00:00By the way, man, every time I watch U of H and I keep seeing Mercy Miller out there,
00:05and I'm thinking, damn, how many kids does Percy have?
00:10And the way that John Shambi said it, yeah, there's Mercy Miller, his father, excellent rapper.
00:16That's the way he said it.
00:18Who said that?
00:19John's boom Shambi.
00:22Mercy Miller, his dad, Master P, excellent rapper.
00:27Excellent rapper.
00:29How many does he have?
00:31I don't know.
00:31I thought he had some hoopers in the fair.
00:33I mean, like, Romeo was a long time ago.
00:38Yeah.
00:38Like, when did Romeo Miller play college?
00:42Because he played with O.J. Mayo, and I ain't seen O.J. Mayo in years.
00:46He can't be much younger than me.
00:47No, he ain't old.
00:49I bet Romeo.
00:50Romeo, there's no.
00:51You remember little Romeo Tyler?
00:53There is no way Romeo's 40.
00:55He ain't older than me.
00:56No.
00:56No, he's got to be Tyler's age, right?
00:59Yeah.
01:00There is no way.
01:00Because I think he was around my age when his music started popping.
01:03Like, we were the same age, I should say.
01:05Romeo Miller.
01:06And he looks 40.
01:08Got that old Tiger Woods.
01:10Got that old Tiger Woods treatment.
01:11Yeah, he's 36.
01:1336?
01:13Yep.
01:14One year older than me.
01:15I got 10 years on him.
01:16He's 36, yeah.
01:17But damn, 36 and now Mercy's at college.
01:20He's a sophomore.
01:22Damn, boy.
01:23He stretched him out, didn't he?
01:23If he wasn't playing around, was he?
01:25Life comes at you fast.
01:26How many kids do you think Pete got?
01:28Seven.
01:30Is he listening?
01:31I know he went to U of H.
01:32He was a top 75 player.
01:35How many kids do you think?
01:35He was?
01:36Oh, yeah.
01:37I didn't know Manchester United went to U of H.
01:39Oh, yeah.
01:40No, I did not know that.
01:41Top 75 player.
01:42I knew he was a hooper.
01:43I didn't know he went to U of H.
01:44Oh, yeah.
01:44Really?
01:45Yeah.
01:45Did he have that little, did he?
01:46I don't know if he played for the Toronto Raptors.
01:49I know he got a tryout.
01:50Go Cougs!
01:52Holy damn, I didn't know that.
01:53Tyler, did you know that?
01:54I did not know that.
01:56He's got nine.
01:57He's got nine?
01:58Nine children.
01:58How many of them are boys?
02:00Yeah, it's only showing Romeo.
02:03Let me see.
02:04I've got to get a little further.
02:05He's doing his best Cecil Shorts impression.
02:07I mean, nine in 16 plus years?
02:08Yeah, I mean, that's doable.
02:10Nine in 16.
02:12Yeah, yeah.
02:13Yeah, he ain't seeing.
02:14I can't see how many boys it is.
02:17Yeah, yeah, he was nice.
02:19Yeah.
02:19No, I knew he was a hooper.
02:21Hell, I knew he got a shot in the league.
02:22I had no idea he played at U of H.
02:24You know, 2 Chainz was really good, too.
02:27Like a really good basketball player.
02:28Where'd he hoop?
02:30He was a top 100 player.
02:31I don't remember.
02:32I don't know if he made it.
02:34I did know 2 Chainz was a hooper.
02:36I don't know if he made it.
02:37But, yeah, he was good, too.
02:38Boy, 2 Chainz fell off, didn't he?
02:40Oh, right.
02:41He just got aged out, yeah.
02:43Yep.
02:44Yep.
02:45Master P was on the Charlotte Hornets training camp roster for 10 days.
02:50Oh.
02:5199?
02:52Yeah.
02:53About that.
02:54Shout out to Mercy Miller.
02:55He got Custel Summers.
02:57That means me and P are the same age.
02:59No.
03:00I mean, if he was a rookie in 99.
03:03I mean, Romeo's 36.
03:04I mean, he wasn't a rookie.
03:05I mean, he just played on the team.
03:06Romeo's 36.
03:07Clint, you're 47.
03:09You and Tiger.
03:10You doubt P was leaving it in at 12?
03:12You and Tiger are the same age.
03:13Do you really think that P was above leaving it in at 12?
03:16Yes.
03:17I don't.
03:17I don't think so.
03:18I don't.
03:18I mean, I do not.
03:20You just take that L.
03:21No, I'm not taking that L.
03:23Hell, I mean, I'll be honest.
03:24I'll be honest with you.
03:25I hope my wife ain't listening.
03:26But, I mean, hell, I wasn't.
03:27I mean, I was there.
03:28He's 55.
03:30So, he's got a few.
03:33He's got a few years on me.
03:34He said, you know, no doubt P was leaving it in at 12.
03:39Ain't no doubt.
03:40P was living that dangerous life.
03:43All right.
03:44Speaking of dangerous life, I feel like Jim Crane is, listen, I believe in him.
03:53And I think he should.
03:54He has been given.
03:56He gets the benefit of the doubt.
03:58Everything that he has done.
03:59He's been one of the best owners in baseball.
04:01But Hunter Brown, he was on with Chandler Rome and Tyler, another Baytown kid.
04:06His name's Tyler Stafford.
04:08Yeah, man.
04:09We grew up in church together.
04:10Small world.
04:11On their podcast.
04:12And I found it really, really interesting what Hunter Brown had to say about contract talk.
04:17And I want you to hear what he had to say and tell me how you feel about these comments
04:23and where the Astros are with him currently when it comes to maybe extending him for a long-term deal.
04:28You know, those conversations have obviously, you know, come up between Scott and myself.
04:35And with all transparency, you know, I love Houston.
04:38I love playing for this team.
04:40You know, and I haven't heard anything since, you know, I was a rookie.
04:45So my focus is to be the best I can be for this team this season.
04:50And, you know, that's what I'm focused on.
04:53But, like I said, I love putting on that Astros uniform, and I got no visions of doing it anywhere
05:00else.
05:01So that's what I can give you guys.
05:04I haven't heard anything, and that's just kind of where I stand with that.
05:08Are you surprised by that?
05:10Are you surprised that you hurt Hunter Brown?
05:14And this doesn't mean, like, you know, he's going anywhere, but I just found that very odd that Hunter Brown
05:21and the Astros,
05:23and he has not heard anything.
05:24Now, we'll see what his agent's talking about.
05:26Obviously, it hadn't been nothing serious that his agent didn't, you know, report it to him.
05:30But, Clint, he has not heard anything about a contract extension, anything about a deal, anything about trying to get
05:38out in front.
05:38Man, he's 27, hadn't heard anything about it since his rookie year, and we know what he did last year.
05:45The year before that, he's built upon that.
05:47The last two years, you could clearly see he is somebody you want to keep, and now he looks like
05:51he's one of the best pitchers in baseball.
05:53Come on.
05:53I was a bit surprised that there has been no conversation about it.
05:58Yeah, I would be a bit surprised if there's been none.
06:03Obviously, nothing real that has been presented to him.
06:05We heard Kyle Tucker shoot down contracts.
06:09Yeah, this doesn't worry me one bit.
06:12I heard in the loop guys going on about it and being a little bit concerned.
06:15This doesn't bother me one bit.
06:17It doesn't?
06:18It doesn't.
06:19I mean, look, I think Hunter Brown, whether the Astros want to keep him around long-term or not,
06:25I think Hunter Brown is the caliber player where his representation doesn't even entertain a team-friendly deal.
06:32Well, I mean, he's the caliber player.
06:35I mean, you got to come correct, though.
06:37Like, yeah, you can't come team-friendly.
06:38Yeah, you got to come.
06:39I mean, I just don't, like, I mean, I don't doubt that the Astros went and tried to do a
06:43Jordan Alvarez
06:44or tried to get something done a little early team-friendly.
06:47But if you're Hunter Brown, like, it's, like, I'm proud of Hunter Brown's representation for that not getting back to
06:54him.
06:55Right?
06:56I mean, if the Astros went in there and tried to low-ball you, like, team-friendly, low-ball, whatever
07:00you want to do,
07:00sign you up early, these guys aren't stupid.
07:02They understand what the team is attempting to do.
07:05Now, the, you know, the reward for the player is, in today's game, with all these guys' elbows getting blown
07:11up
07:11and shoulders blowing out and all these injuries, especially with the Astros,
07:14there's obviously some security in getting more than $5 million next year.
07:18But if I'm Hunter Brown, all things considered, he's not an injury-prone player.
07:24He does, I don't believe he, now he's definitely a product, but I don't believe he is a guy that
07:29his whole career
07:29has had to get up there and overthrow to get a certain level of spin or to get a certain
07:34level of velocity on his ball.
07:35I think he's very confident in his mechanics and his ability to stay healthy in his mechanics.
07:41And I just don't think he's the kind of player, and I'm talking physically, mentally, from a leadership perspective,
07:47like, he's just not the type of player that's going to go in there and give you a team-friendly
07:50deal.
07:50So, this doesn't bother me one bit.
07:53I mean, Hunter Brown is one of them dudes that's going to be one of just a few in Major
07:58League Baseball.
07:59And I'm not talking about just talent.
08:01Well, the thing that at least makes me pause is we have to look at the history of Jim Crane.
08:10Right, Tyler?
08:11And who was the last guy he gave big money to?
08:13Who's the last guy?
08:14Like, if you're thinking, if you, in your mind, let's just say this out loud.
08:18In your mind, Clinton, Tyler, how many years do you think 27-year-old Hunter Brown will command in his
08:27next contract?
08:28How many years, the length of it?
08:30How many you should?
08:31I would say as close to double digits.
08:35Open market.
08:36Yeah.
08:36Yeah, I would say seven, eight, nine, even years.
08:39Seven to ten years, right?
08:39Yeah, yeah.
08:40Seven to ten years?
08:41100%.
08:41Open market.
08:42All right?
08:43Unless you're Franber.
08:44But open market, seven to ten years.
08:47How much do you think that you're looking at with that?
08:52Oh, I have no idea what the number is.
08:55I mean, 40 a year?
08:55I mean, like, you know, 30, 40.
08:56Whatever the market dictates.
08:57Yeah, but we're talking seven to ten years, somewhere 30 to 40 per where it is.
09:05Yes.
09:05My concern is they've had players that had the ability to get that amount of years, and
09:17they have refused to pay any of them.
09:21Like, Altuve, right?
09:23Is that it?
09:24Altuve?
09:25Maybe Bregman early, really early?
09:28Alvarez, we clearly know, took a deal that was team-friendly.
09:32That's just where my concern lies, is hopefully it is a deal of, like, hey, man, we're not
09:38even talking to them until we can get our best offer.
09:40I hope that is it.
09:41But the other part is, like, we could walk down the line of them.
09:45Garrett Cole, they didn't even think that.
09:46That wouldn't even happen.
09:48Yep.
09:48Right?
09:49Carlos, they low-balled him.
09:51Right?
09:53They let Springer walk.
09:54Springer walk.
09:55He was older, obviously.
09:56Didn't even look his way.
09:57Tucker wasn't going to do it.
09:59Right?
09:59They're just, they, hell, it was about our first five years here coming to the team.
10:04It was a big piece.
10:06They weren't going to do it with Verlander.
10:08Right?
10:08They let him go to the Mets.
10:09There was a big piece every year that they let.
10:12So, that is, that is my concern, is we know who his agent is.
10:18It's Scott Boris.
10:20We, we could sit here and say, like, seven to ten years is probably what you're looking at.
10:25Are you, how confident are you that Jim Crane is going to be willing to do that?
10:32Is this going to be the guy?
10:34It feels like it should be.
10:35For me, this is the guy.
10:36Well, it has to be.
10:37I thought Correa was too.
10:38That's where I'm at.
10:39That's where I'm at with the deal is, yeah, yeah, be honest with you, I was, I was there
10:44with Correa as well.
10:45But now the injury stuff that popped up, I don't know if that was an issue or not, but
10:48thank the Lord he's back in the Astros uniform.
10:51But yeah, I think Hunter Brown is the guy.
10:53I mean, this is, this is what you want.
10:58But I mean, if, if Jim Crane's ever going to sign a guy long-term and maybe longer term
11:05than he's comfortable with, and maybe overpaying, paying more money than he's comfortable with,
11:09this is the dude.
11:10I mean, obviously, you know how talented he is.
11:13As I said earlier, he's, he's not a guy that when he pitches now, knock on wood, nothing's
11:19happened to the date and hopefully he stays healthy long-term, but he doesn't appear to
11:23be a guy that mechanically and technically is, is, is pitching in a way that there's
11:27just so much torque on his shoulder or his arm where he's at risk.
11:31It seems to be a Verlander like, you know, stroke when he's pitching, which is absolutely
11:36beautiful.
11:36And then when you talk about a guy that knows how to be the face of an, of, of a
11:41program
11:42and face of an organization, they've talked openly about the leadership role that he's
11:45taken.
11:47Um, I mean, this is, this has got to be the guy, this has got to be the guy that
11:50if Jim Crane
11:51seriously, serious about the Astros being competitive, you know, beyond, you know, where
11:57they are right now, if, if he's serious, serious about that, this has got to be the guy.
12:01Yeah.
12:01I mean, cause, and, and, and at least in other cases, you're like, all right, we won't give
12:06Jeremy, we won't give Carlos Correa everything because we like Jeremy Pena.
12:12All right.
12:13We won't give Garrett Cole everything because we already have Verlander.
12:16We got green.
12:17Right.
12:17And we, and we like a young Framber, right?
12:19Hey, we're not going to give Verlander all that money that the Mets gave him because
12:23we got Framber who, who is, who is it future wise behind Hunter Brown that you feel really
12:32good about in the rotation?
12:36They won.
12:37Yeah.
12:37I mean, I don't know.
12:38I mean, there's some good stuff down there.
12:40You don't even have guys long-term.
