00:00So this is the area where we're gonna put a pool in South Dakota. Yes
00:08This will be the biggest transformation we've ever done on a project. Definitely
00:15That's so flippin cool
00:20Today we get to play with big kid concrete spraying tools my what long forks you have. Thank you
00:26We got two inches of rain last night everything is muddy muddy muddy
00:33That torch is a thousand degrees
00:38Three two one
00:47My given name is jared cap but everyone calls me cappy
00:53This is probably one of the coolest things i've ever done
00:55Everyone clear i've been a professional builder for over 15 years
01:00But a few years ago i teamed up with my daughter alex
01:03Whoa it looks so good in here we specialize in transforming unconventional objects
01:11Awake now what if we did use a plane wait really all right alex she's all yours
01:17Into one-of-a-kind creations
01:18Oh my god it's so amazing and we get to do it for our favorite people
01:27But the best part
01:31Is we get to do it together
01:41One of my favorite things to do on our property here at short grass is to go for a walk
01:46and dream up something new to build
01:49And i've got an idea. I just can't get out of my head
01:53When sprout and i dive into any project whether it's a beehive bungalow made from our own concrete drum
01:59Oh my gosh
02:01A shipping container transformed into an off-grid sauna
02:04Oh my god
02:06Or even turning an rv into a treehouse
02:09Oh my this is incredible
02:11I got it we usually combine our unconventional imaginations and unique talents to pull it off
02:19But this one's different
02:23Now we're taking on something here at short grass that we've never done before
02:28An in-ground swimming pool for all of our family friends and guests to enjoy during south dakota's brutally hot
02:35summers
02:37Now we've made an above-ground pool out of a shipping container
02:42But when it comes to building an in-ground pool i'm like a fish out of water
02:47For this i'm gonna need a lot of expert help along the way
02:52And the first step is doing something i don't normally do get it all down on paper
03:05Hey sprout yeah
03:08What's up kiddo hello all right
03:11You ready yeah plans on paper on paper
03:16Okay let's make sure i got everything down so we're gonna learn how to make an in-ground eco-friendly
03:22and multi-season pool
03:23Yes i'm terribly excited the natural swimming pool which i've been interested in for years uses a biofilter
03:29And limestone to filter the water so it's a chemical free pool it just uses biology to clean it i'm
03:36pretty jazzed about and i'm really loving that
03:38We are doing this project at all because as much as i love my dog project the river can be
03:44a bit cold for some people
03:46And that eight foot jump into the water isn't exactly relaxing for everyone
03:52Well this pool's gonna be heated so we get to use it most of the year
03:55Great another huge part of this build is what we're putting around the pool
03:59A big deck to hang out on this whole thing is wheelchair accessible and then landscaped with lights and irrigation
04:06The entire roof of the restaurant gets a living roof put on it all the way through to the patio
04:11So we're gonna cover it all with plants we've done that before but this time it'll be bigger
04:16And then i had this vision of a giant rock centerpiece at the pool entrance to give the pool some
04:22privacy
04:23But the real ones that size are so heavy not even huge machines can move them
04:29So i found these guys who make life like artificial rocks
04:33And you and i are gonna get to learn how to make fake rocks and i think it'll be really
04:37cool because it's more of an artistic thing than anything
04:40Because often i know how to do something and i teach you or you know how to do something and
04:44you teach me
04:45But i don't think we've done anything yet where we have to learn together i'm stoked
04:49I think that it'll be really cool to see how it'll tie into the roof that we will plant at
04:54the restaurant
04:54Yep well i'm excited about this kid this will be the biggest transformation we've ever done on a project definitely
05:00For this build we're taking on something we've never done before but always wanted to learn how to do an
05:06in-ground pool
05:07And because we never do anything the easy way we're adding a bunch of special features
05:12We want the pool to blend in with the environment by framing the entrance with two giant sculpted boulders for
05:19privacy
05:19Add some natural landscaping and create a living roof on top of the restaurant we built here at short grass
05:26Sprout's also going to design a custom fence that'll feel like part of the scenery
05:30A natural filtration system will keep the water sparkling clean without using chemicals
05:36The pool will be customized to handle south dakota's wild weather thanks to a smart heating system and a heavy
05:42duty retractable cover
05:45There'll also be a hot tub for lounging under the stars
05:49We have a huge learning curve on this project and the challenge will be getting everything done before the end
05:54of the summer
05:55But if there's one thing i've learned over the years it's that leaving your comfort zone only makes bigger rewards
06:02All right kid ready to go build a pool yeah let's do it
06:07So don't hit it
06:08No, no, we're recording still okay, so we got to be in frame wait you got to stay next to
06:14me. I've never used a selfie stick
06:16I just bought this thing
06:18I don't know how long this builds gonna take but it could be several months so sprout and I are
06:23kicking things off in early spring
06:25So this is the area
06:27Where we're gonna put a pool?
06:29Step one is marking out our layout for the pool. Why don't you take the tape and walk straight out
06:3420 feet?
06:38We're putting it next to the short grass restaurant because the area is nice and flat and big enough okay,
06:44okay
06:45That's our pool shape now. We just need to measure out for the deck
06:51Okay
06:58Once that's done we can break ground it's gonna be a good day which is just a fancy way of
07:04saying dig a really big hole
07:10Tanner jumping the excavator
07:14Kids in the skid steer running things back and forth so we can get rid of these big piles
07:19trying not to hit cabbie
07:30Next we build out a rebar skeleton that matches the shape of the pool
07:35Which will reinforce the concrete there's hundreds and hundreds of sticks of this rebar that we put down
07:42So one of the cool things is it's starting to look like a pool the shape the shallow end down
07:47to the deep end
07:47So it's all coming to fruition
07:50Pouring the pool itself is a massive job, but I need more time to line up a full crew for
07:55that
07:57For now, we're gonna pour the pads that'll support the features around the pool like the giant rocks and the
08:03hot tub
08:03So we're working on the last pad dustin's over there with the jumping jack
08:09This sort of asymmetrical shape that we've got going on those are the footers for the giant boulders
08:22Pump trucks here unfolded
08:28So we'll be able to start pumping this part while they finish up this part
08:48Once the footers have set we can get started on the two giant boulders that frame the pool's entrance
08:54And create some privacy for anyone enjoying the water. What's up fellas?
08:58What's going on?
09:00Welcome to the mess
09:02Sean and Patrick are brothers who specialize in sculpting huge and realistic looking rocks. Nice to meet you. Excellent. Nice
09:10to meet you
09:10These guys are real artists their work on our project began back in their workshop just outside of toronto
09:16Where they crafted these steel armatures, which are the framework for our giant boulders
09:22Armature showed up yesterday. They look great and you requested coffee
09:27Coffee is important. We have coffee. We got it for you. We have a very small period of time to
09:31finish all of this
09:32Yeah, I'm ready. I got the telehandler up top. So we'll go get the machine. All right
09:41My what long forks you have thank you first step is to move both sets of armatures onto the concrete
09:47pads
09:48So these are our first two sets here. Yeah, those two married together. So kid we're gonna swing you way
09:55wide
09:56And i'm gonna have you stab this first armature and go up
10:02There you go
10:03You got her
10:04Okay
10:07Shake test
10:10So we're putting these armatures in and these are sort of like the skeleton
10:14So these are the framework for the bones that hold everything together on top of this gets put a fiberglass
10:21mesh
10:21And that's what you apply the outer layer of concrete to
10:25So think of it as bones muscle and skin
10:29Nice and easy
10:31Down and out
10:32Looking good kiddo
10:36Okay, all right
10:39Okay, one two three
10:43Okay, there's a little mark right
10:45See that corner perfect and down there we go beautiful
10:50Awesome. Yep. All right. Let's get the other half of this one
10:55I know you guys know what you're doing, but it's hard for me to imagine these becoming boulders
11:00And you know imagine like any client we've ever had when we show up with this is like so
11:06I want my deposit back
11:08Beautiful
11:10Downright impressed me at 17 could never have done that
11:14There's just no way should bring you in an excavator too
11:17If you take that corner keffy takes that corner and alex you take the end and we're going to this
11:23one two three
11:27Watch your toes watch your toes
11:30Watch Patrick's head
11:32And
11:33Down for that
11:36So for distance in between are you thinking like five feet or or a little less or a little more?
11:41I think five feet's a good measurement on that
11:43So you'd walk down the path and in between the boulders is where you would enter the pool area. Yep
11:49Once we dial in the armature sections for the second rock we bolt everything down and tie the pieces together
11:56Beautiful
11:57To complete the skeletons for a giant boulders
12:03Now that we have these armatures built we're going to put fiberglass mesh up
12:09So this is what we're going to wrap these armatures with
12:11And then this is what we smoosh the concrete into now. We just got to wrap all our presents here
12:17Our dream is finally taking shape and I cannot wait to see how it all comes together
12:36The weather's really warmed up today and the pool cannot come fast enough
12:41But first things first we're diving into the next phase of sculpting our massive one-of-a-kind boulders
12:51Today we get to play with big kid concrete spraying tools
12:56So we've got the armatures everything built the lath is on it and now we get to use this big
13:01gun with an air nozzle
13:02And we shoot that against the armature
13:04So we're gonna get messy today, and we picked you know a 97 degree day to do it. So that's
13:09cool. So going fellas
13:11Perfect timing. How are you?
13:13Great. I like the tent. That's nice
13:16Tomorrow we actually get to carve it stamp it make it look like a real rock today
13:20We need to essentially get rid of daylight the base coat. Yeah, exactly. Base coat of this. Okay get rid
13:25of daylight. Yes
13:27That's easy enough. Yeah, we got the hose. We got water. We got everything. Yep. We're ready
13:30So we're gonna be split into two teams. I'm gonna be out in the sun and shooting. You want to
13:36trade hats?
13:36Yeah, actually, I'll take it nice
13:41Same size head. We'll be good. Okay, I'm gonna fire it up. Yep. This is so quiet
13:47It's peaceful
13:49These guys aren't just mixing up any old concrete. This is their own special sauce custom blend of concrete mixed
13:56with fiber
13:57To make the first coat super strong
14:00So what this fiber is it's the rebar in the mix. So we call it like a fiber matrix. That
14:05sounds super smart
14:06It's strength is what we put it on there
14:09Once our mix is ready. It's time to start blasting concrete
14:20It takes a minute, but then right before our eyes this custom mix starts transforming the armatures into towering boulders
14:29So this is messy real messy once they're fully covered with the first layer
14:34We'll let the concrete cure overnight and then tomorrow they'll be ready for the final coat
14:46I'm currently on my way to see our friend Brian to drop off some designs for the fence for the
14:51pool project
14:54We teamed up last year on some custom metal fabrication for the observatory
15:00And now I want to laser-cut plant shapes into the metal fence panels that go around the pool
15:05This build uses a lot of concrete and it can look really industrial
15:09So I want to soften it up and match it with the landscape more
15:24Hello, hey, how's it going good? It's nice to see you again
15:28All right, I have a new project for you. Okay, so out at short grass. We're building a natural pool
15:34cool for that pool
15:35We want to build a fence. Okay, I'm thinking really stout wooden posts with
15:41Steel paneling in between okay for the panels
15:44I made these sketches of the natural grasses and the wildflowers around short grass. Oh, that's cool
15:50So we want to cut this out from the panel. So it would just match that. Yeah. Yeah, that works
15:56How big are these panels gonna be when they're done four by eight four by eight and then for the
16:01panels?
16:01I want them to be tan
16:02Okay, like a tan powder cup can do that. Okay, that sounds good. I'll let you guys know when they're
16:07ready. Thank you so much
16:10I
16:13To take sprouts idea of blending the pool area in with the landscape a step further
16:20We're transforming the restaurant roof into a living garden
16:24We start by laying down a thick protection fabric
16:28And then cover it with a special planting media. It's a lot of bags designed specifically for this kind of
16:33job
16:34So the reason we use that instead of our normal soil is the weight
16:38This roof has been engineered for this living roof and we know how many pounds per square foot we're allowed
16:43to have
16:43That's why we bring in engineered soils for that
16:46Then when the soil's ready, we're planting a low maintenance flowering succulent called sedum up here. It's gonna look awesome
17:06One of the things you don't want when you're digging and building a swimming pool is a lot of rain
17:13And we got just shy of two inches of rain last night
17:18So everything is muddy muddy muddy
17:21But we're on a tight timeline to get this pool done. We're not gonna let it stop us
17:27We get the sump pump going to drain out the puddles we throw together some makeshift walkways to get around
17:33the mud dig up a few fresh bags of concrete
17:36Before you know it patrick's back at it. We're applying the final layer to our boulder surface
17:41Okay, cabbie now we need to actually start working around. Okay, this is where you come in
17:46What these lines actually indicate is where we need to build up
17:50So if you go into the woods, you see your boulders. There's a lot of overhangs underhangs
17:55There's a lot of deep grooves
17:56So here I want to build up about two inches so that it's a little lip exactly
18:01Oh cool, we got 45 minutes total from start to spray
18:07To when we have to actually start carving and that's so the concrete is still wet enough to carve the
18:11rock shape into
18:12Yeah, okay, this is art with a timeline art with a timeline air on air on
18:21After this final layer we're far from done to really make this look like a natural rock
18:26There's four more steps
18:29Troweling rolling stamping and carving
18:34First the trowels create the finer contours on the rock and then what does the roller do so the roller?
18:40That's just a paint roller. It's just a paint roller that gets better with time so you can see the
18:44buildup of
18:44How it's getting a little bit older chunks and stuff exactly
18:48So those are going to create a little bit of a unique pattern on their own
18:52We have to get this initial texture that we're using the both the trowel and then roller
18:57And then Cappy's already working with a stamp and that is a mold taken from a real rock
19:05Once the stamping's done Patrick and Sean dive into the details
19:10Etching in every crack and crevice
19:13Bit by bit this work of art stops looking like concrete
19:18And starts looking like boulders so real you'd swear they rolled in from the hillside
19:24But there's still a mountain of work left on this build
19:27And i'm missing my partner in crime
19:31Sprout's been dancing since she was five
19:34And this summer she got invited to an intensive program in orlando for a couple of weeks
19:39It's a world away from what we're doing here, but it's so important to her and I couldn't be prouder
19:45While she's gone i'm keeping her updated on the build which includes checking on the panel she designed for the
19:50fence around the pool
19:56That's so flippin cool
20:04Dude
20:06Look about right look at how small those are yeah dude that is so sharp
20:14It's so cool to see these go from a drawing on a piece of paper to a thing in real
20:20life
20:21So after they cut these panels the guys clean them all up and de-scale them
20:26Then they shoot the powder on they get wheeled into this oven ready this powder is baked on at about
20:32450 degrees and then gives that protected finish that we're looking for
20:41It's like a big metal sauna in there
20:46Brian also made brackets for mounting the panels to the fence posts we're going to load those up and i'll
20:51go back for the panels when they're done
20:53That's perfect
20:55We're all loaded up ready to go
21:07It looks exactly like a gigantic hundred and seventy thousand pound rock
21:12That is so cool
21:16We got one more step though
21:18Okay
21:19And that is paint painting
21:21Oh painting of course
21:23Yes
21:23The most fun
21:25But just like every other stage if we mess this up we've messed up the whole thing
21:28No pressure
21:30No pressure
21:31If i sound nervous about painting it's because i am
21:36Sprout's the one with the artistic touch not me
21:39But with her off at dan's camp i called for backup
21:43There's just perfect timing
21:44How you doing thank you for joining the team today
21:47So we've created a lot of depth with our texture our carving our shape
21:52But now we need that fine detail so when somebody's coming
21:55We wonder how the heck you got a hundred and seventy thousand pound rock here
21:58Right
21:58They can't be suspicious right
22:00We need to fool them the whole way
22:02They can't be suspicious
22:04Perfect
22:04So here's the close-up reference
22:06And essentially what we have to do is use a layering technique with all these different colors in order to
22:12match that
22:12Shall we begin
22:17Yep
22:20You know what maybe
22:21Listen i thought there would be numbers
22:23Paint by numbers
22:24Real good at following numbers
22:26Let's get her started
22:28We're gonna
22:30It's a little intimidating
22:38So it's not as scary as i thought it would be the drips basically you just fade in with your
22:42hands
22:43It's starting to not look like a gray rock anymore
22:47Now we're turning them into rocks that match the landscape that has been here for millions of years so it's
22:52pretty neat
23:09Today is shotcrete day
23:12We're putting up some plastic to protect the building because shotcrete is just that
23:17It's concrete shot out of a giant hose at a whopping 80 miles an hour
23:23But we need that velocity to fill in the huge pool in one day before the concrete cures
23:29And it takes a lot of helping hands to do this dirty work
23:33We've got my entire crew here
23:35We've got the shotcrete crew here the concrete trucks on the way
23:37Just have to catch up with me as i go we're gonna be moving fast
23:44The first of 10 yes 10 concrete trucks arrive we get right to work
23:52So this is nowhere near the viscosity that a normal concrete pour is
23:58So when we pour like a pad for a hot tub
24:01You're at a five slump which is what they use to designate how runny the concrete is how viscous it
24:07is
24:08This is at a two so it's really dry and they do that on purpose
24:12So it stays put and doesn't blow out of the way or droop out of the way
24:16But that also means when we actually come back and trowel it and tool it you got to go fast
24:23And fast we go
24:25Through the afternoon and into the evening pumping over 200 tons of concrete into the pool
24:32And then it's all hands on deck as troweling and shaping the massive pour takes us well into the night
24:39hour 15
24:41It is
24:42Nine o'clock at night right now and this has been an absolute education
24:46This is beyond capsized
24:48It's been a long grind and the guys are running on fumes
24:52They're pushing through and they're getting it done
24:58He's gonna shoot this last edge
25:04We're putting the last of the shot create in we've got two yards left we'll definitely be here for a
25:09few more hours but
25:10Feeling really good about it
25:23This morning i'm checking on the landscapers who are digging what feels like miles of trenches for the irrigation system
25:30That'll water the new grass and plants we're putting around the pool area you guys are so fast
25:36Holy catfish getting some sprinklers in the ground okay, so where are we in this process?
25:41So right now we're working on these 100 sprinkler heads in the ground about 4 000 feet of pipe underground
25:46and we have just under 30 000 feet of sod coming
25:50You know, there's probably close to 100 perennials going in here
25:53Well, i'm excited to put all this green and all these natural plants back in and then water them correctly
26:00Okay, the landscaping guys have this under control which is good
26:06Because the next big piece of the pool puzzle is being delivered. Oh my gosh, look at this beautiful thing
26:15Oh, man
26:17We're just gonna back all the way down there to the bottom of the hill by the patio
26:21I don't usually order anything pre-built like this but learning how to build a pool from scratch for the
26:27end of the summer feels like enough of a
26:28Challenge so I figured I'd hit the easy button on the hot tub right about there. Okay, go ahead and
26:34come down
26:36Just real easy
26:38All right
26:40Nice
26:41It looks amazing with the pool next step is we're actually gonna build the deck around it
26:57So really excited about the progress on this pool project. I was thinking about it last night
27:03I've built huge custom houses. I've built things out of shipping containers. I've built things underground
27:10This is probably the most stressful build i've ever done
27:13And I think it's because almost every single component of it is foreign to me
27:19We've done tools before but never an in-ground pool. We poured concrete
27:24We've never done shotcrete
27:27I've played with plaster and things, but i've never built fake boulders
27:31So there's all these components that are just a little different new and it's been a big challenge
27:37So this one is a an exciting adventure for sprout nine
27:43After the shotcrete we had a custom plastering crew come in to make it perfect
27:49Part of the pool process is you have to hydrate the plaster and keep it wet
27:53The reason for this is the plaster actually cures under water and it'll stop cracks from forming
27:59The easiest way to keep it wet fill the pool with water and it's going to be a scorcher today
28:04So it's really tempting to go swimming right now, but I suppose we got work to do
28:09We're finally ready to start building our deck we've got 34 caissons
28:15These are all four feet deep and these are what's going to support the deck itself
28:20First thing we need to do is frame out almost
28:221500 square feet of deck that will surround the pool
28:28So we're using this composite deck frame that we used on other projects because it's one and done
28:32We're never going to have to replace it. It's never going to rot
28:35The crew is putting them in as we go i'm cutting them and stacking them in order and we're just
28:40assembly lining it
28:41By noon it feels like we're working inside an oven 110 degrees and baking around here
28:48The weather does not mess around one day. It's frying pan hot
28:52The next day you've got hail the size of golf balls and a few weeks later. Yeah, Alex. What are
28:58you doing?
29:00You're buried in snow
29:03That's why we're building a heated pool with a cover tougher than the weather
29:07But today it's just plain hot
29:12And that's the main reason we're building this pool
29:15Because we can give our friends and family and visitors a place to relax and cool off
29:25We're working a lot of long days on this build but no matter how busy the days are
29:29I'm always glad to get a quick call from Alex at dance camp
29:34Hey kid home, how's the day?
29:35Great day. We had food and had breakfast and then we have to get on the bus and go to
29:41the studios
29:42I picked up your custom fence post panels. They look awesome. Oh good. You're a rock star. Thank you kiddo.
29:49Love you
29:51Awesome
30:02Our plaster coat is cured so we're draining the pool to move to the next step
30:07The biofiltration system and another amazing team of experts is here to help me accomplish something
30:13I've been dreaming about for years
30:16Looks like a pile of fun fellas
30:18Dude amazing
30:20So we're starting the process of putting this biofilter together
30:23Why this is so exciting for me is this is technology at its finest in my opinion
30:29For ever and ever we just dumped chlorine into pools problem is when that water drains out into the landscape
30:36It can be really bad for the environment
30:39So the ability to have this and be a truly natural swimming pool was really important to sprout and eye
30:44for the sustainability piece of it
30:45Now instead of using chlorine along with traditional filters
30:49We're turning this entire section into a natural biofilter chamber
30:55The water seeps through layers of limestone rock that naturally remove the bacteria
31:01Then flows into a system of pipes and filters that catch even the smallest impurities before returning crystal clear to
31:07the pool
31:09So the next step for us is you said we're going to put in just a little layer like six
31:12to eight inches of the limestone gravel
31:14Yep, rake it all out flat and then we're going to assemble all the white pvc pipes
31:18Exactly
31:19Then these get screwed into the actual filter and then we slowly start filling it the rest of the way
31:24with the gravel
31:24Yeah right up to the top awesome. We'll start playing. Let's get going. I love it
31:28We got it. We got it. We'll put that down lower it and success. Okay. I'm holding
31:40This biofilter system takes a couple of days to install
31:45Let's just fast forward to the end about the 20th load of dough
31:52I'm gonna hose it a little bit first, okay
31:55So we have the filter almost completely finished the entire biochamber is surrounded by 20 tons of three-quarter inch
32:03limestone gravel
32:04pretty cool
32:08With the biofilter installed the finish lines finally in sight and soon at this one-of-a-kind pool will
32:15be ready to share with some very special
32:17friends and family
32:28There's still a few steps to go before we're done
32:31For starters, we're priming the pool with epoxy before applying the final coating
32:40Now the final coat is super cool and it's not only because it isn't rolled or brushed on
32:48It's blasted on with a flamethrower
32:52So that torch is a thousand degrees and they're injecting powder with high pressure air in front of that flame
33:01And what it's doing is basically turning to liquid as it comes through the flame and then sticks to the
33:07wall
33:07And almost instantly it's dry and cured
33:12What's also cool about this layer is it's a special finish that not only seals the pool
33:17But helps keep the water crystal clear
33:20So they're gonna do three layers of this all the way around
33:24Man, that's gotta be a hot job in there
33:29I can't just stand around and watch these guys work on my pool
33:32I gotta jump in and help out and yeah, I had to change shirts this thing gives off so much
33:38heat
33:38I sweated through the last one
33:43Today is one of those big change days
33:48We had 31,000 feet of sod delivered
33:55So 31,000 square feet is like 12 single-family homes worth of space
34:03So we've got a crew of people here today and we're gonna get all this sod laid down
34:09And we're just gonna go go go so by tonight this whole thing will be green all the way up
34:14to the sidewalk
34:16When the sun's beating down and the crew starts to drag it's time to break out the ultimate power tool
34:29Swanky-wanky
34:31Morning
34:35I'll find you some coffee
34:39Mmm, that's good darn it
34:43Now that dustin's got more fuel in his tank
34:45I'm gonna focus on the water fountain idea that I came up with
34:48And I'll add a little touch of mystery and magic to the pool
34:51This is what's called a source stone
34:55So this is gonna sit on a basin at ground level and then we landscape all around it
34:59Underneath that basin is a pump and a water line that comes up and basically bubbles water out of the
35:05top of the stone
35:06So when you look at it, there's this stone that just water is coming off of it and disappearing
35:11Let's make a source stone
35:16This is one of the rocks off the local hillside here and we just want to drill a hole through
35:20it so we can run our water
35:21The fun thing for me is to take natural things and modify them taking this very very heavy very permanent
35:28thing and turning it into something ethereal
35:39That's pretty spot on
35:43That's pretty spot on
35:43Next steps for us is run our plumbing down and connect it from underneath we're gonna fill it with water
35:47flip it up
35:50There's nothing better than seeing a plan come together
36:03Sprouts in my vision for this pool is almost a reality the final steps include adding 1500 square feet of
36:11decking
36:12We're using a marine grade composite material in a lighter color that blends in with the environment
36:21And speaking of blending into nature we're planting sedum on the living roof this hardy succulent will soak up rainwater
36:29and help insulate the restaurant below
36:32The pool coating has set and it's time to fill it with water
36:37We also got delivery of a special piece of gear
36:41All right our pool cover has arrived
36:44This weatherproof cover keeps the water clean when the storms roll in but neatly retracts under the deck when the
36:51sun's shining
36:52Here we go
37:03One of the last steps in this epic build is to get sprouts custom-designed fence panels into place
37:11We're mounting these panels between the posts and they're super heavy that's why we have the cart
37:20Takes all we can two of us just lift it
37:29On to the next yeah one down and only 15 more to go
37:36Don't worry dustin when this build is done you can cannonball to the cows come home
37:54After months of hard work the big day is finally here
38:01And I am super excited to reveal this one-of-a-kind build to our good friends family clients and
38:08neighbors
38:10We're getting some final items into place and my favorite designer is back on the job just in time
38:18This looks awesome kid we like have a pool it's almost surreal that it's here and it's
38:23That we're standing on this deck and not work clothes. I was thinking like I feel like a girl
38:29Like I'm not dressed in work pants and a t-shirt and I don't have like a sun hat line
38:36This is so exciting
38:38All right three two one come on down
38:46This is amazing
38:49Welcome
38:55This is totally what you thought it'd look like when you rounded the corner didn't it man well no
39:05No
39:06It's beautiful a pool an actual pool in South Dakota. Yes
39:12Inground concrete pool with a cover and a heater man. How did you come up with this?
39:18So when we built the dock last season super excited. I love jumping off
39:23We're there almost every day
39:24But also realizing that it's not for everyone so sort of the idea for the pool was born from that
39:30love how clear the water is
39:31You can't see it but under the long dock over there is a biofilter. So this pool does not have
39:37chlorine in it. It's awesome
39:39Look at all the metal panels the cutouts so cool
39:42Yes, we had those custom made I wanted to use shapes that were actually on short grass here
39:49Flowers and plants to help make it a part of the landscape as a metal guy seeing all the fed
39:56outs that were on there
39:58You know, that was really cool. It gives you that vacation vibe
40:02It's really an oasis in an oasis now. So what's your favorite part?
40:07goodness
40:08I
40:09Think the boulders were probably one of my favorite things that we did on this project because it was someone
40:13else's very specific kind of art that I can't do
40:17How do they keep doing it everything they do is just absolutely beautiful?
40:21I'm gonna be calling Kathy and Alex all the time. Can I come over? Can I come over?
40:28We started this so long ago
40:30And to be standing here on a 92 degree day with a pool full of water a group full of
40:36friends here and this view
40:40I'm just I don't have words to describe how excited I am about this
40:49In my entire career it's the biggest job we've ever done
40:52But there's a lot of fun to build
40:55It's beautiful. Well, you guys ready to relax. We'll go get some drinks. Yes. Yes, please
41:06Let's see if I can kick these boots off
41:10Get comfortable
41:11It's an amazing day and the people just keep coming almost everyone who worked with us throughout the year
41:18David and Ruby and Dustin and Tanner all of them work so hard day in and day out
41:25They just put their heart and soul into every one of these projects we wanted to celebrate them because they're
41:30so important in getting these builds done
41:48Hey D can I borrow you real quick? Yeah
41:51Um
41:52Have a seat the seats for you. This is for you. We wanted you to have a break
41:57Okay, here's the deal
42:00Oh boy, it's summertime, buddy
42:02It's like you have a badger just like sitting on your face
42:06doctor
42:08Okay, so it's gonna be pretty
42:12It's gonna be pretty pain
42:18It's because we love you
42:21All right, oh my god, okay, let go. Let him go. Let him go. Let him run. Let him run
42:26Wait till he goes to sleep. Oh
42:30Give me that
42:38It is like a whole badger
42:40Here have a seat. Have a seat. Oh, please let me all right. Here you go. Love you. I think
42:45we just leave the the chops
42:49I'm gonna be shedding for a while
