Extreme storm chaser Aaron Jayjack in Hazlet, New Jersey, after a major nor'easter as crews repair power lines and clear roads following feet of snow that buried parts of the Atlantic coast.
Transcript
00:00Good morning from Hazlett, New Jersey, where the day after the storm recovery effort is fully underway here.
00:06We have mountains of snow all over the place that have been pushed off the roads, out of parking lots,
00:11and power crews that have been stationed here since before the storm that are eagerly trying to get power back
00:17online for the residents here in New Jersey.
00:20Now, many of these power crews were here before the storm actually started.
00:23They were piled up here at this hotel waiting for the storm to arrive.
00:27The storm arrived, and as soon as the storm, they were able to, they were already getting power back online.
00:32I saw crews working out of buckets immediately once the winds and the snow stopped.
00:38Power was restored quite quickly for a lot of folks here in New Jersey.
00:42Fortunately for me, I had power last night in my hotel, so that was a good thing.
00:46And we are starting to see power outages shrink here in New Jersey.
00:50But there's still plenty of snow left to remove,
00:53and much of the snow will likely have to be pulled out of here with buckets,
00:58trucks loading it out of here and dumping it off somewhere where they're going to try and get rid of
01:02all this snow.
01:03So big effort underway here in New Jersey.
01:06Lots of power crews here.
01:07And this is just one crew at this one hotel.
01:10There are many hotels across the area here that are filled with crews trying to support the recovery effort here
01:16in New Jersey.
01:17It was a big-time storm, a big bomb cyclone nor'easter that dumped feet of snow on the Atlantic
01:24coast.
01:25And we are trying to get this stuff cleaned up before more snow potentially arrives later this week.
01:30Reporting for AccuWeather, I'm Aaron J. Jack.
