Blizzard conditions led to a wide range of chaotic scenes on the Jersey Shore, as storm chaser Aaron Jayjack shows.
Transcript
00:00The snow has finally started to taper off here in New Jersey, but not before leaving
00:05behind a giant mess along the Jersey shore.
00:08Up to two feet of snow or more has fallen in some of the towns here along the coast,
00:13making travel difficult and walking almost impossible as snow as high as your knees covers
00:20the sidewalks here in New Jersey.
00:22Plows have worked all night and all day clearing roadways, leaving behind giant piles of snow
00:27all across the Jersey shore.
00:29Now, some residents here have been dealing with power outages.
00:32I've seen power lines down and tree limbs coming down from the heavy, wet snow that has piled
00:37up here.
00:37In addition to that heavy snow, we've also had very strong winds that have caused big
00:42drifts, trapping vehicles.
00:44It's going to take quite a while to dig some of these vehicles out.
00:47And once all this snow starts to melt, we are then going to be dealing with flooding
00:51issues.
00:52As you can see, this is very wet, heavy snow, good for snowball making.
00:56And that means it has a lot of water content.
00:58As that snow melts, it's going to start causing lots of flooding problems up and down the east
01:03coast.
01:04It is quite an apocalyptic looking scene here on the Jersey shore with everything snowed
01:08in.
01:09Hardly any vehicles on the road except for plows.
01:12Very few people out and about, but the people that are out are mostly walking around or trying
01:16to shovel their driveways clear, trying to snow blow their driveways clear.
01:20This was a powerful nor'easter that people will be talking about for many years to come.
01:25Reporting for AccuWeather, I'm Aaron J. Jack.
01:28Thanks for being here.
01:28We'll just get back.
