00:00:00Hey, what's going on y'all? Welcome in Wake Up Barstool Friday.
00:00:04We got a really good, uh, what's, what's going on here, boys?
00:00:09What's going on here?
00:00:10You guys can kiss at the brain.
00:00:13Oh, no.
00:00:15Why are you so far? I miss you.
00:00:18The big guys are upset that Megan has split them up.
00:00:21I did not make this call. I did not make this call.
00:00:23We're very excited. Megan now on the scene where she should have been from the beginning.
00:00:27It's going to be a great Friday. We're going to head to the money corner.
00:00:29We're going to put a final bow on the Super Bowl.
00:00:32We got some breaking news out of Trinidad Chambliss, college football.
00:00:36Cadenx is going to break down film of the number one overall draft pick, most likely.
00:00:40So it's going to be very fun. It's Wake Up Barstool.
00:00:41It all starts right now on FS1.
00:00:59Hey, what's up, T-Bob A-Bear? We got Dana Beers, Mikey Koenig, and Megan making money here on the set with you today to do some Wubbin.
00:01:16A bit of a senioritis Wubb edition, as we'll be off next week.
00:01:20Everybody's very excited to have some fun today. We got a lot of good stuff to get to.
00:01:24Can't wait to talk to Brock. You heard about this Seattle team as well.
00:01:27What's going on? You said you're feeling swollen today.
00:01:30You and Dana both said it right before we came on air.
00:01:32Dude, look how monstrous I look next to Megan.
00:01:34Well, that's what I was going to say. I think it's just because Megan is next to you all now.
00:01:37My face feels very swollen. My eyes feel puffy.
00:01:40I look like Shrek.
00:01:41It's like Shrek next to you.
00:01:44What the hell's going on?
00:01:46To be fair.
00:01:47My eyes look small.
00:01:48I'm like 5'7", so you guys are really tall.
00:01:53That's what everyone should know.
00:01:54Yeah, 6'4". Ladies, happy Valentine's Day to all you guys out there.
00:01:596'4", 320, 315.
00:02:02So, Mikey, you're surrounded by three very happily married people here.
00:02:06So, what does the single, newly crowned national champion, AFC South Commissioner, Michael Kadik, get up to on a Saturday Valentine?
00:02:17First of all, I'm married to the game.
00:02:18True. My bad. Not single. Married to the game, which we'll see during Crawlers later.
00:02:23Saturday, it's going to look like a lot of the boys.
00:02:28All the single boys.
00:02:29Imagine that.
00:02:30Imagine that.
00:02:30Get out there.
00:02:31Where, you know, the thing about Valentine's Day landing on a Saturday is everyone that's out is going to be single.
00:02:38Yeah.
00:02:39Yeah, because most others will be at dinner.
00:02:41Dinner and doing things with their loved ones.
00:02:43So, me and the boys will get after it.
00:02:45We'll get out there.
00:02:46You could find the love of your life.
00:02:47You never know.
00:02:48Probably not, but we'll see.
00:02:50Why don't you do like a little like K-2 Crawler meetup where it's just like a bunch of beautiful women that come and hang out with you.
00:02:55Yeah, there'd probably be like, what, 200, 500 people there?
00:02:58You do it, and then it's just, oh, dudes.
00:03:02Sick.
00:03:02Oh, dudes, young and beer.
00:03:04It's so sick.
00:03:05It's like the opposite of Galentine's Day.
00:03:06It's not what I wanted this to be.
00:03:08I love you and Dana drinking beers together, dude.
00:03:11Well, the Friday is Galentine's Day, so I feel like maybe the boys need one, too.
00:03:14What is Galentine's Day?
00:03:15It's like the girls' version.
00:03:17So, today is like the pre-Valentine's Day where you give your girls gifts and do girly stuff.
00:03:23So, the boys should have Sunday where the boys have like Manentine's Day.
00:03:27Broentine's?
00:03:29I don't know what that's going to call it.
00:03:30Broentine's?
00:03:30I don't know either.
00:03:31I'm excited.
00:03:32We're not going to go out to eat.
00:03:33We decided we're going to try to steam some lobster.
00:03:36We're going to try to cook some lobster at the crib.
00:03:39Crab legs are so much better than lobster.
00:03:41We should do it on the grill instead.
00:03:42Unpopular.
00:03:43Do it on the grill?
00:03:43Agreed.
00:03:44Yeah.
00:03:44Really?
00:03:45Yeah.
00:03:46Use some scissors, cut them open, put them on the grill, baste them in butter and garlic.
00:03:50Well, as we learned during last Friday's dip competition, you're much more accomplished
00:03:55cook than any of us because you smashed us in that dig.
00:03:58And we were looking at...
00:03:59I'm so sad I missed it, dude.
00:04:01You would have loved it.
00:04:02I'm the biggest dip guy you'll ever meet.
00:04:04It was so awesome, dude.
00:04:05They were all pretty good because, I mean, it's hard to mess up meat and cheese.
00:04:08But Megan's was, like, clear.
00:04:09And I was watching a great behind-the-scenes video that Owen made on it, and the level
00:04:15of competence in which Megan operates compared to all of us, Neanderthals, like, clunking
00:04:21around, trying to figure out what's what was not even close.
00:04:25Oh, yeah.
00:04:25I got a question, boys, before we get into it.
00:04:27I want to get to Super Bowl.
00:04:28Dana's famous now.
00:04:29He's, like, hanging out with Tom Brady, Jon Hamm, Cooper DeGene.
00:04:33Not Cooper DeGene.
00:04:35But I have a feeling...
00:04:36You hates me.
00:04:37T-Bob, we did talk about this yesterday.
00:04:39You are obsessed with Cooper DeGene.
00:04:41What?
00:04:41Yeah.
00:04:42I mean, what's the problem with being a...
00:04:43No, I know.
00:04:43But, like, every time we talk about, like, the NFL, you just, like...
00:04:47Or a very nice body, you always say, like, Cooper DeGene.
00:04:51I've always maintained that you cannot trust a white guy with abs.
00:04:56It's a...
00:04:57It's far too powerful of a combination.
00:05:00They always find ways to lose their shirt.
00:05:01Also, guys, he is singular.
00:05:04He's a white quarterback.
00:05:05Like, he broke...
00:05:06Yeah.
00:05:06He...
00:05:06It was...
00:05:07Since Jason Seahorn, when I was a little kid, like, it's impressive what he's been able
00:05:12to do.
00:05:13It is.
00:05:13Look at that, dude.
00:05:14Dana, Tom Brady, brother.
00:05:16Yeah.
00:05:17Listen, I...
00:05:18It's...
00:05:19I feel like it's still gonna take, like, another week for me to process that this happened.
00:05:23That's my hero.
00:05:24Yeah.
00:05:24That is my legitimate hero.
00:05:26And then there's Jon Hamm, who was just cooking me the whole game.
00:05:30He was just laughing in my face.
00:05:32But you guys look like boys.
00:05:34We are boys.
00:05:34We were hanging out the whole game.
00:05:36He was talking to me as if we had known each other for decades.
00:05:39And he had the Rob Lowe fit on?
00:05:41He was just rocking NFL gear?
00:05:43It was like a St. Louis Card...
00:05:45Not Cardinals.
00:05:46It was...
00:05:47I don't know.
00:05:47It was a Cardinals from the 70s.
00:05:50Oh, so the old school St. Louis Cardinals NFL team.
00:05:53NFL, yes.
00:05:54Ah, okay.
00:05:55Right on.
00:05:55Interesting.
00:05:56Did Tom Brady have, like, a posse with him?
00:05:58No, not really.
00:05:59It was just a small crew.
00:06:01But shout-out to DraftKings.
00:06:02Shout-out to Jeremy for hooking that up.
00:06:04That was awesome.
00:06:05Awesome time.
00:06:06So it's a little tough, though, because you meet your hero...
00:06:09Right.
00:06:10...at one of your lowest moments.
00:06:11It was...
00:06:13So the drive that was going on was the Seahawks were running the ball down our throats.
00:06:20Yeah.
00:06:20And I remember they had some chunk plays, and I'm, like, trying to lock in.
00:06:24And all of a sudden, over my right shoulder is Tom Brady.
00:06:26I'm, like, this is...
00:06:28I'm just going to be tough to watch the Super Bowl going on when Kenneth Walker is running
00:06:34down our throats and Tom Brady's standing next to me.
00:06:39But, listen, if you want to talk about the Super Bowl, I'm sure you've done a lot of it
00:06:43this week.
00:06:45I'm, like, weirdly...
00:06:47I'm sad, but I went into that game being, like, this is house money in a way.
00:06:51Just because I didn't expect them to win more than nine games this year.
00:06:56So, obviously, as a fan, you're disappointed, but this didn't feel like the Giants' losses
00:07:02from 2007 and 2011.
00:07:04House money, too, just because you also got a free trip to the Super Bowl.
00:07:08You got to sit in a suite.
00:07:08Yeah, I mean, the week that Dana had him and wifey are in wine country tearing it up.
00:07:15Then it's straight to San Francisco for a week, and then it's a Super Bowl suite next
00:07:20to Jon Hamm.
00:07:21Yeah.
00:07:22Like, Dana.
00:07:23Not complaining at all.
00:07:25Pretty sick, dude.
00:07:25Yeah, I mean, on balance, like, yeah, have you reflected on that?
00:07:28Like, what if you had told old high school lesbian-looking Dana that you would one day, that one
00:07:35day you would have a week?
00:07:36That lesbian averaged a double-double.
00:07:39Yeah, I know.
00:07:40It's true.
00:07:40That's true.
00:07:41People don't talk about the blocks, 1.5 blocks a game.
00:07:44Everybody should go listen to the new Big Boys Club.
00:07:46Very fun episode.
00:07:47But what would you, like, have you ever, have you reflected on that at all?
00:07:50Because that is a crazy week.
00:07:51I mean, like, to tell your younger self, like, one day, this will be you.
00:07:55Yeah, no, it still hasn't really processed.
00:07:58The whole week was awesome.
00:08:00Like, everything about it was sweet.
00:08:01It hasn't hit me yet.
00:08:02It really hasn't hit me that they've lost yet, but I'm just grateful.
00:08:07Grateful for the opportunity, and it was really, really cool.
00:08:10I never thought I'd get to meet Tom Brady.
00:08:12That's, like, bucket list stuff.
00:08:14He was my top one guy.
00:08:17Now my next guy is Adam Sandler.
00:08:19I don't know how I'm going to do it.
00:08:20Okay, I was going to say, who are the next two top guys?
00:08:23Adam Sandler and Kid Cudi.
00:08:25Now, what about this?
00:08:27Did you just take a picture with Tom, or did you talk to him?
00:08:30Like, you and Ham were kicking it, all ham and beer.
00:08:32Tom Brady was quick.
00:08:33He was in and out of the suite.
00:08:34I just said, thank you for everything you've done for us as Patriots fans.
00:08:38You're the best.
00:08:38Did he seem happy the Patriots were losing?
00:08:41He didn't seem locked into the game.
00:08:43He wasn't locked, yeah.
00:08:44He seemed like he was, like, socializing.
00:08:46I mean, Stu Feiner called us.
00:08:47He was socializing.
00:08:48It is socializing part of his career, I believe.
00:08:51I agree with that.
00:08:51And also, Stu Feiner called us.
00:08:53I don't know that he's cheering for, I mean, he's the Raiders owner.
00:08:56Yeah.
00:08:57Yeah, I don't know.
00:08:57The whole thing is bizarre.
00:08:59But whatever.
00:09:00Shout out, Tom.
00:09:01Shout out, Dana Beers.
00:09:01But you two are the live bet lads.
00:09:03Yeah.
00:09:04But I don't know.
00:09:06I mean, did you hit any live bets in the Super Bowl?
00:09:08Did you hit any live bets?
00:09:09I did.
00:09:10Because you know who did?
00:09:11Megan was cleaning up live betting the Super Bowl.
00:09:14Yeah, I think it was, I ended 14-3 on result of Next Drive.
00:09:20Oh!
00:09:20A lot of them are plus money.
00:09:22And again, if you-
00:09:23Must have been betting a lot of Patriots to not do well.
00:09:26A lot of punts.
00:09:27A lot of punts.
00:09:27A lot of field goals from the seed.
00:09:29And again, if you want to double check that to make sure it's accurate, there is a Barstool
00:09:33betting group.
00:09:33You can just scroll back and check it out.
00:09:36Talk your junk.
00:09:36So, yeah.
00:09:37I feel like we talked about how the game was going to go.
00:09:40So, as soon as it started, I was like, why not just play the script I think they're going
00:09:43to play?
00:09:44I know, and it's so crazy because normally, because I ended up with like paralysis by
00:09:48analysis where I was too afraid to commit to anything, even though that was kind of
00:09:52how we thought it was going to go.
00:09:53Mikey, I want to talk to you about Will Campbell.
00:09:55What?
00:09:56I also, before that, speaking of offensive linemen from the Super Bowl, did you see the
00:09:59first play of the game mic'd up?
00:10:01Gray Zabel.
00:10:02Shout out, Gray.
00:10:03I did hear him say the funniest, most bro-y thing ever.
00:10:07He was like, a little touchdown in the soupy?
00:10:10Yeah, talking to Jordan Love.
00:10:12Well, not Jordan Love, but Julian Love.
00:10:15When he's talking to Milton Williams?
00:10:16No, what he said.
00:10:17After the block, he said, I'm ready to die today.
00:10:20Wow.
00:10:21And I was like, that is the most primal trench talk ever.
00:10:26A little soupy for the boys.
00:10:27A little soupy?
00:10:28I mean, that's what I would say.
00:10:29I'd be like, dude, we're one quarter closer with some beers for the boys after the soupy.
00:10:34Will Campbell.
00:10:36Yeah.
00:10:36I was listening to Andrew Whitworth talk about this, that he doesn't have too much variety
00:10:42in his sets.
00:10:43Like, he's very predictable.
00:10:45And yes, he's still a rookie.
00:10:46Like, he still has a lot of work to do.
00:10:48But that one was on the guard.
00:10:50That wasn't on Will as much.
00:10:52Well, to be clear, like, he's, I get why he's getting the brunt.
00:10:55But, like, the entire line, the protection schemes, everything got outplayed.
00:10:59The two rookies playing next to each other is not the best thing.
00:11:02But another thing is, he tried Will, doesn't jump set a lot, which he should, because he's
00:11:08very good once he is locked up with the guy.
00:11:12But it's just getting to that point.
00:11:14Like, when you give a guy a vertical set, he has five, six yards to get a head start
00:11:19on you and just run through your face.
00:11:20And, like, it's just hard.
00:11:21And he doesn't do a great job sitting down bull rushes.
00:11:24When you get a bull rush, and you know this, T-Bob, like, you're supposed to literally hop,
00:11:27physically hop back, reroute your legs into the ground, and, like, kind of lift him up,
00:11:31get leverage.
00:11:33He just wasn't doing that.
00:11:34He was just backing straight up.
00:11:35And when he did hop, he was already in Drake's lap.
00:11:37So, like, there's, obviously, he's young.
00:11:39And people are giving him so much crap.
00:11:41I'm like, relax.
00:11:43Yeah.
00:11:43He is 23 years old playing the best athletes in the world, edge rushers.
00:11:49In the Super Bowl.
00:11:49In the Super Bowl.
00:11:50Like, it's hard to do.
00:11:52And, like, when you get off, when you get off rhythm early in the game, like he did,
00:11:57then you're just kind of screwed the rest of the game.
00:11:58It's a bad fit.
00:11:59Well, and to me, what you highlighted in there, that's where my head goes when I think
00:12:03about Campbell is, physically, I know he's capable.
00:12:06People say short arms, whatever.
00:12:07You can overcome that, right?
00:12:08The real test for Will Campbell here is mental this offseason.
00:12:15Because he's going to have to deal with just endless talk.
00:12:20Like, you know when he's, like, courtside earlier in the year at the Celtics game, everybody's
00:12:23loving him.
00:12:24Now he does that.
00:12:24Who knows what happens, right?
00:12:25Yeah, exactly.
00:12:26Maybe some of the A-holes start booing.
00:12:28Like, so the mental test for Will Campbell is, and think about, as a rookie, think about
00:12:34the defenses he got presented with in the playoffs.
00:12:37You're going to use the Chargers and Khalil Mack, and then you go straight to, what, Benito
00:12:42and the Broncos.
00:12:44Oh, and you get Daniil Hunter and Will Anderson in the Texans.
00:12:47And then you're going up with the Seahawks, who are actually the best defense of all.
00:12:50So, like, you could not have been tried harder.
00:12:53I think he's going to come back stronger.
00:12:54But again, mentally, he's got to overcome.
00:12:56I got a question for you guys on the mental aspect as linemen.
00:12:59Say you have a couple of those plays where you allow some pressures earlier in the game.
00:13:04Have you ever had those games where it kind of just, like, mentally gets to you, and it
00:13:08can really just be a burden the rest of the game?
00:13:10Well, then you start second-guessing, like, your mechanics that you've been doing for 15,
00:13:1416 years.
00:13:15Then you start second-guessing, oh, is it me?
00:13:18Like, oh, am I getting enough help?
00:13:20And then you start, like, breaking down of, like, oh, is the rest of the O-line doing their
00:13:26jobs?
00:13:26But, like, it's really just you.
00:13:28And then you start second-guessing everything, oh, the running backs, or this, or that, and
00:13:32then, oh, my hands could have, it's like, you start nitpicking everything, and that's
00:13:36when you just get into a hellhole of doom.
00:13:39It's funny, because you just don't really think that a mental aspect would play too much
00:13:44as linemen, because it's so, like, in the trenches.
00:13:47Yeah, but it is a lot of, especially mechanics.
00:13:49Well, but it's, and it's also a position that is unlike many others in that you have to
00:13:56be perfect.
00:13:57Yeah.
00:13:57You win, let's say you run 60 plays in a game, you win 57, but you give up three sacks,
00:14:04and you're done.
00:14:06You're cut.
00:14:07Like, you're bad.
00:14:08Yeah.
00:14:08So there is no margin of error.
00:14:10And, Dana, I think one thing that my old man always taught me, and it is the football
00:14:15golden rule.
00:14:16It's really the life golden rule, but it's one snap and clear.
00:14:19Yeah.
00:14:20Right?
00:14:20It doesn't matter if you did good the last play, it doesn't matter if you did bad the last
00:14:23play.
00:14:23All that matters is a current play, but accomplishing that is much harder than saying that.
00:14:29Yeah.
00:14:29I thought you were going to go, like, protect others as you want to be protected.
00:14:33No, I do like that.
00:14:34Like, yeah, that's the literal football golden rule.
00:14:37No, once to have it clear is, like, life philosophy, because it's just rooted in being present and
00:14:41not letting, like, whatever just happened affect what's going to happen.
00:14:44Oh, dude.
00:14:45If I was a lineman, I would so let things affect me.
00:14:48I mean, everybody's been there, dude.
00:14:50That's why I would just, like, have fun out there.
00:14:52I'd be like, yo, boys, like, talking to the D-line.
00:14:54Well, I'll touch that in the soup.
00:14:55So good, dude.
00:14:56I'd be, like, talking to the D-line.
00:14:57I'd be like, boys, we chilling this next play?
00:14:59We're like, what?
00:15:00We getting a totty in the soupy or what?
00:15:03Dana, where are you at with Drake May?
00:15:05Do you trust Campbell going forward with May?
00:15:07Do you trust May?
00:15:09It wasn't the best playoff run for him either.
00:15:12He's just kind of, Campbell's a bit of a lightning rod right now, kind of taking some of the
00:15:16criticism from him.
00:15:17Yeah, I absolutely trust him.
00:15:18I think this is, he's 20, what is he, 23 or 24 years old.
00:15:22Second year in the league.
00:15:23I know we just saw Jay and Daniels go to the NFC Championship and have a bad season the
00:15:28next year, but I have a lot of faith in him.
00:15:31Him and Vrabel, I think, together, there's not much to worry about.
00:15:36I think they have the foundation.
00:15:37They're ready to spend money.
00:15:39They bought a bunch of free agents this last year.
00:15:43I'm not too worried.
00:15:44I think it's just a bad stretch of football.
00:15:46It's a long season.
00:15:48People get hurt.
00:15:49People get banged up.
00:15:50I think he's just fine.
00:15:51So he's pretty close to the case.
00:15:52Meg, what about you?
00:15:53Do you believe in Drake May?
00:15:54Yeah, I don't think that there's any reason right now for me not to believe in Drake May,
00:15:59just like how I kind of clowned Darnold last week.
00:16:02Yeah.
00:16:02Yeah, they went to a Super Bowl, obviously won one, one didn't.
00:16:05But Drake May came back from, again, as Dana has said a lot of times, their season last
00:16:10year, not good.
00:16:11But then they go to the Super Bowl, and he's a big part of it.
00:16:16Yeah, that's a really good point that I had to consider.
00:16:18Like, he's already shown the ability to overcome massive adversity and going 4-13 and then coming
00:16:24back and doing what he did this year.
00:16:25Did I just say Jay Jales was a second-year quarterback last year?
00:16:28No, you said it right.
00:16:29Well, even if you didn't say it right, it sounded right.
00:16:31Okay.
00:16:32I might have messed that up.
00:16:34We're not going to clock you on it.
00:16:35Nah, dude, you're all right.
00:16:36I just want to say apologies to Sam Darnold.
00:16:38I said I didn't believe in you.
00:16:40Congratulations.
00:16:41Seems like a really cool guy.
00:16:43Happy for him.
00:16:43That's a big man right there.
00:16:44I'm doubling that and also saying it because I doubt it.
00:16:48The voice beers.
00:16:49And we'll never do Sam Darnold again.
00:16:51No, we will.
00:16:53Sam Darnold.
00:16:53All right, coming up next, guys, Ask Wub.
00:16:56Or that's not coming up next, but you can ask questions on Twitter.
00:16:58Hashtag Ask Wub.
00:17:00We'll answer them all kind of throughout the show and really at the end.
00:17:03You can ask us about anything.
00:17:04Coming up next, we have some fun NFL questions.
00:17:07We're going to play with a brand new game.
00:17:10Is it safe to assume?
00:17:11It's next.
00:17:12Here on Wicked Bar, so don't go anywhere.
00:17:14This is FS1.
00:17:17Get it together, Mikey.
00:17:18That was a crap segment for me, okay?
00:17:20Tighten up, you son of a...
00:17:23Hey, guys.
00:17:26Welcome in to Wicked Barstool.
00:17:27Stay in TT, Bob.
00:17:28So I think it's safe to assume...
00:17:30Well, ah, blew it.
00:17:32All right, we're debuting a new game.
00:17:34It's called Safe to Assume.
00:17:36We're going to give a take, and we'll agree or disagree with it.
00:17:38But before we start the game, I think it's safe to assume that one of you two, you see
00:17:44your boogers growing up.
00:17:45Is that fair?
00:17:46Never did that.
00:17:47Because right now...
00:17:51I won your kid.
00:17:52How old are we talking?
00:17:54We talked to...
00:17:55How old?
00:17:56We talked to Mama Beers, and Dana used to eat rocks.
00:17:59He used to eat pennies all the time.
00:18:01So my own son is going down a Dana Path.
00:18:04He's already eating a penny, right?
00:18:06He had to get rid of that.
00:18:06Probably going to be an absolute legend.
00:18:08Exactly.
00:18:09I hope he goes down a Dana Path.
00:18:10He'll be hanging out with Jon Hamm one day.
00:18:12You're really old, Jon Hamm.
00:18:13The point is, though...
00:18:14Little Bobby.
00:18:15He's three.
00:18:15Quad Bob.
00:18:16Quad Bob.
00:18:17He loves to eat his boogers, dude.
00:18:19And I can't stop him.
00:18:21He probably watches his dad.
00:18:23It makes me gag.
00:18:24Me and my wife are begging him.
00:18:25We're like, dude, stop.
00:18:27You can't be a booger eater.
00:18:28That's not good.
00:18:29And I can imagine him just looking you both straight in your eyes while sticking his...
00:18:33Yeah, he loves it!
00:18:34Laughing.
00:18:35He just smiles.
00:18:36I think he thinks it tastes great.
00:18:38He'll never stop.
00:18:38No, he has to stop.
00:18:40He sees what his dad does, and he just does what his dad does.
00:18:43You can't get a booger eater.
00:18:44He eats boogers like his dad.
00:18:45I don't eat boogers.
00:18:46I've never eaten a booger.
00:18:47Yeah.
00:18:47Okay?
00:18:48I didn't know if anybody had any...
00:18:49It's a breakfast show, T-Bomb.
00:18:51Yeah, I was just about to say.
00:18:52People at home are probably enjoying their morning.
00:18:54The breakfast show.
00:18:54Oh, my God.
00:18:55Get over yourselves.
00:18:57It's safe to assume you guys would love a skillet right now.
00:19:00You could have said that.
00:19:01Yeah.
00:19:02If you get so distracted by a three-year-old eating boogers that you can't eat a skillet,
00:19:08you've got to toughen the hell up.
00:19:09Yeah, but let the kid be, dude.
00:19:10You're not hungry enough.
00:19:11Let the kid be.
00:19:12Just let anything go grow out.
00:19:13If he wants to be a booger guy, be a booger guy.
00:19:15He'll be a cool guy.
00:19:16When did you stop eating, Dana?
00:19:18He's going to be a cool guy.
00:19:18I couldn't tell you, but...
00:19:20Just eventually got out of it?
00:19:21Yeah, I mean, listen.
00:19:22Okay.
00:19:23Every now and then, there's...
00:19:24Never mind.
00:19:25I'm just happy he doesn't have to put any of those things on Dana Tries.
00:19:29That's true.
00:19:30That's that one.
00:19:30Welcome back to episode 38 of Dana Tries.
00:19:33Booger.
00:19:34All right.
00:19:35Now, let's play some safe to assume, guys.
00:19:37Put the graphic up.
00:19:38Let's see what our first question is.
00:19:40It's safe to assume the Eagles trade A.J. Brown.
00:19:43To the Patriots.
00:19:44Yes.
00:19:45Oh, wow.
00:19:46I feel like he...
00:19:46I don't know if he's...
00:19:47He loves the Patriots.
00:19:47Yeah, I think he wants to get...
00:19:49I don't know.
00:19:49I feel like he's just never happy in Philly.
00:19:52He's never satisfied.
00:19:54I would say this is safe to assume, yeah.
00:19:57I think he's not...
00:19:58He was in the headlines pretty much every week talking about throwing me the ball for two
00:20:04years.
00:20:05Yeah.
00:20:05Yeah.
00:20:06I mean...
00:20:07But it hasn't happened for two years.
00:20:08But they still win.
00:20:10But I don't like this game because you know what assuming does.
00:20:13Yeah.
00:20:13Yeah.
00:20:13But is he wide receiver one?
00:20:15Makes you to ask the U of me.
00:20:16On the Eagles?
00:20:16Is he wide receiver one or is Devontae Smith wide receiver one?
00:20:18I think it's Devontae Smith, right?
00:20:20I think A.J. Brown's wide receiver one.
00:20:21He should be number one.
00:20:22But I just...
00:20:23I think that they don't take advantage of their receivers.
00:20:25Exactly.
00:20:26I've been the most massive Jalen Hurts supporter, but last year got dark enough where even I
00:20:32like don't have much to stand on.
00:20:33I think it's safe to assume that if he gets traded, he will probably not be happy on the
00:20:39new team as well.
00:20:40No, that's okay.
00:20:41That's actually...
00:20:42Do you think so?
00:20:43I mean...
00:20:43He's just a diva no matter what?
00:20:45Could be.
00:20:45I mean, there's some guys out there that just, you know, give me the ball.
00:20:48Me, me, me.
00:20:49There's...
00:20:49It'd be quarterback dependent, right?
00:20:51Yeah.
00:20:52Like, if I...
00:20:53And offense dependent.
00:20:54I mean, again, outside looking in, I think they would do this deal.
00:21:00But the Eagles haven't done it yet.
00:21:01But yeah, I would say yes.
00:21:02A.J. Brown gets traded.
00:21:03All right, what's our next one, guys?
00:21:06Safe to assume the Patriots win fewer than 13 games.
00:21:10Yeah, absolutely.
00:21:11Yeah.
00:21:111,010%.
00:21:12I'm telling you, the schedule this year was ridiculously easy.
00:21:18The fact that they won 13 games this year was extremely impressive.
00:21:20But I don't think they're a 13-win ball club.
00:21:25I think that was kind of an outlier.
00:21:27I think they're about a 10 or 11.
00:21:30But that's tough, because that's what I said last year.
00:21:32But...
00:21:33We got an elite defense.
00:21:34I know.
00:21:34Like, they're a very good team.
00:21:36Yes.
00:21:36But again, you don't have to overthink this one.
00:21:38It's what we said.
00:21:39It's a schedule.
00:21:39I assume it.
00:21:40Yeah, and I feel like it would be extremely hard to replicate what they did.
00:21:43Yeah.
00:21:44Yeah.
00:21:44I agree.
00:21:45I would say probably about 11 wins next year.
00:21:47But as Dana said, they proved us wrong.
00:21:49So who's not to say that they won't do it again next year?
00:21:52Still, Jets, Dolphins stink.
00:21:54I mean, the Bills are...
00:21:57The problem is not with winning the AFC East, though.
00:22:00It's that when you finish first, you play the first-place teams in the other divisions that you play, right?
00:22:06And so they have a first-place schedule.
00:22:07The Chiefs are going to have a third-place schedule.
00:22:09Yeah, true.
00:22:10The freaking Lions are going to have a dead-last schedule.
00:22:13Like, it's one of the ways in which the NFL rubber...
00:22:17It's like Mario Kart.
00:22:18It's how they rubber-band you back to keeping everybody even.
00:22:21Shout out Mario Kart.
00:22:22Shout out Mario Kart.
00:22:23What's your favorite Mario Kart?
00:22:24Character?
00:22:25No, no, like...
00:22:26Wario.
00:22:26There's a Mario Kart theory that everybody's favorite Mario Kart is their first version.
00:22:30Like, for me, it's N64.
00:22:32It's Mario Kart 64.
00:22:32Oh, it was on the Wii when we had the Wii, and we were using the Wii.
00:22:35These kids are...
00:22:35Yup, the Wii one was fine.
00:22:37And then when you'd get the wheel, you'd get the wheel, and you're like, holy crap.
00:22:43Wait, did we all never played Double Dash on GameCube?
00:22:46No, it didn't have a GameCube.
00:22:48Have you ever played Beerio Kart?
00:22:50No, what is Beerio Kart?
00:22:52It's fun.
00:22:53You have to finish your beer before your race is up.
00:22:57Oh, okay, but you can finish it on your own time.
00:22:59Yes, you can't control.
00:23:00And you may have to put the controller down to drink.
00:23:02Oh, sick.
00:23:02What if we just get a long straw?
00:23:04No, you have to.
00:23:06If you're drinking, you can't play.
00:23:08No drinking beers on a straw.
00:23:10Megan immediately cheating.
00:23:11Wait, Megan, what's your favorite Mario Kart?
00:23:13I don't know.
00:23:14It's probably the...
00:23:15I don't know which was the original I played, because I have older brothers.
00:23:18Super Nintendo was...
00:23:19It's probably Super Nintendo.
00:23:20But I do remember I had a...
00:23:23The first game console I remember was PS1, and I had the Gran Turismo game with the wheel.
00:23:28Yeah, hell yeah.
00:23:28And I love that game.
00:23:30I just want to say, just to wrap this up, I'm a very big homer, but I'm a realistic Patriots fan.
00:23:38I pride myself on that.
00:23:39Realistically, I don't think we're hitting 13 next year.
00:23:41There you go.
00:23:41All right, coming up, let's see what we got next, safety or soup.
00:23:45Daniel Jones can't replicate 2025.
00:23:47You know what?
00:23:48No, I think he can.
00:23:50I think he will.
00:23:51When does he come back, though?
00:23:53Yeah, I mean, I think nowadays he could be back for the start of the season from the Achilles.
00:24:01It happened in the middle of the season.
00:24:04I don't think he can replicate it.
00:24:05I think he will.
00:24:07I don't know, man.
00:24:08He was so good.
00:24:10Look at Tyler Warren, man.
00:24:11Shout out to Alec Pierce.
00:24:12I'm betting on Danny Dimes.
00:24:13Yeah.
00:24:14I knew you were going that way.
00:24:15I knew you were.
00:24:16Because I'm an optimist, I like to believe that people can overcome the narratives that we assign to them.
00:24:22When we tell them they suck, we did it all year with Sam Darnold.
00:24:26He did it.
00:24:27Danny Dimes, my guy Indiana Jones.
00:24:29Come on, baby.
00:24:30Imagine that storyline.
00:24:31Sam Darnold to Daniel Jones, back-to-back Super Bowls.
00:24:34Back-to-back soupies.
00:24:36Look it.
00:24:36Also, if I wanted to go...
00:24:37Daniel Jones, MVP.
00:24:39If I wanted to go full, like, litigious, like, I'm going to be a lawyer and I'm going to argue that I'm technically correct.
00:24:45Like, it was a good half season for Daniel Jones.
00:24:48Yeah.
00:24:49He may not be as, like, good as he was in the peak of that half, but he could put together a whole season.
00:24:55Yeah.
00:24:55In which they finish stronger.
00:24:57Remember how good they were?
00:24:58Remember that offense was humming?
00:24:59They were so good.
00:25:00They'll be forgotten at times, but they didn't punt for, like, a month, basically.
00:25:05That was a fun time.
00:25:06Sick.
00:25:07Safe to assume Browns will be cellar dwellers.
00:25:10I think that's safe.
00:25:12I don't...
00:25:12No.
00:25:13I don't see anything coming out of them.
00:25:15You think they're going to be good next year?
00:25:16I do not think...
00:25:17Look, okay.
00:25:19The AFC North.
00:25:21Not good.
00:25:22Yeah, huh.
00:25:23Mike Tomlin.
00:25:25Gone.
00:25:26Horrible.
00:25:26Gone.
00:25:27New coaches everywhere.
00:25:30Will they win the AFC North?
00:25:31The defense is incredible.
00:25:33God, I don't like the Todd Munkin hire, really, though.
00:25:38Dude, I'm telling you, Shadur.
00:25:40Shadur.
00:25:41I believe in Shadur.
00:25:42That's what I'm saying.
00:25:42I believe in that.
00:25:43I'm a Shadur guy.
00:25:44I have been since the beginning.
00:25:46I think Shadur is better than people give him credit for.
00:25:47I think his teammates love him.
00:25:49Remember, we talked to one of his teammates on the show about that.
00:25:53Yeah.
00:25:53Yeah, I don't think the Browns finish last place in the North.
00:25:57And in that same vein, he's a certified hater, and I'm a certified hater.
00:26:00So, yeah, I don't think that...
00:26:02I think they're going to be cellar dwellers.
00:26:03I have a question.
00:26:04Yeah.
00:26:05For the producers back in the back.
00:26:08First of all, I might be brainwashed because I'm close personal friends with Coach Prime,
00:26:12and I think Shadur is going to be good.
00:26:14He used to follow me on Instagram, or I think he follows me on Instagram.
00:26:17Can we check if he follows me on Instagram still?
00:26:18Can we check if Shadur follows, because that's going to inform this conversation.
00:26:21Shadur, the last time I checked, he followed me.
00:26:24He might have unfollowed me.
00:26:25Are we going to check on that?
00:26:26I might have...
00:26:26My content might not have been for his palette.
00:26:29But check that in the back, boys.
00:26:31If he unfollowed you, are you out?
00:26:32Are they cellar dwellers?
00:26:33You can just check.
00:26:33I can check on my phone.
00:26:35What'd you say?
00:26:36If he unfollows you...
00:26:38Cellar dwellers.
00:26:39Okay, okay, okay.
00:26:40Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:26:41I might have to...
00:26:41Shadur!
00:26:42...in Deion's ear and ask for the follow back.
00:26:45But listen, I think he's actually going to be a respectable quarterback in this...
00:26:50Also, they had a great rookie class.
00:26:52Like, outside of Shadur.
00:26:53Like, they had a great rookie class.
00:26:54Top-tier defense.
00:26:55I think they could be good.
00:26:57All right, safe to assume.
00:26:58What's the next one, guys?
00:26:58Last one here.
00:27:00The Aaron Meekers-Mike McCarthy reunion fails in Pittsburgh.
00:27:04Probably going to win the Super Bowl, I think.
00:27:05He doesn't follow me.
00:27:06Okay.
00:27:06Oh, no.
00:27:08It doesn't even matter to you.
00:27:09It doesn't matter.
00:27:10He used to follow me.
00:27:10It's all right.
00:27:11It doesn't matter.
00:27:11Oh, he doesn't follow you?
00:27:12I wonder which one was like, this is the last of Dana Beers.
00:27:17It's probably the...
00:27:18I don't know.
00:27:19I don't trust McCarthy, and I feel like Rodgers might be...
00:27:22I think father time is inevitably coming.
00:27:25I think Rodgers is old as hell, but I'm a sucker for men showing emotion.
00:27:30And ever since Mike McCarthy cried so much in that presser about loving Pittsburgh, I just...
00:27:34Love it.
00:27:34I think it's going to work.
00:27:35So if you love emotion, how are you going to think that Aaron Rodgers, like, he does
00:27:39know about...
00:27:39Yeah, he doesn't have emotion.
00:27:40That is true.
00:27:41But Mike McCarthy has enough for the both of them.
00:27:44That's fair.
00:27:44That's fair.
00:27:46I...
00:27:46Okay, but what is succeed here?
00:27:50Make the playoffs?
00:27:51Win a playoff game?
00:27:51Win a playoff game?
00:27:52Yeah, right.
00:27:53Okay, never mind.
00:27:53Then they fail.
00:27:54I don't think they win a playoff game.
00:27:55I think they do.
00:27:56Okay, I'm sure you do.
00:27:57They're going to get better on defense, brother.
00:27:59Yeah, brother.
00:28:00They have a lot of holes on defense.
00:28:01Shout out Cam Hayward, my guy.
00:28:03All right, one more here.
00:28:04Safe to assume, player boy, sophomore slump for Tyler...
00:28:07Who did this?
00:28:08Who did this?
00:28:09I think he's getting better.
00:28:11Yeah.
00:28:11I think he's getting better this year.
00:28:12What do you think, Megan?
00:28:15You know what?
00:28:16I am insanely optimistic.
00:28:19I held in for this first little go-round.
00:28:23I didn't want to go all in.
00:28:24Yeah.
00:28:24You know, because Drew Brees was my guy for a real long time.
00:28:27You know what I'm saying?
00:28:28Brees is the man.
00:28:30I don't think he'll have a sophomore slump.
00:28:31I think he will have an uptick next year.
00:28:35I agree.
00:28:36I think he was just getting started, too, Bobby.
00:28:37I think so, too.
00:28:38I agree as well.
00:28:40I agree as well.
00:28:41Production's trying to make ageist jokes in my head.
00:28:44They're disgusting.
00:28:45I'm not even going to repeat it.
00:28:47The bottom line is that there's something to be said for being an older quarterback.
00:28:51It helps you.
00:28:51It's why Trinidad Chambliss is trying to get a sixth year.
00:28:54Look where Rodgers is at.
00:28:55Yeah.
00:28:55Okay, but seriously, look at Bo Nix.
00:28:58He was old as hell coming out.
00:29:00It's made him transition faster.
00:29:01Look at Tyler Shuck.
00:29:02It's made him transition faster.
00:29:04Sam Darnold got thrust into the league at 21.
00:29:06Sam Darnold.
00:29:07And look at what happened to him.
00:29:09Okay?
00:29:09Sam Darnold.
00:29:10No sophomore slump for Tyler Shuck.
00:29:12We're going up.
00:29:13You know what's crazy about these people that are talking about quarterbacks?
00:29:17Patrick Mahomes is 30, right?
00:29:18He's going to play until he's 42.
00:29:21Yeah.
00:29:21There's 12 more years left.
00:29:22It is wild how much more the quarterback can take in the modern NFL because of how protected
00:29:29they are.
00:29:30It used to be pretty wild to get to 36, and now we kind of expect our franchise guys to
00:29:37come closer to 40.
00:29:39Hey, Nick, I'm going to be 45 when Mahomes retires.
00:29:43Whoa.
00:29:4345.
00:29:44Probably two kids, maybe?
00:29:45Yeah.
00:29:45All right.
00:29:46Guys, we have a question here.
00:29:48I'm going to be so old.
00:29:49I think the answer is going to surprise us.
00:29:51According to PFF, who is the best deep ball thrower in the NFL?
00:29:54Shadur.
00:29:55Like right now?
00:29:56It's a quiz.
00:29:57I thought it would be Drake May.
00:29:58I feel like it's going to be something weird like Shadur.
00:30:00I mean...
00:30:01Get your guesses in.
00:30:03Stafford?
00:30:04Shadur.
00:30:04Are you going to tell us when we get the name?
00:30:06Oh, so it's not Shadur.
00:30:07Stafford.
00:30:08Sam Darnold?
00:30:10Tyler Shuck.
00:30:12Lamar Jackson.
00:30:14Michael Pinnock Jr.
00:30:16Trevor Lawrence.
00:30:17Joe Burrow.
00:30:19Aaron Rodgers.
00:30:20Baker Mayfield.
00:30:22Tua.
00:30:23Justin Herbert.
00:30:25Brady Clark.
00:30:26I feel like we've named all of them.
00:30:28Bo Nix.
00:30:31Yeah.
00:30:31Wait, wait, wait.
00:30:32One more.
00:30:32Hold on, hold on.
00:30:33Give us a couple more guesses.
00:30:34Justin Herbert.
00:30:36CJ Stroud.
00:30:37Oh, wait.
00:30:43Who came in for Bo Nix?
00:30:45Aaron Rodgers?
00:30:46No, not Jared.
00:30:46Jerry Buddyman.
00:30:48Jalen Hurts.
00:30:49Who is it?
00:30:50He said we're going to be surprised.
00:30:53Oh!
00:30:54Oh, my God, dude.
00:30:57I love that.
00:30:58No way.
00:30:58I'm really.
00:30:58I'm happy for Bryce Young, dude.
00:31:00I'm happy for you.
00:31:00I like him.
00:31:01I forget about him sometimes, not going to lie.
00:31:03He's so tiny.
00:31:04I forget.
00:31:05Easy to forget.
00:31:06I like him.
00:31:07Shout out Bryce Young.
00:31:08Shout out Ted McMillan.
00:31:09Another very good rookie.
00:31:11Who do you think would look smaller in this chair between these two?
00:31:14Me or Bryce Young?
00:31:15Bryce Young.
00:31:16Without a doubt.
00:31:18I look so big.
00:31:19I'll probably be dead by 45, so.
00:31:21Dude, stop.
00:31:23What the heck?
00:31:24Woo!
00:31:26That was a.
00:31:27Parson, hit the lights.
00:31:28Titty slap.
00:31:29Joey.
00:31:29I just gave Mikey.
00:31:31The money quarter.
00:31:32We're making money.
00:31:32What's up, girl?
00:31:33Thank you for the intro, T-Bob.
00:31:35You are not late at all.
00:31:36Okay, relax.
00:31:36No worries.
00:31:37No worries.
00:31:39Thinking about the cuck tub.
00:31:40Yeah, no worries.
00:31:41I'll help myself.
00:31:41For sure.
00:31:43Yeah.
00:31:44How's that for a start to segment?
00:31:45Meg, deal with that.
00:31:46Hey, hey.
00:31:46Okay, sorry.
00:31:47It's her segment, T-Bob.
00:31:48You're right.
00:31:48Okay.
00:31:48It's my segment.
00:31:49My bad.
00:31:50Not a great Friday slate, obviously.
00:31:52There's a couple of good games with, as we looked at, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and
00:31:56then you have Miami, Ohio, who's still undefeated playing tonight.
00:31:59But I'm about to give you two picks that are not very fun.
00:32:03So.
00:32:03Oh, wow.
00:32:04We're going to go.
00:32:05The odds now are Penn minus three and a half.
00:32:07I took them at two and a half yesterday.
00:32:10Ivy League play is kind of a mixed bag.
00:32:12So when I saw that Columbia had already beaten Penn, it didn't really deter me from this
00:32:16pick.
00:32:17Penn is on a two-game win streak.
00:32:18With the last win being on their home court.
00:32:20So they are staying at home tonight.
00:32:23Columbia is on a two-game skid.
00:32:25And they are three and eight ATS in their last 11.
00:32:28Okay.
00:32:29Flip side, Penn, eight and three.
00:32:31Okay.
00:32:31Their last 11.
00:32:32And they're obviously stronger on their home court.
00:32:34So we're going with the Quakers for our first pick, which is not a lot of fun.
00:32:38Those are Ivy League schools, Mike.
00:32:39Up next, another pick that's not so fun going back to the Ivy League.
00:32:43We're going to go under.
00:32:45I have 157 and a half.
00:32:46It's now at 156 and a half.
00:32:49Cornell is the better team on both sides of the ball.
00:32:51They have a pretty sharp offense.
00:32:53And they did beat Princeton pretty decisively their last time out.
00:32:57However, as I said, mixed bag, Ivy League, Princeton is back at home.
00:33:01I think that their defense steps it up and, you know, limits Cornell's scoring.
00:33:06Last time these two played, the total was 151.
00:33:09And again, Princeton at home limits Cornell, plays some good defense, and they don't score
00:33:1480 themselves.
00:33:15I think that we go under that total.
00:33:17I have a buddy that went to Cornell.
00:33:20Not a big deal.
00:33:21Pretty smart, dude.
00:33:22Shout out OC.
00:33:23Pretty smart, dude.
00:33:24Shout out OC.
00:33:25Old Cornell.
00:33:26And then last up on the docket is going to be an exciting game.
00:33:31I am juiced for this game on Fox tonight.
00:33:34On Fox tonight.
00:33:35Michigan State at Wisconsin.
00:33:38The badges.
00:33:39And I'm taking the badges on the money line.
00:33:41Plus 110.
00:33:42Wisconsin is on one hell of a tear right now, winning eight of their last ten.
00:33:48And the two losses come with a combined, I think, of three points.
00:33:51So these guys are not losing by much when they are in this little care they're going on.
00:33:58Just to carry Illinois and OT the other night.
00:34:00Exactly.
00:34:00So both of these teams, the last team they did play, who?
00:34:03Illinois.
00:34:04So in their brains, this kind of feels like a little weird conference tourney game.
00:34:07They both get over Illinois.
00:34:08Now, who is going to be the ultimate winner?
00:34:12I think it's going to be Wisconsin at home tonight.
00:34:16They also live and die by the three ball.
00:34:18They're averaging 11 three-pointers a game.
00:34:20Michigan State's only averaging seven.
00:34:23Again, this Badgers crowd is going to be hype.
00:34:27And they're going to be electric.
00:34:29This game is going to be awesome.
00:34:31But eventually, I think we see the Badgers covering on the money line.
00:34:35Three picks this week.
00:34:36So let's get them in.
00:34:37Thanks for watching.
00:34:38And let's make some money.
00:34:40Jump around.
00:34:40Let's go, Meg.
00:34:41Great job.
00:34:42Hour 2.
00:34:43Ross Deldger kicking it off next.
00:34:46Don't go anywhere.
00:34:47Also, David can teach us basketball.
00:34:48Professor Beers back.
00:34:50Bye.
00:34:50What's happening?
00:34:59Hour 2 of Wake Up Barstool kicking off now with the Friday crew.
00:35:03And it's time to talk to one of my favorite people in the entire world.
00:35:06That is Yahoo Sports, Ross Deldger.
00:35:07A man who we've been doing this dance for years, Ross.
00:35:12And you just get bigger and bigger and bigger.
00:35:14Nobody's just plugged into college football.
00:35:17Let's talk Trinidad Chambliss.
00:35:19Yesterday, a Mississippi court rules that he is eligible to play because the NCAA did not give, according to the court, appropriate credence to his medical issues.
00:35:32Right?
00:35:33He missed all of 2022 at Ferris State with respiratory issues.
00:35:36NCAA says, oh, well, he could have gotten surgery.
00:35:38He does not have to.
00:35:39Whatever.
00:35:40Court rules he can play.
00:35:41My questions are twofold.
00:35:42Does this stick?
00:35:44Like, does the NCAA have any recourse here to try to make him ineligible?
00:35:51And, well, actually, just answer that first.
00:35:53Yeah.
00:35:54Well, kind of.
00:35:55Yeah.
00:35:56The NCAA can appeal.
00:35:57And it usually does appeal these cases.
00:36:00It hasn't announced anything about an appeal yet.
00:36:03But I would expect that it would appeal the case, and I would expect that it would lose that appeal, just like I and so many others expected that it would lose this preliminary injunction decision.
00:36:18I mean, we're talking about a state court and an Ole Miss Law grad judge having 30 minutes from Oxford, right?
00:36:26Like, all of these eligibility cases that were filed in federal court for the last year, we've seen a shift in the last few months to filed in state local court.
00:36:37So you can get sort of a local friendly judge in a friendly atmosphere, and we're seeing that pay off, D-Bob.
00:36:44Seven of the 11 players in the last year who were granted eligibility by a judge took place in state with a state judge, you know?
00:36:55And so we're going to see more of this.
00:36:56That's what I took more from these sort of hearings is that we're going to see more of this.
00:37:01It sort of opens more of the door of filing with your local friendly judge who just might be an alum of the school.
00:37:11Well, it's so funny.
00:37:12College football mirrors history in so many ways, and here we are in states' rights versus federal rights.
00:37:18I know the NCAA, they want to get federal rulings that would supersede these states' rights.
00:37:24Is there, we talked to Hakeem Jeffries not long ago on macro dosing, actually, and he was addressing this and was kind of saying that there's maybe an appetite in Congress.
00:37:35I think they've got bigger things to do with, but there was maybe an appetite in Congress to act on this.
00:37:40Do you envision a world in which we get our college football version of the Federalist Papers?
00:37:45Do we get somebody that could create a national law that would give the NCAA back its power?
00:37:52Well, you know, I live in D.C. now, and let me give you an idea, and this will answer your question, I think.
00:37:59It's been six and a half years that the NCAA has lobbied for a congressional bill.
00:38:05There have been probably around 15 to 20 bills introduced by lawmakers.
00:38:10One of them advanced past the first step of probably a 10-step process to getting a bill passed, one of them in six and a half years, and it never got to the second step, which is getting to the floor for a vote.
00:38:26So very unlikely that any time soon, in such a divided Congress, in a divisive time, that we will see the NCAA get any legislative help.
00:38:39Could it come at some point?
00:38:40Sure, like years down the road.
00:38:42But I would doubt that any time soon we'll have something.
00:38:50There is a desire, T-Bob, from lawmakers to do something, to help in some way.
00:38:56They just can't agree, Republican Democrats, big surprise, right?
00:38:59They just can't agree on how much they should help, right, and what areas they should help with.
00:39:05And the big hurdle lately has been employment, right?
00:39:10Many Republicans want an anti-employment sort of rule in a bill where athletes can't be deemed employees ever, and Democrats, many of Democrats, obviously backed by labor unions, don't want that in a bill.
00:39:27But there's a lot of other issues they don't agree on, too.
00:39:29Fair, on all counts.
00:39:31Okay, so let's just get to the bottom line for football fans.
00:39:33Is Trinidad Chambliss the starting quarterback for Ole Miss next year?
00:39:37Oh, yes.
00:39:38Okay, okay, there you go.
00:39:39There you go.
00:39:40Good for him, another year.
00:39:41We talked to Tom McShay yesterday, and he was worried that this wouldn't happen, so I think this will work out for Chambliss in the future.
00:39:47Ross, is that a Louisiana public broadcasting mug?
00:39:51It is.
00:39:51Can you hold that up?
00:39:52Look at you.
00:39:53Look at that, dude.
00:39:54Me, baby.
00:39:55Shout out.
00:39:56I used to listen to class.
00:39:57One of my favorite artists say, do the best, Ross.
00:39:59Take it easy.
00:40:00See y'all later.
00:40:01Anything you want to know about college football?
00:40:03Follow Ross.
00:40:04Read his work.
00:40:05He is a true journalist of the highest order.
00:40:08Good stat line by us on that one.
00:40:10What?
00:40:10Us three.
00:40:11We didn't say a word.
00:40:13That was a couple old French.
00:40:15Y'all put up the Tony Snell stat line.
00:40:18That was Tony Snell by us three.
00:40:19Speaking of Tony Snell.
00:40:21Yeah.
00:40:21NBA Dana.
00:40:22Woo, good stat line.
00:40:22What's going on, Professor Beers?
00:40:24How we feeling?
00:40:25There's a lot of, man.
00:40:27There's a lot of tanking going on and a lot of, they find the jazz.
00:40:33NBA sucks.
00:40:34Stop that.
00:40:35Stop.
00:40:35Don't be that guy, Mikey.
00:40:36On a sports show, Mike.
00:40:38Don't be that guy.
00:40:38I had something in my throat.
00:40:40On a sports show.
00:40:41Jeez.
00:40:42Yeah.
00:40:42There could be better products out there.
00:40:43Something in my throat.
00:40:44Oh my God.
00:40:44Okay, wait.
00:40:45So what?
00:40:45You guys are both NBA sucks people?
00:40:47No, I never said that.
00:40:48I had a toad in my throat.
00:40:50No, as a certified hater, yeah, I don't really like the NBA.
00:40:53I haven't liked it for a long time.
00:40:54But I like to listen.
00:40:56No, this, uh, the tanking is a problem.
00:40:58Unless Danny gives me a bet.
00:40:59Megan's about to end up in the F-150 Mafia.
00:41:02All the guys on Twitter with the Oakley sunglasses taking selfies from their front seat.
00:41:06It's a global game, Michael.
00:41:08It's a global game.
00:41:09Go to China.
00:41:09It's the biggest game there.
00:41:11Okay?
00:41:11So this is like all you football.
00:41:13Sorry, I don't mean to disrespect.
00:41:15I'm just kidding.
00:41:15Um, the Jazz just got fined and the Pacers just got fined for tanking.
00:41:21But it's, $100,000?
00:41:24What does that mean to the Pacers?
00:41:24That's nothing.
00:41:25So that doesn't, it's kind of lame that they're, they're fining them just that amount of money.
00:41:30But the thing is, what are you supposed to do if you're the Jazz and there's no restrictions
00:41:36on tanking really?
00:41:38They're doing what they should be doing if you are Danny Ainge and you want to get the
00:41:44best draft pick possible.
00:41:45Like, there's nothing that's coming down on them and telling them, you shouldn't be doing
00:41:49this.
00:41:49You can't be doing this.
00:41:50So, I hate it, but they're within their rights to be doing what they're doing.
00:41:55I think that Nicky Tarani had one of the more interesting tanking solutions on a Tuesday
00:42:04show.
00:42:05But he did it in the NFL perspective where you had to win a certain minimum amount of
00:42:13games to be eligible for the, uh, for the number one overall pick.
00:42:16And it wasn't like a big number.
00:42:18Yeah.
00:42:18I just...
00:42:19You know, that makes too much sense for it to actually work.
00:42:21Well, I would say, I mean, I do understand the fear that, okay, what if you just actually
00:42:25have a crap team that can't hit that number and then you stay terrible because like you
00:42:28don't get the number one pick, but in a world where we're trying to desperately...
00:42:33Because like, in the NBA, you should at least be a bit disadvised because you have the lottery.
00:42:39Right.
00:42:39Right?
00:42:39So, it's like not a guarantee like the NFL that if you lose these games, you're getting
00:42:43up there.
00:42:43And yet, still, teams are willing to take their risk with the ping pong balls falling
00:42:47their way.
00:42:47There are some major problems going on in the NBA.
00:42:50It's not just the tanking.
00:42:52It's the all-star weekend.
00:42:53It's just like the fact that the Wizards went out and got two bonafide all-stars and
00:43:00they're just not playing.
00:43:01You know, like Trey Young and Anthony Davis aren't playing.
00:43:02Yeah, like next year.
00:43:03They're like, all right, we'll play next year.
00:43:05The Jazz just traded for an all-star in Jaron Jackson Jr. and he just had knee surgery yesterday.
00:43:12Like, I'm sure that knee surgery has a little bit...
00:43:16I don't know how legitimate it is.
00:43:18He probably just is...
00:43:19It's part of the tank.
00:43:20But I don't know.
00:43:21It hurts guys like me that live and breathe the NBA when the football season's over and
00:43:27everyone turns their heads to the NBA and college basketball and it's, oh, the NBA stinks.
00:43:33It hurts me because it's a bad product right now.
00:43:36As someone who is admittedly kind of doing that NBA, not college basketball, like when
00:43:42do you think, and if there already has been, please correct me because, again, I'm not following,
00:43:46when are we going to see someone that's like so, so exciting, like how LeBron James, like
00:43:50I was in sixth grade and everyone was wearing like the LeBron James, like Lindstrom bracelets,
00:43:54like how close are we to potentially having someone really exciting?
00:43:59I think it's Cooper Flagg, honestly.
00:44:01I mean, what about Wimby?
00:44:01Is Wimby not that guy?
00:44:02Wimby, but he's not on the court.
00:44:05He's kind of on a minutes restriction.
00:44:07He could be if he was playing all the games.
00:44:09I feel like he could just like jump the wrong way and break his leg.
00:44:11Yeah, because that's how I feel too.
00:44:13He's so tall.
00:44:14If Chet Holmgren can survive, Wimby can survive.
00:44:17I mean, Chet is the thinnest rail of a guy we got.
00:44:19I think Cooper Flagg could be that guy that's like, I mean, he's on the same path currently
00:44:25stats wise that LeBron is and he's putting up 45, he's putting up 35.
00:44:31But why isn't he that exciting to everyone then?
00:44:34If you're not, if you're watching him, like constantly he is that exciting.
00:44:39I wonder if he's not in the mainstream as much as LeBron was.
00:44:42I was going to say, I wonder if it's almost just a function of the times.
00:44:45That's what I'm trying to figure out myself.
00:44:46Because this is the, we live in the age, Mikey, you know this, you've told me this a lot.
00:44:51We live in the age of the shattered monoculture.
00:44:53Where due to.
00:44:54I remember him saying that.
00:44:55Yeah, due to algorithms and entertainment options.
00:45:00We all live in our own little bubbles.
00:45:01Whereas like when LeBron was coming up, it was very much still cable television, sports
00:45:06center, sports center, everybody's watching the same thing all the time.
00:45:10And premeditated notions and such.
00:45:12Yep, yep, yep.
00:45:14Pedantic conversations.
00:45:15Yes, frantic.
00:45:16Go off, K-Dick.
00:45:17Frantic.
00:45:18I think another conversation that's been happening right now is the better product if it's college
00:45:24basketball, just in terms of entertainment value, I would say it is.
00:45:28I think this is an incredible year for college basketball so far.
00:45:32If I were to sit down and watch a game tonight, I would prefer to watch a college basketball
00:45:37game.
00:45:37I think most people would say the same thing.
00:45:40We're kind of in the, we're kind of in that spot with the NBA where it's like, you know,
00:45:45it's the dog days.
00:45:46They're playing dudes that we've never even heard of before.
00:45:49But in college hoops, it's as it gets.
00:45:52And this is where they purposely schedule all the best games knowing this is the dog time.
00:45:56Is that going to be the number one pick?
00:45:57I'm starting to feel the sweat of March.
00:46:00Yeah.
00:46:00Oh, you would hate Darren Peterson.
00:46:02Have you ever heard of Darren Peterson?
00:46:04Yeah.
00:46:04I got, I, I, so I just came to him the other day in the most recent Darren Peterson saga.
00:46:09Okay.
00:46:09You're right.
00:46:10Instinctually.
00:46:11I don't like his attitude.
00:46:12What's his, what's his vibe?
00:46:13He just, he, he'll sit out a game with cramps.
00:46:16He'll, he'll play a half.
00:46:17He's in the NBA.
00:46:18He's college right now.
00:46:19He's the number one projected pick, but he'll play a half.
00:46:23He'll put up 20 points and then he'll sit the second half.
00:46:26Cause probably go, he'll probably go put on his like Balenciaga.
00:46:31He set out the other day, Mikey.
00:46:33So they got number one, Arizona coming to town.
00:46:37Big game, massive game.
00:46:39And he sits out with the flu, even though he does it.
00:46:41He warmed up and looked pretty good.
00:46:42And it was just like, nah, man, I'm not feeling it.
00:46:45There's a whole thing with his agent and, and like, I don't know.
00:46:49I hate it.
00:46:50I hate it.
00:46:50Just let your best players play.
00:46:52Nah, I'm going to hold my tongue.
00:46:53What happened to like loving the game, Dana?
00:46:55That's what I'm saying.
00:46:55What happened to that love?
00:46:57They want to go out and play every single minute.
00:46:59Oh my God.
00:47:00He's a freshman.
00:47:01It's all these.
00:47:01I was dying to get on the field my freshman.
00:47:03Dude.
00:47:04Dying.
00:47:04If I could go back.
00:47:05I would have died.
00:47:06If I, if I could go back to 18 year old me, I'd put up 30 and 10 if I could.
00:47:11I would have died to get on the field.
00:47:12Darren Peterson aside, I do think one thing that's working in college's favor right now,
00:47:17because a lot of people will point to NIL and be like, that's what's not working right.
00:47:22But like, it is also keeping guys in college.
00:47:25So they're getting older, more experienced, better players.
00:47:30And then you combine it with just an unreal crop of freshman players this year.
00:47:34And you just got really quality college basketball being played all over the place.
00:47:38It is, it's been a great year for college basketball.
00:47:41Great, you know, a lot of great games coming up.
00:47:44And this tournament is going to be unlike, you know, any other in the last couple of years.
00:47:48Side note, I don't think anyone is named Darren anymore.
00:47:52What?
00:47:53My wife's dad is named Darren.
00:47:55Oh, really?
00:47:55My father-in-law.
00:47:56But nowadays you don't see him.
00:47:58Yeah, you don't see a lot of Darren.
00:47:59It's like, I remember Darren McFadden.
00:48:01Yeah.
00:48:02It's Darren with a Y.
00:48:03Darren Sproles.
00:48:04For real?
00:48:05Or Y-N.
00:48:05Who's he played for?
00:48:06Kansas.
00:48:07Interesting.
00:48:08Yeah.
00:48:08You're right, though.
00:48:10You don't see a lot of Darren's.
00:48:11Or you don't see a lot of Susan's, either.
00:48:12No.
00:48:13No.
00:48:14Paddy's.
00:48:14Paddy, Patricia.
00:48:16Yeah.
00:48:16Those are the most Midwest-sounding names I've ever heard.
00:48:19Not really.
00:48:20Paddy and Susan.
00:48:21Mary Beth.
00:48:22That's my mother's name.
00:48:22There's tons of those still in the South.
00:48:24And we got a lot of double names in the South.
00:48:26Double names in the South.
00:48:26Mary Beth.
00:48:27So you mentioned All-Star Weekend.
00:48:30Dunk Contest.
00:48:32Ugh.
00:48:32Yeah.
00:48:32That has taken, even I know that, that has taken any Norman style.
00:48:36I used to go to bat for Adam Silver, and I used to be like, he's a commissioner of
00:48:41the people, of the players.
00:48:43He's lost the plot, man.
00:48:45Look at this.
00:48:46Blake Griffin, bro?
00:48:47We ran out of dunks.
00:48:48Blake Griffin?
00:48:49Yeah.
00:48:49We ran out of dunks.
00:48:50I was going to say, I do kind of feel like it's not almost as much on the contest as much
00:48:54like human limits.
00:48:55Yeah.
00:48:56Like, because now, if you want the guys that can do the dunks that nobody does, they're
00:49:00not the best players.
00:49:01Like, look at this.
00:49:02Blake Griffin.
00:49:03Huh?
00:49:04Yeah, it's just...
00:49:05Like, Zach Levine, or I remember those, or Aaron Gordon when he would...
00:49:09Like, it's also tough, just the weekend in general, when the players don't want to get
00:49:14hurt, they don't want to try as hard.
00:49:16Like, what are you supposed to do when you put a team together, they're doing International
00:49:22versus USA now, it's not going to change anything.
00:49:25It's still going to be...
00:49:26I would have hoped that International versus USA would have gotten the juice back.
00:49:30I don't think it will.
00:49:31Not like Four Nations got it going for hockey.
00:49:32I don't think it will.
00:49:33I mean, I hope I'm proven wrong on Sunday, but...
00:49:36You saw KD try to add a little fuel to the fire.
00:49:38Yeah, no...
00:49:39He basically called out the International guys being like, well, look, hopefully they'll
00:49:42play hard.
00:49:42Yeah.
00:49:43I don't know.
00:49:43They probably have some weird scoring system, but the score is probably going to be 250
00:49:47to 200.
00:49:49So, if we're running out of dunks, and obviously we like seeing cool stuff, like tricks and whatnot,
00:49:53why don't we just take the Harlem Globetrotters, split them in half, and have half of people
00:49:58play with them, and half play the other team, and then they have to just do crazy stuff
00:50:03the entire game.
00:50:03Well, see, but I think that's kind of...
00:50:05I think that's almost part of the problem, though, is that it's become like...
00:50:10It's become like kind of Globetrotter basketball a little bit.
00:50:13Well, I think it's supposed to be, right?
00:50:15Instead of like a little more...
00:50:15Yeah.
00:50:16Like, it's a dunk contest.
00:50:19Yeah.
00:50:19It's a hard problem.
00:50:20It's fun.
00:50:21I know, but then the problem...
00:50:22Okay, but then you get like Mack McClung.
00:50:24Who's doing the best dunks, but who cares about Mack McClung?
00:50:26Oh, that was crazy, dude.
00:50:28I love the one where he went under both legs.
00:50:30I just hate to see my beloved league, you know, get trashed like this, but they deserve
00:50:34it.
00:50:34They're not doing anything right.
00:50:36They're not.
00:50:37And I think the season's just too long.
00:50:3982 games is too long.
00:50:40That's what I was going to suggest.
00:50:41Nick Wright had a pretty unreal take, but I don't think I can bring it on air, but a way
00:50:46to juice up the All-Star game.
00:50:48We got Smasher Pass coming up next, guys.
00:50:52Mardi Gras edition.
00:50:53That's right.
00:50:54Happy Fat Tuesday coming up.
00:50:56Show me some good stuff.
00:50:57We got the next four right here on FS1.
00:51:00Pretty cool, dude.
00:51:01Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:51:10It's time for Smasher Pass.
00:51:13Never know with you, man.
00:51:14Mardi Gras edition.
00:51:15Yeah, Mikey was just bragging on his areolas during the break.
00:51:18Never know with you.
00:51:20Show me something, mister.
00:51:22I have very female nipples, I find.
00:51:24You're doing a lot of chest hair today.
00:51:27Yeah.
00:51:27I was going to say, have you progressively gotten more unbuttoned as the show's gone on?
00:51:31No.
00:51:31No, I went one button down right before we started.
00:51:33Just a little power move.
00:51:35Let y'all know what's up.
00:51:36So it is Mardi Gras season, though.
00:51:38Parades are rolling.
00:51:40The Lane Kiffin float yesterday in the Chaos Parade was very funny.
00:51:43It was him in a sports bra with Ole Miss steak and dollar bills everywhere.
00:51:47There's going to be the big ones like Endymions on Saturday.
00:51:51Fat Tuesday's coming up.
00:51:52And so what we're going to do is smash your pass.
00:51:54You can call it Mardi Gras edition.
00:51:56You can call it Louisiana edition.
00:51:57We're going to edumacate y'all.
00:51:59You ever been to Mardi Gras?
00:52:00Nope.
00:52:01Have you, Dana?
00:52:01Y'all are missing out.
00:52:02In New Orleans?
00:52:03I did a video on it.
00:52:04A man on the street.
00:52:06The most ridiculous video I've ever put out in my life.
00:52:09So you did like the Bourbon?
00:52:10I need to show it.
00:52:11I just sent it to you guys.
00:52:12So you did like the Bourbon Street, Canal Street thing?
00:52:14Yes.
00:52:14Oh, man.
00:52:15I want to watch it.
00:52:16The most ridiculous video I've ever put out.
00:52:18It's worth doing once in that way.
00:52:22Yes.
00:52:22Never put out more than once.
00:52:23Going to see like the absolute craziness.
00:52:27And then you try to massage your way into like, okay, can I get a balcony set up with a bathroom?
00:52:34If you can ever go, if anybody ever invites you, and I know we're going to do tips at the end,
00:52:38but if anybody ever invites you to a Mardi Gras ball, say yes.
00:52:43Yeah?
00:52:43They're a lot of fun.
00:52:44We went to the endymion ball for 10 straight years, and what it is is Saturday, everybody
00:52:49dresses up in tuxes.
00:52:50Everybody wears really nice dresses.
00:52:52You go to the Superdome.
00:52:54The parade rolls through the city.
00:52:55It ends in the Superdome, and then everybody just parties their face off until 4 a.m.
00:52:59You don't see enough balls these days.
00:53:01You dress up to get down.
00:53:03You do it like I'm not.
00:53:05I feel like everybody.
00:53:06Well, I mean, the way you said that, you looked at me.
00:53:08Like a ball.
00:53:09You have balls in your hands.
00:53:10A gala.
00:53:11You have balls in your hands right now.
00:53:12You don't see enough galas.
00:53:13Brother, if you're on me long enough.
00:53:19Bubble good?
00:53:19All right, Marty, if I'm going to smash it fast, let's do it.
00:53:22All right.
00:53:23Show it to us.
00:53:24Feed me.
00:53:25Oh, smash.
00:53:26I ate a humongous piece last night and this morning.
00:53:29Is there a picture of these?
00:53:29In a picture?
00:53:31Oh, man.
00:53:31Oh, wow.
00:53:32All it is is basically like a big cinnamon roll with icing, and there's a baby inside.
00:53:35I'm not going to lie.
00:53:37This picture would not be my favorite king cake.
00:53:39No, this is a terrible king cake.
00:53:40That's way too much bread, not enough frosty.
00:53:43It looks like a bagel.
00:53:43Yeah, that's a bad king cake.
00:53:44Is there always a little baby on there?
00:53:45What's that baby doing?
00:53:46So the baby hides in the king cake, and the tradition is if you get the baby in your piece,
00:53:51then you have to buy the next king cake.
00:53:52What if you eat it?
00:53:53Then you're eating too fast.
00:53:54Yeah, you don't swallow it.
00:53:55You tend to find it.
00:53:57Yeah.
00:53:57Back in the day, you used to buy it with it hidden in there, but because like people are litigious.
00:54:02You have to put them in yourself.
00:54:03Yeah, now you've got to put it in yourself.
00:54:05I'm going to choke on that thing in a second.
00:54:06Yeah, but do you know how, I mean the excitement of being a little kid and getting the baby.
00:54:12Oh, that's so fun.
00:54:13Is it a plastic baby?
00:54:13Yeah.
00:54:13Yeah, it's a little plastic baby.
00:54:15Babies?
00:54:15No, I never had it.
00:54:17Guys, I was up at 1.30 this morning in a dark kitchen just grabbing king cake with my hand.
00:54:25Just putting it into my mouth.
00:54:27So that's the other thing is that generally you'll always have a king cake during this
00:54:30part of the year sitting in there and the knife stays in the box.
00:54:33The entire time.
00:54:34Until every time you walk by, you just slice a little bit.
00:54:37Maybe get a little shot at me.
00:54:38But I would.
00:54:39I'd smash it.
00:54:40Yeah, sounds good.
00:54:40Yeah, the line around Dunk Fuzz today is unreal.
00:54:43Yeah, my best friend sent me a picture.
00:54:45She's like the 87th person in line and she got there at like 7 a.m.
00:54:50Smash, by the way.
00:54:51Obviously.
00:54:51So smash.
00:54:51Not this cake, but smash king cake.
00:54:53Smash, smash, beignets.
00:54:54Smash.
00:54:55I mean, come on, guys.
00:54:56Got them.
00:54:56Never had them.
00:54:57Loved them.
00:54:58I feel like they're a little overrated, but I'd still smash them.
00:55:00They are overrated.
00:55:01I do agree with that.
00:55:02No, it's just puffy pastry with powdered sugar.
00:55:05It's like a slightly better funnel cake.
00:55:07Yeah.
00:55:07But like, who doesn't love funnel cake?
00:55:09Yeah.
00:55:09It's just fried dough.
00:55:11That's the F one right there.
00:55:12I had it in New Orleans.
00:55:14What's your bowl last year?
00:55:15Cafe du Monde.
00:55:16Benignet.
00:55:16Another thing that's worth doing at least once.
00:55:18Going to a cafe.
00:55:19But, you know, I wouldn't wait like two hours in line.
00:55:22No, absolutely not.
00:55:23Just go to the airport.
00:55:25Yeah, but smash.
00:55:25Smash.
00:55:26Obviously.
00:55:26It's fried dough, guys.
00:55:27Come on.
00:55:28Okay, so I've heard about this.
00:55:30This is, correct me on the pronunciation wrong, this is poochki?
00:55:33Poochki?
00:55:34Poochki.
00:55:34Poochki.
00:55:35Wow.
00:55:35I read this and I've never had this.
00:55:37If this is a Louisiana thing?
00:55:38No, so Polish Catholics have their own celebration of sin before Ash Wednesday, and it's also
00:55:48on Tuesday, and they eat poochki.
00:55:50All right, I'm passing.
00:55:51I don't like jelly-filled anything, really.
00:55:52Oh, smash.
00:55:53You don't like jelly doughnuts?
00:55:54No.
00:55:55You see the thing on the bottom of the egg?
00:55:55What?
00:55:57Yeah, what is that?
00:55:57It's too much.
00:55:58What do you know what that is?
00:55:59What is that accent called on the bottom of the egg?
00:56:00Yeah, what is that?
00:56:02Oh, that's a squiggle.
00:56:06Production, any help?
00:56:07What is that accent called?
00:56:08How does that word say poochki?
00:56:11That says pa-k-k-ki.
00:56:12You just got to trust Polish spelling.
00:56:14Etouffee.
00:56:14By the way, I'll smash on this.
00:56:16Yeah, smash etouffee.
00:56:18Ooh!
00:56:19Crawfish etouffee, and then if you get some shrimp and black in them, it's like a roux.
00:56:24It's like a blonde roux with a little bit of stock.
00:56:27You make it very, very similar to gumbo, actually.
00:56:31I just made etouffee last week.
00:56:33It's so good, guys.
00:56:33I'm so hungry.
00:56:34All it is is sticking my face in.
00:56:36Okay.
00:56:36It's so hardy.
00:56:39I'm sticking my face in that.
00:56:40And being from Lafayette, this is like the staple dish.
00:56:43Crawfish and rice?
00:56:44Yeah, I mean, it's easy.
00:56:45Like Megan said, it's butter flour, pea roux.
00:56:49You got the Holy Trinity in there that you cook down in the roux.
00:56:51Soften up the veggies.
00:56:52Holy Trinity is, I don't know, onions?
00:56:55Yep.
00:56:56Green pepper?
00:56:57Bell peppers.
00:56:57Bell peppers.
00:57:00And...
00:57:01Green onion?
00:57:02No.
00:57:02Celery.
00:57:03Celery?
00:57:04Green onion's always the finisher.
00:57:05I was between green onion and celery.
00:57:07Green onion's always the finisher.
00:57:09But like Megan said, you don't black and shrimp, maybe black and redfish on top of that.
00:57:12Oh, yeah.
00:57:12Oh, my God.
00:57:13Or a fried piece of redfish, too.
00:57:15Wow, yeah.
00:57:15Yeah, I'm smashing.
00:57:16I love that.
00:57:16Smash.
00:57:17What was it called again, guys?
00:57:19The little squiggle on the egg?
00:57:20An oganek.
00:57:21Oganek?
00:57:22Oganek, yeah.
00:57:23What?
00:57:24Yeah.
00:57:25All right, what do we got?
00:57:26Mufalada.
00:57:26Ooh.
00:57:27I like them, but I'm going to pass only because I see them on menus, and I'm like, I don't
00:57:32really want them.
00:57:33That looks like cold cuts, dude.
00:57:34It's too much.
00:57:34I love it.
00:57:35You could not have nailed it more, Megan.
00:57:38I'm with you.
00:57:38I don't order Mufaladas because I'm not the biggest olive guy.
00:57:41I just want to bite.
00:57:41I love olives.
00:57:43But you two love olives.
00:57:44Do you know what this tastes like, Dan?
00:57:45Have you had this?
00:57:45Yes.
00:57:46I had one in New Orleans last year.
00:57:46I've never had it.
00:57:47What's the red?
00:57:48Bell pepper?
00:57:49Onion?
00:57:49Onion and olives?
00:57:51It's like an olive spread.
00:57:54I've weirdly been to New Orleans like seven times.
00:57:57Look at that.
00:57:58Wow.
00:57:58Yeah, where are you at, Mikey?
00:57:59Never been.
00:58:00Get your travel up.
00:58:01Well, yeah, bro.
00:58:01I know.
00:58:02I don't travel at all.
00:58:03Wait, how about this?
00:58:04Dana, how many olives did you get in the most recent martini you had?
00:58:09I asked for seven.
00:58:11Seven in a single martini, Dana?
00:58:14Seven olives.
00:58:15I always used to love when my mom and dad would give me their olives at restaurants from their
00:58:19martinis.
00:58:20Olives are so good.
00:58:21The blue cheese olives.
00:58:22Blue cheese olives, dude.
00:58:23So good.
00:58:24I don't like olives that much.
00:58:25Last night I had a little piece of fresh motts with the olives.
00:58:28Oh, smash.
00:58:29Yeah, smash.
00:58:30Smash.
00:58:30This scares me.
00:58:30I'm going to be honest.
00:58:32Only problem is.
00:58:33Dana tries?
00:58:34I've never done it and I'm scared to.
00:58:36Don't be scared to be delicious.
00:58:36Dana, we got to get you some crawfish, bro.
00:58:39Really?
00:58:40When we did the crawfish.
00:58:42But that's a, hey, hold on.
00:58:43Time.
00:58:44You didn't have it the right way.
00:58:45One, they're illegal to have live here, so they have to be flat.
00:58:49Last frozen.
00:58:49Yeah.
00:58:50That makes a humongous difference.
00:58:52And two, we were cooking them with like the snow crab and shrimp, so you don't want as
00:58:57much seasoning with those things as you want in the crawfish.
00:59:00I'm smashing, but it's just, it's not enough meat for the work.
00:59:04Well, no, but that's the thing, though.
00:59:06Crawfish boils are as social as they are.
00:59:10Fair.
00:59:11Like, it's not that you're getting big bites, but you eat for a long time.
00:59:17You just sit there and eat all the panicles.
00:59:19I have one more point that's very important.
00:59:21Yeah.
00:59:21Coming from Louisiana, there's two types of crawfish.
00:59:24You have like your New Orleans style, and then you have your Lafayette style.
00:59:27Oh, Dustin.
00:59:28New Orleans reigns supreme.
00:59:30Don't come at me.
00:59:31I want my crawfish soaked in the seasoning, not sprinkled on top and shooken around in an
00:59:36igloo.
00:59:37No, thank you.
00:59:37Dusting is fine as well.
00:59:39No, it ain't.
00:59:39Okay, guys.
00:59:40Dusting is fine.
00:59:40Don't be crazy about that.
00:59:41Give me some crab legs.
00:59:43I want them spicy, and I want sausage, and Brussels sprouts, and artichokes, and potatoes,
00:59:49and corn.
00:59:50Crab legs will do for me.
00:59:51All right.
00:59:51Garlic.
00:59:52Coming up next, we've got Brock Hewer joining the show to celebrate the Seattle Seahawks
00:59:56big dub.
00:59:58What does Brock think about Tim Darnold?
01:00:00Tim Darnold.
01:00:01What's happening, y'all?
01:00:08Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
01:00:11If anybody's going to Mardi Gras this weekend, have a bathroom plan ready.
01:00:16Bathroom plan, and if you see Devin Snow, tell him I say hello.
01:00:20Yeah, shout out our guy Devin Snow.
01:00:22Hold the mayo.
01:00:23Legend of the game.
01:00:25Our B&R aficionado.
01:00:26He just, so every Monday, our guy Devin Snow down there in New Orleans has eaten, he's
01:00:30reviewed and eaten red beans and rice every single Monday for 300 straight Mondays, and
01:00:36he just retired the series.
01:00:38It's one of the most legendary internet series out there.
01:00:40Shout out, Devin.
01:00:41Love you, brother.
01:00:42Big time.
01:00:43Consistency, excellency, he's the best.
01:00:45He woke up with a doubloon in his shoe.
01:00:47Speaking of consistency, that's literal.
01:00:50Speaking of consistency and excellence, that was the Seattle Seahawks.
01:00:54A team that, regardless of if you want to tell me it's a down year in the NFL, it's just
01:00:59that they were the best team in the NFL the entire year, okay?
01:01:03And that is rare when you're talking about teams that finish the fight.
01:01:07They finish the fight.
01:01:08Brock Huard told you they were going to finish the fight.
01:01:10He's the coach to Brock.
01:01:12It's all.
01:01:12He's an NFL legend, and it's all right.
01:01:13He's a good friend of the show.
01:01:15Brock, what's up, baby?
01:01:16Thank you so much.
01:01:17Congrats, man.
01:01:18How we feeling?
01:01:20We're feeling pretty good, T-Bob.
01:01:21I just want to know, as Dave Portnoy apologized to you, are you now a human being allowed
01:01:27to have an opinion about this defense right here that absolutely smashed the ever-loving
01:01:34life out of Drake May, your buddy Will Campbell, the rest of New England, Joshy boy McDaniels,
01:01:40his 10 Super Bowls.
01:01:42Looks like he was coaching his first.
01:01:44I mean, has he apologized in any way?
01:01:48No, no.
01:01:49In fact, I think on Monday's show, he still called me an idiot.
01:01:53Nice.
01:01:53He did a lot of man-in-the-arena talk.
01:01:56You know, here he is, bleeding out, and look, Dave's the master of the spin zone, Brock.
01:02:02You cannot be.
01:02:03Oh, yeah.
01:02:03I mean, he's out here saying that the Patriots beat the Seahawks 46 times, and they played
01:02:07100.
01:02:08It's crazy.
01:02:09Yeah.
01:02:09It's crazy.
01:02:10The Seahawks were so clearly the better team.
01:02:13Yeah, the decimal point was wrong there.
01:02:16I think they might get four points fixed out of us.
01:02:19Yeah, exactly.
01:02:20Honestly, like watching that game and seeing it in person and seeing the guys and listening.
01:02:25And Monday, we spent a good half hour on the air with Coach McDonald, as we do every Monday.
01:02:30And then, because there was no game, and that guy is such a process-oriented guy, without
01:02:35a game, he gave us like another half hour off the air.
01:02:37Oh, let's go.
01:02:38Which might have been, in some ways, even better than the on-the-air stuff, when you
01:02:43hear, yeah, man, the behind-the-scenes and what went into it, and why the guys were so
01:02:47confident.
01:02:48I think that's what jumped out to me.
01:02:50And someone tweeted me this, like, the first four minutes of the mic'd-up NFL films, you
01:02:55really could see the difference in the mindset.
01:02:57New England was like, how's the money?
01:03:00We're here.
01:03:00Hey, Drake, smile.
01:03:01Just enjoy this.
01:03:02Just take it in.
01:03:03I'm like, we're at the Super Bowl.
01:03:05And the Seahawks were like, man, we're the freaking house.
01:03:08And we're about to take their soul.
01:03:10You know, we're about to take their money, because we know, like, we got them.
01:03:14We know their scheme.
01:03:15We know their protections.
01:03:17We know their fronts.
01:03:18You know, there's really, other than Christian Gonzalez and at times Milton Williams, there's
01:03:23really not a matchup on the field.
01:03:24We're not better than our special teams.
01:03:26One of the best performances in Super Bowl history in that phase of it.
01:03:31So just dominant in every way.
01:03:32They play a hundred times.
01:03:33Honestly, I think maybe New England could win five of them.
01:03:36Well, and there's a million questions I want to ask you, but now that you've teased me
01:03:39into this McDonald bit, I have to go there, because I love Mike McDonald.
01:03:42I mean, the cat's only 38 years old.
01:03:44He is existing on the cutting edge of NFL theory.
01:03:48He now has this excellent personnel group that he can really get creative with.
01:03:54What is the best anecdote that you got from him that you're comfortable with sharing
01:03:59about this team and what he said to y'all on Monday?
01:04:03Yeah, I think probably the biggest thing was his years up in the Northeast playing against
01:04:08New England and Tarum and knowing that system and how iron sharpened iron between Harbaugh
01:04:14and Belichick in those years.
01:04:15And certainly the Patriots had their way.
01:04:17And now you're getting to kind of play the JV young Patriots team, right?
01:04:21It's not Tom Brady and all the things that he can do and all the things that he can manipulate.
01:04:26It is a really young player.
01:04:28That's like in chapter one of that offense with Josh and Josh is really good.
01:04:32You know, I took a shot at him earlier with all of his experience.
01:04:35He's really, really good.
01:04:36And they will be in time better with more time on task in that system.
01:04:40But I think for Mike, it was like, oh my gosh, you know, I don't have to face Tom Brady.
01:04:44I don't have to face the guy in this system, right?
01:04:47That is so good mentally.
01:04:48You even saw, I don't know if you saw the clip of Julian Love and Kobe Bryant, two safeties.
01:04:52And there's a great clip of them mic'd up.
01:04:54But it also speaks to this of like, hey, man, where Drake's eyes are and where his feet are is where he's going.
01:05:00This isn't no Matthew Stafford that's no looking us, throwing blind, that's manipulating us.
01:05:05Like he had real tells with his feet, real tells with his shoulders, real tells with his eyes.
01:05:11And Mike McDonald is a master, man.
01:05:13He's a wizard.
01:05:14He's the Sean McVay of the defensive side in the NFL.
01:05:17He is.
01:05:18And I hope he never stops calling plays.
01:05:20He's the first to ever do it.
01:05:21Win a Super Bowl as a defensive coordinator calling plays.
01:05:24I think he's the best in the world at doing it.
01:05:26The guys trust him and believe him a ton.
01:05:29And hopefully that doesn't change anytime soon in Seattle.
01:05:32Brock, you were talking about the mic'd up earlier.
01:05:34And I was saying earlier, the first play of the game when Gray Zabel said, I'm going to, I'm willing to die today.
01:05:40Oh, I'm willing to die.
01:05:41Like that fires me up.
01:05:43And I think that kind of just shows like that, that Seahawks O-line was up to the challenge.
01:05:50Patriots O-line just wasn't.
01:05:52I mean, that just shows you the, the level of confidence that that offense line, that unit had in that whole team.
01:05:59I mean, I was, I, I, I'm, I'm good.
01:06:01I'm buddies with Gray Zabel, but that fired me up, man.
01:06:05Oh my gosh.
01:06:06I don't know what was better than that or his tweet after the game when he said, it's going to be a bad night to be a Bush Light.
01:06:12I loved it.
01:06:15Going straight to Bush Light?
01:06:17Oh, wow.
01:06:18Hell yeah.
01:06:18Don't forget where you came from, Gray.
01:06:20He had like six beers in his locker post game.
01:06:23He's ready to go.
01:06:25Yeah.
01:06:25You know what else, T-Bob, you said earlier, like the, the people or the perception that the NFL is down here or whatever.
01:06:31I think what it was, was the two best teams were the Rams and the Seahawks.
01:06:35Yeah.
01:06:36And what they didn't have was what a lot of other teams had.
01:06:39And especially in the AFC with the injuries was, Ooh, that's a real weakness.
01:06:44That, that new England O-line this year was a real rookie, rookie old, right?
01:06:49Like that's old center, older, right tackle.
01:06:51Like that group is just like some of the Seahawks O-lines in the past that unfortunately just undercut a lot of the other strengths of the team.
01:06:58The Seahawks or Rams just did not have that grouping.
01:07:01Tight ends, receivers, running backs, quarterback, O-line, D-line, linebackers, nickelback, secondary, special teams.
01:07:07Like they're just, yeah, the right guard's not a great player.
01:07:10And, you know, maybe there's a, you know, a little bit of a liability, but it wasn't a total weakness.
01:07:16And the Rams and the Seahawks were those two teams that, you know, whose flaws were the least amount of flaws, if that makes sense.
01:07:23And, and that's why the NFC title game in many ways, if that was the Superbowl, people wouldn't have left that Superbowl going, ah, NFL's a little down.
01:07:31They would have left that Superbowl going, oh my gosh, Stafford's a wizard.
01:07:35Darnold stepped up, speed everywhere, playmakers galore.
01:07:39It's just a little different with where New England is and they're built.
01:07:42So Brock, I'm a Patriots fan and I was sitting in a suite full of Patriots fans.
01:07:46And just throughout the game, there was never really a point where we felt like we were in it.
01:07:52And there was that little time in the, in the third quarter where it's like, okay, maybe after the score, there's a chance here.
01:08:00But what was it about that defense that kind of made it so impossible to even have a feeling of any type of comeback?
01:08:07Yeah, I think the thing there is out of 20 games this year, right?
01:08:11Seattle was 17 and three and out of 20 games, 17 of them, the quarterbacks walked away and went, I never want to play those guys again.
01:08:19I think I even said that to you guys on this show, leading up to the game of just, I mean, it's a, it's a miserable other than Matt Stafford,
01:08:27the last two times and Baker Mayfield early in the year where there was not Demarcus Lawrence and Derek Hall,
01:08:33they were both out other and Nikki memory was out.
01:08:36So when they had their cast of characters, every other quarterback, every other one of them, Bryce Young, Brock Purdy, go through it.
01:08:42We're like, I don't want to, that was hell.
01:08:45I mean, that was just no fun.
01:08:47My head is spinning.
01:08:48My eyes are screwed up.
01:08:50They're, they're false key in me.
01:08:51It's supposed to be man.
01:08:52They turn it into his own.
01:08:53Here comes E-man worry.
01:08:55Here comes spoon.
01:08:56Here comes for suffocating the air and life out of the pocket.
01:08:59Like it's no fun.
01:09:01You know, we had a couple of guys on our show every week, which is really cool during football.
01:09:05Joe Klatt, Daniel Jeremiah, both old quarterbacks at Appalachian state and Colorado back in the day.
01:09:11And, you know, we all talk about like, man, and I've been in this spot where you play a game at Nebraska, my last year, and the game is so fast.
01:09:18And I'm like, can the freaking game slow down?
01:09:21Can something just slow?
01:09:22Like it is, things are a blur, you know?
01:09:25And I am sure, yeah.
01:09:27And I'm sure for Drake, if you actually remember, if you're a Patriots fan, you remember, because Damon, my older brother, was on the team in their first Super Bowl run.
01:09:34You remember when they went to Pittsburgh in the AFC championship game?
01:09:37And Tom got knocked out with an ankle injury.
01:09:40And they, that, the documentary on that season and Tom's documentary, and he was like, I'm, I'm like, it's Star Wars out here.
01:09:46And there's lasers flying at me.
01:09:47And I don't know, I'm, this is too fast for me.
01:09:50And Drew had to come in because he had so much experience.
01:09:53And kind of settle, yeah, settle it down.
01:09:55He made a couple throws, a couple touchdowns.
01:09:57It's all they needed.
01:09:58And that's kind of what Drake's playoffs were.
01:10:01The game just kind of sped up on him.
01:10:02He wasn't healthy, wasn't a lot of fun, and the Seahawks are not a lot of fun to play against.
01:10:07Let me tell you, that, that suite was just, there was maybe two or three times where we actually were like, oh, okay, we have a chance here.
01:10:15But for the good amount of time, it was just like, this is a beatdown.
01:10:21We don't, we, it's just, there's no chance that they're even going to be in this game.
01:10:25Yeah, and then you get a little bit of life, and then Dixon pins you back in the four.
01:10:28It's like, okay, never mind, we're good.
01:10:30I would say, but we can't complain.
01:10:31We've had a, we've had a good run.
01:10:32Meg?
01:10:33Brock, speaking of, you said, you know, slowing things down.
01:10:36Obviously, congratulations on the win.
01:10:38I don't, you know, speed up this championship year you're about to have.
01:10:42But, as a fan, and as someone that knows football, what do you think the chances could be of your team going back to back?
01:10:50Yeah, I mean, it's so hard, right?
01:10:52And just thinking about this, and this is one of the other things, talking to Mike off the air, of, that was a 20-game season.
01:10:58Gray's able to play the half in both preseason games.
01:11:01So, for him, it was almost a 22-game season.
01:11:05Yeah.
01:11:05That's two college seasons, and that's against, like, the grownest of grown men.
01:11:11They were able to stay pretty healthy over the course of the year.
01:11:14They had bumps and bruises.
01:11:15But that's the hard part, is going through, you know, July to mid-February now.
01:11:20And how do you work this offseason?
01:11:23They got a lot of people back.
01:11:24I mean, their core is back.
01:11:27I think getting Demarcus Lawrence, who's going to come back, and Cooper Cup, who's going to come back.
01:11:30They have guarantees in their contract today, so today's kind of a big day, where if they're on the roster without them, you know, renegotiate, they're going to be Seahawks next year.
01:11:40So, I don't know why they can't.
01:11:43The division is still going to be the best in football.
01:11:45The Niners aren't going anywhere and getting people back.
01:11:48The Rams got everybody coming back, largely the Seahawks.
01:11:51So, iron will sharpen iron in that division once again.
01:11:55But they're really in the reason.
01:11:56Like, this isn't the Seahawks, you know, we're in 15, 16, man, we're coming off the worst loss in Super Bowl history.
01:12:03Guys are getting a little bit older.
01:12:05Guys have all gotten paid.
01:12:06Guys all want this slice of the credit.
01:12:09They're still in a pretty good little window and cycle here that I think will be very relevant the next few years.
01:12:13Well, and you mentioned, Brock, that maybe a difference to those old Legion of Boom teams, kind of the closeness of this team.
01:12:19I thought you could definitely feel that and the mic'd up footage really just in the play on the field.
01:12:23But you mentioned coming off of that Super Bowl loss.
01:12:27And I know there were no shared players between the rosters.
01:12:32But from the fans' perspective, there are thousands upon thousands, hundreds of thousands of fans who went through that, suffered at the hands of the Patriots.
01:12:42During that parade, could you feel healing?
01:12:45Like, for the fans of the Seahawks, did this feel like kind of maybe erasing some of that pain of the past?
01:12:52Yeah, I think so, because Josh McDaniels, right, and Mike Rabel and Robert Kraft and just, you know, the brand that is the Patriots and all of the Super Bowls that they have been to and not just that one against Seattle.
01:13:06So, yeah, I think there was certainly some pride in that.
01:13:09But you're right, T-Bob.
01:13:10Like, this group, actually, there's a guy named Michael Gervais.
01:13:13He's a great author.
01:13:14He's a sports psychologist.
01:13:16Pete Carroll hired him the first time around with his group back in the day because he knew, I need a little help to try to corral these guys.
01:13:23This is a pack of wild hyenas, man.
01:13:26The Earls, the KMs, the Richards.
01:13:29You know, and Gervais even has said that before.
01:13:31Like, that group was like a pack of hyenas, man, blood, fur, spit, crazy, I mean, just loud, noisy.
01:13:38And then this crew is really, really close.
01:13:41But he kind of compared, it's like a pack of eagles, man, that just soar together, fly together, really care for one another.
01:13:47And you heard the word love.
01:13:49I heard the word love more on Media Row, around this team, around these guys, around everybody in the organization.
01:13:56They're like, unafraid to say it, unapologetic, like, I love you, bro.
01:13:59Like, I love you.
01:14:00Coaches to players, players to players, coaches to staff, like, a true, genuine, like, man, I love you.
01:14:06And I think that love kind of may be even more powerful than the memory of 12 years ago.
01:14:11I love you guys.
01:14:11I was just about to say, hey, we love you, Brock.
01:14:14We love you, too, Brock.
01:14:14I love you guys.
01:14:15You, too, Carson.
01:14:17No, not Carson.
01:14:18Stop.
01:14:18Stop.
01:14:19We've got to draw a line somewhere, okay?
01:14:20Hey, Brock, my former teammate, A.J.
01:14:23Barner, comes up with a big touchdown in that game.
01:14:27How excited are you for his future as a Seahawk?
01:14:30I mean, I just, I love the guy, and he looked like he was enjoying his postgame celly, too.
01:14:36You think so?
01:14:37You think he had a little fun at that parade?
01:14:39The fur coat, the cowboy hat, the coat came off.
01:14:44Maybe the shirt came off.
01:14:46Yeah.
01:14:46The pants and was strong.
01:14:48Yeah, I think, again, this has been fun joining you guys.
01:14:50It's kind of telling the Seahawks story because I would say one of my big takeaways, and I
01:14:55know my radio partner's takeaway at Media Row was, good Lord, man, the country doesn't
01:15:00know the Seahawks.
01:15:01Yeah, yeah.
01:15:01Like, you walk around, and even the national shows and whatever, like, hey, man, can you
01:15:06name five Seahawks?
01:15:07Yeah.
01:15:08Do you know who Leonard Williams is, right?
01:15:10Like, do you know, and certainly they don't know A.J.
01:15:12Barner, not until maybe this Super Bowl, some start to get to know him, but out in
01:15:17Seattle and on that team, he was of these rookies, and there have been a lot of great
01:15:22rookies, and they win this thing because of E-Man Worry and Cross and Spoon and these
01:15:26young players they drafted that are all in their first contracts.
01:15:30A.J.
01:15:30Barner, just year two.
01:15:31I would say this to you, like, of all the guys that have come in, A.J.
01:15:35was probably the biggest pleasant surprise.
01:15:38Fourth round pick.
01:15:39They thought he was going to be a good player.
01:15:40They had no idea he was a dog.
01:15:42No idea that he was going to walk in and take Noah Fant's job and say, sorry, Noah,
01:15:48you're a good athlete.
01:15:49You were a first round pick.
01:15:50You made a lot of money, but I'm hungry, and I want your job, and I'm going to come
01:15:54in and take it.
01:15:56And he blew the people away there.
01:15:58He really is kind of one of the vocal leaders, one of the voices that is unafraid.
01:16:03And my favorite anecdote, T.
01:16:05Bob, you asked about a McDonald anecdote.
01:16:07I gave you an average one.
01:16:08My favorite anecdote, a media row, and something that the pool media member said about the
01:16:15Seahawks, and I verify with Mike, was on Wednesday, they went full pads early.
01:16:20And he wanted to sharpen them.
01:16:23Like, he wanted, like, hey, we need to go in pads.
01:16:25And about halfway through, they were set to take the pads off.
01:16:28And A.J.
01:16:28Barner was like, leave them on.
01:16:31Oh, yes!
01:16:32Wow!
01:16:33That fires me up.
01:16:35Yes.
01:16:35Like, right then and there.
01:16:37Like, again, goosebumps.
01:16:38And I was like, they want the heart.
01:16:40They want to sharpen each other.
01:16:42They want, now, ultimately, Mike's like, A.J., we're taking the pads off.
01:16:46I'm not losing anybody at practice.
01:16:48But that was the mindset, like, uh-uh.
01:16:50Uh-uh, man.
01:16:51We are here.
01:16:52We're going to take this thing.
01:16:53We're not just happy to be here.
01:16:55We're going to go win this thing.
01:16:56We're going to go abuse them.
01:16:58And physically, obviously, they certainly got after him.
01:17:00Wow.
01:17:01Oh, man.
01:17:01The bigs run.
01:17:02The littles hit.
01:17:04Violence.
01:17:05Brotherhood.
01:17:05The barn show, baby.
01:17:06Love.
01:17:06I mean, what a team.
01:17:08One of the best we've ever seen, in my opinion.
01:17:10Seattle Seahawks.
01:17:11Brock, thank you so much for joining us throughout this year.
01:17:13Thank you, Brock.
01:17:13Congratulations, man.
01:17:14Telling your story.
01:17:16Brock and Salki, check him out.
01:17:18Brock, thank you so much, man.
01:17:19Congrats again.
01:17:21You got it.
01:17:21Appreciate you all.
01:17:22Yes, sir.
01:17:23Brock, you're a legend.
01:17:24Again, yeah, I think he's right.
01:17:27The Seahawks team, I enjoyed getting to really know them over the two weeks in the run-up
01:17:32to the Super Bowl, but I think we're going to get to know them pretty well over the next
01:17:35few years.
01:17:36I agree.
01:17:36I don't think they're going anywhere.
01:17:38All right.
01:17:38Coming up next, we got Ask Wub.
01:17:40Hashtag Ask Wub on Twitter.
01:17:42Get your questions in.
01:17:43We got our skill and special parlay as well.
01:17:46We never win that.
01:17:48But I've got to pick.
01:17:49We won it once.
01:17:50I've got to pick.
01:17:50We've got one in it.
01:17:51I've got to pick.
01:17:51It's going to blow you all away today, guys.
01:17:54The Great American Race returns with back-to-back champion William Byron looking for an historic
01:18:02three-peat.
01:18:03It doesn't get better than this, folks.
01:18:05It's the 68th running of the Daytona 500, Sunday at 2.30 Eastern, with pre-race coverage
01:18:12starting at 12.30, only on 5.
01:18:15Yeah!
01:18:16Come on now, boy.
01:18:17I want to go to Daytona.
01:18:18I would love to go to Daytona.
01:18:20Yeah, Spider, when I first got hired here, Spider was like, oh, dude, we've got to go
01:18:25to Daytona 500.
01:18:27Daytona 500 rolls around, not taking you, bro.
01:18:29I'm like, all right.
01:18:30So we just watched part of Dana's insane Mardi Gras video.
01:18:35And to my understanding, the only thing that comes close to that are live big NASCAR races.
01:18:40Well, again, we already shouted out Devin, but he had that video that had 500 million views
01:18:46of the girl on the pole in the middle of Talladega.
01:18:49Yeah, the Talladega race is absolutely insane.
01:18:51All right, let's get to our skilled special parlay that we've got to ask Wobb.
01:18:54What do we got?
01:18:55Skilled special guys, let's go down our picks.
01:18:57Boom.
01:18:58Megan, back to the Ivy League.
01:19:00Yep.
01:19:00I'm going to go Cornell.
01:19:01I think it's at three and a half.
01:19:03They just have a high-powered offense.
01:19:04Again, I'm kind of hoping that they cover for me, but not too much, because I don't
01:19:09want them to blow that under that I took and gave out.
01:19:12Dana.
01:19:13Let's just root for some points in the MAAC.
01:19:16Always fun.
01:19:17Points, points, points.
01:19:18It's high, but they score, so let's do it.
01:19:20I was looking for my boys, shout out Adam Howard, the Rio Grande Valley, you know, the
01:19:25Ricos.
01:19:26Yes, yes.
01:19:27Looking for them, couldn't find them, so I settled with Michigan State minus two.
01:19:31Look at that, Megan.
01:19:31Mikey doesn't believe in your Wisconsin money line pick, dude.
01:19:34Well, he can take that up.
01:19:35Big cat when he gets back.
01:19:37All right.
01:19:38See, now, y'all are all like basketball, basketball.
01:19:41I'm like, what about Olympic hockey?
01:19:44So did Liam give you this pick?
01:19:45What about French Olympic hockey?
01:19:48France, plus three and a half against the Czech.
01:19:51Why not?
01:19:52Why not?
01:19:53That's, yeah, I don't know what the hell.
01:19:54Yeah, this probably will not hit.
01:19:57I have no idea.
01:19:58We do not play the hockey too much here.
01:19:59I was a betting man.
01:20:01But I suppose the Olympics are going to play as hard as they can.
01:20:03I'm the greatest NBA gambler on this show ever, but there's no games tonight, so sorry.
01:20:10Can't give you one tonight.
01:20:11So there it is.
01:20:12Hopefully we hit it.
01:20:12Probably won't.
01:20:13Let's get to Ask What.
01:20:14Let's get to some Ask What questions here.
01:20:16What do we got, guys?
01:20:17Hashtag Ask What.
01:20:17We ask you every single day.
01:20:18We answer, our guy Poster says, if you had a sandwich named after you, what would the ingredients be?
01:20:25Oh man, so much.
01:20:27Chicken cutlet, mozzarella, prosciutto, red peppers.
01:20:32Oof.
01:20:33I have one, but it's specifically the summertime.
01:20:35What is it?
01:20:36It's, you take like a, I think it's like a little, ciabatta, you toast it, you get cream cheese, chives, and something else, I think garlic, and then you mix it in the cream cheese, turkey, onion, cucumber, and it's like the best, freshest sandwich in the summertime, and I do them every time I go to a pool.
01:20:56Are you thinking about food?
01:20:56Food, food, food, food, food.
01:20:57Elite combination.
01:20:58Every single lunch meat known to man.
01:21:02Bologna?
01:21:02With every single cheese.
01:21:03Decatur Club.
01:21:04Every single cheese known to man with mayo, vinegar, all that, like oil, and then Doritos.
01:21:13Yeah, yeah.
01:21:14So much Doritos.
01:21:15And that's after you get out of the pool.
01:21:17On the sandwich?
01:21:18After you have like 15 beers, you're in the pool.
01:21:20Oh, that's the best.
01:21:20You get out of the pool, and it's just, it's like this big, and you're just.
01:21:24That time when you get out of the pool, and you're still sunburned, and like you're a little drunk, waiting to go to dinner.
01:21:29Oh, that's the best time ever.
01:21:29Oh, that's my favorite time ever.
01:21:31We were talking about that, we were talking about that yesterday, that sun-kissed feeling.
01:21:34Oh, it's the best.
01:21:36Your hair's wavy from the ocean.
01:21:38And you're like buzzed, but you're getting in the shower, you have like, you're burnt a little bit, but the water's hitting it, hurting a little bit.
01:21:43But it feels so good, but it feels good.
01:21:43And then you like, you're getting ready to go to dinner, you put on a nice floor.
01:21:45I need summertime.
01:21:46Taco Mark.
01:21:47Woo!
01:21:47Lots of Sam Darnold.
01:21:48Sam Darnold.
01:21:49But who could be the next Drake Manning of next season, the sophomore QB MVP?
01:21:54Probably like Fernando Mendoza.
01:21:56Sophomore.
01:21:57Yep, still Fernando Mendoza.
01:21:58I mean, come on, there's one answer.
01:21:59There's one answer right there.
01:22:01It's our guy, Tyler Shuck.
01:22:03Who would be the candidates, though?
01:22:04Shadur, Tyler Shuck?
01:22:05What's my favorite type of crab?
01:22:09Just like the, what's the normal?
01:22:11Look, our guy Willie Nixon's going to send some down, dude.
01:22:14No, no, no.
01:22:14Blue crab.
01:22:15Uh, you have...
01:22:17Yes, please send us the crab.
01:22:19Yeah.
01:22:19King crab is like so sweet and...
01:22:21Dungeness.
01:22:22Dungeness, yeah.
01:22:23And just, you dip that thing in butter.
01:22:25Woo!
01:22:26I would be down for any type of crab.
01:22:27I could eat 45 pounds.
01:22:29Same.
01:22:30Uh, Megan, do you have any lobster tips for me tomorrow?
01:22:32Have you ever made lobster?
01:22:32I gave you one.
01:22:33I told you to put it on the grill.
01:22:35Okay, but no, I don't want it.
01:22:36I don't want it.
01:22:37I don't have a grill.
01:22:37All right, just don't overcook it.
01:22:40Just eat it raw, dude.
01:22:41Right out of the thing.
01:22:42What?
01:22:42Raw.
01:22:43Raw?
01:22:43Shout out, guys.
01:22:44Love you guys.
01:22:45Let's wrap it up, T-Bomb.
01:22:46Wrap it up in two weeks more Wake Up Barstool.
