00:00Yeah, for Colin to win, the first thing I thought about watching that putt drop was we spent the whole
00:06year 2024 and really leading to 2025 saying like, golly, this guy did everything he could that following year to
00:13win without winning, including he would have won the 2024 Tour Championship was being played under the 2025 format, but
00:23did not.
00:23And so, you know, after a, a more challenging year last year, you know, where he almost wins the Arnold
00:29Palmer Invitational, but of course, Russell Henley kind of pips him there at the end with that chip in. It's
00:34nice to see callback on the winner's circle. And not necessarily, I mean, he opened the season, he missed the
00:41cut, it's the Sony and then T54, the W and Phoenix Open. And we heard him talking throughout the week,
00:47Amanda Balionis and others saying like, really, you know, didn't feel like I had my game, but kind of beat
00:53myself.
00:53up trying to find it. And where's he? Where's he end up with the winner's circle here on Sunday?
00:59Yes, I have for one didn't see it coming, even though any player can find form at this level and
01:07on the PGA Tour when you have just the exceptional ball striking column workout that he has. And you go
01:14look at his stats, even from from last season, you're like, oh, he had a terrible year. And you go
01:17look at his T to green stats.
01:19And he's like at the top of all these stats of whether it be iron T to green. And you're
01:23just thinking yourself, why do we continue to go back and forth on this guy? Like he's a generational iron
01:32player. Like he's one of the best iron players that we've seen come up in a very long time. Now,
01:38I think there's a couple reasons that we kind of go back and forth on this.
01:42So we have that that very hot 2024 season where he had seven top fives, you know, multiple runner ups,
01:51close calls, just like you were talking about, Charlie.
01:53And then even into the following season, second at century, and then that Bay Hill loss, I think that was
01:59the one where it felt like it was Colin Morikawa's to lose.
02:05It was a difficult day, hard golf course, firm conditions. This is exactly what Colin Morikawa is built to win
02:12as far as PGA Tour events like that should have been a felt like a shoe in victory down the
02:16stretch.
02:16Russell Henley chips in at 16 and all of a sudden he gets off 18 and Russell Henley's winning. He's
02:21like, what just happened? And I think that when that event, I think I don't know if haunted is is
02:29the correct word, but I think just kind of didn't get him the confidence that he needed to to carry
02:39on the rest of the season.
02:40And it just kind of got worse and worse with then now changing things. He's changing putters. He's changing caddies.
02:47And we've talked about it a ton last year, Charlie, about how, you know, him leading up to the Ryder
02:54Cup, like, do we really want to pick the guy who's like, not necessarily like in form changing a lot?
03:00Like, is that a good recipe heading into the Ryder Cup? This is a also, you know, he actually, I
03:06mean, he still made the tour championship. So it's not like he had like a bad year in 2025.
03:11But and then to the last thing I'll mention with the Ryder Cup is that how often have we brought
03:15up? Gosh, how could you send out Colin Morikawa and Harris English to play in the Ryder Cup?
03:21These guys can't handle the Europeans. I think there's just been this a lot of negative talk when it comes
03:26to Colin Morikawa, just in like what he's able to bring, whether to be to the teams or what he
03:34brings to the PGA Tour week to week.
03:37And today, was it was it an answer to is this guy going to win a ton moving forward?
03:44I think getting the monkey off his back was a huge start for a player like him.
03:49And you've seen it. Once he starts winning, it can come in bunches and not just it's not just events
03:55like this, which a pebble signature event is pretty big event.
03:58But it was it was it felt like more like a corn fairy tour event with the scoring who was
04:03going to win a bit of race to the finish.
04:04But this guy's built to win on very difficult golf courses.
04:09So as we head into that stretch coming up that this this could be the event just to kind of
04:14get that confidence back.
