00:01The U.S. says its forces destroyed military sites on the Iranian Karg Island,
00:07vital to its oil network,
00:09threatening that the country's oil infrastructure could be next
00:11if Iran continues to interfere with the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
00:16Iran said no oil infrastructure was damaged in the U.S. strikes,
00:20and warned that oil and energy infrastructure owned by U.S.-linked firms
00:24would be targeted if the United States struck its oil facilities.
00:29The U.S. and Israel have continued with large-scale strikes on Iran,
00:33with retaliatory Iranian attacks hitting Israel and neighboring Gulf states
00:37as it squeezes the world economy by threatening to strike oil tankers on the Strait of Hormuz.
00:43Trump said the U.S. Navy would start escorting tankers through the key waterway
00:47very soon to restore oil exports.
00:50A drone also struck the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on Saturday, security sources said.
00:56The attack took place shortly after two Iran-backed fighters were killed in strikes on Iraq's capital.
01:02After 14 days of war, the United States is reportedly sending reinforcements
01:07that could open up options beyond the airborne campaign.
01:15NATO leaders are imploring U.S. President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil.
01:22Overnight on Thursday, Trump said he would temporarily lift the sanctions
01:26to increase global oil supply amid soaring prices due to the war in Iran.
01:31Speaking at NATO's cold-response military exercise in the Arctic,
01:35the leaders of Germany, Norway and Canada said that removing sanctions,
01:39albeit temporarily, against Russia was a wrong move.
01:42As you all know, we had a videoconference with the G7 leaders on Wednesday.
01:50And six out of seven were clearly the opinion that we should not release the sanctions against Russia.
02:02And we were a little bit surprised that we heard this morning that the American government decided differently.
02:10This is definitely not our view.
02:12In terms of a G7 meeting, I'm sure there will be additional G7 meetings.
02:18The convening of those meetings is the responsibility of the presidency.
02:23We all have direct lines into the president and we'll use them.
02:26Oil prices have spiked to a high not seen since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
02:33The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is flanked by Iran and is a passage for one-fifth
02:38of the world's oil output,
02:40means crude oil prices have remained high despite this easing.
02:44Moscow has welcomed Trump's decision, saying that the U.S. and Russia are aligned.
02:49German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius says he's concerned about the impact on the war in Ukraine.
02:54Now Russia will have access to more revenue.
02:57How worried are you about the impact of Donald Trump's decision to allow Russia to earn millions of dollars in
03:03oil revenue,
03:04the impact that's going to have on Ukraine and also for NATO security, then that it has so much more
03:08money?
03:08I'm very much concerned.
03:09I mean, the only thing at the end to really force Putin at the negotiation table
03:15is to make clear that his revenues out of export of oil and gas will find an end.
03:20And this is the opposite of that.
03:22And for that, it's just a real disadvantage to be diplomatic for Ukraine.
03:29Well, as we heard there from all three leaders,
03:31they fundamentally disagree with Donald Trump's decision to allow Russia to earn millions,
03:35potentially billions of dollars from oil revenue.
03:37They say they're going to lobby him to try to get him to change his mind.
03:40It's not clear if that's going to happen.
03:41But the wider question, of course, is the impact that this is going to have on the war in Ukraine
03:46and wider NATO security.

03:56Dutch and Portuguese intelligence agencies have warned that Russia is running a global cyber campaign
04:02to infiltrate WhatsApp and signal accounts of government officials, diplomats and military personnel.
04:08Scammers use different methods to trick users into sharing passwords, compromising accounts,
04:14reading conversations, accessing files and launching new phishing campaigns targeting contacts,
04:19Portugal's security information service said.
04:23Artificial intelligence tools are increasingly used to impersonate technical support staff or trusted contacts.
04:29Scammers collect targets, voice recordings and images to engage in conversations via messages,
04:35phone calls or video calls.
04:37Dutch intelligence and security services said that Russia is behind the attacks.
04:42The confirmed government officials are among the targets and victims
04:46and warned journalists may also be targeted by Moscow.
