00:00Pendergast. Are you ready? 95.7 The Fan presents Payne and Pendergast.
00:09Alright, it is 7.30 on a Wednesday here and we go to the Texas Mattress Makers Hotline.
00:16His first appearance with us in season this year so far.
00:19Always good to get a chance to talk to the Texans Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nick Casario, joining
00:25us this morning on the show.
00:27Nick, good morning. How you doing?
00:29Morning, fellas. Thanks for having us. Appreciate it.
00:31Yeah, of course. Good to be here.
00:32Yeah, good to have you on. So we got a London game coming up this week.
00:36What are the big differences, Nick, in terms of just the extra that comes with this?
00:41And when you see this game on the schedule, there's an international game.
00:44How much planning goes into this?
00:47Especially with the team that you're playing that's already over there for the entire week.
00:51Yeah, sure. You do jumping jacks when you realize you're going to be playing an international game.
00:55And then you actually start to work on some of the logistics in the spring.
00:59There's some pre-planning that goes into it.
01:01And then once the schedule comes out, once you know exactly when you're playing,
01:05then really the big thing is how do you need to structure the week or how do you want to
01:08structure the week from a practice, planning standpoint, travel standpoint?
01:13How do you want to handle that?
01:14There's a couple different ways you can do it.
01:17But our team has done a really good job on the operations front.
01:21We've had some folks that have had communications with the hotel, with the stadium over in London.
01:27So you're just trying to make sure from a logistics standpoint everything is organized.
01:30And then also you're just trying to make sure that the setup, you try to simulate as much as possible
01:34what you normally do on the road.
01:36So other than it being an international game, it's really more of a road game.
01:41Obviously, the travel is a little bit more extensive.
01:43I think the flight's, I don't know, eight-plus hours, eight, nine hours, whatever it is.
01:47So it's obviously longer than like a normal road trip, if you will.
01:51But there are definitely some things that take place during the course of the spring and even the course of
01:56training camp.
01:56So we've been talking about it probably for, you know, three, four months.
02:00So this week is more of just fine-tuning the details and then just handling the week.
02:04And then, you know, we're going to practice today, we're going to practice tomorrow,
02:07and then we're going to leave after practice.
02:08So essentially fly through the night, get there Friday morning,
02:11and then there's some things that you try to do when you get there to make sure that you can
02:16kind of get yourself acclimated to,
02:19you know, the time in the region and the area that you're in.
02:22Nick, we've got like 29 questions for you about the Marvin Harrison junior trade.
02:26Yeah, is it my name?
02:27You don't have more?
02:28But I think, and this is all related, but since we're talking about the Jaguars game,
02:32obviously the Jaguars' run defense has been very good so far.
02:35And the Texans' run rushing offense isn't what I hoped it was going to be
02:40and what I predicted it was going to be.
02:42What's the biggest thing holding back the rushing attack right now?
02:46And how much growth do you think you could see over the last two-thirds of the season?
02:52Yeah, it's really been some fits and starts.
02:55You know, there's been times when we've had some opportunities to get the run started.
02:59There's other times we haven't.
03:00You know, a lot of it is just kind of finishing, staying attached, whether it's on the line of scrimmage
03:04or at the second level.
03:06You know, front structure, kind of what you're running against.
03:09So, you know, there's some things that we can look at that, you know, we talk about on a weekly
03:13basis,
03:13try to figure out, all right, what are some of the things that we can actually do?
03:16You know, I think there was some glimpses you saw there against Tennessee.
03:21We were able to pop some runs there, some eight-plus, nine, ten-yard runs.
03:25So, if we can continue to build on some of that and some of those types of things, I think
03:29it will be important.
03:30You know, you're trying to be as balanced as possible.
03:32But by the same token, you know, we've done a pretty good job in a passing game as a passing
03:36offense.
03:37But it doesn't necessarily mean, like, okay, that's just the way it's going to be for the next however many
03:41games we have left.
03:41So, always trying to find, like, okay, what can we do better in some areas and how can we build
03:46on some of those things?
03:47To your point, I mean, Jacksonville's got the best run defense in the league.
03:50I'd say they're a really good defense overall.
03:52It's a really good team.
03:53I mean, you know, they've done a great job of building the team and kind of putting the program in
03:56place.
03:57So, we understand the challenges that are in front of us.
03:59But, you know, it's a good opportunity for us to hopefully go out there and try to play good football
04:03against a good team.
04:04Well, and I thought, you know, I thought Keelan Rutledge did some really good things in the game the other
04:08day,
04:09including, you know, I think pulling him and getting him up.
04:12And, you know, when he can't get up to the second level, you can see exactly where the potential is
04:16there.
04:16Are there things maybe that you could do now with Keelan Rutledge and maybe with that Ingram back
04:22that you just didn't feel comfortable asking him to do early in the season
04:27and you can add to his plate as you move along?
04:31Well, I think the big thing, everything is kind of week to week.
04:33So, what has application one week may or may not have application the next week.
04:38So, in the end, we're just trying to figure out what are some of the best things that we can
04:41do.
04:41It's not necessarily about one particular player or having one player do one particular thing.
04:45I mean, a run game, it's comprehensive nature.
04:48You've got the five offensive linemen.
04:49You have the tight ends that are involved in it.
04:51The receivers are involved in blocking a run for us.
04:53So, the big thing is just making sure that we're accounting for all the defenders.
04:57We kind of have a hat on a hat.
04:58And our big thing is, honestly, staying attached and finishing blocks.
05:01There's been multiple times when there's been more meat on the bone if we just can stay attached and finish.
05:06So, those are some of the things that, you know, we'll continue to emphasize.
05:09And, you know, hopefully we can continue to see some progress in some of those areas.
05:13Okay.
05:13Nick Casario joining us, Texans Executive Vice President and General Manager.
05:17Nick, Seth mentioned it, the Marvin Harrison Jr. trade.
05:19So, we'll get into the nuts and bolts of how Marvin fits in with the team and what you're seeing,
05:25you know, the potential with him, with the Texans, etc.
05:27This was one of the stranger reported trades that I can remember, just in terms of the rumor mill starting
05:33to smoke on Saturday morning,
05:35the Texans being rumored to be the team, and then the trade officially getting reported after the game.
05:41I'm curious what, like, as the, you know, as the GM kind of probably observing all the reporting on this,
05:47what was going through your mind?
05:48And, also, we played some, we played a report earlier on the show today from Jordan Schultz that the trade,
05:53maybe the reason that the reporting was delayed because the trade was contingent on you guys winning that Titans game
05:59and not starting the season 0-5.
06:01So, where are you at on just the overall reporting from somebody who executed that trade?
06:06Yeah, look, I didn't see much of the reporting.
06:09I would say a lot of this sometimes is there's some grain of truth, and a lot of it is
06:14just kind of speculation.
06:15So, I think the big thing as it pertains to this particular transaction,
06:20I have a lot of respect and have a really good relationship with Monty.
06:23You know, we go back a number of years, obviously.
06:26We've done different trades.
06:27We've worked together.
06:28We've done different things.
06:28So, he and I had been communicating for about, let's call it, two weeks or so.
06:32I'd say this kind of didn't really start until maybe the beginning of October.
06:37I'd kind of reached out, you know, and just said, hey, you know,
06:41we're kind of looking around here a little bit, potentially could be interested
06:43and not sure if there's any interest on your end.
06:46I wouldn't say that they were actively shopping the guy or trading the guy,
06:50but part of our responsibility is to inquire and ask questions.
06:52And, hey, if a player is available, great.
06:54If he's not, he's not.
06:56So, we had talked for a few weeks, and then the deal, he and I agreed to the deal Friday
07:02night.
07:02Like, the deal was basically done Friday night.
07:04Like, we kind of had an agreement in place.
07:07I gave him my word.
07:08He gave me his word.
07:10Like, you know, that's how you do business.
07:11That's how he and I do business.
07:13But he wanted to handle it a certain way as it pertains to the communication
07:17and some of the other things.
07:18So, we certainly didn't have a problem with that at all.
07:20So, we've kind of followed his lead there a little bit.
07:23I think he communicated with Marvin that he was going to be inactive Saturday morning.
07:28You know, but I think they wanted to wait until after the game to kind of communicate to the player.
07:34Like, hey, this is where you're going, which no problem at all.
07:37I think there's the way of doing business and the way you go about it.
07:40And, you know, like I said, I have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for him.
07:43And that was kind of – so, the agreement – the trade was done Friday night.
07:47Like, we had agreed to the parameters.
07:48There's a few things that we had to finalize and work out.
07:50So, what happened in the game had absolutely zero bearing on whether or not we were going to consummate the
07:56transaction.
07:57Like, we're not going to agree to something and then see what happens in the game and then back out
08:01of it.
08:01Like, we're not going to do that.
08:02I don't operate that way.
08:03Like, we're not going to operate that way.
08:05So, again, it was just the nature of how this transaction went.
08:09So, we both said, hey, okay, this is what we're going to do.
08:11I'm comfortable.
08:11You're comfortable.
08:12You handle it on your end however you need to do it.
08:15And then, you know, we'll follow up after the game.
08:16So, essentially, like, that's kind of how it all came together.
08:20Again, we understand in the information age everybody's looking for information
08:24and trying to piece things together and read the tea leaves and a bunch of other garbage.
08:27But, in the end, like, we just choose to do business a certain way.
08:31Everybody can, you know, agree or disagree with how we go about it.
08:34But, again, it was – I think there was a lot more made of this than there really was.
08:39I think it was more of, like, out of respect of the relationship the two of us have.
08:42We just wanted to make sure that we handled it the right way.
08:44And I wanted to be respectful of how he wanted to go about it.
08:47That's Nick Casario, Texans general manager.
08:49Nick, what – okay, so the trade itself and Marvin and the player,
08:53what is it about the Texans program that you feel like when you get Marvin in the building
08:59and in this offense that you feel like you guys can unlock the best version of Marvin?
09:03Well, we'll find out.
09:04I mean, we're not going to really know until we kind of get started.
09:07I mean, the expectations are the same for any player that walks in our building.
09:11Whatever happens somewhere else, like, we can't necessarily control
09:14or speculate about why something worked or did not work.
09:17We can do our homework, try to get some information more so on the person.
09:21And then, really, once a player walks in the building,
09:23what are some of the things that we can do to help him?
09:25So, again, our expectations are come in, have the right mindset, go out there,
09:30get yourself acclimated to the system.
09:32Whenever you're ready to play, you'll play.
09:34Like, we're not going to force feed anything.
09:35We're not going to say this guy's got to play X number of plays
09:37and just try to put him out there.
09:39When he's ready to play, he'll play.
09:41As it pertains to the player, you know, obviously he was drafted highly,
09:45but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
09:46I think you have a player who is a smart kid, who works hard.
09:51You know, he's got good length.
09:52He's got good hands.
09:53He's got good hand-eye coordination.
09:55So, again, what happens somewhere else, like, D'Amico's talked about this,
09:59like, in the end, it doesn't really have any bearing on what happens in our building.
10:03Like, we try to put our arms around the player when they walk in the building.
10:06What can we do to help him?
10:08What can we do to accentuate that player's strength?
10:11And what can we do to perform to his maximum ability?
10:15So that's where the focus is.
10:16And so we'll kind of take it one day at a time, you know,
10:19probably be out there practicing here today, and, you know, we'll see how it goes.
10:23When you guys have a – when you have a younger player like this especially
10:26that's only had a couple full seasons in the NFL
10:28or almost full seasons in the NFL, like, obviously the scouting report
10:33is still really fresh.
10:35But you've got two years of film and data and everything.
10:38Is it a matter of just, like, taking what you thought of as a player
10:41and then maybe tweaking your opinion a little bit and just seeing –
10:45and then envisioning how he might fit in your system?
10:48Yeah, you kind of put it all together, Seth.
10:50So, obviously, you evaluate the player coming out.
10:52Okay, you have the reports.
10:53You have the grades.
10:54Here's what we think it's going to be.
10:55And then the player has a body of work.
10:57That's the one thing when a player comes into the league,
10:59you can see them against NFL competition and see, all right,
11:03does this match up with what you thought it was going to be?
11:05So, let's say in Marvin's case, you know, had a really productive rookie season.
11:09The second season was kind of hit or miss, had some injuries,
11:12kind of in and out of the lineup.
11:13And then, you know, this year he played.
11:15I mean, he wasn't, I'd say, highly targeted,
11:17but he played a decent amount of snaps.
11:19So, again, how that all transpired, again, different coaching staff,
11:23different people are involved in Arizona.
11:26So, you know, all we can do is go off of what we see
11:29and then the information that we have and try to piece it together.
11:32What's the profile of the player that we think we have
11:34that's going to walk into the building?
11:36And then, all right, let's put that player in a position
11:38so he can go out there and perform to the best of whatever his ability is.
11:43Don't ask him to do something that maybe he's not comfortable doing
11:46or not really that good at.
11:48So, again, we're kind of in the infantile stages
11:51relative to how it's going to look for the Houston Texans.
11:54We'll probably have a lot more information, honestly,
11:56in the next, you know, three, four weeks.
11:58I wouldn't say we're going to have that much information
12:00over the next week or two.
12:01So, we'll see how these next couple weeks go.
12:03Then we get to the bye week.
12:04And then, you know, we'll probably have a better idea
12:06once we kind of get in the back half of the season
12:08of potentially what this is going to look like.
12:10And I think part of the impetus for the trade, you know,
12:12there's a player that's a young player who's under contract
12:16at least for the next two seasons.
12:17So, I'd say that went into part of the calculus
12:19and making the acquisition.
12:21So, there's always a lot of moving parts.
12:22Every situation is going to be a little bit different.
12:24But we try to evaluate it and, in the end,
12:26try to make the best decision we feel is, you know,
12:28the best interest of the organization.
12:30Okay.
12:30You just answered one of my questions about the contract.
12:32So, that's good.
12:33As far as the trade goes, Nick,
12:35and with respect to C.J. Stroud,
12:37C.J.'s had a really good first five games.
12:39You just mentioned that you'd been in talks
12:41for a couple of weeks here with the Cardinals.
12:43How much did C.J. getting off to the start that he did
12:46where it looks like all the things that you and D'Amico
12:48and others have talked about this offseason
12:50with him really taking his game to another level
12:52have come to fruition so far.
12:54How much does that factor into the calculus
12:56of going out and getting a weapon for C.J., obviously,
12:59but for the team as well?
13:01Well, I think it's twofold.
13:02I think you kind of take the performance
13:04of the player individually.
13:05Like, it's a part of the equation,
13:07but it's not really a reason that you're doing something.
13:09It's really more of, okay, here's a player,
13:11here's the opportunity that we feel we can add
13:13a good player to the football team
13:15that we feel has an opportunity to maybe help us this year
13:18and then moving forward.
13:19So, again, even going back to training camp,
13:23you know, when Higg went down, I mean,
13:25that was a position like we were, you know,
13:27we were calling around.
13:29I mean, we were calling, you know, multiple teams
13:30and inquired about different players.
13:33We felt like that was a position, you know,
13:35we were going to try to upgrade or add a player
13:37when you lose a player of Higg's caliber.
13:38I mean, you're not going to necessarily
13:39going to replace him, but if you can bring a player
13:41in to provide, you know, some quality plays.
13:44So, even going back to training camp, you know,
13:46we, again, I don't want to say I talked
13:48to every team in the league, but, you know,
13:49probably reached out to a number of teams
13:51and then we were able to consummate the trade
13:53for Kayshawn there kind of at the end of training camp
13:55and it's taken him, you know, a few weeks
13:57to kind of get his feet on the ground,
13:59but he's done a really good job for us
14:01taking advantage of his opportunities.
14:02So, again, CJ's played well, I mean,
14:05independently of anything else.
14:06And then it's like, all right,
14:07if there's an opportunity that we feel
14:09we can enhance or improve the team,
14:11that's our responsibility and we're going to look at that.
14:13So, whether it's receiver, whether it's another position,
14:16whether it's another player that, you know,
14:17is not here that potentially we could bring in
14:19at some point, like, it's a very fluid situation.
14:22It's always constantly moving.
14:23So, again, it wasn't necessarily spearheaded
14:25by how CJ was playing.
14:27It was more of, hey, here's an opportunity
14:29to acquire a player.
14:31If we think we feel good about it, great.
14:32If we don't, then we pivot and go another direction.
14:36Nick, I'm going to actually, I just realized,
14:37I'm going to use this interview as a way
14:38to confess the things I was wrong about
14:40during the preseason,
14:41and then I need you to answer for my being incorrect.
14:45Don't worry, Seth, I'm wrong a lot,
14:46so I'm going to be the president of it.
14:49Yeah, yeah.
14:52You agree, obviously.
14:54Oh, no, no, no, I was commiserating.
14:56I was commiserating, yeah.
14:57I didn't mean to be, like, endorsing it.
14:59Like, yeah, I'll tell you what, Nick.
15:00No, look, look, I promised the people
15:03a boatload of tight end usage.
15:05It's going to be a fantastic,
15:06it's going to be like nothing you've ever seen.
15:08And so far, it hasn't worked out that way.
15:10Like, you know, you guys,
15:10you haven't been in 12 a whole bunch
15:12or 13 a whole bunch.
15:14What's, like, where are we with the tight ends
15:17and, you know, a team that's got five tight ends
15:20on the active roster,
15:20and yet it doesn't seem week to week
15:24like they're a huge part of what's working?
15:26Yeah, and we talked about this in training camp.
15:28I, you know, some of this is just roster building,
15:30just more of people in the building.
15:32Just because you have five tight ends on a roster
15:34doesn't mean that you're going to play
15:35four or five tight ends.
15:37So some of this is just, all right,
15:38who do we want to keep in the building?
15:40You know, so, I mean, Dalton has a pretty good role.
15:43I mean, Foster has done some things offensively
15:45and kind of like the third tight end, you know,
15:47we've used that on a, whatever the percentage is.
15:49I don't know exactly what it is.
15:51But then the other part of this, I mean,
15:52which nobody was really talking about.
15:54I'm not saying this is why you kept the player on the team,
15:56but, you know, Brevin's actually done
15:58a pretty good job in a kicking game
16:00between Brevin and Stover.
16:01They've actually helped us in a kicking game
16:03in terms of having some size players.
16:05Again, you're not keeping tight ends on the team
16:07saying because they play in a kicking game,
16:09but when you just look at the overall roster,
16:12all right, if we were a little bit lighter at linebacker
16:13and we've had some injuries that we've taken place there,
16:16it affects fourth down.
16:17So, all right, where is that production going to come from?
16:19So, again, every week is going to be
16:22a little bit different.
16:23You know, whether or not it's 12 or 13,
16:25does that give us, like, an advantage?
16:27Great.
16:27If it doesn't, then, all right,
16:29we're just not going to put it out there
16:30just because, like, we have multiple tight ends on the team.
16:32So, like, we understand, like,
16:34when we talked about this in training camp,
16:36we probably were going to have high numbers there.
16:37I think we kind of felt even in the spring,
16:40we have five tight ends that if they had to go on the field
16:43and play, again, not all at the same time,
16:45but at some point that we feel comfortable
16:48with them on the field.
16:48So, again, a lot of this is just some of this is managing the roster.
16:52Another part of this is just managing, like,
16:54all right, how's the other team playing?
16:55Like, what are we doing week to week
16:56and what gives us the best advantage?
16:58What's the, with Marlon Klein,
17:00what's his, I guess, most attainable step
17:03to getting back on the active game day roster?
17:05What's the next big step he has to take?
17:07Yeah, I mean, continue to have productive weeks in practice
17:10and then, you know, if we're taking four tight ends,
17:12all right, what's his role within that?
17:14And I'd say the kicking game is a part of it.
17:15You know, can he carve out a role there
17:17and then offensively how we want to use him?
17:19But, you know, I think nobody is disappointed in Marlon.
17:22I mean, look, I'm like, we should, you know,
17:23judge a player on five games into his career.
17:26So, he's a young player.
17:27Like, again, we feel we have pretty good depth at that position.
17:30Probably going to use everybody here at some point.
17:32So, you know, his thing is just continue to focus on,
17:36you know, the areas that we've asked you to improve.
17:37Go out there, be productive in practice.
17:39And then at some point, you're going to get your opportunity.
17:41And when your opportunity, you know, your name is called,
17:44then go out there and make the most of it.
17:45So, again, I think that'll be, you know, the case with him
17:48as well as it is for, you know, a lot of other players.
17:51Nick Casario, Texans Executive Vice President
17:53and General Manager, joining us here on Pain and Pendergast
17:55on 95.7 The Fan.
17:57So, Nick, Caden McDonald gets back on the field.
18:01You activate his practice window, Braden Smith and Tank Dell.
18:04I'm sure we'll ask you about the other two guys,
18:05but I did want to ask about Tank.
18:08Is it looking like he is trending towards coming back here at some point?
18:12I mean, the practice window is open.
18:13So, obviously, you guys have – there's a time frame to make a decision on him.
18:17How is Tank doing and what's he trending towards right now?
18:20Yeah, correct.
18:20Like, with those players, you have 21 days.
18:22So, he practiced last week.
18:24He'll practice again here this week.
18:26We'll kind of evaluate where he is.
18:28I'd say he's trending, unless he has a setback, like he's trending in the right direction.
18:34So, whether it's this week or next week, I mean, some of this is going to be like,
18:38okay, how does this practice go?
18:40What does that look like?
18:41Make sure he's loaded properly and make sure that he's prepared
18:44so that when he does go out there and actually play, like, he's ready to go for that.
18:48So, you know, those players are working hard.
18:50We've probably got some other players in a similar category here over the next day or so
18:54that they potentially could start practicing.
18:57You know, you mentioned McDonald.
18:58Like, he had a good week of practice, and we activated him,
19:01and he went out there and played, I don't know, like 15 snaps
19:04or whatever it was on Sunday.
19:05So, again –
19:07There's 12 if you include the false start by Clowney.
19:10Okay.
19:10There you go.
19:11So, but all those players will kind of take it case by case,
19:14but they're all, I would say, moving and heading in the right direction.
19:17With Tank, does the placement of the bye week factor in at all to bringing him back,
19:21or has it been just such a long saga with him?
19:23It's like when he's ready, he's ready, and we're going to bring him back.
19:26It's really more of within the 21 –
19:28Look, you have the 21 days, so within that 21-day period, all right,
19:31you're either going to activate him or you're not.
19:33So, we'll kind of handle this week.
19:36We'll kind of see how this week goes and make an assessment at the end of the week.
19:39But, you know, he's certainly done everything that we've asked him to do,
19:43and he's turning it in the right direction.
19:44You had mentioned before with Tank on our show, I think back,
19:47the last time you were on with us towards the end of training camp,
19:50that one of the things that you guys were looking at that maybe he hadn't gotten back to yet –
19:54and just correct me if I'm wrong, if I'm phrasing this wrong, Nick –
19:57but, like, his top, top-end speed wasn't back to where it was before the injury yet,
20:03and you guys were hoping that he would get back there.
20:05Do you have any update on that?
20:06Has he gotten back to that yet?
20:08Yeah, you've seen more of the high-speed running, hitting some of those speeds.
20:13And, again, he went out there last week and kind of had two good days of practice,
20:17practice Wednesday, practice Thursday.
20:19He had some reps, you know, kind of on the look team, kind of servicing our defense,
20:24and then he had some reps with our offense.
20:26So, again, a lot of that is just continuing to build the load
20:29and continuing to build the confidence in the player.
20:31The next part of this will be, all right,
20:33how do you simulate sort of tackling or dealing with contact
20:37because that's the next thing that's going to take place.
20:39And, you know, we don't tackle in practice,
20:41but maybe there's some ways that you can build that
20:43so they can feel that stimulus so that when they actually go back into the game,
20:48like the first time they're getting hit and getting tackled,
20:50like isn't in a game, which you probably don't want to do that.
20:52So there's different checkpoints here that we're going to go through.
20:56So, again, he's moving along.
20:57He's done everything that we've asked him to do.
20:59So, you know, hopefully we can have a good week this week,
21:02and then we'll kind of assess where he is at the end of the week.
21:04I know CJ Stroud on the sum total of it all.
21:07He looks like a guy who's a lot more comfortable in the second year of his system.
21:10So there's going to be multiple things that have improved.
21:13Is there anything specifically that he was working on getting better at
21:17within this system that you've seen a real big step forward with?
21:22Yeah, we've talked about this.
21:24I mean, going back to last year, I would say the huddle
21:26slash line of scrimmage operation, it's a lot more swift,
21:30and there's just a lot more confidence and assertiveness
21:34and making a declaration and making a decision, you know,
21:38when a huddle breaks and getting the line of scrimmage
21:40and understanding what's going on on the other side of the ball.
21:43I would say this.
21:43Look, we're going to be taxed offensively
21:46because defenses do a really good job of presenting, I would say, multiple looks.
21:50We all inevitably kind of see it each week.
21:53We're certainly going to be taxed this week against Jacksonville
21:56because they do a good job of mixing the fronts and the looks
22:00and the disguise and some of the other things.
22:02But the big thing is just being decisive.
22:04And then whatever we communicate, everybody just making sure
22:07they're on the same page.
22:08I mean, I think one of the things that we saw the other day,
22:11it was in the third quarter, I want to say, in that long 17-play drive.
22:16We had third down, whatever it was,
22:18but they kind of showed an 11-up look or 8-up look,
22:21kind of looked like a blitz zero look.
22:23And, you know, we executed a sight adjust on a weak side between him and Nico.
22:28Simmons was popping out, kind of a blitz zero
22:30with a defensive tackle dropping out.
22:33But, like, those are the things, like, we spent an inordinate amount of time
22:36in the spring and in training camp, and you're going to be taxed.
22:39And then your ability to just react in that situation,
22:42that shows a lot of growth.
22:44So, overall, I mean, you know, Sean mentioned it.
22:47I mean, CJ's played really good football.
22:50You know, he's got off to a good start.
22:52He's done everything that we've asked him to do.
22:54So, hopefully, we can continue that arc and trajectory here
22:57over the course of the rest of the season.
22:58All right, Nick, random question for you, just so you can –
23:01I'm curious about this.
23:03I, like, I've learned more about coverages since I was done playing football
23:07than when I was playing football.
23:08I was just a dumb nose tackle.
23:10And, yeah, like, I feel like whenever I talk to coaches,
23:14they'll talk about, like, they'll talk about coverages as in, like,
23:18well, we think they were in this coverage,
23:19or it looks like they were in this or that.
23:22But then I see people on the internets,
23:24and they're so confident in what coverage a defense was running.
23:27When we look at the advanced stats about, like,
23:29how often a team is in cover one or cover two or cover three,
23:32like, how accurate are those?
23:34Because you use some of those advanced stats.
23:36Is there, like, is there, like, a bigger gap in accuracy on that,
23:42or are there some that do it really well?
23:45To your question, I'd look at some of the advanced stats.
23:48Honestly, I haven't seen any advanced stats as it pertains to coverages
23:52and what one – because one, two, and three are just not one, two, and three.
23:56Right.
23:56There's multiple variations of cover one.
23:59There's multiple variations of cover three.
24:01I'd say, honestly, where you've seen the multiplicity of variation
24:04is in how teams play split safety coverage.
24:07You have more variations, I would say, of two or two Tampa
24:11than you have going back to the original sort of Tampa two with Coach Kiffin
24:16and kind of when that all – and Coach Dungy when that all started.
24:18You've seen probably six to seven or eight different variations of cover two
24:25or split safety zone, and then you factor in kind of quarters or cover four
24:30and then quarter, quarter, half.
24:32There's just a multiplicity of coverages.
24:34So, again, it may look like one thing, which, again, defense has done a really good job
24:38making you think, well, here's what it is.
24:40I would say sometimes it looks like it's post safety,
24:42and then it ends up being a split safety, you know, Tampa coverage post-snap.
24:46And that's what defenses are trying to create that conflict for the offense.
24:51So, it's hard to just oversimplify, well, it's one, two, and three,
24:55and here's the percentages because there's just so many variations
24:58that teams are playing.
24:59And, again, you can't figure out everything, which is you have to go back to your rules,
25:04and sometimes you have just all-purpose coverage beaters,
25:06and then you have certain plays that are specific that he's designed
25:09for a specific coverage, and then you don't get it.
25:11Then you've just got to be able to go through your progression
25:13or go to your read and however you handle it.
25:15Yeah, I guess that's the part, I guess, that I think that, like,
25:20is it fair to say that, yeah, there's a lot of times where coaches
25:23just genuinely don't know what coverage they're running.
25:26Like, you'd have to spend, like, three hours to figure out exactly
25:29what the rules are in this specific look.
25:32Look, it's very nuanced.
25:34We think it's this, we think it's that.
25:35You try to put a new and general category,
25:37and then you try to get a general idea, okay, in early downs,
25:40here's the coverages that show up the most often,
25:43and, like, here are the coverage patterns in the third down.
25:45Third down is where you see, I would say, the most variation.
25:47You probably see a little bit more of a spin-the-dial mentality
25:51so that you kind of can't get a beat.
25:53So, again, this is the cat-and-mouse game that takes place
25:57between offenses and defenses.
25:59And then during the course of the game, all right,
26:01you start to see some patterns declare about how a team is going to play.
26:05So, but that's what it is kind of on a weekly basis.
26:09What I heard you say, Nick, is don't believe everything you read on the Internet.
26:12That's what I just heard you say to Seth just now.
26:14I think that's great advice for everybody on the live,
26:17which is why I don't pay attention to a lot of what's on the Internet.
26:20That's smart.
26:21Stick my head in a book.
26:23I can get a lot more out of that than getting caught up
26:25in what's going on on the Internet.
26:26I'm just astounded whenever I, like, I see people,
26:28and they're so confident in some of these detailed film breakdowns.
26:31And then I'll send a clip off to a coaching friend of mine,
26:34and he's basically like, ah, I don't know, man.
26:38It could be one of eight different things.
26:41You know the worst on that, Nick,
26:42is when I want to blame an offensive lineman for something,
26:45and then you send the clip to a former offensive lineman,
26:48and they always say, A, I don't know what the rules are here,
26:52but they're rules, and B, like, it could be one of six different things.
26:55Yeah.
26:56That happens often.
26:57It happens often.
26:58Hey, speaking of offensive linemen, actually, real quick,
27:01you're listening to KIKK, FM, KIKK, AM, Houston,
27:04and Odyssey Sports Station.
27:05We're talking to Texans general manager Nick Casario.
27:08Nick, do you feel sorry at all for opposing offensive linemen
27:10when Will Anderson Jr. is lined up in a two-point stance
27:13standing over them like he was at the end of that Titans game
27:15over the weekend?
27:17I'm just glad I'm not the person that has to try to handle him.
27:22So, yeah, I mean, look, Will's a good player.
27:25He's shown that here for a number of years,
27:27and, you know, he's done some different things here this season.
27:30So, any way that, you know, we can kind of create some matchups
27:33for the front, you know, we're just trying to put them
27:35in the most advantageous position possible.
27:38So, yeah, I mean, Will has continued to, you know,
27:41as hard as it seems, continue to grow and improve on a yearly basis.
27:45I mean, it's credit to him and just his mindset and a work ethic.
27:48So, I mean, he's done a good job for us,
27:50and, you know, we're certainly glad that he's here.
27:52Do you have any kind of a timeline on Henry Toto yet?
27:56We're getting close.
27:57I mean, honestly, I think he's probably going to start practicing here
28:00this week, and then we'll kind of assess where he is.
28:04You know, it's a credit to Henry and just, like, his mentality
28:07and his mindset that, you know, we're even having this conversation.
28:10I wouldn't say it doesn't necessarily guarantee that, you know,
28:12he's going to play, but he's trending in the right direction.
28:17You know, so we'll start him in practice,
28:19kind of start him moving around here a little bit.
28:20But, yeah, he's really worked hard and put a lot of time and effort
28:26into getting himself prepared.
28:27And, you know, the big thing is just making sure that, like, physically,
28:30like, he's prepared for a contact.
28:33And, you know, we're not going to put him in a position where, you know,
28:35he's at risk.
28:36But, you know, as long as the player is confident and he feels good,
28:39then we'll kind of keep moving along.
28:41Hey, Nick, Reed Blankenship, it seemed like it was a struggle
28:44the first couple games of the season.
28:46It seems like it's gotten better over the last few games.
28:48How has Reed played and how do you feel about his fit
28:51in the defense so far this season?
28:54Yeah, I mean, Reed's done a good job.
28:55I mean, honestly, I think he's been a little bit of a whipping boy
28:57for no reason.
28:58You know, I think, look, we as a team, we didn't do a good job collectively,
29:02myself included here in the early part of this season.
29:04So, I mean, all of us are, you know, if we can improve on the margins
29:08and, you know, kind of try to find some solutions on some things.
29:11But, you know, Reed's done a good job here,
29:13especially over here the last few weeks.
29:15He's a smart guy.
29:16He's instinctive.
29:17He plays physical.
29:18He's done a good job tackling.
29:19So, you know, we're glad he's here.
29:21And I think overall as a team, I think we're just trying to focus on,
29:25you know, what's in front of us.
29:26I mean, look, the reality is, like, we didn't play well enough
29:28the first four weeks.
29:30We didn't do enough, you know, collectively as a team.
29:32You know, I didn't do a good enough job.
29:33So now it's a matter of, like, all right, what can we do moving forward
29:37and just try to maximize what happens over the course of each week.
29:41Where do you feel like the biggest area is that you guys can improve in right now?
29:45Yeah, just finishing games.
29:46I mean, the reality is, like, we basically lost three games in the last possession,
29:49regardless of what happened during the course of the game.
29:51So I think, you know, being able to put ourselves in a position where we have an opportunity
29:55to win in the fourth quarter and then just finishing, you know, and executing things
29:59and kind of finishing plays.
30:00I mean, I think, again, this is the way – this is football.
30:03This is the reality of it.
30:04So either you make those plays or the other team makes the plays.
30:07So I think there's the mindset of just finishing, being consistent,
30:11and just kind of having, you know, maniacal focus there in the fourth quarter
30:14when you need it most.
30:15I mean, I think those are the things, if we can kind of continue to do that,
30:18then, you know, maybe the result will be a little bit different.
30:20But, you know, also you've got to tip your hat to the opponent,
30:22and they've made the plays and we haven't made them.
30:25And, look, this is the reality of football, and we're in a situation that we're in,
30:29but we can't really worry about what's happened.
30:30And all we can do is focus on what's in front of us and try to take advantage
30:34of the opportunities each week, which, you know, this particular week
30:37is going to be, you know, a good Jacksonville team.
30:39You know, we had a lot of conversations about clock management
30:41and game management at the end of the Colts game.
30:43But then in the NFL at large, it feels like over the past four weeks,
30:47there's just been a few huge discussions in various games.
30:52And, you know, usually what coaches will talk about is the process
30:55and getting the process right.
30:57And it just – it feels from the outside looking in like now
31:00more than ever, there's just so much information that maybe coaches
31:05have to try to decipher about just whatever the analytics are saying,
31:11whatever's going on in the game.
31:12Is that an ongoing kind of process in trying to refine that process
31:17of exactly how – like how much information do you give a coach
31:20in that moment and how he goes about making the decision?
31:23No, that's fair.
31:24I think the reality is like a lot of things, I mean, sometimes less is more.
31:27So, you try – you want to make sure you don't like overcomplicate it.
31:30I mean, certain situations are always going to be more relevant than others.
31:33Like what happens at the end of the half and what happens at the end of the game.
31:36Like, all right, you want to make sure that like you have conviction
31:39and you feel good about like what you're going to do.
31:41But then also on the other end of it is just kind of understanding
31:43the flow and the arc of the game,
31:45which I'd say D'Amico does a great job of understanding how the game is going,
31:48what does the team need to do,
31:50and, you know, making the decisions that he feels are best for the team.
31:53So, but to your point, sometimes there's so much that's out there.
31:57It's like everything.
31:58Scouting report, game management, you know, personnel, scheme, strategy.
32:04Sometimes like doing a little bit less or shrinking it is actually better off
32:08because in the end you've got to react in real time
32:11and you've got to be able to think fast
32:13and you want to make sure that you have clarity of thought as much as possible.
32:17Nick Casario joining us here on 95.7, the Fan Texans GM.
32:21Hey, Nick, just circling back to CJ for a minute,
32:23I had a good start to the season, obviously.
32:25Out here on these streets, people still talk about his contract situation
32:29and I'm not going to ask you if a contract's coming up or anything like that,
32:31but do you, in a situation like this,
32:34do you maintain contact with CJ's team throughout the season here
32:39or is this something that is, you know, kind of tabled
32:41and you're just going to revisit it in February?
32:43Yeah, I mean, look, we always have an open-door policy,
32:46so if there was a conversation to be had, great.
32:48If we want to continue, no problem.
32:50If not, like, you know, it's something that we'll address
32:52or handle in the offseason.
32:54So, again, I think we're pretty flexible and adaptable around here,
32:58so, you know, don't want to close the door on anything.
33:01And, again, on the other side of it, like, whatever their thought
33:04and however they want to handle it, like, you know,
33:06we're certainly respectful of that.
33:08So, you know, we'll kind of take it case by case.
33:10But, you know, look, the reality is, I mean,
33:12we had good discussions during the offseason.
33:14We weren't able to kind of reach an agreement, you know,
33:16and I think everybody felt like it was handled, you know, fairly well.
33:20And, you know, I've got respect for him and, you know, his and David
33:23and kind of the way they go about business.
33:25And I think it was reciprocal.
33:26So, again, we just try to keep, you know, the dialogue moving,
33:30keep it open, and when it's appropriate to revisit, then you revisit it.
33:33Yeah, is there – when you're in a situation like that
33:36and you're trying to have, you know, congenial conversations about stuff,
33:41it's a big deal, you know, like literally a big deal.
33:46Like, how do you go about checking in with a player to be sure that they're cool
33:49and everything, or is it just like an absence of drama
33:51that you hope that everything's – that everybody's got their feelings aligned
33:55and all that?
33:56Yeah, I mean, look, we kind of operate in a drama-free zone around here.
33:59So, if a player has something that's on his mind, like, we'll talk to him.
34:02Like, you know, if he has something that he wants to talk about,
34:04then he'll see D'Amico.
34:05You know, if we run into each other in a weight room in a hallway, I mean, again,
34:10like the contracts are the contract.
34:12Everybody understands what that entails.
34:13But then you also have the seasons about, hey, what are your thoughts here?
34:17You know, again, like going back to players, hey, do you have any thoughts on Marvin?
34:21What is your experience like with him?
34:22So, again, we do that with all of our players.
34:24So, again, you don't want to create this, like, awkward nature.
34:27You try to do a good job of kind of separating whatever it is that you're dealing with.
34:33So, yeah, it's not awkward at all.
34:35I mean, everybody understands, like, there's a business side of this.
34:38And everybody understands what comes along with that.
34:41But by the same token, like, you're still trying to run a football team.
34:44You're still trying to go out there and prepare and win
34:46and try to play good football on a week-to-week basis.
34:49So, yeah, I mean, I think we're, you know, pretty reasonable people around here.
34:53I mean, depending who you ask.
34:55But I think most people would say that, you know,
34:57D'Amico and I are pretty reasonable to deal with and communicate with on a daily basis.
35:01Okay, power rank, the most five unreasonable people in the building over there.
35:06No, I'm just joking.
35:07If you could create –
35:08I'm probably at the top of the list.
35:09For other people.
35:10A lot of people.
35:10Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:11I wasn't old.
35:12You know what?
35:12I'm jealous of, like, guys that get to play for D'Amico
35:15because I never had a coach who I wasn't terrified of until Kubiak came along.
35:20But I didn't trust Kubiak.
35:21I was like a shelter dog.
35:23I was like, I don't know if I – you know.
35:24And, yeah, Coughlin and Capers were really good dudes.
35:27And Capers wasn't nearly the same type of personality as Coughlin.
35:30But I just – I always felt, like, a little too guarded.
35:33I feel like with Kubiak, if I – you know, if he'd taken me in
35:36and fed me and everything for more than just half a season,
35:39I could have gotten comfortable.
35:41But I feel like with –
35:42Except the shelter dog.
35:43Yeah.
35:44Oh, terrified.
35:45I still get nervous talking to those guys.
35:47I talked to Capers after – during the preseason a little bit.
35:51Or, no, last year when he was with the Panthers.
35:54But, no, with D'Amico, it does feel like they genuinely –
35:57like, they respect him a lot, but he seems –
35:59you know, sometimes there's a coach that will say,
36:01hey, I've got an open door.
36:02But there's no way in hell you're going through that open door.
36:05I feel like with D'Amico, they actually walk through the open door.
36:08They should.
36:09Honestly, they probably don't do it enough.
36:10But, again, he's one of the most sincere, genuine people.
36:14And, again, he just wants to have honest communication.
36:17And if you have something that's bothering you, like, literally,
36:19our doors are open all day.
36:20So, come on.
36:21We have nothing to hide.
36:22Like, this isn't – we're all trying to accomplish the same thing.
36:24Like, it's not about one individual.
36:26We're a collective team.
36:28We're a collective organization.
36:29We're trying to do our best to go out there and play good football
36:33on a week-to-week basis.
36:33Because, in the end, like, all of us are going to benefit from all of us
36:37doing well.
36:38So, again, regardless of the situation, regardless of the outcome, like,
36:42if something's on your mind, like, this is real life.
36:44Like, come in.
36:44Let's talk about it like adults.
36:46You know, because take it out of football.
36:49Like, that's how you should handle things.
36:51So, you know, that's how we try to go about it and don't make more of it
36:54than, you know, what it really is.
36:56So, Nick, this trip to London that's coming up here,
36:59and let's talk about the Jags for a minute.
37:01You mentioned, you know, one of the best run defenses in football.
37:04We didn't really talk about the offensive side of the football,
37:06but just give us the thumbnail sketch.
37:08Defensively, you guys are playing better now than you were
37:10at the beginning of the year.
37:11What do you look at the biggest challenge here for the defense
37:13for you guys this weekend?
37:15Yeah.
37:15No, they're a very well-constructed team.
37:17I'd say Trevor's playing really well.
37:19I think this is, like, his highest completion percentage, you know,
37:22of his career or close to it at some point.
37:24So, he's making good decisions.
37:25He's getting rid of the football.
37:26They got, you know, three really good receivers, you know,
37:29and Thomas and Jacoby Myers, who, after they acquired him last year
37:33at the trade deadline, and he's made a huge impact.
37:36And, you know, Parker Washington has developed into, honestly,
37:38one of the best receivers in the league.
37:40So, you know, three good receivers, you know, a good tight end,
37:43and Brenton Strange, who's improved.
37:45Borkutcher's given him some snaps.
37:47And they've gotten good production from Tootin.
37:49So, this is a really well-balanced offense that, you know,
37:53does a good job of maintaining balance.
37:55And, you know, taking advantage of, you know, what the defense does.
37:59So, you know, we're just going to have to make sure.
38:01Tackling's going to be important.
38:02Like, they have a bunch of guys that are good with the ball in their hand.
38:04Tootin's hard to tackle.
38:05Parker Washington is really hard to tackle.
38:07You know, Thomas has the speed to get behind the defense.
38:09You know, Jacoby's a really good route runner.
38:11So, when they tax you, and, you know, Trevor can make some plays with his legs.
38:15So, you know, we're going to just have to eliminate or prevent as many big plays as possible,
38:19which, you know, that was kind of an issue for us here early in the season.
38:23Tackling's going to be important.
38:24And, you know, we've got to see if we can take the ball away.
38:26So, but, you know, like I said, like, they've done a really good job.
38:28Tony James and, you know, Liam have done a really good job of, you know,
38:32kind of flipping the program around and turning the program around.
38:35And, you know, they're a good football team.
38:37You know, so, but, you know, if you play in the right way, you know,
38:40then you put yourself in a position to hopefully go out there and have a, you know,
38:43chance to win it in the fourth quarter.
38:45So, you know, excited about the challenge and excited about the opportunity.
38:48And, you know, whether it's in Jacksonville or, in this case, it's in London.
38:51So, you know, we just try to prepare and get ready to play a good football game this week.
38:54Yeah, Parker Washington.
38:56I think Sean and I were both in the same boat.
38:58He was one of those guys that, like, you'd see him make one play against the Texans.
39:02And after the game, you'd think, like, yeah, that kid must have, like,
39:05900 yards receiving this year, right?
39:07And they're like, oh, no, 132 in his rookie year.
39:11But, like, what about him, if you look back to your scouting report
39:15or what, like, the, you know, consensus thought perhaps was on a guy that went
39:18in the sixth round, what did he show above and beyond his scouting report
39:23over the last few years?
39:24Well, I think he's made himself into a really good player.
39:28And he's taken advantage of his opportunities.
39:30And there's a good example of a player who's drafted late and kind of started more
39:33as a backup, but then he was able to develop as a punt returner.
39:37You know, so, okay, he'd develop as a punt returner, develop on fourth down,
39:41and then, all right, how do we incorporate him maybe a little bit more offensively?
39:44So I'm sure as they went through the years, they probably looked, oh, this guy's, like,
39:49a pretty good player.
39:49And they had some other receivers that were there.
39:51And then they kind of moved on from them.
39:53And then, you know, Parker probably forced those players out of there because of his
39:58performance.
39:58So I think it speaks to the player's mindset, his overall mentality.
40:02And going back to Parker, like, he was a productive player at Penn State.
40:06I want to say he was, like, an average called 45-50 catch guy over the course of his career.
40:10But he was a really good kid.
40:11He worked hard.
40:12You know, when he was called 5'10", 190 pounds, 195 pounds, I think he ran 4'4", 5', 4
40:18'5".
40:18So it's like, all right, not like the measurables aren't, like, all right, great, but they're
40:23good, but you got a good kid who's got good makeup, who's got a good mentality, and then
40:27he's made himself into a really good football player, again.
40:30And he kind of started, he had a small role initially, and then that role grew because
40:35he took advantage of his opportunities.
40:37So that's what happens with young players.
40:40Some are able to capitalize, some aren't.
40:43And again, the situation and circumstance could dictate whether or not that actually comes
40:46to fruition.
40:47But again, like, they basically said, look, we can't not have this guy on the field, you
40:52know, which is why they're basically going, you know, with Jacoby, you know, with Brian
40:56and, you know, now Parker, you know, and Josh Cameron is the fourth receivers, giving them
41:00some good plays as the Baylor kid.
41:02So it's almost like Cameron is kind of where Washington was a little bit of as a rookie.
41:07You know, he's playing a little bit spot situationally, offensively, and then he's done a good job
41:11on a kickoff return.
41:12So, you know, it looks like Cameron potentially has an opportunity to be a decent player.
41:15So, but that's, that's what you have with young players.
41:18So just, they got to get started.
41:20And again, might take them a little bit longer relative to some others, but, you know, there's,
41:25there's no necessarily timeline.
41:26And a lot of it is driven by the player's mentality, his work ethic, his mindset.
41:31And, you know, you can will yourself into becoming a better football player.
41:35Um, and I'd say that, that Parker's a really good example of that.
41:38Yeah.
41:38It was the second, it was the second Jaguars game in 2024 versus the Texans.
41:42That was the, that was the first time in his career at over a hundred yards.
41:45Yeah.
41:46And, uh, and then that was the game where I was like, wait a second.
41:49This kid's got, he's got to have, he's got to have more production.
41:51I remember saying to Seth after that game, or maybe the, I know he had a return for a touchdown
41:55last year.
41:56I'm like, okay, we need this kid to sit at like 35 or 40 catches so that we can sign
42:00him real
42:00cheap here.
42:01And then he blossoms into this, this stud, but he, he, he did us the disservice of blossoming
42:06as a Jaguar, Nick, unfortunately.
42:08He's going to make a lot of money.
42:10Yeah.
42:11Yeah.
42:11All right.
42:11So you're, you're headed to London.
42:13I know sometimes when you head to road games, you like to combo it with a trip, maybe to
42:19a college game.
42:20If there's geography nearby.
42:21So are you going to go scout like some soccer players for like kickers or rugby player or rugby
42:26or cricket?
42:27Don't they have cricket over there?
42:29How does that translate to football?
42:30No, there's actually, I think there's a Liverpool, Brent, Brentford soccer game on Saturday.
42:38We actually in the off season had an opportunity to speak with some folks from Brentford, you
42:43know, just kind of comparing notes and doing some different things.
42:46So there might be an opportunity just from a professional standpoint.
42:49So I think the game is Saturday afternoon.
42:51So maybe that, you know, maybe a few of us head over to that game.
42:55I don't think we'll be scouting anything other than like Guinness beer and whatever else
42:59there, but, um, so yeah, I mean, they're not playing like too many American football games
43:04over there.
43:04So, you know, JJ Watt could have helped us out a little bit and maybe gotten a train
43:08down from Burnley with a bunch of those.
43:10Uh, yeah, yeah.
43:12Hey, that's your responsibility.
43:14Like, why don't you see if he can, he can help us.
43:16Get on that.
43:16This is one of those, like JJ returns.
43:19JJ only returns 50% of my texts.
43:22Hitting him up for tickets might not be a return text.
43:26Nick Casario joining us.
43:27Nick, are you cool with Penta winning money in the bank last weekend?
43:30Yeah, I'm good with that.
43:31I didn't see it, but I, yeah, I'm good with Penta.
43:33Yeah.
43:33He, yeah, it seems like they're trying to promote him here a little bit.
43:36So it looks like our guy LA Knight, like had a chance, but didn't get quite over the
43:40hump there against Roman.
43:41Um, and then there are other guys show up.
43:43Did he make an appearance with his teeth?
43:45I don't, I didn't see him.
43:47No, I didn't see him.
43:48They, they do a good job with Dan house and they do a good job of just giving just a
43:51enough of him to keep us wanting more.
43:53They don't oversaturate us with him.
43:55Yeah.
43:55Him and Gunnar, him and Gunnar exchanging a bunch of pleasantries.
43:59Yeah.
43:59Were you able to like, cause you're on a road trip, you're in Nashville and like once
44:03meetings are over and everything, are you able to like peel yourself away and watch a
44:06little bit?
44:07Is there, are there other, are there other members of the staff?
44:09Like you gather in a room somewhere?
44:10Maybe get to watch like the main event?
44:12No, we weren't doing that.
44:13So I think I checked like the next day, like, Oh yeah, what happened here?
44:17So I think that's the answer the fans wanted to hear for sure.
44:22Oh, they're watching wrestling on a Saturday night.
44:24Yeah.
44:25No, we're not doing that.
44:26Nope.
44:26Uh, Nick Casario, Texans executive vice president and GM.
44:29Hey Nick, we always appreciate the time and the, uh, and the insight.
44:32Um, obviously rooting hard for you guys this weekend and in London to get that big win
44:36over the Jags safe travels over there.
44:38And we'll see you when you get back here to the homeland.
44:40I appreciate you guys.
44:41Take care.
44:41All right.
44:42Thanks.
44:42That's Nick Casario joining us on the show.
