Drunk Man’s Arrest Sparks Roadside Scuffle with Police in Katihar; Video Goes Viral

Despite the liquor prohibition in Bihar, a dramatic incident unfolded in Katihar, raising questions about enforcement and public conduct.

The episode occurred near Panchra village under the jurisdiction of Balrampur Police Station, close to the West Bengal border. Police detained a man allegedly found in an intoxicated condition. However, what began as a routine arrest soon escalated into a public confrontation at Bhelai Chowk.

Scuffle in the Middle of the Road

Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the man was taken into custody, his wife and daughter confronted the police team, accusing them and attempting to obstruct the arrest. The argument quickly turned into pushing and shoving, leading to a scuffle in full public view.

Videos recorded by bystanders show women pushing police personnel while a crowd gathered at the spot. Some onlookers remained spectators, while others attempted to defuse the tension.

Additional Force Deployed

As the situation intensified, additional police units were rushed to the scene. Several female police personnel were deployed, after which the situation was brought under control.

The accused was safely transported to the police station. According to sources, proceedings are being initiated against him under the Excise Act in view of Bihar’s prohibition law. Legal action is also being prepared in connection with the alleged obstruction and scuffle with police officials.

The viral video has triggered widespread discussion in the locality. Police have stated that the matter is under investigation and that the footage circulating on social media is being examined as part of the evidence.
