00:00Thousands of people took to the streets in France on Saturday to mourn the death of a far-right activist
00:06who died in fighting clashes last week.
00:09U.S. President Donald Trump has increased global tariffs from 10 to 15 percent after a Supreme Court decision struck
00:17down his sweep of import taxes.
00:21Hezbollah says eight of its members were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the eastern Lebanese region of Baalbek on Friday.
00:303,200 people took to the streets in the French city of Lyon on Saturday to mourn Quentin de Rennes,
00:37the 23-year-old far-right nationalist who died during clashes between political activists last week.
00:46The march promoted by far-right organizations took place under heavy police presence.
00:51I wanted to honor Quentin's memory. I wanted to walk with all the people who are revolted as I am.
01:00It's totally normal that someone was released, a young man, or any person, released like that on the ground in
01:07a more violent way.
01:11Seven people now face charges of intentional homicide. Among the suspects is a parliamentary aide linked to the far-left
01:18party, France on board.
01:27President Macron has called for calm, pledging to review and potentially dismantle violent activist groups across the political spectrum.
01:37With president elections looming, France's deep political fractures are no longer simmering beneath the surface, but spilling onto the streets.
01:49U.S. President Donald Trump has said he will effectively immediately raise the global tariffs on countries from 10%
01:56to 15% after the Supreme Court ruled his sweeping tariffs exceeded presidential authority on Friday.
02:04The ruling dealt a major blow to Trump, striking down what has been one of the biggest pillars of his
02:10economic policy.
02:12The U.S. President seemed unfazed, however, and says with the new levies he plans to introduce, Washington is set
02:18to make even more money than before.
02:21We are doing the various investigations necessary to put fair tariffs or tariffs, period, on other countries.
02:31So we're doing that period, but we're immediately instituting the 10% provision, which we're allowed to do.
02:37And in the end, I think we're taking more money than we've taken in before.
02:41Trump's tariffs have been in deliberation at the U.S. top court for months.
02:46Six of the nine justices voted to outlaw his sweeping measures, which went into effect in August.
02:52The ruling puts much of the revenue earned from tariffs in question, and also trade deals brokered by the Trump
02:59administration, including the one with the European Union.
03:06Hezbollah says eight of its members were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the eastern Lebanese region of Baalbek on Friday,
03:13including several local officials.
03:15One of those dead was Hussein Yaghi, son of Mohamed Yaghi, a Hezbollah founder and close aide to the late
03:23leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by Israel in September 2024.
03:27Israel also confirmed on Saturday that its strikes had eliminated several Hezbollah members in what it says were three command
03:35centers in Baalbek.
03:37The IDF said in a post that those members were ramping up the group's readiness and allegedly planning attacks against
03:44Israel, but provided no evidence.
03:47Lebanon's health ministry earlier noted that 10 people were killed in the strikes, including three children, and a further 24
03:54people were wounded.
03:56Doctors in the nearby Riaq hospital confirmed that they had received the bodies of 10 people and were treating 21
04:03others who had sustained injuries.
04:05Hospital officials said that two of those killed and five of the injured were foreign nationals from Syria and Ethiopia.
04:15Seven people died on Saturday after a car fell through the ice at a lake in Russia's Serbian region.
04:21They were all tourists from China.
04:24According to local media, the car was traveling outside of an official ice crossing when it went underwater at a
04:31depth of about 18 meters.
04:33Only one tourist managed to get out.
04:36The driver and seven others died, including a couple with a 14-year-old child.
04:42In winter, Lake Baikal becomes a popular tourist destination.
04:46However, ice thickness can change dramatically due to wind, currents, and high temperatures.
