00:04Tonight on MonsterQuest, there are specific areas of unexplained activity that exist all
00:13across the country. The Skinwalker Ranch continues to attract strange phenomena.
00:20Unexplained animal deaths, eerie encounters, strange lights in the sky.
00:25They are known as hotspots, locations where reports of unknown creatures and strange encounters
00:32happen over and over again. This creature is stalking me. It could have been torn up,
00:40you know, into pieces. For many centuries, people have reported strange and sometimes
00:47terrifying encounters with what they describe as monsters. Its eyes just lit up in the moon and
00:54were like, that is nothing I've ever seen. If I try to run, I'd be dead.
01:01Now, for the first time, some are sharing their experiences. Is there a pattern to their encounters?
01:09It was just terrifying.
01:12And if so, what could it mean?
01:22Skinwalker Ranch, a 512-acre stretch of land in Utah's Uinta Basin, has become one of the most infamous
01:31paranormal hotspots in the world. A place long associated with reports of unknown beasts,
01:37shadowy entities, and unidentified flying objects.
01:44Today, the ranch's current owner oversees scientific studies in an effort to understand the unexplained
01:51activity that seems to surround this land.
01:54While investigations are ongoing, reports of strange phenomena in the Uinta Basin are anything
02:02but new. The Ute tribe have stories dating back centuries that involve strange lights seen in the
02:09sky and also star people traveling here from other galaxies. There are a lot of tales from native
02:16people saying they had seen strange lights in the sky, but they aren't the only ones.
02:21Franciscan priests traveling in the area in the 17th century wrote in their journals about seeing
02:26strange lights in the sky that moved erratically and then would suddenly disappear.
02:32Similar reports continued into the 20th century. Since the 1950s alone, there have been more than 400
02:38reports involving lights in the sky.
02:40At one point in the 1970s, reported sightings became so frequent that local law enforcement
02:46stopped taking official reports.
02:49In 1994, the Sherman family purchased a ranch in the Uinta Basin with no idea of the history
02:58of the land it sat on. Land that would one day be the site of the infamous Skinwalker Ranch.
03:09Terry and Gwen Sherman are successful cattle ranchers looking to expand their business with a new property.
03:16When Terry and Gwen visit to check out the property, they say they love what they see.
03:22It's a strange house, but they believe the land is perfect. They decide to go for it and buy the
03:29ranch.
03:31As the family begins to settle into life on their new ranch, several unsettling events begin.
03:40While checking on their cattle, they claim to find these huge circular burn marks.
03:46Leading from the burn marks are also unusual animal tracks they say they can't identify.
03:53Their prized livestock start turning up dead all over the property.
03:58And the Shermans are concerned because they don't think it looks like it's from natural causes.
04:02They say the cattle have been mutilated.
04:05Further, organs and tissue have been removed with surgical precision.
04:13The Shermans press on, rebuilding their ranch and replacing their animals.
04:19But months later, they claim to come face to face with the creature they believe is behind the attacks.
04:29Terry, Gwen, and the children are outside tending to the cattle in the corral when they say they notice a
04:36large wolf.
04:37They say it's unlike any wolf they've ever encountered.
04:41It doesn't seem afraid of them.
04:44It's also incredibly large, maybe three times the size of a normal wolf.
04:50According to the story, this wolf lunges at a newborn cat, and it tries to pull it out of the
04:56corral.
04:58Terry grabs his .358 magnum, takes careful aim, and pulls the trigger.
05:04But nothing happens.
05:06There's no blood.
05:08But when he fires his last round, then he says the creature suddenly lets go and finally runs off.
05:16Terry and his son say they try to track the predator, but after about a mile, its tracks suddenly end,
05:24as if the creature has vanished.
05:29Terry searches for answers, but the only explanation he says he finds comes from Native American lore,
05:35which describes something called a skinwalker, a former shaman who takes on supernatural powers and can shapeshift at will.
05:44According to Ute lore, skinwalkers infest this entire region.
05:50It's said that their presence stems from a war that broke out between the Navajo and the Ute tribe in
05:55the 1840s.
05:57As the story goes, the Navajo called upon dark forces to curse the Ute,
06:02summoning skinwalkers to haunt and harass their enemies in retaliation for siding with the U.S. Army.
06:08Some people believe that the land where the Sherman Ranch sits is right in the heart of that cursed territory.
06:15Inside the Sherman's new house, they say things are unraveling as well.
06:21The TV and radio sometimes turn on and off by themselves, and clocks and appliances start to malfunction.
06:28These unusual incidents continue to escalate, and before long, Gwen says she's seen things happening in the house.
06:35Dark, shadowy figures in hallways and corners of the home.
06:39She believes these figures that she sees in the corners are dark entities.
06:44Over time, facing wave after wave of escalating and terrifying encounters,
06:49they say they start eventually sleeping in one room, with their weapons out.
06:56For the next several months, the family says it scrapes by,
07:01trying to survive the bizarre things that are happening on their ranch.
07:06Then, in the summer of 1995, about a year after the Shermans first move in,
07:12they say a series of tragedies pushes them to their physical and emotional breaking point.
07:19One night, Terry Sherman is outside, when he sees a huge orange orb in the sky.
07:26Beams of light come down from it, and Terry says it seems to scan the property from the sky.
07:34The orbs are so terrifying that the Shermans say their beloved dogs bring it to action,
07:40chasing after them into the woods, trying to protect the family.
07:46But the dogs never return.
07:49The Shermans desperately search for their beloved pets,
07:53only to find them in a wooded area, no longer alive, their bodies seemingly liquefied.
08:04In 1996, just two years after moving in, the Shermans decide to put their ranch up for sale.
08:12This seems like it's going to be a hard sell because of all the paranormal activity
08:16and the skinwalker sightings on the ranch.
08:18But after reading about the strange happenings on the Sherman ranch,
08:23a man makes an offer to buy the ranch for $200,000.
08:28It's less than what the Shermans paid for it,
08:30but they say to get out, they're more than happy to accept the loss.
08:37The Shermans tell a reporter for the Deseret News essentially everything that's happened.
08:41Their bizarre and unprecedented story fascinates and spreads worldwide.
08:48Their property earns a new moniker, Skinwalker Ranch.
08:53It's been decades since the Shermans sold Skinwalker Ranch,
08:57but the strange occurrences there continue.
09:00The Skinwalker Ranch is a notorious hotspot for chilling accounts of unexplained phenomena.
09:06But across the country, the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia,
09:11became the alleged home to another creature,
09:14what would come to be known as the Mothman.
09:21Between November of 1966 and December of 1967,
09:26there are more than a hundred sightings of this winged creature terrorizing Point Pleasant.
09:32The descriptions of this creature are different from anything else that had been heard before or since.
09:39They all describe a creature that's seven to nine feet tall
09:43with these huge, terrifying feathery wings and these glowing red eyes.
09:49And perhaps most frightening, this terrifying cry.
09:54One of those 100 sightings comes in November 1966 from Christina Bennett,
10:00who believes she was one of the first people to come face to face with the Mothman.
10:07We've been in Point Pleasant for generations upon generations.
10:10I had a great childhood growing up, you know.
10:14I mean, it was a close-knit family.
10:16Sunday dinners at Grandma's house.
10:19But that day, it changed.
10:23In November 1966,
10:27four-year-old Christina joins her aunt, uncle, and mother to visit her cousins.
10:34After a few hours, they prepare to drive home.
10:38It was just getting dark.
10:41And we were heading back to the car.
10:44And mother went to the passenger side with me.
10:50She just sensed that she was, she just kind of looked over her shoulder.
10:57And she thought, well, you know, that's odd.
11:02She saw the red eyes.
11:05It was like hunkered down like this.
11:09My mother was just, like, in so much shock that she couldn't move.
11:15She was frozen.
11:17I just remember looking up and seeing this creature.
11:25And that it screeched.
11:28My mother started screaming.
11:31I mean, she was just hysterical.
11:41November 1966.
11:44Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
11:47Christina Bennett says she and her family come face to face with a feathery red-eyed creature
11:53that will later become known as the Mothman.
11:58Uncle Raymond came around to the other side of the car.
12:02And he grabbed a hold of me and my mother and took us back into the house.
12:10It came up on the porch.
12:12And at that point, my cousins were terrified.
12:16They were screaming.
12:17We were all screaming.
12:18Don't go outside.
12:19Please don't go outside.
12:21They go to get the gun.
12:24Uncle Raymond said, I'll go outside.
12:28My uncle was, you know, a coal miner, Uncle Raymond, so he wouldn't have been afraid about anything.
12:34But he was even shaken up.
12:39I remember my mother saying, you're going to have to shoot it, Raymond.
12:43You're going to have to shoot it.
12:50But it's gone.
12:56It disappeared.
12:58Christina says they then call the Point Pleasant Sheriff and learn that they aren't the first witnesses to report a
13:05feathery red-eyed creature.
13:07The day before the Bennett's encounter, local police field a call from two married couples who report the presence of
13:14a strange creature lurking in the woods.
13:16According to them, among the trees are reflected back two huge red eyes.
13:24The four eyewitnesses say they're terrified.
13:27The driver peels off away from the creature.
13:31The eyewitnesses file a report, and they describe seeing the creature shoot straight up into the air, and then it
13:39followed their car flying back and forth across the back end of it, which is really quite impressive because they
13:46said they were going 100 to 105 miles per hour.
13:50Another witness actually described hearing the massive wings flap.
13:57One witness draws a rough sketch of this angry-looking creature.
14:02The Point Pleasant Register picks up on these mysterious sightings and publishes an article.
14:08Three days after that initial sighting, the Gettysburg Times cited eight other people who claimed to have seen the winged
14:15creature.
14:20Dozens and dozens of reports continue to pile up.
14:23The unique and uniform nature of the sightings take over local news.
14:28But it's what happens next that pushes the tiny town of Point Pleasant into the national spotlight.
14:36It was December the 15th, a year after the sightings started.
14:42Point Pleasant Silver Bridge is packed with bumper-to-bumper traffic,
14:46full of Christmas shoppers and commuters winding their way home.
14:51When suddenly, a deafening noise fills the air as the bridge begins to wobble.
15:00The steel suspension bridge collapses entirely.
15:0631 vehicles plunge into the frigid waters below, killing 46.
15:13It was traumatic for a small town.
15:17You know, it was 10 days before Christmas, and we have Christmas presents floating down the river,
15:23and people trying to find people.
15:28But there is a strange coincidence.
15:32That morning, several townspeople reported seeing a menacing winged creature flying near the bridge.
15:39In the aftermath, there is a popular theory that emerges,
15:43that Mothman being there was actually a warning of this disaster coming.
15:49After the bridge fell, my mother and Uncle Raymond, and Aunt Catherine also,
15:54they felt that the Mothman was the omen.
16:01This had a correlation.
16:04I really feel that it was a first-class warning.
16:09An investigation eventually reveals why the silver bridge collapsed.
16:14A fracture in an eye bar caused a suspension chain to give way,
16:18which toppled the entire bridge.
16:21But locals still debate whether the creature's reported appearance was a curse.
16:28I don't like being in Point Pleasant.
16:31I'll be honest with you.
16:33I can't put a name on it.
16:36I just have a fear.
16:42Point Pleasant isn't the only town with a cluster of mysterious sightings that ended in tragedy.
16:47In Texas, there's a long history of reports describing a muscular, bipedal creature with the face of a dog or
16:57wolf,
16:58often aggressive and sometimes violent.
17:02The official sightings date back to the late 1800s and are so common that many have given this hotspot a
17:10name,
17:10the Texas Dogman Triangle.
17:13The Texas Dogman Triangle is a 700-plus square mile area and it stretches across Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
17:22Dozens of encounters there have made it a modern hotspot for dogman sightings.
17:26Indigenous tribes in the area, like the Caddo, Comanche and Apache,
17:31have long-told stories of shapeshifters and spirit wolves.
17:36In the early 1800s, French fur traders reported run-ins with a lougarou,
17:42werewolf-like creatures that were said to roam the dense southern forests.
17:48In 2021, one case brings this Texas hotspot into national headlines,
17:53when a man was found dead, allegedly killed by an unknown canine.
17:58In 2021, just outside Dallas, Christopher Whitley is found dead in the woods with severe neck injuries.
18:07The cause of death is officially listed as injuries of the neck due to animal attack,
18:14with no reference to a mountain lion or any specific animal.
18:18After performing an autopsy, experts agree that the wounds do seem to belong to an animal,
18:23but no one can seem to agree what kind of animal.
18:27Monica Rawlings of Dallas, Texas, has a theory.
18:32She believes the creature that attacked Christopher Whitley
18:35is the same creature she encounters in 2013, the dogman.
18:45I remember the night very well. It's something I'm not going to forget.
18:51I had to pick my daughter up from work.
18:54The drive to her work takes me through a few areas, but it's generally considered very safe.
19:02It was between 11 and 11.30 at night.
19:07I'd done that drive probably 20 times.
19:10I was just kind of zoning out.
19:14At that point, I notice a feeling come over me.
19:19A wave, like this feeling, this sense, just this sense of danger.
19:26I make the turn onto the street.
19:29There is a pretty decent-sized pool of light from this one street light,
19:34and it illuminated quite a decent area.
19:38So as I'm driving, I see something moving low to the ground.
19:46I thought it was a dog.
19:49And it's coming towards the ring of light.
19:52I was 20 yards from it.
19:55It must notice me.
19:57It makes kind of a beeline for my vehicle.
20:04As it got closer, I'm turning my head to look at it.
20:09It starts, instead of this crouching run that it was doing, it starts bounding.
20:16My mind is telling me dogs don't hop like that.
20:20I am terrified.
20:27It's 2013.
20:29Monica Rawlings is driving through what many call the Texas Dog Man Triangle
20:34to pick up her daughter from work
20:36when she encounters what she describes as a menacing dog-like creature.
20:44It's a big animal and muscular.
20:49It did have, like, a hump on the back of its neck, like a hyena.
20:56And it had tall, pointy ears.
20:58And it had a long snout, but it wasn't long like a wolf.
21:02It was a blunted snout, kind of like a bear.
21:06The logical and rational part of my mind is very much at odds
21:11with the instinctual part of my body telling me,
21:16this is happening, this is real.
21:21My mind is telling me, don't look it in the eyes.
21:30I come to and I just punch that gas.
21:36I remember thinking, oh, I've done it now.
21:39I just ran, and that's going to trigger the predator-prey response.
21:44I'm flying down these, like, residential roads.
21:48There were several stop signs,
21:50and I blew through every single one of them.
21:55I'm terrified, and I am thinking,
21:57I'm going to feel this thing jump on the back of my car.
22:02And I wanted to get away from that sensation.
22:04I wanted to get away from the clear danger in my mind.
22:11I came to the shopping center that my daughter worked in.
22:15I parked facing the road,
22:17fully expecting to see this thing come out of the darkness.
22:27I remember thinking, they're going to find my car tomorrow,
22:30or with all the windows broken out,
22:32there's going to be blood everywhere,
22:33and nobody's going to know what happened to me.
22:38I am also concerned that my daughter
22:40is going to come out to the car right as this thing emerges.
22:46What do I do? Do I hit it with my car?
22:56She meanders on up to the car, taking her time,
23:00and the entire time, I am thinking,
23:03get in the car, get in the car, get in the car.
23:08When she finally opens the door,
23:12we start our drive home, and I am quiet.
23:16She asked me if I was okay,
23:17because I was just clearly driving in my own head.
23:22And I said, it's nothing.
23:25Let's just go.
23:26I've had a long night.
23:27I didn't want to tell her,
23:29because I was debating whether or not
23:31I wanted to tell anybody what I saw.
23:35I remember once we got home that night,
23:41I went straight to bed,
23:43and I laid there in the dark.
23:46Every time the wind would rustle a brush,
23:49or a leaf would scrape across a concrete,
23:52I would jump out of my skin.
23:54I would imagine this creature stalking me in the dark,
23:59just stalking me, watching me move,
24:01waiting to grab me,
24:02and take me to wherever it was it came from.
24:05I legitimately have a really hard time
24:09trying to rationalize where this thing came from
24:12in the middle of Dallas.
24:17I didn't know that there were so many sightings
24:21in this triangular area of Texas
24:23until I really started looking into it.
24:28Later, Monica discovers the Christopher Whiteley story
24:32and wonders if the killer responsible
24:35is the same creature she saw that night.
24:38I wasn't surprised.
24:40I wasn't surprised that one of these things
24:42had potentially killed a human.
24:46I know that officials were trying to say
24:48that it was a mountain lion attack.
24:50The game wardens are saying it's not a mountain lion.
24:53I don't know what killed them, but absolutely.
24:56I think it is within the realm of possibility
25:00that it was one of these dogmen.
25:08During the 1960s,
25:11Northern California's Klamath Mountains
25:13emerged as a major hotspot
25:15for alleged sightings of a strange,
25:18bipedal, ape-like creature
25:20known as Bigfoot.
25:24Multiple local and national newspapers
25:26regularly cover the mysterious encounters.
25:30For all the claims,
25:32there is little physical evidence.
25:35Until 1967,
25:38when two men claimed to capture the creature on camera.
25:43Rodeo cowboys turned filmmakers
25:45Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin
25:47head into the remote wilderness
25:49following reports of a strange, ape-like creature.
25:54Armed with a 16mm film camera,
25:56they're determined to capture
25:57what so many others have already claimed
25:59that they've seen.
26:00On October 20th,
26:01two friends are beside Bluff Creek,
26:0425 miles northwest of Orleans, California,
26:06when they see what appears to be
26:08a massive, hair-covered, bipedal creature.
26:11Patterson and Gimlin roll the camera
26:13on the creature for about 59 seconds.
26:16They refer to it as Bigfoot.
26:19The footage is rough.
26:21It's grainy and shaky.
26:23But it seems to capture the creature
26:25walking away from the camera,
26:27momentarily glancing over its shoulder.
26:29It defines the modern image of Bigfoot.
26:32Upright, muscular, and reclusive.
26:35Their film becomes the most widely recognized piece
26:39of cryptid evidence ever captured.
26:42Today, known as the Patterson-Gimlin film.
26:47But skeptics dismiss it as nothing more
26:49than a man in a costume.
26:5416 years later,
26:56in the summer of 1983,
26:59Curtis and Ray Jones believe
27:00they may have encountered
27:02the same type of creature
27:03captured in Patterson and Gimlin's footage
27:06when vacationing in the same mountain range
27:09where it was filmed.
27:12We were living in Wairica, California,
27:15which is right at the foothill
27:16of the Klamath National Forest.
27:21Me and my brother were 15 years old.
27:25Ray is, well, of course,
27:27he's my identical twin brother.
27:29We were outdoorsy all the time.
27:31We liked to go out and be adventurous.
27:33Yeah, we didn't have video games.
27:34We had to play physical games
27:36if we wanted to have any kind of excitement.
27:40Our game was kind of like a mixture of guns
27:43and hide-and-go-seek.
27:45It was just fingers.
27:46We just had to, you know,
27:47bang, bang, bang, bang type of game, you know?
27:49We didn't have any real set rules.
27:54Curtis and Ray divide teams.
27:58Ray and two friends stay at home play
28:01while Curtis and the other kids
28:03hide beyond the back fence.
28:06Probably about 8 or 9 at night.
28:09The sun was already going down.
28:12My brother had to count down from 100
28:15while my team took off.
28:19We laid down right next to that chain-leak fence.
28:24And we were waiting for the other team
28:25to come after us.
28:28But as Ray and his team turned
28:30to start searching,
28:31they see three figures.
28:34We could see these black figures.
28:36I'm trying to figure out
28:36if I can recognize some kind of clothing
28:38on them or something, you know?
28:40We were trying to focus on what they were.
28:44Beyond the back fence,
28:45Curtis and his team noticed
28:47the same obscure figures.
28:50My sister nudged me.
28:52She said,
28:52oh, the other team's walking across the field.
28:56Sure enough,
28:57three figures walking
28:58right through the middle of the field, basically.
29:02So we crawled
29:04and we're doing it real slow.
29:06And we'll have the element of surprise.
29:08And all I'm doing is just scanning around
29:10looking for the other team.
29:12While Curtis assumes
29:13the three figures on the field
29:14are the other team,
29:16back at home plate,
29:18Ray knows he is not looking at his brother.
29:21The way that they're walking,
29:23it almost looks like they're like marching
29:24in a certain way,
29:26like they're like synchronizing each other.
29:29The two little bit smaller ones
29:31went around the fence.
29:32The other one took like two leaps
29:34and it was over the fence.
29:41That fence was at least 10 feet.
29:43There's no way that I can just pick,
29:45go like this
29:46and leap over the fence like that,
29:47like this thing did.
29:50And that just scared me.
29:52And I go,
29:52they're not regular humans.
29:56And I go,
29:56man,
29:57could this be Bigfoot?
29:59You know,
29:59we've heard of Bigfoot before.
30:01You know,
30:01we've seen stories about Bigfoot.
30:05I was scared.
30:07You know,
30:07we knew my brother was over there still.
30:13The Klamath Mountains
30:15are a world-famous hotspot
30:17for Bigfoot encounters.
30:19In 1983,
30:21while playing within the mountain range,
30:23Curtis and Ray Jones
30:25see three obscure figures.
30:28One of the brothers witness
30:29a figure make an impossible leap
30:32over a large fence.
30:37Ray has identified the creatures.
30:40Curtis is oblivious.
30:43In the tall grass,
30:44he can't discern the dark shapes.
30:48Now I notice two figures
30:50sitting about 20 feet away from me,
30:53just slightly to my left.
30:56They were staring at me,
30:58these two figures.
30:59They weren't moving.
31:00They were just fixed up.
31:02They were fixated looking at me.
31:04I see a third figure
31:06come running,
31:07dashing right around the other two.
31:10It was covered in fur or hair.
31:13I could see the upper torso.
31:15I could see, like,
31:15the individual hairs.
31:17Those were three feet wide.
31:19Definitely on two legs.
31:21This thing was running so fast,
31:23and then it just made a beeline
31:25right straight towards me.
31:29I'm looking at this creature.
31:32Finally came to a dead stop,
31:33like 10 feet from me.
31:35I could see him or her
31:38tilt its head to one side
31:39like it wanted to say something to me,
31:41like it wanted to communicate with me.
31:45I was in shock at this point.
31:47That's how scared I was.
31:49I didn't know what else to do.
31:54And I started using my fingers.
31:58And I started going,
31:59bang, bang, bang.
32:01When I started doing that,
32:02when I started shooting
32:03after this creature,
32:07it just turned around,
32:08and then they just started,
32:09they started leaping real high
32:11in the grass away from me.
32:17That's when I started running toward the fence.
32:23My brother Ray,
32:24he just yells out,
32:26flat out,
32:26he just says,
32:27we just saw Bigfoot.
32:29That's all I heard.
32:31We saw Bigfoot.
32:32And that's when,
32:33that's when all the blood
32:34just rushed down
32:36from the top of my head.
32:38Never felt a fear like that before.
32:41Of course, you know,
32:42we don't want to admit
32:42that we were scared,
32:43but he was definitely scared.
32:45Like, I could see it in his face.
32:46At that point,
32:47I was trying to figure out
32:48what was going on.
32:49I was just,
32:49I was in total shock.
32:52I was physically shaking so bad.
32:56And I had tears come down my eyes.
32:59And my team was all
33:00gathered around me and stuff.
33:02It might take about hours
33:04to be totally more calm about it.
33:08The next day,
33:10Curtis and Ray begin researching
33:12the creatures they saw
33:13the night before.
33:15We decided to go to the library.
33:18So we're scanning through
33:19all these news articles and stuff.
33:21I've always seen that Patterson film.
33:23I didn't realize it.
33:24That was on the same mountain range.
33:26I didn't realize
33:27that that was that close,
33:28you know.
33:29And I found stuff way back
33:31that was in Wairica
33:32that date way back
33:33in the early 1900s,
33:35that that whole mountain range
33:37has the most sightings
33:39in California.
33:41Curtis continues to research.
33:43He questions why
33:44the reclusive creatures
33:45had ventured into
33:46the outskirts of Wairica.
33:48I came to find out
33:50that in 83,
33:51we were experiencing
33:52like a four or five year
33:53drought at the time.
33:54and my theory was
33:56that they were looking
33:56for food.
33:57The Klamath Mountains
33:59and the Pacific Northwest
34:00are the most fertile ground
34:02for Bigfoot encounters
34:03with hundreds
34:05of documented reports
34:06and a sustained history
34:08of sightings.
34:09Many have questioned
34:10if this mountain range
34:12which is its home.
34:13I'm so convinced
34:14what I saw was real.
34:17Nothing can change my mind.
34:18I don't care who you are
34:19or what you say.
34:21I'm going to believe
34:22what I saw.
34:23And that's it.
34:25The Pacific Northwest
34:26has become synonymous
34:28with the Bigfoot legend.
34:30While another region
34:31across the country
34:32has earned a reputation
34:33for something
34:34even more ominous.
34:37Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
34:39is known as
34:40the steel capital
34:41of the world.
34:43Many also allege
34:44that it's a hotspot
34:45for demonic possession.
34:48During its long history,
34:50there are reports
34:51of violent possessions
34:52at a boarding school,
34:54exorcisms
34:55at St. Joseph's house,
34:57and hauntings
34:58of a residence
34:59where Native Americans
35:00were massacred
35:01in the late 1700s.
35:04These strange
35:06and dark encounters
35:07continue to modern times.
35:09Pittsburgh is so plagued
35:11by the volume
35:12and severity
35:13of exorcism cases,
35:15the local Catholic diocese
35:17hires a full-time exorcist
35:19named Adam Bly.
35:21In his first 10 years
35:22on staff,
35:23Bly performs
35:24over 100 exorcisms.
35:28But Bly's not
35:29the only person
35:30in Pittsburgh
35:31helping those possessed.
35:33In 2022,
35:35Jennifer Flack,
35:37a 42-year-old therapist
35:39and counselor,
35:40claims to have performed
35:41an exorcism
35:42on a woman
35:43at one of her retreats.
35:45In 2022,
35:47I just started building
35:48these women's retreats.
35:49Just gather the women,
35:51have fellowship.
35:51We're talking about resentments
35:53or healing traumas.
35:54We've termed as
35:55the CPR for the soul workshops.
35:57The day's finished
35:58and most of the women left.
36:01I'm cleaning up.
36:02These two women lingered.
36:05Joy and her sister,
36:05Risa,
36:06are just amazing folks.
36:08They're just wonderful
36:09elementary school teachers,
36:11proper little Catholic sisters.
36:13Joy approached me
36:14and she said,
36:15my sister,
36:16she's dark.
36:17Then Risa is coming
36:18out of the bathroom.
36:19I just,
36:21by happenstance,
36:22put my right hand
36:23on her shoulder
36:23and I said,
36:24she's dark.
36:25Like,
36:26how?
36:26How could she,
36:27what do you mean she's dark?
36:28And when I laughed,
36:29I turned my head back
36:31and Risa's eyes were black.
36:38Pittsburgh,
36:39Pennsylvania,
36:40a city many believe
36:41is a hotspot
36:42for demonic possession.
36:45It's here
36:46that Jennifer Flack,
36:47moments after leading
36:49a women's retreat,
36:50encounters a woman
36:51whose eyes
36:52suddenly turn
36:53pitch black.
36:56She looked hollow.
36:58She looked like
36:59inhuman.
37:00Her head goes
37:02from pointing straight
37:03to weirdly
37:05snapping to me.
37:07She spit in my face.
37:11She called me.
37:15Whatever was talking
37:16to me was not Risa.
37:18It was not her.
37:20I couldn't get
37:21my right hand
37:22off of her shoulder.
37:23Like,
37:23I had stuck to her.
37:26It was a very
37:28strong magnetism.
37:29I was trapped.
37:32She was grinding
37:33her teeth.
37:34It was so loud.
37:35I thought there was
37:36only going to be
37:37dust or fragments
37:38of her teeth.
37:40My hair was
37:41standing up on end.
37:43I was sick
37:44to the core
37:45of my being.
37:46Like,
37:46I just wanted
37:46to vomit.
37:47So I put
37:48my other hand
37:49on her.
37:53It hated me.
37:54It felt like
37:55I was going to die.
37:56I felt like
37:57this was,
37:57I wasn't getting
37:58out of this cabin.
37:59And Joy at this time
38:00I already had started
38:01crying.
38:01And I said,
38:02pray every prayer
38:02you've ever known
38:03that you've ever learned
38:04and don't stop.
38:06I am praying
38:07to every
38:08and all entities
38:09that will answer me.
38:11God,
38:11Jesus,
38:13Mother Mary.
38:13She begins to make
38:15this guttural noise
38:16that sounds kind of
38:17like a moan
38:18and a growl together.
38:21I felt like
38:23I was making
38:23whatever was in there
38:24angry.
38:26Risa's head
38:27turned so fast
38:28it didn't seem human.
38:29And she says,
38:31get that
38:32out of my pockets.
38:33And it was not
38:35her voice.
38:37It sounded like
38:38a deep,
38:39male,
38:40scary voice.
38:42And it was raspy.
38:44It was gross.
38:45I asked Joy,
38:46I was like,
38:47what's in her pocket?
38:48She said,
38:49I put the olive branch
38:50cross in one pocket
38:51and the sacred heart
38:52of Jesus in the other
38:53pockets.
38:53I said,
38:54put them on her skin.
38:55She slid the cross
38:56in between my
38:57right thumb
38:58and the back
38:58of Risa's neck.
39:00And she held
39:01the sacred heart
39:02of Jesus
39:03on her chest.
39:07It literally looked
39:08like something
39:09poked out of there.
39:10This was far more
39:11than just evil.
39:13This felt demonic.
39:15We're both praying.
39:16We're both,
39:17I know I was sweating.
39:18I was crying.
39:19I don't know what I said.
39:21I just remember
39:22asking for God to help.
39:26It was spiritual warfare
39:27and we were at war
39:28for her soul.
39:30I heard this loud pop
39:34and she falls
39:35out of my hands
39:36onto the floor
39:37and she's coughing
39:38and gagging
39:39and choking.
39:41And this smell
39:42came out of her
39:43that smelled like
39:45rotten meat and death.
39:46It smelled like
39:47if hell had a breath,
39:48it took a breath
39:49and let it out.
39:50She crawled a few steps
39:52to get onto her feet.
39:54She went running
39:54to the bathroom.
39:56She was still choking
39:57and gagging
39:58and it sounded like
39:59something was coming
40:00out of her.
40:02She started throwing up
40:04in the bathroom
40:05and in that moment
40:06I just felt like
40:08there was something
40:08evil there.
40:10Like it was in the room
40:11with us.
40:18I just went to the front door
40:20and opened the cabin door.
40:22It went past me
40:24and when it did
40:26I felt it
40:28and it was large,
40:29tall looking
40:32and I don't know
40:33what else to describe it as.
40:34Whatever the energy was
40:36it was pissed.
40:38it lost something
40:40that it wanted
40:41and it was angry with me
40:43and I felt that.
40:46And when I shut the door
40:47I felt like I locked it out,
40:49like I shut it outside.
40:51My body's soaking wet.
40:53You could wring sweat
40:55out of my clothes.
40:57Joy's still crying.
40:59She was terrified.
41:00Risa, when she emerged
41:01from the bathroom,
41:02she sat on the couch.
41:03She looked right in my face
41:04and asked me
41:05if that was the devil.
41:07And I said,
41:09I don't know what it was
41:10but it wasn't God.
41:12The ordeal finally ends,
41:15leaving Jennifer
41:16with only questions
41:17about what had occurred.
41:19I had called her
41:21the next morning
41:22and I said,
41:23how's everybody doing?
41:24I'm just checking in.
41:26I mean, she said to me,
41:27she said,
41:27did I do anything bad to you?
41:29Then I said,
41:30no, that's okay.
41:31She said, I'm sorry.
41:32I said, it's okay.
41:34She had no idea what happened.
41:36I literally told them
41:37to go to their priest
41:38and tell them
41:38what had happened
41:40at their home church.
41:42And she said,
41:43absolutely not.
41:44We didn't even tell our husbands.
41:45We're not telling anybody.
41:47We're never talking about this again.
41:51I can't forget whatever that was.
41:53That was not,
41:54that was not a human
41:55disembodied spirit.
41:56That was evil.
41:57That was pure evil.
41:58I can feel it.
41:59I can smell it.
42:01I will know it
42:02for the rest of my life.
42:03It's seared in my soul.
42:06Some places are magnets
42:08for terrifying creatures,
42:11paranormal activity,
42:13and dark entities.
42:17These hotspots
42:18alter the lives
42:19of the witnesses
42:20who question,
42:21is it safe?
42:24Are they still there?
42:26are they still they are?
42:27Who are they still
42:30See they here?
42:31They're simply
42:31س retrouved
