00But the Make America Healthy Again movement,
01:02the Maha Moms who usually back
01:04both Trump and Kennedy are furious.
01:06They argue that this order
01:07only protects chemical companies, not families.
01:11So here's the big question.
01:12Is RFK Jr. being practical
01:14or did he just betray the movement
01:15that helped put him on the map?
