00:00Donald Trump revoked the legal basis for U.S. climate regulation, ending vehicle emission
00:06standards on Thursday. The Obama-era endangerment finding has long supported limits on planet
00:13warming pollution from cars, power plants and other sources. The finding says carbon
00:18dioxide and other greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels endanger public health and welfare.
00:25The Trump administration says the finding hurts industry and the economy.
00:30So perhaps no industry has benefited more from our historic deregulation campaign than
00:35the U.S. auto industry. We cancelled the EPA's absurd, just totally absurd tailpipe emission
00:44standards which was a disaster for automobile manufacturing.
00:49The rule was adopted after a 2007 Supreme Court decision that said greenhouse gases are air
00:55pollutants under the Clean Air Act. Climate scientists warn that
00:59overturning the endangerment finding undermines decades of scientific progress and damages
01:06the credibility of U.S. institutions tasked with protecting the environment. They also
01:12note that rising global temperatures are driving more extreme heat, wildfires, drought and catastrophic
01:18flooding and causing billions of dollars in damage.
01:25Several NATO allies including Germany and the UK announced a $35 billion military aid package
01:32for Ukraine following a defense minister meeting held in Brussels on Thursday.
01:37We can save lives, we can pressure Putin and we can agree peace but only if we step up together.
01:46So together I can confirm at today's UDCG we pledged a total of $35 billion worth of new military aid
01:56for Ukraine.
01:57NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called the meeting pivotal, pointing to a shift where Europe is
02:04taking on more responsibility and leadership inside the alliance.
02:07For the U.S. security it is vital to have a strong NATO but also for the U.S. security
02:12it's vital to have a stronger European presence within NATO.
02:16And that's exactly what's happening. We are ramping up the spending in Europe and Canada to protect ourselves better.
02:21And the Arctic was also on the agenda. A day prior on Wednesday, NATO launched a new mission called Arctic
02:28Century to strengthen security in the high north.
02:32The mission will bring together the activities of 32 allies in the region under one overarching operational strategy.
02:44Russia has attempted to fully block access to the WhatsApp messenger app in the country, the company said on Thursday.
02:51As Moscow seeks greater control over its internet space.
02:56The Kremlin is also pushing for a state-backed, controlled Max messenger, which WhatsApp called a state-owned surveillance app
03:04in a statement shared on social media.
03:07Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Russian media that Meta was being blamed for failing to comply with Russian regulations.
03:16Earlier this week, Moscow also restricted access to the Telegram messaging app, its founder Pavel Durov has confirmed.
03:24Several Meta platforms have been officially banned in Russia following Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
03:33Facebook and Instagram are only accessible with a VPN in Russia.
03:41Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Heraskevich has been disqualified before his first run at the 2026 Milano-Kotina Winter Olympics, the
03:51International Olympic Committee IOC announced on Thursday.
03:54The IOC banned Heraskevich from using his custom-made helmet, which features portraits of Ukrainian athletes killed in Russia's full
04:03-scale invasion since early 2022.
04:06The helmet does not display any slogans or political symbols.
04:11With regret, we took this decision, but it followed his refusal, multiple refusals to comply with the IOC guidelines on
04:20athlete expression.
04:21Despite multiple exchanges and in-person meetings with the IOC and Mr. Karasevich, the last one just this morning at
04:307.30 with the IOC president, Kirstie Coventry, who was in Kortina to meet him, he would not consider the
04:38many compromises that we offered him.
04:40Ukraine's foreign minister, Andrei Sibiha, slammed the IOC's decision, calling it an act of shame.
04:46Two more Ukrainian Olympians have had their helmets barred from the Winter Games on the grounds of politicization.
04:58Police in Norway searched properties belonging to former Prime Minister Turbjorn Yakland on Thursday, following the launch of a corruption
05:05probe over his dealings with convicted U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
05:10Yakland is being investigated after documents the U.S. Justice Department released in January suggested he and his family stayed
05:18or vacationed with Epstein between 2011 and 2018, when he was chairing the Nobel Committee.
05:24On Wednesday, the Council of Europe, where he served as Secretary General for 10 years until 2019, said it was
05:32honoring a request from Norwegian authorities to waive Yakland's immunity from legal processes that he had previously enjoyed.
05:40Yakland was a controversial figure when he headed the Council of Europe and was repeatedly accused by both Norwegian and
05:47international media of being too surveil towards the Kremlin.
05:51He was not the only influential Norwegian figure mentioned in the latest batch of released Epstein documents.
05:57The files showed that Crown Princess Mette Mared borrowed an Epstein-owned property in Palm Beach for several days in
06:042013, as well as other correspondents.
06:11Certain employees at Samson's battery factory in God were exposed to severe pollution until 2023, and the authorities had to
06:21choose between imposing a small fine or suspending the factory's operations.
06:26According to an investigative article by Telex, the decision was taken by the Hungarian government.
06:32We know that we knew that this problem was completely clear.
06:36They were in the case, in fact, and they knew that the official documents have more complex decisions on the
06:42Samsung's students.
06:43They were asking, which is what they give to this process?
06:47If they had to fix the operation, they could be fixed by the operation, or if they had to fix
06:50the operation,
06:51it would be possible to say that this was a logical solution, but it would not have been done by
06:56the process of the European government.
06:57God strongly backed the establishment of Asian battery factories in Hungary,
07:02prompting significant public resistance over environmental and workplace safety concerns,
07:07concerns the government ultimately dismissed.
07:11For example, the Samson factory was removed from God's local authority
07:15while the town was under opposition leadership.
07:39The Hungarian government did not rebut the article in detail,
07:43but it denied that the cabinet discussed Samson's God plant and said the factory is operating legally.
07:57A Seattle minister-úr eljelentést tett, illetve a Telex-szel szemben pertindított.

08:29A most powerful version yet of Europe's Ariane 6 rocket blasted off from French Guiana on Thursday,
08:36carrying with it 32 satellites for Amazon Leo's broadband constellation.
08:41The Ariane 6-4, named after its four boosters,
08:45made its maiden launch from the European spaceport in Kourou.
08:49The Ariane 6 program is backed by 13 nations, all members of the European Space Agency.
08:56The flagship of Europe's rocket industry is competing in a highly competitive global market
09:01against heavyweight players, including Elon Musk's market leader SpaceX.
09:07U.S. firm Amazon, founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos,
09:10is the main commercial partner for the Ariane 6,
09:13despite the latter being touted as a symbol of European sovereignty in the sector.
09:18With these 32 satellites, Amazon will have a total of 200 in the sky,
09:22and its plans, it aims at having over 3,000 in the next few years.
09:29So this is only the first out of 18 launches planned with Amazon for Ariane 6.
09:37This heavyweight rocket has been designed to replace Ariane 5
09:41and restore Europe's independent access to space,
09:45after several years of delays and a launch gap
09:49that has left the continent reliant on foreign providers.
