00:00Text message real quick, and then we'll get to the Texans roster.
00:03Seth, there are people in line right now at the stadium, at the team store,
00:07that are listening to Payne and Pendergast on 95.7 The Fan,
00:10and I want to shout them out because they're texting in.
00:12Good morning, guys.
00:13The line has started for the rivalry jerseys.
00:16It's all the way out to the exit on Kirby.
00:20So if you know where the team's –
00:21They're on McNeigh and Kirby.
00:22Yeah, well, so the team store faces Bud Light Plaza.
00:27It's in Bud Light Plaza there on the south end of the stadium.
00:30So the line apparently is out that gate, I guess out the gate,
00:34where you come in that little parking lot there.
00:36So, wow.
00:38That's crazy.
00:40It's McNeigh, isn't it?
00:41No, McNeigh's further up.
00:43McNeigh's up near the bubble.
00:46Merworth is the only one I know.
00:48It's the only one you need to know, buddy.
00:49Steve McKinney used to have a funny way of saying Merworth,
00:52and it always made me chuckle.
00:56Westridge, Westridge is a –
00:58That's the one.
00:58It's Westridge.
00:59Yep, that's the one.
01:01Get Steve McKinney on the horn.
01:03I want to hear him say Merworth.
01:04Yeah, when you didn't pronounce it.
01:05It wasn't that he pronounced it weird or anything.
01:06It was like Steve's got a real funny, dry, kind of sarcastic sense of humor,
01:10and he would just say kind of Merworth.
01:12Because that's where you're going to practice, and it's like 100 degrees out,
01:16and he's like, I don't know.
01:17Let me just – I'll think about that while I'm walking down Merworth later.
01:21I can hear him.
01:23Oh, that's funny.
01:24So, yeah, shout-out to everybody.
01:26It's out to 610 where you exit, they're saying, the lines.
01:29Yeah, someone has the question, hey, are you guys coming out to get your rivalry jerseys today?
01:35And I said, probably not today.
01:36One, we have a radio show to do.
01:38Two, it's going to be crazy out there, which I think is awesome.
01:42I think it's a reflection, certainly, of the uniforms themselves,
01:47but I think it's a reflection of the enthusiasm that fans have for this team this year.
01:52It's very, very cool.
01:53So, if you're listening and you see people not listening to us,
01:57like not with the Odyssey app on their phones, tell them to get it in gear
02:00and start listening to us right now.
02:02If they refuse, tell them to go die.
02:04Okay, what was the most confusing thing about the follow-up to the 53-man roster yesterday for you?
02:14So, yeah, I did a live stream yesterday on my YouTube, and I was all lined up.
02:17I was so proud of myself because I had all the practice squad acquisitions and everything all in order.
02:24And then right before I click go live, and I'm notoriously late to my own live streams,
02:29I see Aaron Wilson report that Brevin Jordan has re-signed with the team.
02:34Brevin Jordan, after, as you pointed out earlier, Brevin Jordan put a goodbye post on his Instagram.
02:39Correct.
02:40Brevin Jordan's been re-signed to the team, and we have no idea exactly who he's displacing.
02:45Yep.
02:45So, I don't know what the hell's going on with the Texans roster right now, and I'm here for it.
02:49Nick, you know what Nick Stereo does, Sean?
02:51He doesn't look at your hard and fast rules about numbers and roster rules and everything.
02:57No.
02:58He's like a quantum physicist.
03:00Yeah.
03:01You're sitting there saying, like, oh, an electron's a tiny little particle, right?
03:04And he slaps you across the head with a textbook.
03:07He says, no, you idiot.
03:08It's more of an idea than anything.
03:10That's what he looks at the roster and the practice squad is.
03:13They're just kind of shifting waves.
03:16We don't know exactly what they are.
03:17So, for those who missed it, they put a bunch of guys on the practice squad that were in training
03:22camp.
03:22I'll rapid-fire the names, because if there's a name, you're like, oh, did they?
03:25I'll do this real quick.
03:26Okay, Dominic Bailey, Lewis Bond, Bryce Hall, Jamal Hill, Elijah Hussey, Jawar Jordan, Josh Kelly, James Neal, George Odom, Daniel
03:34Sobkowitz, Noah Whittington.
03:36I would say of all those names that I just gave out right there, the ones that Texan fans were
03:40probably most interested in were Lewis Bond,
03:43who I think a lot of people thought was going to make the team.
03:45They only kept five wide receivers, which could play into the Brevin-Jordan re-signing.
03:50We'll talk about that.
03:50And I think the two running backs, Jawar Jordan, because I think a lot of people thought Jawar Jordan was
03:54going to make the team coming into camp, and he didn't.
03:57And then Noah Whittington, who's an undrafted guy, on a team that had three undrafted to make the team, and
04:02he wasn't one of them, I think, is a little surprising.
04:05But they're back on the practice squad.
04:07The things that were most confusing...
04:09And also, real quick, Aaron Wilson reported they also have signed a tight end, and then Michael Tinsley, a receiver,
04:15to the practice squad as well.
04:16Yeah, from other teams. A tight end from the Saints, and Tinsley was on the Cincinnati Bengals.
04:21So those have not been announced yet.
04:25But the most confusing ones were the guys that it sounds like they're bringing back onto the 53-man roster.
04:31Right.
04:31One of them is Dominic Robinson, the defensive end.
04:34I thought that was one of the surprises at the outset was Sebastian Harsh, who had a good camp and
04:40a really good third preseason game.
04:41He made the team. Dominic Robinson didn't.
04:44And Dominic Robinson, according to Aaron Wilson, is coming back on basically the exact same deal that he signed, one
04:50year, four million.
04:51But there's some...
04:52And there was a plan to maneuver of some sort.
04:54Yeah, there's some administrative reason they're doing this, I guess.
04:56Well, you'll see this sometimes.
04:57You know, they did it with...
04:58John Weeks.
04:59Yeah, they did it with John Weeks a couple times, where they caught him with a plan to bring him
05:03back.
05:03So whatever that...
05:04Again, again, it's not...
05:07It's quantum physics, Sean.
05:08Don't try too hard to understand it.
05:09No, don't worry.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Brevin Jordan is back.
05:12Seth mentioned that.
05:14And he's back, and they're signing him to the roster.
05:16He missed most of the training camp with an injury.
05:18Obviously, he's missed the last two seasons with severe knee injuries.
05:23Made it all the way back for training camp, and then got hurt again.
05:26It was a patellar tendon, I think is what I saw.
05:29Signing him to the 53, which is weird for two reasons.
05:31One, as you pointed out, Seth, he had said goodbye to the fan base on Sunday.
05:37Yeah, this doesn't feel like it was a plan to maneuver like Dominic Robinson.
05:40Two, they're already overloaded in the tight end room.
05:44They're keeping four tight ends, which is, you know, most teams keep three.
05:47They're keeping four.
05:48Not a big surprise.
05:49Nick Caley loves those multiple tight end sets.
05:51And I will say this.
05:53The four tight ends that made the team, none of them made it by default.
05:56Like, they all deserve to be on the team.
05:58You know, Cade Stover, Foster Moreau, Marlon Klein, and Dalton Schultz.
06:03Those are the four.
06:04And I guess Brevin Jordan makes five, unless, I think you made a good point, which is, maybe
06:10they're viewing, you know, Brevin Jordan's style of play is not exactly that of a true
06:15inline tight end.
06:16Yeah.
06:17So maybe they view him as wide receiver five and a half.
06:20Right.
06:21Yeah.
06:21Like, he's a hefty slot receiver.
06:24And not that they have to think of him that way.
06:26I mean, he'll still be in the tight end meeting room.
06:28Sure.
06:28But I think that the most obvious place to look when you look at the overall roster was,
06:34okay, they kept 12 offensive linemen, which is two more than most teams will keep.
06:39That they're still planning on doing something with that offensive line to get it down to
06:4310.
06:43And then Dominic Robinson would give the defensive line 10 players, which is normal for a 4-3.
06:51And then things could balance out a little bit.
06:54But we have, we just have zero clue.
06:55So I would expect that we're going to get word of a, or something concentrated today.
07:00Yes.
07:01A trade or two, or maybe three or four.
07:03Yeah.
07:03There's, I think there's still a lot of maneuvering to do.
07:06Yeah.
07:06The Rams, by the way, when they were going super heavy tight ends last year, when they're
07:10dealing with their wide receiver injuries, I mean, they were going to go heavy tight end
07:13anyway, but they did have five tight ends on the roster while they were going through
07:17that phase of using 13 personnel all the time, the three tight end packages.
07:22So, I mean, it might be their plan that whenever Brevin Jordan comes back, he'd be one of five
07:29tight ends on the roster.
07:30With Brevin Jordan having a patellar tendon issue on the same leg as his knee, that's
07:37very, very common with ACL repairs because they take a slice out of your patellar tendon
07:42to create the graft.
07:44So, usually the hardest part of ACL rehab is, has nothing to do with the ACL itself or
07:50your new graft.
07:51It's the patellar tendonitis you get.
07:53Oh, okay.
07:53Because you're just, you're dealing, you're really, you're, you're rehabbing that patellar
07:59tendon as much as anything else.
08:01Yeah.
08:02Because you got to repair that patellar tendon.
08:03That happened to you?
08:05Uh, yeah.
08:05Yeah.
08:06I could tell you eight different stories.
08:08Really?
08:08Yeah.
08:08Okay.
08:09Yeah.
08:09So, that's a yes.
08:10I had to have, well, so we had, uh, because when I tore my ACL, I had already had patellar
08:14tendon surgery on that same knee.
08:16Yeah.
08:16So, they took, um, they ended up taking a patellar tendon from my other knee.
08:20Oh, great.
08:21Which, which was cool and it worked.
08:22No, and it makes it easier in some ways because then you don't have to rehab.
08:25You don't have all that stuff going on in the same knee.
08:28Oh.
08:28The problem was when I tore my ACL again, then all of a sudden I was out of patellar
08:33tendons to take from.
08:34Did they have to go cadaver on you?
08:36That's when, uh, yeah.
08:38Yeah.
08:38Yeah.
08:38Yeah.
08:39A cadaver patellar tendon?
08:41Yeah.
08:41Oh.
08:42Seth, they're going to call it Seth pain surgery.
08:44It's even more complicated than that, but I don't want to bore people with it.
08:46No, let's do the whole thing.
08:47I had all kinds of complications along the way.
08:49Larry and Stafford's been in line since 4 a.m.
08:51He said that there's been somebody in line there.
08:53Someone was there at 1 a.m.
08:55today at the team store to get their rivalry stuff.
08:57Oh, wow.
08:58Yeah, 1 a.m.
08:58This is like a new iPhone or, uh, uh, yeah, back in the day when albums would drop in
09:03the, in a physical form.
09:04Yep.
09:05Yep.
09:05The line is out to, or tickets, people sleeping out for concert
09:08tickets.
09:09Yeah.
09:09Now it's all on your phone.
09:10I miss that.
09:11You never get any, yeah.
09:12Dude.
09:12You're not going to meet your future wife and on the Ticketmaster app.
09:15Did you ever?
09:16No.
09:17Did you ever sleep out for concert tickets?
09:18God, no.
09:19God, no.
09:20I slept out for Hartford Whalers playoff tickets.
09:23Oh, really?
09:24Yeah.
09:25Back in the day, 1986.
09:25That's the big thing at, uh, at Cornell, like the hockey team is a big deal and it's
09:30a very small arena.
09:31So that was the one thing that students would really, yeah, students would camp out for
09:35a long time.
09:35You see that at Duke for basketball and stuff.
09:38It's pretty cool.
