00:0050, heat number one.
00:02Look at this guy.
00:03You heard Seth Hamager mention how slick and edgy those whoops were.
00:07Ken Rockson looked pretty strong through those sections earlier today.
00:10Well, he did.
00:11And one thing about Ken, he's always been really good at this,
00:14and that's throttle control and precision with the throttle
00:17in situations where the track might be slick
00:22and you need to have that discipline with the throttle,
00:26putting that power to the ground.
00:27Man, he is an absolute expert at that.
00:30Good to see Christian Craig back on the 28.
00:33Big first-turn crash in a heat race last week.
00:36Broke some fingers, but he rode Presté.
00:39I talked to him after that.
00:40Here's the crash from a week ago.
00:42Watch the 28.
00:44He said he's feeling all right, actually, despite this.
00:47There was nothing he could do right there.
00:50Jason Anderson got caught up behind Justin Hill
00:54and just went straight into Christian Craig.
00:57Yeah, that was a bad sign there,
00:58but once Craig wrote yesterday, he said he's feeling fine.
01:01I said, how bad is it?
01:02He's like, you could even ride in this much pain.
01:05And I'm like, well, if I could do it, you could do it.
01:08So he must be about 100%, I'd say, on his scale.
01:12And then Jordan Smith finally getting a chance to race his triumph.
01:164.50 missed the first six races coming back from shoulder surgery, RC.
01:20Great to have Jordan back.
01:22And, you know, I think just go out there, get all the laps,
01:26and learn that 4.50, learn what these guys are doing,
01:30and just enjoy the moment of being back lined up behind that gate.
01:34Long time 250 rider in this series, getting his shot now finally on a factory 4.50.
01:42See how he does there as triumph looks to make a little history here.
01:45They did have Austin Forkner on the bike earlier in the campaign.
01:49He's out injured.
01:50So the number 20 will pick it up from here.
01:52Let's go racing.
01:544.50, heat one.
02:01Roxy going to try the inside.
02:03Going to lead Anderson, Ferrandez, Craig, and more.
02:07Absolutely love that drone shot on the start.
02:10And, man, look at that gap that Kenny's able to make.
02:14Triple tripling.
02:15Doesn't elect to do the quad going into that corner.
02:19Craig making the move on Ferrandez.
02:21Then Ferrandez fights back in the whoops.
02:25Ferrandez tries to, but Craig has the advantage on the inside.
02:31His two seem to find each other, even going back to their 250 days.
02:35There's been some close battling.
02:37We saw it even earlier this season between them.
02:39Ferrandez got to run it in deep.
02:41Nice pass by Ferrandez up the inside, making zero contact.
02:48Yeah, that was actually very nice considering.
02:50That was a really good pass by Dylan there.
02:53Great to see Dylan up front.
02:55But it's the Suzuki boys.
02:57One, two right now.
02:58The progressive Suzuki of Roxen.
02:59The twisted tee Suzuki of Anderson.
03:02They are teammates, just different sponsors there.
03:04And see if Ferrandez, as he and Craig go for the quad.
03:09Oh, Malcolm Stewart on the scene.
03:11Quick pass on Justin Cooper.
03:13Yeah, he sneaks up the inside.
03:14I don't believe that Justin Cooper was anticipating that.
03:18Malcolm came out of nowhere.
03:21And, man, was this guy rolling earlier today.
03:24And Malcolm's starting to feel a little bit better from that injury he had at the season opener in Anaheim.
03:30And I expect that he's going to continue to get better.
03:33And it's great to see him ride well.
03:36Ferrandez on the Red Bull.
03:37Troy Lee designs Ducati battling.
03:39And how about this?
03:40Anderson battling Roxen now.
03:42Alhombre came to play today here in Arlington.
03:46Love to see it.
03:47I mean, this is a previous Supercross champion.
03:51That's right.
03:52And his best qualifying effort of the season with fourth.
03:55So he's been feeling it from the afternoon.
03:58See if he can get a run on Roxen.
04:01It's a battle for ninth with Smith in tenth.
04:04Trying to get around Vince Freezy.
04:06Smith trying to quad there.
04:07Smith coming up short on the quad.
04:09That was a nice save.
04:11Getting a good run here.
04:13Jordan got a bad start.
04:15Kind of got bottled up there in the first corner.
04:17He was way behind.
04:18Played it safe the first couple laps.
04:21He shouldn't have a problem.
04:23Uh-oh.
04:23Ryder ahead.
04:24It might have been Noren.
04:25That's a free position right there.
04:28So.
04:28Yep.
04:30Noren loses the front.
04:31Goes down on the gizmo Yamaha.
04:34And the battle continues to be Freezy and Smith.
04:37And between Roxen and Anderson.
04:39It would be really important for Kenny to have a good run here tonight.
04:43And kind of a heartbreak situation last week in Seattle towards the end of that race.
04:49Him and Hunter Lawrence colliding.
04:51He lost a lot of points.
04:53He's 11 points out of the lead now.
04:56Wasn't able to get his bike fired back up quick enough.
05:00And if he could come out here and get on the podium.
05:03Salvage some points.
05:04That would be huge.
05:05Because he has done a great job all season long.
05:08Man, Malcolm Stewart on the gas here.
05:10Well, Malcolm was the fastest guy on the track last lap at a 49-4.
05:17Absolutely.
05:17Roland will.
05:19Yeah, and you said it earlier, Ricky.
05:20He's only going to get better and better.
05:22And that's what Malcolm told me yesterday.
05:24He did actually manage to get two days on the bike this week here.
05:28And last week as well.
05:29And he said that's made all the difference.
05:31Because right now what he's battling is the strength in that shoulder.
05:34And how he explained it to me was that that leads to trust.
05:38He said, I need to be able to trust it.
05:39And the stronger it gets, the more I can trust it.
05:41We talk about what a strong rider he is.
05:43But coming out of injury, it's incredibly impressive that he's doing it.
05:46And he also explained that he's having to kind of adjust his riding.
05:49He did that core injury.
05:50Now he's having to adjust back.
05:52So a lot going on for Malcolm Stewart.
05:54But he looks very competitive here today.
05:56No doubt about that as he goes after Craig, who's on the quad lock Honda.
06:00Knives up the inside.
06:02And not too far away for those leaders.
06:04No.
06:05Roxen and Anderson.
06:07Anderson definitely keeping Kenny honest right here.
06:12And man, these rhythm lanes are huge.
06:15Particularly this one.
06:16And Kenny is going through right here again.
06:19Triple, triple, quad.
06:20Quad, if you miss that quad, because you're so high and it's so far, it is going to be dirty.
06:28Precision these guys have.
06:30They've been perfect all night long, JT.
06:33What you got for about Roxen?
06:34Just watching these two go at it.
06:36I was trying to think when the last time I saw two Suzuki's battling at the front of a race.
06:41You know, one of the most heralded OEMs in the sports history.
06:45This made me 2009.
06:47Think about Chad Reed from Ryan Dungeon.
06:48He made a couple of 450 appearances.
06:50It has been a long time, Jason, since we have seen some yellow magic.
06:53Do we see a battle between Malcolm and Dylan heating up?
06:55Oh, I love Malcolm making that inside after the mechanics area worked to his advantage.
07:03That is great.
07:04That was an awesome pass by Malcolm Stewart.
07:07That line developing nicely here in this 450 heat.
07:13Look at that.
07:15Full send.
07:15Man, these guys are unbelievable what they're able to do on these machines these days.
07:20Jumping, what, 80-plus feet?
07:23You don't want to do part of that?
07:25No.
07:25You want to do part of that?
07:27Man, Anderson will just not go away with Roxen.
07:31And Malcolm is only 1.8 off the lead despite the bad start.
07:35He keeps rolling.
07:36We can have a three-rider fight before it's over.
07:38I think we have it.
07:39Here's Malcolm.
07:40I mean, this is incredible what Malcolm's been able to do in a short amount of time.
07:44I mean, the intensity is always high.
07:48In these heat races, for him to be able to reel these guys in, he's improved so much in the
07:55last week or two.
07:57Six in the main last week at that huge heat race crash.
08:00We thought he might have been done for the night.
08:02Oh, yeah.
08:02Comes back to get six in the main on a tough track, Malcolm.
08:04And further advancing, as is Anderson, looking for a running room now on Roxen.
08:12Malcolm was really fast in the whoop section and has been all day.
08:17How he's able to do that.
08:18I mean, he comes out of that corner, triples, and just sends it into the whoop's incredible whoop entry speed.
08:25All right, there's Anderson going to give it another try.
08:27Look at that inside line.
08:30Got to go over that table.
08:33So you lose a little bit when you come off the takeoff of that first tabletop,
08:38but then you gain the time about halfway to three-quarters of the way through the rhythm lane
08:43because you're able to get off sequence and stay lower and drive through the rhythm lane.
08:48Is he one of the first you've seen use that line like that, that inside line?
08:52Yeah.
08:53I saw him doing it in press day yesterday, a lot of the riders,
08:56and it's great to see that it's finally coming to work out.
08:58See the whoop entry speed by Malcolm.
09:00It might pay off, R.C.
09:04Anderson able to hold him off.
09:06Checkered flag is out.
09:07Wow.
09:08Roxen holds on.
09:09Great racing between all three of them.
09:12It looks like Perandis will come through next.
09:16Craig and Cooper.
09:18Disappointing ride.
09:19They're ending up in sixth.
09:20That is 55.
09:23Heat race wins for the career of Ken Roxen.
09:26You've got Tomac and Webb on the line for Heat 2 after this.
