00:00Oh, girl.
00:03Them.
00:07Yeah, you could really...
00:09You think this one makes the playlist?
00:11Oh, yeah.
00:12This is usually what they open up the set with.
00:14They come in hard with this.
00:15Oh, I forgot.
00:16Tyler's a guy that goes and finds the set list.
00:19He finds the set list.
00:21I remember you did this with Shania Twain.
00:24You wouldn't hunt it down the set list so you knew what was coming.
00:28I was baffled when...
00:30I just want to be surprised.
00:32I want to get ripped up out my seat.
00:35But how do you know when to go get your next adult beverage?
00:38You just don't.
00:38I mean, you got to...
00:40That's my main reasoning.
00:42A key to experienced concert goers, you look up the set list so you know whenever they're going to get
00:48to a tune,
00:49you don't necessarily want to see live or need to see live, and then you run and refill.
00:54So, what's the run and refill drinks on the Creed?
00:58What's the set list?
00:59It's tough.
01:00They're all bangers.
01:01Yeah.
01:02I mean, all they do is make hits, so it makes it a little harder.
01:05But that's even more reason to know, so you can pick just the very least favorite and go refill your
01:10beer whenever those songs are being played.
01:12You don't want to miss this one opening up, though.
01:15Yeah.
01:15Coming up in the 3 o'clock hour, this one right here, you got to be there.
01:18No getting drinks here.
01:23I think I could find a couple ones where I could step off to go get an adult.
01:26You think so?
01:27There might be a couple.
01:28I know you're right, though.
01:29There's some bangers, but I think I might be able to find a couple where I step out.
01:34That's fair.
01:35But many of you, you got your chance in this hour, so you got to be listening.
01:39At some point, you never know, we will jump in there, and we'll give you the cue to call, and
01:46you can call,
01:46and the phone lines will be open, and Tyler will take care of you, and you can win a four
01:49-pack of tickets.
01:50We're also doing that in the 5 o'clock hour, so stay tuned with us for that.
01:56All right.
01:58Clint, we just heard this news.
01:59If you missed this report coming from Pro Football Focus, but this coming from Aaron Wilson,
02:07who obviously covers the Texans locally here, he was entitled,
02:14Joe Mixon recently underwent surgery, according to Nick Casario, and his future is unknown, but not just unknown.
02:21It was also, Clint reported, that due to a failed physical, it looks like the Texans are going to potentially
02:30release Joe Mixon,
02:31and if they do release Joe Mixon, Clint, it will save them $8.5 million,
02:36and it looks like it is heading towards that space,
02:41and I had already wanted to get into a conversation about the running back position
02:46based off what Nick Casario said earlier today,
02:49and I still think we should hear what Nick Casario said earlier today,
02:53because it's interesting.
02:55Yesterday, you were saying this team needs to be aggressive at the running back position,
02:59and I remember at some point, I'm trying to narrow it down,
03:03but what absolutely means aggressive?
03:07What would be the move?
03:08Who would be the type of guy you're looking at?
03:10Now that we know potentially Joe Mixon is out of the picture,
03:14and let's hear from Nick Casario.
03:16Here was Nick Casario on the state of the running back room right now for the Texans.
03:21Paul, I mean, Nick's a free agent,
03:22so we've got three guys under contract right now.
03:25We've got Woody, you know, coming back.
03:27We've got a good year.
03:28He's a leading rusher, so I mean, perfectly, that's pretty good.
03:31Joe R. Jordan's under contract.
03:33Brady's under contract.
03:34Darryl's a free agent.
03:34Nick Sheldon's a free agent.
03:35So, I mean, we've only got three guys that are on the team currently.
03:39We're probably going to have more than three players on the team.
03:40So, you know, where did that player come from?
03:43Free agency could be one mechanism.
03:45Draft could be another mechanism.
03:46Is there a trade market for somebody out there?
03:48So that's kind of where we are for today.
03:51I know you didn't love the route he was going there.
03:57Obviously, he knows about the Joe Mixon situation right there
04:00and didn't even really go into that space.
04:02But hopefully, now that they know Joe Mixon is out of there,
04:08potentially, Clint, that they know they've got to make a move.
04:11I hope so.
04:11I mean, look, I just – I think it's a sobering reality.
04:15If you're a Texans fan and you hear your general manager say that right there,
04:19what the hell do you think they need to do?
04:20I mean, it makes me feel really good about strongly suggesting
04:23that they need to be aggressive at the running back position.
04:26It makes me feel really good about, for the last month,
04:29talking about, boy, the running back position is the place
04:32where they need to upgrade in a big, big way.
04:35The running back position is the best, the quickest way
04:37to make your O-line better, your quarterback better,
04:39your pass game better.
04:41Hell, to be honest with you, you play caller better.
04:43A running back is the best way to make your head coach happy,
04:46your defensive-minded head coach happy.
04:47A running back is the best way to play into your defense being your strength.
04:53And so, hell, this makes me feel a lot better about it
04:56because as a Texans fan, when I hear the general manager talk about
04:59Woody Marks, Jawar Jordan, and British Brooks
05:01are the running backs right now that are in uniform.
05:03Well, that just can't be it.
05:04Boy, that can't be it.
05:05Hell, no, it can't be it.
05:06That can't be the plan.
05:07No.
05:07Not for what they want to do.
05:08No, it can't be it.
05:10And it can't be it.
05:11I'm not – look, the reason I'm –
05:13you know, I'm where I'm at with the running back room is
05:15I like Woody Marks.
05:17Woody Marks is not a lead back.
05:20Woody Marks is not a guy that you go into a season with
05:23and go, this is our guy.
05:25We're going to lean into Woody Marks.
05:26We're going to depend on Woody Marks to get our run game going.
05:29He's not that guy.
05:30Woody Marks is a better third down back.
05:32Woody Marks is a better change of pace back.
05:35Woody Marks is a better guy that you're going to put in position
05:37to pass, protect, and catch the football out of the backfield.
05:40And, I mean, the reality of it is, is, boy, that –
05:45I mean, I was hell-bent on them needing to be aggressive.
05:48And then when I heard – I'd never really thought about it
05:50from a stance of, you know, Nick Chubb's gone.
05:53Daria Gumbawale's gone.
05:55Joe Mixon, as of today, looks like –
05:57I mean, the reports are he's going to get cut.
05:59And so that's trending to him being out the door.
06:02Man, I mean, that running back room is bare, son.
06:05For a team with this offensive line
06:07and for a team that wants to lean into the run-the-football-play-defense
06:12mode of winning, that has to improve significantly immediately.
06:18See, that's the thing that I think should be exciting is,
06:24as you said, this is what they want to do.
06:26They want to run the football, right?
06:29This is a smart group.
06:31There is no way they're thinking,
06:32we're going to want to run the football.
06:35Like, obviously, they're going to add another back.
06:37You just look at the numbers.
06:38They're going to add another back.
06:40But I'm assuming, Clint, they're adding another back
06:44is not like adding another back with the thought
06:47that Woody Marks is the one.
06:50Like, I would assume that their thought is adding another back
06:57that maybe is the back that is the one that Woody compliments, right?
07:02That has to be the case, right?
07:03Well, nothing's going to surprise me with this group.
07:05But, I mean, that's why, look, here's the deal.
07:09I believe you've got to be aggressive.
07:11And Nick Casario just rattled off all the different ways
07:13that you can acquire a football player in the NFL, right?
07:18I mean, you're sitting at 28.
07:20There's really not but one running back in this draft
07:22that I would say is a plug-and-play, that's your dude,
07:26changes the offense, and that's Jeremiah Love out of Notre Dame.
07:29You're not getting him if you're sitting steady at 28.
07:31You're not getting him without giving up some serious draft capital
07:34to climb significantly, all right, number one.
07:36Number two, you look at the free agent market.
07:38We talked about it yesterday, all right?
07:41Williams is going back to the Cowboys.
07:43It looks like ETN out of Jacksonville is in love with Kansas City.
07:50And then you look at today with the combine going on
07:52and general managers talking at the combine.
07:54I mean, they're hellbent on Grease Hall being a jet.
07:57They're going to find a way to make it happen,
07:58even with the different tags.
07:59Tags or deals.
08:01So that leaves Kenneth Walker, ladies and gentlemen.
08:03That leaves Kenneth Walker or –
08:05Rico.
08:06No, no, no.
08:06Kenneth Walker.
08:07That's it.
08:07It stops right there.
08:08Isaiah.
08:09No, Kenneth Walker.
08:10It stops right there.
08:12Kenneth Walker or, like Nick Casario said,
08:16you know, what's out there from a trade perspective.
08:19I don't like the approach.
08:22I didn't like it last year.
08:24I don't like it this year.
08:25I've never been a fan of it.
08:26Now, I don't have to deal with a salary cap,
08:28so, Nick, I get it if you don't like the thought.
08:31But I've always hated passing up opportunities
08:37to go get running backs or to go get a need position
08:41because you can't get there over a million dollars
08:44or the guy's not a perfect fit
08:45or maybe you're not at a spot building this roster
08:48where you want to be to go get that particular player.
08:51And this is why.
08:52You're going to mess around.
08:53You're in desperate need of a running back.
08:55You don't have a high enough draft pick to necessarily move and shake
08:58and pick a guy that is a plug-and-play starter.
09:03And all the free agents, with the exception of what I would say
09:06was probably, I don't know, was he the best one?
09:10I mean, Kenneth Walker?
09:11I mean, the best, at least one, top two is still out there,
09:14and he's coming off of a Super Bowl run with Seattle,
09:17so I'd imagine they're going to want to bring him back.
09:19I mean, you're going to look up,
09:21and every option, every avenue that Nick Casario just laid out there
09:25to make this team better at the running back position,
09:26two of them are going to be gone.
09:28You sound more concerned.
09:31Yeah, it just got real.
09:32Yeah.
09:33Yeah, it just got real.
09:34Hearing Joe, what I didn't have on my bingo card today,
09:37what I did not want to hear during today's show was...
09:41Joe Mixon being released.
09:42Joe Mixon is more than likely going to be released
09:45because of a failed physical and it looks like Brees Hall
09:51and the Jets are both very content with him being a Jet moving forward.
09:56Yeah, those, as a Texans fan, those things, those things,
10:01options that are coming off the table constantly, consistently, every day
10:05for the Texans to get better behind the offensive line,
10:08knowing you're going to run it back with the guys
10:10that you're going to run it back with,
10:11so the mindset's not going to change for the Texans offensively.
10:15And for that matter, overall team-wise, the mindset's not going to change.
10:19And veteran options at the running back position are flying off the table.
10:25There's not many at all, I mean, if more than one in the running...
10:29And it does seem like teams are taking the running back position more serious
10:34and trying to keep their own, like Seattle.
10:37They took Williams, Dallas, went ahead and took care of that.
10:41Yeah.
10:42Yeah, so I don't know.
10:43Well, yeah, I mean, again, as a fan, I sit there and I go, man,
10:46I think the quickest way for this offense to get better with one,
10:49the stroke of the pen one time is at the running back position.
10:54Yeah.
10:55And we'll see how much of a...
10:56And that...
10:58And the options are dwindling.
11:00I do just...
11:01The other part is knowing from them how much they feel it's a priority.
11:08Right, hearing that, do they feel like, yeah, we'd like to add another punch to what we have here,
11:18especially with Woody Marks, but do they believe Woody Marks can be Cook?
11:23There ain't no way.
11:23Do they...
11:23I don't...
11:24There ain't no way.
11:25Do you think there's no...
11:25Cook?
11:26I'm just saying...
11:27He's the top five back in the league.
11:28I just threw a back out there.
11:29I just said, do they believe he's a guy that could be...
11:33Ain't no way.
11:34A lead back for them.
11:35Ain't no way.
11:37Ain't no way.
11:37As you said, you wouldn't be surprised by anything.
11:39I don't think that's the case.
11:41You wouldn't be surprised by anything, but it is...
11:44That is a wonder, because how important they view it, Clint, will let us know if...
11:48All right, man, we're going after...
11:50Yeah.
11:50...Kenneth Walker, or we're not just going...
11:53We're going after Travis E.T.
11:54Yeah, we're going...
11:55Like, we're going after...
11:56I don't think...
11:56Here's what I don't think, and I'm going to hit it later on at 4 o'clock.
12:00You're going to hit it hard.
12:00But, yeah, well, I don't know how hard I'm going to hit it, but I'm going to try.
12:02Yeah, the...
12:05This is all we can ask for you to do.
12:09I'm scared.
12:10None of that.
12:11None of that.
12:13I'm scared that the minds...
12:17And I don't expect them to voice it, but I would damn sure like to try to read between
12:21the lines and feel it as a fan, especially somebody that covers every word out of their
12:25mouth over there.
12:26Like, I'm scared to death that this is not going to be a, hey, man, we got one, maybe
12:32two more years of paying our quarterback rookie money.
12:36We have got a real...
12:38We are on the doorstep, man.
12:39We have...
12:40If we're ever going to make any moves, any risky moves, now's the time.
12:43I am scared to death that this is just business as usual.
12:46Nick Casario is programmed like a Bill Belichick robot.
12:50And we're going to do more.
12:52We're going to constantly do more with less.
12:57Yeah.
12:58Yeah.
12:59And I...
13:00And running back in offensive line or places, I don't...
13:03I don't love the thought of trying to do more with less with this...
13:05With this current offense and how they're running.
13:08By the way, speaking of this, and when we say these guys that are connected with their
13:14mock drafts, some people like the Daniel Jeremiah's, the Todd McShay's, the Mel Kuyper's,
13:19Clint, sometimes I feel like they have, obviously, their grading scales, but also when they make
13:26these mocks, they got some understanding of maybe some hints or some clues to what teams
13:34are thinking.
13:34And he had his first round mock draft 2.0 today, Clinton Tyler.
13:41He has the Texans staying at 28.
13:43And I don't know if this meets what you're talking about aggressive.
13:46He has the Texans staying at number 28 and drafting Notre Dame running back, Jadarian Price.
13:56The other back...
13:57And I've heard...
13:58I've seen him a little bit.
13:59I've heard our own Sean Pendergast talk about him a little bit as he's watched every Notre
14:05Dame game.
14:06But this is really the first time I've really seen him move into the first round in people's
14:11draft boards.
14:12But he was given the thought that the Texans desperately need to get better at that position
14:18with the Joe Mixon situation.
14:20And Woody Marks seems to be more of a change of pace back.
14:23And they would go after Jadarian Price.
14:26Yeah, that doesn't turn me on.
14:28I'll be honest with you.
14:29Now...
14:29That's not the aggressive thing.
14:30But that's not...
14:31I mean, again, I'm not...
14:32No, that's definitely...
14:33That would definitely be the aggressive thing.
14:35But that would also be the Texan thing of you're the smartest guy in the room.
14:38Hey, wasn't good enough to be a lead back at Notre Dame.
14:41Hell, he wasn't even...
14:41I mean, he's the third best back at Notre Dame last year.
14:44And in his past season was a second rusher.
14:46But, I mean...
14:48So, the point is not whether I agree with the player that you take.
14:52But, yes, I would say with the 28th overall pick or somewhere in there, whether you've got
14:56to move up or down or whatever you do in that first round,
14:59taking a running back at that position, yes, would definitely check the box of being aggressive.
15:05I don't necessarily have to love the pick.
15:09I don't be honest with you.
15:11The backup running back at Notre Dame does not hit my radar.
15:15Maybe the starter was that good.
15:17Well, yeah.
15:17I mean, he was.
15:18I mean, clearly he was.
15:19But, I mean, that's...
15:21I saw that would be the first time...
15:23The first time that two running backs from one team was taken in the first round
15:26since my Razorbacks did it with Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.
15:30And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that number two running back can't touch either
15:34one of them, at least from a college running back perspective.
15:36But I'll have to ask Sean Pendergast about that.
15:39That was what I was going to say.
15:39I think that's the last time that's happened?
15:41Yes.
15:42Two guys in the first round?
15:43Two first round running backs in the same backfield.
15:45Yes.
15:46So, I don't know.
15:47I'll just have to lean into Sean Pendergast's take being a Notre Dame guy.
15:53But I'll be honest with you.
15:54Just off the cuff, that doesn't turn me on a lot.
15:56But it does check the box of being aggressive.
15:58So, I can't...
15:59I'm not one to sit here and go, well, boy, what the hell are you doing?
16:03I hate that guy.
16:04No.
16:04I mean, the effort.
16:05I mean, I've got to trust the work that they're doing and the information that they're
16:09privy to that we're not.
16:10And the taking a back that they believe is slated as a first round back would constitute
16:16being aggressive, in my opinion.
16:17Right now, it does feel like it would be a reach.
16:22We'll see what he does in the combine and what he does in his pro workouts to see if
16:25he jumps back, jumps into the first round with most.
16:28It does feel like a reach.
16:29You just, you hope it's not a situation where you're like, oh, shoot, stuck right now.
16:33Yeah.
16:34With Woody Marks said, this is where we are.
16:37Well, you've got some, I mean, they're going to be able to create some money, even more than
16:41I thought with the Joe Mixon information, the Joe Mixon news, potentially.
16:46Um, and, and again, even if you've got to overspend, get out over your skis a little
16:49bit, get outside of your comfort zone.
16:51I mean, if you're ever going to do it, man, this is a time.
16:54I mean, if you're ever going to do it, man, this is a time.
16:54I mean, if you're ever going to do it, man, this is a time.
16:54You're going to do it.
16:54It's a time.
