00:00Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
00:21Well, thank you very much. This is a big day and lots of people watching and especially from
00:29other countries, the leaders of, as you know, the other countries, because we have a large group of leaders and
00:37the ones that aren't here are watching on Zoom. I hope they enjoy it. And the press, we appreciate it
00:45very much, so respectful. You've been so respectful of what we're doing. What we're doing is very simple, peace. It's
00:51called the Board of Peace and it's all about an easy word to say but a hard word to produce,
00:57peace.
00:58But we're going to produce it and we've been doing a really good job and some of these leaders that
01:04are with us have helped me very much during just this first year. We have a first year like probably
01:09no other ever in our country because we settled eight wars and I think a ninth to come.
01:19It turned out to be a tougher one. I thought that was going to be the easiest one. But with
01:24war, you never know what's easy and what's not so easy. But we've had a great relationship and I've become
01:30friendly with so many of the people and I appreciate you being here.
01:35These are great people. These are great leaders and the people that are watching by closed circuit and open circuit
01:42in many cases. They're so proud of it. They want it to be open, but they're they become incredible friends
01:48of mine and you know, we rebuilt our country in my first term and now we're at a point that
01:57the United States has never seen before.
01:59We broke 50,000 on the Dow. They said that would take four years. We broke 7,000 on the
02:07S&P. They said you couldn't do that within four years. It would be impossible.
02:11And when I came in, they were all saying if you could get to anywhere close to 40, 45,000,
02:17it would be amazing achievement over four years. Well, we hit 50,000 in the first year and we had
02:237,000, which was actually tougher to do according to the Wall Street geniuses.
02:28We hit 7,000 in the first year. They said it could take four or five years. They'd be very
02:34happy. It would have been a great job. We did it in one. But we're doing we're doing a great
02:38job.
02:39Board of Peace is one of the most important and consequential things I think that I'll be involved in. We've
02:45been involved in a lot. And really, I've been involved in a lot with the people up here.
02:53We worked together on ending wars with their country. Some of the wars were 32 years long, 32, 34 and
03:02a 37. That's a long time. And we ended it in about two days, each one of those.
03:09But we have some other work to do and we're getting it done. Gaza is very complex. It's been amazing.
03:16I want to thank Steve and Jared for an amazing job. Marco's over there watching. Everybody's fantastic.
03:24And JD, what a job. They're all doing this. It's a team. I think it's the best team ever assembled.
03:30And you see that by the results.
03:32So today is a tremendous honor to welcome you all to the United States Institute of Peace for the inaugural
03:40meeting of the Board of Peace. Very important.
03:44I believe it's the most consequential board, certainly in terms of power and in terms of prestige.
03:50There's never been anything close because these are the greatest world leaders. Almost everybody's accepted and the ones that haven't
03:59will be.
04:00Some are playing a little cute. It doesn't work. You can't play cute with me. But they're playing a little
04:05bit. But they're all joining everybody. Most of them very immediately.
04:13A few that we really don't want because they're trouble. Take care of them. But this is the most prestigious
04:22board ever put together.
04:24You know, I've seen some great corporate boards. I've seen some great boards, period. It's peanuts compared to this board
04:31because we have virtually everyone is the head of a country other than Johnny.
04:37But he's the head of soccer. So that's not so bad. Right, Johnny? I like your job the best, I
04:41think.
04:42And by the way, your World Cup has set every single ticket record in the history of soccer and the
04:49history. Nobody's ever seen anything like it. The sales are virtually complete. Nobody's ever seen anything.
04:57So congratulations. You made a good decision. We did it together. Thank you, Johnny. Great guy.
05:03So I want to thank the many leaders and dignitaries who have traveled great distances and lengths for the important
05:11gathering that we're at right now.
05:15This building was built for peace and nobody knew what to name it. And then Marco named it after me.
05:20I had nothing to do with it. I swear I didn't. I swear I had no idea.
05:24They said there's a surprise coming. I didn't know that surprise. I thought they were going to give me a
05:29lot of money or something, maybe cash.
05:31You can always use some extra cash. But I came and they stopped the beautiful beast. I got out very
05:38safely, I'm sure, and looked up and there it said,
05:42Donald J. Trump on the building. And when I say that that was, had nothing to do, nobody believes it.
05:48And that's okay. But I appreciated it.
05:51There was Marco and JD and a group got together and they did that. And I just thought it was
05:55very nice. And it makes me work harder.
05:58We're going to have to work harder. We're going to have to make this building much more important. They built
06:01it. It's brand new.
06:02They built it for peace, but nobody occupied it. You know, nobody knew what the purpose of it. But the
06:08architecture is so beautiful.
06:10And it was with the meeting rooms, the reception rooms. It's really amazing. Who would think that it was built
06:18without anybody in mind or anything in mind?
06:22And then the State Department took it over. They liked it. Marco came over one day. He saw this. He
06:26said,
06:27This building is great. And he actually claimed it. Right? He claimed it. And that's what he does.
06:34He says, Where is Marco? I say, Marco? Is that true? You claimed this building. You took it away from
06:38about five groups that wanted it.
06:40It was โ that was done very quickly, very methodically. But it was really, really built so beautifully and such
06:46a beautiful building.
06:47But we worked together to ensure the brighter future for the people of Gaza, the Middle East, and the entire
06:54world.
06:54I think that the Board of Peace โ because it's mostly leaders and unbelievably respected people, but mostly leaders of
07:03Middle Eastern countries, countries from all over the world.
07:08And they've been very generous with money also. And the United States, which I'll say in a moment, is also
07:15very generous with money.
07:18Because there's nothing more important than peace. And there's nothing less expensive than peace.
07:23You know, when you go to wars, it costs you a hundred times what it costs to make peace.
07:30And we have a man at the end right there that's smiling because you learned that after 30 years of
07:36fighting, right?
07:3730 years of fighting. We got it done. I want to thank you very much.
07:40That was a great thing you did. You and your new friend.
07:45They came to my office and they said, I've been fighting for 22 years.
07:49Now you're there for 23 years, right? But I've been fighting for 22 years.
07:53It's all I've done is fight this gentleman. And his counterpart was there for seven years.
07:59He said, I've been there for seven years. All I've done is fight this gentleman.
08:03And we had it worked out in about 24 hours, right? And it's been a good piece of that.
08:06I think they've become friends. I'm not sure I'm allowed to say that, but I think so.
08:10I think they've become friends, right? Right. Right. Stand up. Stand up.
08:20These are two tough cookies. You think that was easy? It wasn't easy.
08:26These are two tough people. Good people, but tough people.
08:29But, you know, we're in the Oval Office. And we were getting near.
08:34But the one was at one side of the room. I have two chairs right in front of the desk.
08:38The beautiful, resolute desk. One's over here. One's on the other side of the room.
08:44I said, folks, could you get a little closer? Well, I don't know. They felt very uncomfortable.
08:47You know, they've been killing each other for 32 years.
08:51So I say, can you get a little closer? After one hour, they were right next to each other.
08:56We made a deal. They hugged. They signed.
09:00And we had peace with two very important countries. And I'll never forget it.
09:05So they started off a little weak and they ended up really strong.
09:09And you can be very proud of yourselves. It was a beautiful thing to see. Thank you.
09:14Look at that. Can you believe it? 32 years.
09:20Thank you. Thank you very much.
09:26But we're honored to be joined today by Prime Minister Rama of Albania.
09:34President, where is President Millet? You're another one. I'll tell you.
09:39Where is President? I endorse him. I'm not supposed to be endorsing people.
09:45But I endorse, when I like people, you know, I've had a very good record of endorsing candidates within the
09:52United States.
09:52But now I endorse foreign leaders, including Viktor Orban, who's here, and others.
09:59And I endorse this gentleman, Millet. He was a little behind in the polls. He ended up winning in a
10:05landslide.
10:06I just endorsed the Prime Minister of Japan. She was in a tight race, but was probably going to win.
10:11And she won in the largest number in the history of Japan. So she likes me a lot.
10:18But it was an honor. And you're doing great. Oh, look, they're sitting right next to Viktor.
10:22I think โ but ultimately, I think I'm going to end up endorsing โ hey, look, as long as it
10:26works, it's okay with me.
10:27But the endorsement seems to be working in foreign countries, too, so that's good.
10:31But nice to have you both, Viktor. Nice to have you both. I'm very proud of you.
10:35The Prime Minister of another โ really just a great guy โ Pashinyan of Armenia.
10:48Aliyev of Azerbaijan. I love saying that name now, you know. At the beginning, it was giving me a hard
10:53time.
10:54Now I love saying it. It's a beautiful name. I love it.
10:58His Majesty King Hamad bin Esa al-Khalifa of Bahrain. Bahrain. Thank you. Thank you. Where are you?
11:10Where are you? He's so rich, he can sit there. He can sit wherever the hell he wants.
11:17You know? He can sit up in the corner. He can sit up top.
11:22You might take a piece of this building, Marco. You'll take 25 percent of the building for about six billion.
11:30Thank you. And you've been very generous also. We appreciate it.
11:34Prime Minister Hoon Manet of Cambodia. Raise your hand wherever you may be.
11:41Because โ yeah. Hi. How are you? Congratulations. That was another one, right?
11:46We did a good job with that one. Prime Minister Mard Burli of Egypt.
11:54Thank you very much. And say hello to the general slash president. Okay?
12:02Prime Minister Orban of Hungary, who has my complete and total endorsement for election.
12:08Not everybody in Europe loves that endorsement. But that's okay. He does an unbelievable job.
12:14He's done an incredible job on immigration. Unlike some countries that have hurt themselves, but they're working on it.
12:22But I just want to let you know, you have my total and complete endorsement. And I'm putting it out.
12:27I already did, but I'm putting it out again.
12:29And you're coming up with an election. And I think you should be good.
12:34I'll tell you. Millet did pretty well. He was a little down, right? And then he was โ he ended
12:38up winning in a landslide. So that's pretty good.
12:40You're going to do great, Victor. Thank you very much for being here. I appreciate it. You run a great
12:45country.
12:46A man that I really like a lot is โ he's definitely tough. I don't want to fight him.
12:55President Prabowo of Indonesia. Thank you very much. Please. This is a big guy. I tell you, I said, how
13:03many people in Indonesia?
13:05He said, like, 240 million. I said, no, no. Say it again. How many? It's a big country you have.
13:11And you do a great job and respected by everybody. And thank you very much for being here. Thank you
13:16very much, Mr. President.
13:20President Tokayev of Kazakhstan. Thank you very much. What a country that is. It's a wonderful country and a rich
13:30country, in case anybody has any question.
13:32We have some very rich people here today. President Osmani of Kosovo. President. Thank you very much. Great. Great job
13:43you're doing, too. Thank you very much.
13:45Prime Minister Sharif. I like this man. Of Pakistan. Because there was some fighting going on when I got to
13:56know him. And your field marshal? General. Great, great general. Great field marshal. Great guy.
14:06And I got to meet the prime minister. And he said in front of our chief of staff, Susie Wells,
14:12who's right here. He said, you know, nobody knows us, but I believe that President Trump saved 25 million lives
14:23when he stopped the war between us and India. Right? You made that statement.
14:28And I said, 25 million lives could have been much more, actually. But it's, it was really a beautiful thing.
14:35You said that in front of a group of people that was, they walked out, they don't think about it,
14:39but you're talking about that kind of lives.
14:41That war was raging. Planes were being shot down, right? And it was Pakistan and India. And I got on
14:49the phone with both of them, and I knew them a little bit. I knew Prime Minister Modi very well,
14:55actually.
14:56But I got to know Pakistan through a little trade. They were trying to make too good a deal, and
15:02I got a little upset with them. And in the end, they got what they wanted. Right? And they made
15:07a good deal.
15:09And I got to like them, the Prime Minister, the Field Marshal, who's a tough man, a tough, good fighter,
15:15right? Good, serious fighter. I like good fighters, actually.
15:20And when I heard that they were fighting, I picked up a certain newspaper. I won't tell you which one,
15:24because it's fake news generally. But I picked up this newspaper, and I saw that Pakistan and India were really
15:31going at it.
15:32And then it got worse and worse, and planes were โ many planes were shot down. It was all out.
15:39And I called them, and I said, listen, I'm not doing trade deals with you two guys if you don't
15:45settle this up.
15:46They said, no, no, no, that has โ both of them, they didn't want to do that. I said, no,
15:49it has to โ if you don't do it, I'm not doing a trade deal.
15:53We're not doing a trade deal. And they do a lot of business with the United States, and they sort
15:59of softened up all of a sudden.
16:01And then all of a sudden, I read where there was a little bit of a pullback by one, then
16:04the other. And all of a sudden, we worked out a deal, right?
16:08But I said, if you fight, I'm going to put 200 percent tariffs on each of your countries, which essentially
16:15makes you not allowed โ you know, you can't do any business.
16:20One of them โ I won't say which one โ said, no! Can't do that. They both wanted to fight.
16:27But when it came to money โ nothing like money โ when it came to losing a lot of money,
16:32they said, I guess we don't want to fight.
16:35And we solved that deal in two, three days, right? And we did. We said, these are two very powerful
16:40โ these are two nuclear nations.
16:43And I don't want to say what was going to happen, but, you know, bad things happen.
16:49So, Prime Minister, I want to thank you, because that was a big โ that was a very big deal.
16:52People have no idea. A lot of them say, oh, well, they weren't fighting. They were fighting.
16:57Eleven jets were shot down โ very expensive jets. And they were all in. Both of them were all in.
17:03And now they're not. And I think we'll always be able to settle up with them. I really do.
17:08I think you're going to have โ you know, it's โ a lot of progress was made, even in the
17:12relationship.
17:13And Prime Minister Modi also. He's a great man. He's a great guy. They're all great.
17:18But I was very proud of it.
17:21President Pena of Paraguay is here. President. President, thank you very much.
17:27Young, handsome guy. It's always nice to be young and handsome. Doesn't mean we have to like you.
17:33I don't like young, handsome men. Women? Yes, I like. Men? No, I don't have any interest.
17:43Good. That's right. That's right. Thank you very much. You're doing a great job, too.
17:48His Excellency Prime Minister Al Thani of Qatar โ just a great man. Please, a great man and highly respected.
17:59And he's working with a man who is amazing. I always say he needs a public relations agency because you
18:08do so much good, and they have you down as evil.
18:11And you're not evil. You help us so much. And you're such a good ally. And I just want people
18:17to know that.
18:18And the emir is incredible. Smart. Smart as you can be a great leader. And he cares so much for
18:26the people. And he cares so much for the Middle East.
18:28So I want to thank you very much and send my regards. Your country has been a great help.
18:33You know, surprising to some of the people riding out there. But now they'll start changing their tune because it's
18:38true. I only tell the truth.
18:40Prime Minister Don of Romania. Wonderful people. The Romanian people are fantastic, fantastic people, like you're fantastic.
18:51And a lot of them come and work in this country and help us in this country, as you know.
18:55And it's โ they are just really, really solid people.
19:02President Mirzoyev of Uzbekistan, who is โ where? There he is. And a friend of mine.
19:12He's got one of the most difficult names in history. But that's okay. It doesn't matter.
19:17Your country is doing great. You're doing great. And just no problems. Every time I see him, nope, we're doing
19:23good. No problems.
19:25And General Secretary Tho Lam of Vietnam. Vietnam is incredible as a country and as a force.
19:34And it's an honor to have you. A really great honor to have you. A lot of respect. A lot
19:39of respect for your country.
19:40We also want to express my gratitude to Vice President J.D. Vance, who is a fantastic man.
19:47He's a fantastic talent. He was a great student. He went to one school. He graduated.
19:56You know, most people, if you watch some of the people that were at the event in Munich, they didn't
20:01graduate quickly from college.
20:03They had everything they could do. There was one young, attractive woman. She was unable to answer questions.
20:12And she didn't do so well like J.D. did in college. J.D. graduated in a four and a
20:17half year college in two years.
20:19And then he went to Yale and he graduated at the top of his class. Went to the military grade.
20:26But when he went to Yale, there was one person that was marginally ahead of him. So he married her.
20:31Can you believe it?
20:32He married the person that was ahead. I don't know. I always like to say J.D. was first and
20:37Usha was second.
20:39Because I get a little uncomfortable when I say that. But he's been incredible.
20:45He's a brilliant guy and a great guy. And he's been my friend. All of our people.
20:48We have a fantastic group of people. Our cabinet members. Many of them here.
20:55But J.D. has been great. Thank you very much. He gets a little bit tough on occasion.
20:59We've got to slow him down just a little bit on occasion. He says his mind.
21:03Now then we have the opposite extreme. We have your friend sitting in the back.
21:07Your best friend sitting in the back is Marco. Marco does it with a velvet love.
21:13But it's a kill. Right?
21:17The result is the same. They do it very differently.
21:20And Marco, you really did yourself proud two days ago in Munich.
21:25In fact, so proud that I almost terminated his employ.
21:30Because they were saying, why can't Trump do this?
21:33I do. But I say it differently. But Marco, don't do any better than you did, please.
21:41Because if you do, you're out of here.
21:44But no, I want my guys to do great. And the acclaim he's gotten.
21:49And the acclaim J.D. gets is great. We have smart people.
21:53And when you see the representatives there, like Gavin Newsom, he didn't know what he was doing.
22:00They didn't even know why. He didn't know why he was there or AOC.
22:04She was unable to answer a simple question.
22:08And she could have said, well, I'm studying it and I'll report back to you next week.
22:12You know, you can get away with that.
22:14But she just went, uh, uh, it's actually, I think it could be a career ending answer.
22:20Because for 25 years, anybody running against her, I think Susie is going to use that, that little piece of
22:28stuff.
22:29It was not good. It was not good. That was not a natural.
22:33So I want to thank J.D. I want to thank Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
22:37They're extraordinary. I want to thank Special Envoy for Peace, Steve Witkoff, who has been unbelievable.
22:46You know, I took Steve because I was a developer in New York, really successful.
22:50Actually, much more successful than Steve, but I don't want to say that.
22:53I'm not going to say that, Johnny. I refuse to say it.
22:57But I saw something in Steve. Steve's a great negotiator.
23:00Everybody loved him. All these developers, and they're tough.
23:04You know, New York developers tend to be on the tough side.
23:08And, you know, most of them hate each other.
23:10Like a lot of the people in this room hate each other.
23:13You know, it's sort of natural, I guess.
23:14But we're bringing love back into the room like the old days.
23:17But everybody loves Steve.
23:19Every developer, the worst, most evil people, horrible human beings, actually.
23:24And they love Steve.
23:26So I remember this, and we had some conflicts, to put it mildly, in the world.
23:31And I said, Steve, how would you like to be Henry Kissinger Jr. that doesn't leak?
23:37And he said, are you a leaker, Steve?
23:39No.
23:39He didn't even know what the word meant.
23:41And it's true.
23:42I always say, Henry Kissinger, who was one of the great leakers of all time, by the way.
23:46Richard Nixon said to him, Henry, Henry, who's leaking all this stuff?
23:50I don't know, Mr. President.
23:52It was Henry that was leaking.
23:54These are little stories I like telling you.
23:57But Steve has been unbelievable.
23:59Everybody likes him.
24:02Ukraine loves him.
24:04Europe loves him.
24:06Russia loves him.
24:07I mean, there's nothing wrong with this.
24:09He goes to see President Putin.
24:11Didn't know Putin.
24:12I set him up a meeting to see.
24:14I said, how's Steve doing?
24:15Sir, he's still inside.
24:17Oh, that was an hour.
24:19I call back, tell Steve to call me when he's finished.
24:22I want to find out what the hell is going on.
24:23We want to end that war.
24:25Sir, he's still inside.
24:26Three hours, four hours.
24:29They were together for four hours, the first meeting.
24:32That's talent.
24:33And they get along.
24:35I mean, people like or don't like Putin or Zelensky.
24:40They get along.
24:41Same thing with Zelensky.
24:42I mean, they they all love Steve and Steve's doing a great job.
24:46That's a tough one.
24:47That's a much tougher one.
24:48I would have thought that some of the ones that we settled that are up here would have
24:53been would have been.
24:56I thought this would be easy because I have a very good relationship with President Putin.
25:00I have a very good relationship with President Xi.
25:02I'm going to be going to China in April.
25:04It's going to be that's going to be a wild one.
25:06I said, but we have to put on the biggest display you've ever had in the history of China.
25:11You know, last time I went to China, President Xi, he treated me so well.
25:16He gave me a display.
25:17I never saw so many soldiers all the same height, exactly the same height within a quarter of an inch.
25:23You can do that when you have one point four billion people, you know, lots of shoulders.
25:28Everybody was went about one eighth of an inch the same height.
25:32I said, if they put their helmets down, you could have played pool on the top of their heads.
25:38And it was pretty amazing.
25:40But I said, you got to top it.
25:42He said, I'll top it.
25:43We're going to top it.
25:44We're going to have a lot of the people.
25:46Most of the fake news back there is going to be going.
25:49So we have Steve has done a great job.
25:53And then a little bit later on, we brought Jared.
25:56And Jared was responsible for the Abraham Accords, which is incredible.
26:00Nobody else could have done that.
26:02A very smart guy.
26:03And we're making Jared an envoy also, envoy of peace.
26:08They're both envoys of peace.
26:10And you couldn't get to.
26:11I tell you what, I watch these two guys.
26:13I say, at least we're covered from an IQ standpoint.
26:16These two guys walk into a room.
26:19But people like them both.
26:20You know, they're good people.
26:22And they like them both.
26:23And they've had some very good meetings.
26:25They've had some very interesting meetings having to do with, as you know,
26:30Iran is a hotspot right now in their meeting.
26:32And they have a good relationship with the representatives of Iran.
26:35And, you know, good talks are being had.
26:37It's proven to be, over the years, not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran.
26:42We have to make a meaningful deal.
26:44Otherwise, bad things happen.
26:46But we have to make a meaningful deal.
26:48But they have a great relationship with the representatives of Iran.
26:51They have a great relationship with the other one that they're really working on now.
26:55Because so many of these, I mean, as an example, Kosovo, Serbia.
27:00I did that one.
27:02Could you stand up if any of you guys are, when you're here, just stand up for a second.
27:06Kosovo, Serbia.
27:07Stand up.
27:09What a job.
27:10Thank you very much.
27:11We appreciate it.
27:12So good.
27:14And you're getting along.
27:15And when you don't get along, you'll call me.
27:17And we'll get it solved, right?
27:19We'll get it solved.
27:21Thank you very much.
27:22Really good.
27:23And then again, Pakistan and India.
27:24That was a big one.
27:25And just, I think you should actually stand.
27:28Come, please.
27:29Stand just for a second.
27:31Pakistan and India.
27:32Thank you very much.
27:33And I spoke to Prime Minister Modi.
27:36He's excited.
27:37He's watching us right now.
27:40Egypt and Ethiopia.
27:42We're going to get that, you know, there's a little dam that got built.
27:45A little dam, like maybe the largest dam in the world.
27:49Built and financed, of course, by the United States brilliantly.
27:53And having a little trouble getting water to the Nile.
27:57It's not, that's a tough situation.
28:00But we're going to get that solved.
28:02Armenia and Azerbaijan we talked about.
28:05And again, thank you, fellas, very much.
28:07Great job.
28:08Great job.
28:09Thank you.
28:11Cambodia and Thailand.
28:14So incredible what you did, that you got together and it all worked out.
28:18They're watching.
28:19They're watching right now in closed circuit.
28:21Thank you very much.
28:22And thank you.
28:24That was a big one.
28:25Cambodia and Thailand.
28:26These are nasty fighters.
28:28I have to tell you.
28:29These fighters are nasty.
28:33Now we talk about, you talk nasty fighter.
28:37You're nice guys compared to this.
28:39Congo and Rwanda.
28:42And that was, and we've got them pretty peaceful.
28:46There's little flare ups every once in a while.
28:48I'll get a call once a week.
28:50Sir, there's a flare up in the Congo again.
28:53We'll get it straightened out.
28:54Right, Susie?
28:55We'll get it straightened out.
28:58And Israel, as you know, with, you could say Israel in numerous countries if you want
29:02to really know the truth, but Israel and Iran.
29:06And we'll see where that goes.
29:08But when you think of Israel, we have, we've done, the biggest thing of all, we have peace
29:11in the Middle East right now.
29:12That's bigger than, people said it couldn't be done.
29:15And for 3,000 years, they've been talking about Middle East.
29:18They said it couldn't be done.
29:21And you look at what's happened in Gaza.
29:24And one of the keys to it was when we took those beautiful, magnificent โ we just ordered
29:3022 more of them โ updated model.
29:33The B-2 bombers are incredible.
29:35I never understood the B-2 bomber.
29:37I'd watch.
29:37It's a wing.
29:39And I've never quite understood that, Johnny.
29:41I'd look at it.
29:42I'd say, it was beautiful.
29:43But what does it do?
29:44It carries very big bombs.
29:47And it went into Iran.
29:49And it totally decimated the nuclear potential.
29:53And when it did, when it decimated that, all of a sudden we had peace in the Middle East.
29:59Because nobody โ there was a black cloud hanging over the Middle East.
30:02And if that wasn't done, that cloud would have been there.
30:06And countries like Saudi Arabia, countries like Qatar, countries like โ nobody could have
30:11signed.
30:11You would have had that threat.
30:13Nobody could have had โ you couldn't have had peace in the Middle East.
30:16So now we may have to take it a step further, or we may not.
30:19Maybe we're going to make a deal.
30:20You're going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days.
30:25But this meeting today is proof with determined leadership nothing is impossible.
30:30When I took office, the war in Gaza was raging with thousands of people being killed and no end in
30:35sight.
30:36Today, thanks to unrelenting diplomacy and the commitment of many of the great people in this room โ we have
30:4259 countries signed up on Gaza.
30:46Think of that.
30:47Think of that.
30:48We have โ it's amazing.
30:50But all the people โ many โ really so many in this room โ the war in Gaza is over.
30:55It's over.
30:56There are little flames.
30:58Little flames.
30:59Hamas has been โ I think they're going to give up their weapons, which is what they promised.
31:04If they don't, it'll be โ you know, they'll be harshly met.
31:07Very harshly met.
31:08They don't want that.
31:09You know, all the stuff like they don't mind dying.
31:12They told me that's not true.
31:15Everybody said, oh, they don't mind dying.
31:17No, they don't want to die.
31:18They said, we don't want to die.
31:20People don't want to die.
31:22The ceasefire was held, and every last remaining hostage, both living and dead, has been returned back home.
31:28Think of that.
31:29That was an impossibility.
31:31And we did hundreds of hostages, but the last 20 โ and I always said to Steve and Jared, I
31:36said, the last 20 are going to be very tough.
31:39Very, very tough.
31:41And we got them back.
31:42We got the living back, and then we only got about 16 of the dead, and we said, well, you've
31:46got to get them all.
31:47You promised them all.
31:49And they dug and dug and dug.
31:51You can imagine.
31:52It's a job that's brutal.
31:55And Hamas really did a lot of that work.
31:58And you've got to give them credit for that.
32:00They brought the last one home a week ago, and we got all 28 of them, living and dead.
32:10The amazing thing โ because I've never seen anything quite like it โ the parents of the dead, they knew
32:15their boy was dead.
32:20They wanted that dead body as much as if he were alive.
32:29And when they got them back, there was great sadness, but there was great joy, too.
32:35They wanted it as much as the people that got their sons back alive.
32:41But we got a lot of people before those 20, Steve, that nobody talks about.
32:45But, you know, hundreds of people.
32:48We did a good job.
32:49And you guys did a fantastic job.
32:51I want to thank every nation that helped us achieve this monumental breakthrough, saving countless lives, and really bringing peace
33:00and bringing the concept of peace.
33:01Because nobody thought peace in the Middle East โ I've always heard peace in the Middle East is impossible.
33:06And it turned out not to be.
33:09And we do have some work to do with Iran.
33:12They can't have a nuclear weapon.
33:14It's very simple.
33:15They can't have โ you can't have peace in the Middle East if they have a nuclear weapon.
33:19And they can't have a nuclear weapon.
33:21And they've been told that very strongly.
33:23Since the hard-won ceasefire of last October, the United States and our partners have facilitated the delivery of vast
33:30amounts of humanitarian aid โ numbers that nobody's ever seen before.
33:35In November, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved the Board of Peace.
33:40And last month in Davos, we welcomed over two dozen members to this very important new organization.
33:49And we are very closely working with the United Nations.
33:52In fact, I'm going to speak to the Secretary General in a little while.
33:56He's a good man.
33:58And I've had a good relationship.
34:00Other than in my last speech, they did turn off my teleprompter.
34:04I got up there.
34:06My teleprompter didn't work.
34:08I'm sitting in front of all of you people and more.
34:11I had no teleprompter.
34:12I knew I was in trouble because I'm walking up.
34:14You know, the teleprompters are over.
34:16We had the most beautiful speech ready.
34:18And I was all set to knock them dead.
34:21First, I had an escalator that stopped.
34:23You know that.
34:24It's going up.
34:25Boom!
34:26It's lucky my movie star First Lady was in front of me because I put my hand on a certain
34:33part of her body.
34:34And I was able to stop my fall.
34:37Otherwise โ because she had no trouble.
34:39I said, boy, that was a very sharp stop, Johnny.
34:43So I said, that was strange.
34:45I've been on a lot of escalators.
34:47It's never happened before.
34:48Usually it stops very slowly.
34:50This was just boom.
34:52But our First Lady was right in the proper location for me.
34:56I'm waving to people.
34:58And she was holding it a little tighter.
35:01She knew what was happening.
35:02She did.
35:03She said, that's a very successful movie out right now.
35:06Like, number one.
35:07Can you believe this?
35:09And she's a big movie star.
35:11And I always say it's trouble because I always say there's not room in one family for two stars.
35:18I told her that.
35:19We can't have two stars in one family.
35:22So I don't know what that means.
35:23But it's not โ it's not good.
35:25But it is good because we're proud of her.
35:27She did a โ people in the United States love the First Lady.
35:30And she did the movie and has become the biggest-selling documentary in 20 years.
35:37Can you believe?
35:37The theaters are all packed.
35:38Women, especially.
35:39They go back and they see it two or three times โ four times.
35:44But together, we're committed to achieving a Gaza that is properly governed throughout.
35:50The whole area is going to be โ you know, so many countries that have really nothing to do with
35:54the Middle East,
35:54but they're maybe somewhat close by.
35:57They're all involved.
35:58They want to go in and fight.
36:00They tell me all the time, we'd like to send soldiers to fight if it's necessary.
36:04And I don't think it's going to be necessary.
36:06We have two countries that want to go in and do a number on Hamas.
36:11I said, I really don't think it's โ I hope it's not going to be necessary.
36:15Because they made a promise, and they promised me to get rid of their weapons.
36:19Looks like they're going to be doing that, but we'll have to find out.
36:23But it's no longer a hotbed of radicalism and terror.
36:27And to end that, we have today โ and I'm pleased to announce that โ Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan,
36:38UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait have all contributed
36:48more than $7 billion toward the relief package.
36:53That's great.
36:54Thank you, fellas.
36:55Thank you.
37:01And many more are contributing, too, so the numbers are โ you know, this just
37:05started.
37:06This is our first meeting.
37:08But every dollar spent is an investment in stability and the hope of new and harmonious.
37:15It's a region that's so important.
37:17It's so vibrant.
37:18It's so incredible.
37:19The people are so incredible.
37:20But we want to have a harmonious Middle East.
37:23The Middle East is amazing.
37:25So many friends in the Middle East.
37:27They're so smart.
37:29Sometimes they're too energetic.
37:31That's the โ you know, a lot of people aren't energetic.
37:34Sometimes they're a little bit too energetic.
37:36These are great people.
37:38The world is now waiting on Hamas, and that's taking place.
37:42And it's the only thing that's right now standing in the way.
37:47We have Lebanon with certain things that we're working on that are very important.
37:53We have to solve the problem of Lebanon, but it's relatively small in terms of what we've โ what's been
38:00done.
38:01And again, the key was getting rid of the nuclear potential because Iran would have had a nuclear weapon based
38:07on everything we found out since within one month.
38:10We can't let that happen.
38:11So many of our friends in Europe are attending today, and we're eager to have them become full members.
38:18They all want to become full members, and we've had a great response from Europe.
38:23And Europe is โ you know, it's where I come from, where so many people come from that are in
38:27the United States.
38:29But we have a great relationship with Europe.
38:31We have a great head of NATO.
38:33He is a fantastic man, and he's doing a great job โ really great job.
38:39I'm excited to announce that Norway has agreed to host an event bringing together the Board of Peace.
38:46Oh, I thought when I saw this note, I'm excited to announce that Norway โ I thought they were going
38:51to say that they're giving me the Nobel Prize.
38:55Oh, this is less exciting.
38:59Oh, it says, I'm excited to announce that Norway, and I'm saying, oh, great, I'm getting the Nobel Prize, finally.
39:06Finally, they got it right.
39:07But I don't care.
39:08I don't care about Nobel Prize.
39:10I care about saving lives, just so you understand.
39:12And we play, and we all, you know, do what we have to do.
39:15I only have one thing.
39:17I don't want to see people killed from parts of the world that are very far away from the United
39:21States.
39:22And if I have an ability to turn off โ to turn off wars, I want to use that ability,
39:26because it's people.
39:27Millions of people.
39:29It's like the Prime Minister said, 25 million people, maybe.
39:33And that's a small number compared to what it could have been if you really think about it, right?
39:36No, I want to save lives, and I don't care about prizes.
39:41And the U.N. Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance is raising $2 billion for the support of Gaza.
39:53Additionally, Japan has just committed to host an aid fundraiser, which will be a very big one, very โ it's
39:59already successful.
40:00We know some of the numbers that are being talked about โ which will be attended by other nations in
40:05the region,
40:06including South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, and others.
40:10And I know that China is going to be involved, and I think Russia is going to be involved.
40:15I think they will be.
40:16I want to have everybody get all sides, because it doesn't help when you have all sides with one ideology.
40:25You have to have everybody together for this.
40:27I'm also pleased to announce that FIFA will be helping to raise a total of $75 million for projects in
40:35Gaza.
40:36And I think they're soccer-related, where you're doing fields, and you're getting the greatest stars in the world to
40:41go there.
40:42And people that are bigger stars than you and I, Johnny.
40:45I hate to say it.
40:47You know?
40:48I met one of your great stars who came to the White House, as you know.
40:52And he's โ my son was very excited.
40:55He's โ these are great people.
40:57These are great people.
41:00And Johnny's going to bring the stars to the area.
41:04And they're really known โ people in Gaza know every one of them.
41:07Right?
41:08You know?
41:09So it's really something.
41:11And we'll soon be detailing the announcement.
41:14And if I can do, I'll get over there with you.
41:16I want to thank Johnny and FIFA for all of the wonderful things they did and are doing.
41:24They gave me their first peace prize.
41:26They gave me a peace prize.
41:27I think they saw that I got screwed by Norway, and they said, let's give them a peace prize.
41:32I mean, very good.
41:33Thank you, Johnny.
41:34I appreciate it.
41:35Johnny's very smart.
41:37He's very, very smart.
41:40The nations represented here today, just in closing, are not just contributing money.
41:45Some are also pledging personnel to help preserve the ceasefire and secure a very enduring peace.
41:52We have to have enduring peace.
41:54Having peace knowing it's going to blow up in two weeks doesn't mean anything.
41:58In particular, Indonesia.
42:00Thank you very much.
42:02Indonesia.
42:03That's a great country.
42:06Thank you very much.
42:08Look at that man.
42:09Look how tough he is.
42:10You think it's easy dealing with him?
42:12Look at that face.
42:13You are a tough cookie.
42:14And we say it lovingly, too.
42:16We need strength.
42:18See?
42:18He doesn't mind.
42:20He's tough and he's smart.
42:22And smart is more important.
42:25Morocco.
42:26Thank you very much.
42:27Great.
42:28What you're doing is great.
42:30Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan have all committed troops and police to stabilize Gaza.
42:37Egypt and Jordan are likewise providing very, very substantial help, troops, training, and
42:44support for a very trustworthy Palestinian police force.
42:48We think we're getting some very good people on that police force.
42:52And, you know, it's peace in the Middle East.
42:54We have peace in the Middle East.
42:55Think of it.
42:56For years you've been hearing about peace in the Middle East and everybody who's saying
43:00it's impossible.
43:02All of these countries are working together around the vision of a Middle East that is
43:06free from the curse of extremism and terror.
43:09And now is time.
43:11And by the way, even people with extremism and preaching extremism, they're exhausted.
43:16They're tired.
43:17It's been going on for too many years.
43:18I don't care who you are.
43:20They're tired.
43:21They want peace.
43:22And now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that will complete what we're doing.
43:29And if they join us, that'll be great.
43:31If they don't join us, that'll be great too.
43:33But it'll be a very different path.
43:36They cannot continue to threaten the stability of the entire region.
43:39And they must make a deal.
43:42Or if that doesn't happen, I maybe can understand.
43:46If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.
43:47But bad things will happen if it doesn't.
43:53With the commitments announced today, the Board of Peace is proving that it does not
43:58just convene countries.
44:00It devises and implements and real solutions happen.
44:04We've come up with solutions.
44:07This is so little talk.
44:09This is very little talk, all action.
44:11First time.
44:12It was always talk in the Middle East.
44:14People would talk about peace in the Middle East and then they'd go home and they'd never
44:17even think about it again.
44:18Nothing would happen.
44:20We're providing a model for how responsible sovereign nations can cooperate to take responsibility
44:25for confronting problems in their own regions.
44:29The Board of Peace is showing how a better future can be built starting right here in this room.
44:35And I want to let you know that the United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion
44:40to the Board of Peace.
44:42Thank you.
44:48And we've had great support for that number.
44:51And that number is a very small number when you look at that compared to the cost of war.
44:58That's two weeks of fighting.
45:00It's a very small number.
45:02It sounds like a lot, but it's a very small number.
45:04So we're committed to $10 billion.
45:07Together we can achieve the dream of bringing lasting harmony to a region tortured by centuries of war,
45:13suffering and carnage, they say 3,000 years.
45:16And hopefully we can lift up the eyes of the world to envision how other intractable conflicts can be settled.
45:24So many conflicts, I'd say, are impossible to settle.
45:27We get them settled.
45:27We got those eight that we settled.
45:30Most of them were said to be not settleable.
45:34And they not only got settled, they got settled within days.
45:38More impossible problems can be solved as we go along this very beautiful path.
45:43I think it's a beautiful path.
45:44I think it's such an important day.
45:47Even the weather is beautiful.
45:48We walk in, it's beautiful.
45:50Everything is beautiful.
45:51But the ancient wounds can be healed.
45:54And they are indeed ancient.
45:55This has been going on for so many centuries that our entire planet will be a better, safer,
46:01more beautiful and more peaceful place for us all.
46:05We're going to be working with the United Nations very closely.
46:08We're going to bring them back.
46:09I think the United Nations has great potential.
46:11Really great potential.
46:13It has not lived up to potential.
46:16The eight wars, I never even spoke to them about one of them.
46:19And I should be speaking to them about all of them.
46:22Someday I won't be here.
46:24The United Nations will be, I think, is going to be much stronger.
46:28The Board of Peace is going to almost be looking over the United Nations and making sure it runs properly.
46:35But we're going to strengthen up the United Nations.
46:38We're going to make sure its facilities are good.
46:40They need help.
46:41And they need help money-wise.
46:43We're going to help them money-wise.
46:45And we're going to make sure the United Nations is viable.
46:48And you have some very good people that the United Nations can do a good job.
46:52But as I said, I've said it for years, United Nations has tremendous potential.
46:56A lot of people didn't like what I said.
46:58They said, oh, you shouldn't say that because, you know, we don't care about the United Nations.
47:03No.
47:03It's really very important.
47:04And I think it's going to eventually live up to potential.
47:08That'll be a big day.
47:09So I want to thank everybody for being here.
47:11You're my friends.
47:12You're great, great leaders.
47:14You're great people.
47:17And I can honestly say, you know, you're strong leaders.
47:20You're tough leaders in many cases.
47:21And every single one that I'm looking at that's right here, I've gotten to know and I've gotten to respect.
47:27And really, you're friends.
47:29You're friends of mine.
47:30And if I can help you at all, you let me know.
47:32But this is going to be something.
47:33The Board of Peace will be something that the likes of which I don't think anybody's seen before.
47:38And thank you all very much.
47:39It's a great honor.
47:40I'm going to ask J.D. Vance to come up and say a few words.
47:43Thank you very much.
47:45Thank you very much.
