00:00The story of college basketball last night was Mick Cronin.
00:05Mick Cronin is at one of the best historic basketball programs
00:10in the country at UCLA.
00:13Blue Blood, I think he should be fired.
00:17They fired Jerome Tang's ass, and they tried to fire him for cause,
00:20and they're going to get ate alive.
00:22K-State, no way you're getting away with this.
00:24If they can fire him for cause,
00:26then they damn sure can fire Mick Cronin for cause last night.
00:29Before I play what this fool did last night to a reporter,
00:33and I will say the reporter probably could have formed
00:39or gone in a different direction with his question,
00:42but it certainly, to me, didn't warrant what Mick Cronin did.
00:45But I think the first thing of why I honestly believe he should be fired
00:50and be fired, and I think for cause, is what he did in the game.
00:56Clinton Tyler, this kid that's on his team, by the way, the back story to this,
01:04he was a walk-on at Michigan State.
01:06He played at Michigan State, was a walk-on at Michigan State,
01:09hit the portal, and now he's playing for UCLA.
01:12He's a hustle kid.
01:13Run, run, hustle kid.
01:15He goes down and tries to run down a layup attempt.
01:20It's a hard foul.
01:21It's a hard foul.
01:22Nothing like that idiot with the bad haircut from Providence, Tyler,
01:25who Duncan, who tried to kill somebody.
01:28That ass ass.
01:29By the way, you get some time, take a look at Duncan Powell's haircut.
01:33But it wasn't that severe.
01:35But they did call a flagrant foul.
01:39So then Mick Cronin decided to take it upon himself
01:43to go get the kid, grab him by his jersey, grab one of his assistants,
01:47and he then ejected him himself.
01:50He was not ejected.
01:52Just had a flagrant foul.
01:54Mick went and grabbed him and ejected him himself.
01:57Hit the shower.
01:58Not just, and made him walk out like he had.
02:00Right.
02:01Two flagrants.
02:02Like our flagrant two.
02:03Had him like he did.
02:04Kid had to walk off, and the crowd knows him.
02:08He's a former Spartan, and they're giving him the business
02:11all the way on out.
02:14That is such an ass move.
02:16I'm trying.
02:17It's stupid.
02:18It is.
02:19First off, yeah, I'm good on UCLA if I'm a recruit.
02:23This is what we're doing?
02:24You're going to try to embarrass the hell out of me?
02:26He could have done a multitude of things.
02:28He could have set his ass down and talked to him.
02:30He could have just sat him down and said, hey, play hard.
02:33We'll get you back in.
02:34He could have just told him to go sit down
02:35and just never put him back in the game.
02:38No, he said, no, what I want you to do,
02:39I want you to walk your ass off
02:41and have everybody look at you to get ejected from a game
02:44that you did not actually get ejected from.
02:47I'm just doing it.
02:48I don't even want you to sit on the bench.
02:50I want you to go to the locker room.
02:51It's a bold strategy, Cotton.
02:53I wish that kid was back there at that locker room door
02:56waiting on Mick's ass.
02:57And it just ended his college career right there.
03:00He shouldn't be embarrassing his own players.
03:02Like I said, that's dumb.
03:04And it's stupid, too, because as a head coach of any sport,
03:07as a strategist, like, you're taking a club out of your own bag.
03:12No matter how mad you get, you eject this kid.
03:14Well, what if later in the game you needed him in the game or something?
03:17Someone got in foul trouble or whatever.
03:18It's just dumb.
03:19Oh, yeah, he would have played anybody else, apparently.
03:22But just sit him on the bench.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Like, it wasn't.
03:25And also, if you go watch it, I don't know.
03:27I don't know the back story with it.
03:29I still don't.
03:30Whatever the back story is, it is not,
03:32let me send your ass to the showers.
03:33Right, right.
03:34Like, that was ridiculous.
03:37And to me, like, if you're a coach in 2026,
03:41that's not going to work.
03:45That's not going to work with players this age.
03:48Bobby Knight didn't do that.
03:49Bobby Knight cussed you out.
03:51He didn't send you to the showers before you were.
03:54Yeah, throw a chair, dude.
03:56Nobody else told you to go.
03:57No, go.
03:58You're out.
03:59Like, what the hell?
04:00And then after the game, he's clearly upset and pissed.
04:04And you know how I feel about this.
04:06Like, you know, I don't think you should have had to do an interview
04:09after the lowest moments that you've been in.
04:12I don't think you should.
04:14Or at least I expect and understand that this person may not want to be up here.
04:19But Mick took this to a whole other level.
04:21Here is him and an exchange of the reporter in the postgame afterwards.
04:28I could give a rat's ass about the other team's student section.
04:32I just meant overall the way that you...
04:34I would like to give you a kudos for the worst question I've ever been asked.
04:42All right.
04:42I'll take it.
04:43Did you like the preparation of the...
04:46Do you really think I care about the other team's students?
04:47No, I don't think you care about the other team's students.
05:02The other team's student section.
05:04I coach UCLA.
05:05I don't care about Michigan State students.
05:07I mean, who cares?
05:09Tyler, I want to get on my knees behind him, and I want you to push him.
05:12F-10.
05:15That man said, are you raising your voice at me?
05:17Yeah.
05:18That part, that part, I always thought all the front stuff was funny.
05:21I thought that was kind of comical.
05:23Right?
05:23I want to give you a kudos for the worst question ever.
05:25And then he going to hit that man with, you know that kid ain't raising his voice.
05:29You went back to it.
05:30I hate this kind of, this type of behavior from coaches.
05:34I hate it.
05:34Just because they can.
05:35But it's the whole thing, man.
05:37You mentioned what went on the floor.
05:39That cat right there was clearly alluding to the way he handled the kid,
05:45pushing him off the floor, the way they were chanting.
05:47Like, he wasn't, they weren't, that reporter wasn't trying to say,
05:50oh, are you, do you care about the student section?
05:53No, he was trying to get to a point of like, you caused all this stuff.
05:57I could give this player, the way you treated this player.
06:00And he knew what the hell he was trying to do.
06:02And he big chested him right there because he's the coach.
06:05Starts to, nobody's raising their voice.
06:06Man, reporters always raise their voice and be heard over the next guy
06:09and get the next question.
06:10He said that we're on TV.
06:12Yeah, we're on TV.
06:13Everybody can tell.
06:13I'm going to tell you, like, I watched,
06:15I watched the majority of that post game.
06:18It wasn't just that.
06:19But it's such a turnoff what this coach is doing.
06:24I mean, he, it's clear.
06:25He does it a lot.
06:26It's almost like a wink-wink as he's complimenting the other team
06:30and how much it matters to them playing for Michigan State.
06:34And you can tell what he's, and he knows what he's doing.
06:37He's basically knocking his guys in his locker room and his players
06:41saying that they don't feel the way, they don't play the way,
06:44or they don't feel the way,
06:45or they don't have the pride that the other team has
06:47in playing at that university.
06:49Like, that's such a weak move by a grown-ass man,
06:52much less a coach, to use the media to make comments
06:56about your locker room.
06:57Whether it's pros or college or high school, whatever it is,
07:00that's just such a weak-ass move from a grown man
07:04to do that kind of thing.
07:06It's almost like the underhanded stuff,
07:08like the way he handled the reporter and the way the comments.
07:10Like, if you watch that whole five-plus-minute interview,
07:13like, there's multiple times in there
07:15where he is completely backhanding his team
07:18as he's complimenting the other team.
07:20Like, that's just, that's so weak.
07:22And to me, it goes against, and I know these coaches,
07:25the psychology behind coaching, I get it.
07:27I mean, there's ways to, there's reasons,
07:31methods to the madness, if you will.
07:32But I'm going to tell you, for me, man,
07:34I ain't got nothing for him.
07:35Like, that whole thing, like all of that,
07:38and be honest with you, Mick has got,
07:40he's got a greatest hits.
07:43Like, if we gave Tyler the evening,
07:46I'm telling you to do this, Tyler,
07:48but if we gave Tyler the evening of,
07:50and he goes all the way from Mick at Cincinnati,
07:53like, he could put together a montage of Mick Cronin
07:58thinking he is, like, that's the part about Mick.
08:00Like, Mick, I don't think you know who the hell you are.
08:03Recurring behavior, huh?
08:04Oh, yeah, Mick's done this.
08:05Because, I honestly, I think Mick thinks he is Tom Izzo.
08:10Like, I think, like, Mick goes off,
08:12he thinks he hasn't won a damn thing.
08:13He's at UCLA, but they're eight, nine seeds all the time.
08:16I think he thinks he's bigger than he is.
08:19Like, I'm talking about a bigger type coach.
08:23But I don't even know how big he literally is, right?
08:25He looks like a guy who's got a small man syndrome.
08:28He wears great suits.
08:29Yeah, like, I think in his mind,
08:31he acts the way that Nick Saban does.
08:32You know how Nick kind of does with the media?
08:35Sure, sure.
08:35Mick, you're not good enough to do this.
08:39You know that kid didn't raise his voice at you.
08:41Yeah.
08:42Come on, man.
08:42And the kid let it go.
08:44He let it go.
08:45Somebody else was trying to hit you with another question,
08:47and you're the one who brought it back.
08:49He chuckled back.
08:49You're the one who did it.
08:51Kudos.
08:51And you think I really care?
08:52No, I don't think you care,
08:54but I'm just simply saying, you dumbass,
08:56everything that you did led to them having to,
08:58having that kid having to walk out and listen to the entire crowd
09:01scream whatever they screamed at him
09:03because he got ejected but wasn't really ejected by anybody.
09:08That particular soundbite.
09:09You're right, Tyler.
09:10Could he have run back on the floor if somebody fouled out
09:13and they needed his services?
09:14Could he run back?
09:15That's a fair question.
09:16He might be able to.
09:18But, T, that soundbite is so petty, again, just for a grown man.
09:23Like, you can look at that as he knew he didn't handle it the right way
09:28in the moment.
09:29He knew he was going to be asked about it in the postgame.
09:33And the way that he went about it was, I'm going to flip this script.
09:37Instead of addressing it, instead of facing it,
09:39instead of explaining why I did what I did and yada, yada, yada,
09:42I'm going to push back on this young reporter about raising his voice.
09:47Like, the whole, it just gets worse and worse the more you hear it,
09:49the more you think about why and how he handled it.
09:52What a joke.
09:53Yeah.
