00:00Hey Suns fans, we have some significant news to break down for you tonight regarding a new
00:05addition to the roster. The Phoenix Suns have officially agreed to a deal with forward Haywood
00:09Highsmith, an announcement the team made on Wednesday. This move adds another piece to the
00:14lineup as we push forward in the season. According to ESPN's Shams Karania, who first reported the
00:21news, it is a multi-year agreement. Karania also noted that Highsmith was considering joining
00:26multiple other playoff teams, before ultimately deciding to come to Phoenix. Now, let's look at
00:32the specifics of the contract. Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro reported that this is a two-year
00:37veteran minimum deal. It's important to note, as Gambadoro added, that the second year of the deal
00:42is not fully guaranteed. Highsmith is no stranger to competitive basketball. He spent four seasons
00:48with the Miami Heat from 2021 to 2025. During his time there, he appeared in 213 games.
00:55averaging 5.5 points. Over his latter two seasons with Miami, he shot a solid 38.8% from beyond
01:03the
01:03arc, on about three attempts per game. However, his journey this season has been impacted by injury.
01:09In August, he was traded from Miami to the Brooklyn Nets. This trade occurred just one week after he
01:15underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Unfortunately, his recovery faced a setback,
01:20and in October, the Nets announced he would remain sidelined. The 6'5", 220-pound forward was scheduled
01:27for a re-evaluation on December 14th. Ultimately, he was waived by Brooklyn on February 5th, having not
01:34played a single game this season. So, depending on the status of Highsmith's knee, this addition is
01:40designed to add depth to Phoenix's group of forwards. It also reinforces the gritty, hard-nosed
01:46culture that has been developing. Under head coach Jordan Ott, he becomes the latest midseason addition
01:51for the Suns. As you'll recall, the team recently traded for Amir Coffey at the deadline, while Cole
01:57Anthony was also part of that return. He has not yet joined the team. With the addition of Highsmith,
02:03the Suns now have 15 standard contract players on the roster, including Anthony, along with their
02:09three two-way slots filled. So, Suns fans, knowing his defensive reputation from his time in Miami,
02:15but also considering he's been sidelined all season recovering from knee surgery and hasn't
02:20played a game yet, what are your expectations for Haywood Highsmith once he's cleared to join the lineup?
