00:00It is 5 o'clock. Congratulations. Hopefully you're off work. Luckily for you, old dirty show and T-Mill, a
00:08.k.a. Psycho T, have the latest and the latest is you got a chance in the 5 o'clock
00:14hour to be right there with Tyler Milner and whoever he drags with you.
00:21Oh, yeah. If you don't know what that is, that's Creed. And maybe you knew that was Creed. That's coming
00:29up in this hour. 5 o'clock hour, the final opportunity of the day right here on Sports Radio 610.
00:37And on the drive, we hooked. Who do we hook up in the 3 o'clock hour?
00:41Our guy Jonathan from La Porte. Oh, OK. I see you, Jonathan. Jonathan won him a 4. I know you.
00:48I tried to pause it for you. You came a little later on that east side than I thought you
00:51would. But congratulations to him. He won a 4-pack in the 3 o'clock hour. You have a chance
00:56to do it in the 5 o'clock hour. You got to stay tuned in with us for that cue
01:01to call. We'll give you that cue and then you got a chance to win the final 4-pack of
01:06tickets of the day.
01:07Thursday. Thursday, we will hook you up with another chance to win tickets. But Creed here coming up now in
01:15the 5 o'clock hour.
01:18All right. Tyler, will Megan go with you? I was wondering that, too. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. She was there
01:23with me in the Woodlands. She'll be there again at the rodeo.
01:25Like, is she fired up to go see Creed? Or does she go see Creed because you want to go
01:29see Creed?
01:30Yeah, it's mainly for me. But she enjoys a few of their tunes.
01:35Like, would she go to Creed if you weren't? Like, would she go buy tickets to see Creed?
01:41No. Most likely not. Yeah. But we're going with the same couple we went last year to the Woodlands with.
01:46We're going with that same couple to see them at the rodeo. It should be a good time.
01:49Okay. Well, all right. Well, have your fun and you can have fun with Tyler.
01:54He'll be a little nasally on Thursday. Good for him.
01:57Oh, after that concert? Oh, yeah. Yeah, Creed will have me nasally.
02:00I hear lately I kind of made a commitment personally to myself to when I know Tyler's going out,
02:05despite if I'm with him or not, I want to try to match him.
02:09Oh, I like it. And I want to come in a little nasally with him.
02:12It's that competitive nature.
02:13I did not know that he was going to get that deep that one night, so I was upset.
02:18Could be a rough Wednesday night for you, bud.
02:22Just sit back and slamming him with the crib.
02:24Well, heads up, this Wednesday, too, I know I'm going to steak night with some fellows.
02:28All right. Wednesday, get drunk? All right. I got you. I got it.
02:31All right. Wednesday, get drunk.
02:32Can't be in Mexico.
02:34There we go. That sucks.
02:36Quickly was able to turn that steak night around, didn't he?
02:39Do you make like steak night is all-encompassing of like, I'm getting busted?
02:44Not necessarily busted. This one probably will be.
02:47But I'm always going to have at least one or two.
02:50This is starting at steak night, but it is not ending in the same venue.
02:54I'm just wondering. It's been a while since I made my dinner plans and just said hell with it, man.
02:58Has it?
02:59I'm going to dinner, but I am getting obliterated.
03:03I told you last Friday I was getting, or maybe it was two Fridays ago, I was getting trash, and
03:07I did.
03:08Hell yeah.
03:08I woke up with a headache out of this world, but I'm messing up.
03:12I'm at softball.
03:12I'm in a baseball practice at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning in a fight with a hood, with a
03:18hood on my head.
03:19Yes, yeah.
03:20Hurt.
03:20And mad because they're squaring off second base instead of rounding it, huh?
03:24Oh, yeah.
03:25Hey, I wasn't even looking that time.
03:26You didn't give a rip.
03:27I just hit a hood on.
03:29All right, Joe Mixon, the Joe Mixon situation.
03:32We have found some new information.
03:36Let's hear from Nick Casario, and then I want to fill you in what Aaron Wilson is reporting.
03:40But this is Nick Casario at the Combine giving us an update on Joe Mixon.
03:46We've talked to Joe and his representative, so honestly, it's day-to-day.
03:53So we've got conversations, trying to get a little bit more information.
03:57You know, I think he had a surgery here this offseason, some capacity.
04:02So, you know, trying to get some follow-up after that.
04:04So, again, I've said this multiple times.
04:07I'm not trying to be evasive.
04:08It's a moving target.
04:09So we'll kind of see what the availability is going to be, what the prognosis is for the season,
04:14and then ultimately try to figure out, like, what makes sense for everybody involved.
04:19All right, that's Nick Casario wanting to kind of letting us know there was a surgery with Joe Mixon
04:29and giving us some more information, said it was a moving target.
04:32This, Clint, is from Aaron Wilson, who covers the Texans.
04:37He said the Texans are expected to explore high-end free agent running back market.
04:43I want to talk about that a little bit later on in the show.
04:46But also, Nick Casario discloses Joe Mixon's offseason surgery, and this is the kicker.
04:52The Texans are expected to ultimately part ways with Joe Mixon per league sources
04:58and release him from his three-year $27 million contract.
05:03They will save $8.5 million.
05:06So the way that Aaron Wilson is reporting this, now, Casario didn't say that in that clip,
05:13but the way he is reporting it, and I don't think this is probably BS,
05:19it looks like they're going to part ways with Joe Mixon.
05:22Well, look, it wouldn't shock me one bit.
05:24I don't think that how vague the organization, whether it's D'Amico or Nick Casario,
05:30I don't think they're being vague to protect the player.
05:34I think they're being vague because they literally don't know.
05:37I think it is absolutely wild to have a running back under contract
05:41that you just paid $8 million to $10 million this past year to stay injured
05:46and stay away ultimately, and now you've got $8.5 million on the line,
05:51at least that you can save.
05:53I'm not looking at his contract, so maybe more than that.
05:56You've got a guy under contract, and literally Nick Casario just said,
06:02I think he had a surgery of some sort this offseason.
06:06We're trying to get some more info on that.
06:10Have you guys heard anything?
06:12I mean, is that not the damn thing?
06:15That's how D'Amico was during the year.
06:17He had never heard.
06:18Joe Mixon, who the hell is that?
06:20Right, right.
06:20I've got to believe that I think Nick is being serious there.
06:24I mean, he scratched his damn cheek when he was saying that on the video.
06:27I don't think he's protecting the player and trying to keep it out of the news.
06:34I think he's dead-ass serious.
06:36He's like, we ain't real sure what is going on with a guy that's under contract
06:42for another year, a guy that we paid $27 million for three years.
06:46We got one good year out of him, and he's still under contract,
06:49and we still are trying to get more info on a surgery that occurred
06:52that you think occurred.
06:54Like, the only thing that makes this Joe Mixon,
06:57and it's unfortunate because as a Texans fan, I want Joe Mixon to be a –
07:01I want a Joe Mixon caliber running back with this team more than I want anything.
07:05But the only thing that makes all of this make sense,
07:09and I'm talking about what the coach has said, what the general manager has said,
07:12what people have said around –
07:13the only thing that makes it make sense is if they cut bait with Joe Mixon.
07:18Yeah.
07:18I mean, you cannot seriously –
07:20There's no way, yeah, that you've got this kind of a commitment financially,
07:24and, hell, Joe Mixon, if he's healthy, if he's in your plans,
07:28he's your second-best offensive threat.
07:30Yeah, but you –
07:31But, Ryan, you can't –
07:31To not know that when he's having surgery.
07:33Could you imagine being Joe Mixon and you've got $8 to $10 million on the line
07:37and 8.5 of it's not guaranteed,
07:40and the general manager that gave it to you is literally saying,
07:44yeah, man, we're just trying to get more information on what that surgery looked like.
07:47Like, I mean, if you're Joe Mixon, you've got to be kidding me.
07:51Yeah.
07:52I mean, if you're Joe Mixon's representation and he even has a chance of playing again,
07:58you've got to at least give information.
08:00Like, this is the damnedest thing I've seen from literally OTAs when we went over there
08:04and we found out about all this.
08:05It's the damnedest thing, and the only thing that's going to make Nick and D'Amico not look silly
08:11is if they just cut and move on from Joe Mixon.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Well, according to Aaron Wilson, that is what is happening.
08:20So, that is the latest there.
08:21We found out Joe Mixon had surgery, and according to Aaron Wilson,
08:25we found out that they could part ways.
08:27Also, I do want to state that Nick Casario did say the surgery was nothing from him doing anything irresponsible.
08:36It was a medical thing that I don't think they went the way they thought it would.
08:42We don't know about the surgery, but we have been assured that he wasn't doing anything
08:47that would violate his contract or void his contract.
08:50So, many of you sending in things of he got shot.
08:53I don't know if that fits.
08:54I would assume that does if he shot himself.
08:57Yeah, I don't know, man.
08:58I feel like if he shot himself, I think this is –
09:00I feel like if you read between the lines what Nick Casario is saying is
09:04we have not been able to find anything that would allow us to void his contract last year
09:08and recoup that money, but we don't have any idea about the surgery.
09:13They don't even know he has surgery.
09:14So, that is the latest there with Joe Mixon.
09:16Guys, it's 610 to talk about on the radio.
09:19Five o'clock fire.
09:20Again, Nick, man, I'm ready to bury the hatchet, man.
09:24I'd like to go out for some yogurt.
09:25I will do it.
09:26I'm not eating dairy right now, but I'd like to join you.
09:29Let's just do this thing, man.
09:33Let's just hang out a little bit.
09:35Speaking of Nick Casario at the combine, he went ahead and I think
09:40tried to end all of the – is C.J. Stroud going to get traded?
09:46Is he going somewhere else?
09:48Is he going to be with another team?
09:49Are they looking to move him?
09:50Is Davis Mills ready to take over?
09:52Are they going to do something else?
09:53Here is Nick Casario at the combine pretty much slamming the door shut to the C.J. Stroud
10:02being traded conversation.
10:04Yeah, he's our quarterback.
10:05He ain't going anywhere.
10:06We have a lot of confidence, a lot of belief.
10:08I mean, I'd say the philosophy that D'Amico and I have, we're going to support our players
10:10and do everything we can to kind of help them.
10:13And this league's about ups and downs.
10:14I mean, nothing's perfect.
10:15I mean, there was no team that was undefeated unless I missed something this year.
10:18So that's not going to happen.
10:19You know, by and large, you're probably going to lose five or six games.
10:23There's going to be some margin on either side.
10:25You're going to have some good plays.
10:26You're going to have some bad plays.
10:27You're going to have some good games.
10:28You're going to have some bad games.
10:29Okay, how do you bounce back?
10:30How do you handle that?
10:31So it's just – I mean, this league is a one-game-at-a-time proposition.
10:34And how you handle every situation ultimately is going to determine your success
10:39and your longevity.
10:40So no loss – I mean, look, the stock market's been going down for five days.
10:43So everybody's probably panic selling.
10:45So, you know, really what you're doing is you're going to be investing more.
10:48So, but anyways, we have a lot of confidence in C.J.
10:50We've got a lot of confidence in our players, and I'm glad he's our quarterback.
10:53All right, here coming up in about ten minutes or so,
10:57I want to play some audio where I think Nick Casario kind of lets us into the thinking
11:04of how they're handling C.J. Stroud even further from this.
11:07But, Clint, when you hear, to me, very matter-of-fact of what they're thinking,
11:12he's not going anywhere.
11:13He's going to be our starting quarterback.
11:16Your thoughts – because I know you felt a certain way about it,
11:18but your thoughts on how they're going about – and it looks like C.J. Stroud,
11:23that part is done.
11:24That part of – he's the – any kind of controversy.
11:27Yeah, look, there's another piece of audio out there that I think is even more convincing,
11:30but you put the two of them together, and it doesn't – you know,
11:33it's pretty convincing.
11:34Now, I said earlier, look, I mean, these guys were stroking Laramie Tunsil
11:38before they got out of the Laramie Tunsil business.
11:40These guys were telling us that Bobby Slowick was the best thing since sliced bread
11:46before they split ways with him.
11:49And so, I don't know that I look a whole hell of a lot into the fact
11:52that they're stroking a player to whether they're going to keep him or not.
11:54But when I heard those – the couple of pieces of audio that are out there from Nick,
11:59it's pretty convincing.
12:00It's pretty convincing.
12:01It looks like, at least from the quarterback perspective
12:05and the offensive play caller perspective, according to Nick Casario,
12:09they're going to run this thing back.
12:10Now, I do – I see some responses about, well, you know, I mean,
12:14Nick is obviously going to talk up the quarterback even if they wanted to trade him
12:18just to keep the value higher.
12:19I hear you, but that don't seem like a we're going to keep the value high
12:23to make a move type of comments by Nick today.
12:26I agree that it's pretty convincing.
12:29And to me, I'm glad they didn't make this a lingering story.
12:35There are times where, you know, the Texans can do stuff, Clinton,
12:39and it's just like, all right, man, we're going to bury our head in the sand.
12:42This is what we do.
12:43We don't care what other people are saying on the outside.
12:46And now, this is not something CJ's dealing with.
12:49This is not something the team's dealing with.
12:51Like, they have nipped this in the bud.
12:54To me, after everything they've said today, day one, you can almost argue this day one
12:59of the offseason when we first hear from them at the combine, they have said,
13:02the CJ Stroud thing, I mean, it's moronic.
13:06It's stupid.
13:07Stop it.
13:08He's not getting traded.
13:09Now it is, all right, how do we fix and get him back to being the quarterback
13:14we know he can be, and what do we put around him?
13:17That's the conversation.
13:19None of this, was Davis Mills the guy?
13:21Is there going to be a competition?
13:23Is it?
13:23No.
13:23He's their quarterback, and I'm glad they didn't throw any more flames to the fire
13:28of that.
13:30Well, I mean, if you take Nick Casario at his word, boy, you've got to like how he's
13:34operating this offseason.
13:36I mean, D'Amico wouldn't commit to Nick Kaley, and a week later, a couple days later,
13:40Nick Casario said, no, I'd expect Nick Kaley to be here.
13:42You know, there's been a lot of noise around CJ Stroud, and the first time he gets in front
13:45of the media, it's very convincing.
13:47Nah, CJ's going to be our guy.
13:49We love CJ moving forward.
13:50He's going to be our quarterback.
13:51So, you've got to like how Nick Casario's moving this offseason.
13:55At least he's committing to his guys.
13:59Five o'clock fire.
14:01All right, also in the NFL, Eagles head coach Nick Ceriani.
14:07Clint said, can't guarantee that A.J. Brown will be back with the Eagles this season.
14:13I mean, that's over, right?
14:16Like, we've answered that question now with that.
14:19Like, with A.J. Brown, that type of dude, with this, if you're coming out, like, that's
14:24where you're rolling.
14:25Can't say he's a guarantee, even if it is the truth.
14:27Like, there's other ways to go about this.
14:30And I think everybody probably needs a break from this and a move from this.
14:35And this makes sense.
14:36And I think this, in some ways, obviously, he's a great player, and they don't become
14:41more talented, but I think maybe if you even look at what happened with Buffalo and Josh
14:48Allen and Diggs and that, that just seemed to be too much.
14:52And they got better as a team with that.
14:55Now, Josh Allen, I'm not saying it hurts as Josh Allen, but this feels like a move that
14:59needs to be made.
15:00Look, I mean, you can love or hate A.J. Brown.
15:02Clearly, he's a good player.
15:04But I think it's fair to say that he's a player that you want to rent to, you don't want
15:09to
15:10sell a spot to.
15:11I mean, I think he is a player that really rubs and rubs and rubs and wears out his welcome
15:18really quick.
15:19I mean, the fact, some of the, I mean, there's been a couple of things in my career, in my
15:23career, my media career here, Ron, here and other places over the years that have shocked
15:28me, but the normalization of Bill Belichick hiring a defensive coordinator as his offensive
15:33play caller is one.
15:35And number two, people normalizing and minimizing A.J. Brown reading a book on a damn sideline.
15:43I mean, and people are in a big deal.
15:44No, I mean, it is, it is, it is ridiculous.
15:49It's silly as hell.
15:51It, that is a situation that is just, I mean, you got to move on from it, man.
15:56It's, it's, I think it's ran its course, great player, had some success.
16:00All right, let's move on from him.
16:01Absolutely.
16:02Yeah.
16:03Yeah.
16:03I think, yeah, it, this, this makes sense.
16:05This is, I mean, I heard a deal.
16:07When you say, when you say, but when you say that, it's, it's an A.J., it's when you,
16:11when you have A.J., he was on with Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman and he hit him with
16:17that, you're going to be a Patriot.
16:19And then with that wink and then combined with, I don't know if you're going to be a, no, it's
16:23open.
16:23I'm glad you brought that interview up too.
16:25I thought one of the most interesting parts of that particular interview, Ron, he said
16:30in a, this, he's in the NFL.
16:32I don't, and don't give me the whole, he's young kind of, he's in the NFL.
16:35He is in meetings, taking, acting like he's taking notes and he's writing, I hate Vrabel
16:42on his, on his, in his notepad, the head coach of the team he's playing for.
16:46That's the guy you're dealing with.
16:47That is the guy you're dealing with.
16:49And, and admittedly going, oh, I just wanted him to think that I was taking notes.
16:52And the whole time I was writing, I hate Vrabel in my notebook, Mike Vrabel, because I didn't
16:58think, I didn't think Mike Vrabel liked me.
17:00And now I know he was trying to get the best, but I didn't think he, you're a grown ass
17:04man.
17:04It was young.
17:05No, Ron, he's not.
17:07He's a grown ass man.
17:09I mean, are you kidding me?
17:11Sounds like me scribbling in my third grade notebook about how much I hated the teacher.
17:15Yes.
17:15Yes.
17:16I did it all the time.
17:16I mean, it's unbelievable.
17:17Yeah.
17:18You click key.
17:19You did it.
17:19I don't think you were doing it at 20.
17:21I better, I better hide my notebook.
17:24I hate the head coach guys out there.
17:26First round draft pick making millions of dollars.
17:29I mean, I hate the head coach.
17:31Are you, that's the guy you're dealing with.
17:32That's the guy that everybody's going, oh, it's no big deal.
17:34He's reading a book on the sideline.
17:36Come on, man.
17:37I hate Vrabel.
17:40I hate Vrabel.
17:43I hate Vrabel.
17:43Where was that?
17:44That's where mine is.
17:45The NFL awards this year.
17:47My notebook says I hate Vrabel.
17:50Vrabel, the guy that was in for me yesterday.
17:52Yeah, that guy.
17:53Damn, he's nice.
17:55Him, that Vrabel.
17:56Nice kid.
17:57He turned on Vrabel.
17:58He turned on me.
17:58He turned on Vrabel and Reginald Atatouli yesterday.
18:03Well, they gave me good reason to.
18:05Oh, no.
18:06Ridiculous.
18:06T-Mills best bets coming up.
