Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge is issuing a warning to the public that indecent behaviour, in particular sex acts, will not be tolerated for this year's Carnival.

His message to masqueraders who received pleasure devices in their goodie bags is not to bring them on the road.

Alicia Boucher has the details.
Transcript
00:00Large mass ban tribe which added a rose, a vibrating pleasure device, among the handouts to its masqueraders,
00:07is something that hasn't gone under the radar of Defense Minister Wayne Sturge.
00:11We ask that you leave the toys and the devices at home and you can use them in the quietude
00:16of your home.
00:18Please do not use them in any public space.
00:21The minister says there are cameras everywhere including CCTV attached to private homes and cell phones.
00:27But this sex device is not the only thing he is cautioning against.
00:32I saw over the last few years persons in bands copulating in public.
00:40If you are caught copulating in public, you will also be made an example of.
00:45There are laws to deal with that.
00:47Whether it's copulating or engaging in acts of serious indecency, you will be taught a very hard lesson.
00:54The courts are ready for that.
00:56The penalty for serious indecency, which is defined as an act other than sexual intercourse involving the use of the
01:03genitals for arousing or gratifying sexual desire, is five years imprisonment.
01:09Sturge says there are children looking on at carnival activities and he's also reminding people that their reputation is at
01:15stake.
01:16Meanwhile, Culture Minister Michelle Benjamin asked to weigh in on tribes' actions, says her mother is a pastor.
01:22Everyone has to be responsible for their actions.
01:27Given that tribe would have given that facility, that does not mean you have to utilize it.
01:33I am the minister of culture.
01:35I do not partake in alcohol beverages and I am outing parties every night.
01:42And she has a message for young women.
01:44And young ladies, be safe, respect yourself.
01:49Me having a religious mother and coming from a religious home, I was not limited to what I could participate
01:59in, what I could do.
02:00But following stern instructions, respect yourself if you want others to respect you.
02:07On another note, Kiddie's Carnival is set to take off on Saturday and Sunday.
02:11And Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says children sometimes become lost in the celebrations.
02:17He has an advice for parents and guardians.
02:20Please place some sort of information on the young children playing mass or accompanying you just in case they would
02:33have strayed so that someone will be able to identify who the parents and a phone number so they can
02:40immediately communicate with persons, with these young children if ever it happens.
