00:05If the Giants don't make any big moves in free agency for a wide receiver,
00:09then I'm all in on them drafting Ohio State wide receiver, Carnell Tate.
00:14I mean, I think this guy is going to be the next Buckeye receiver
00:17to come into the league and make an immediate impact.
00:20We see that year after year.
00:22He's got a big body at 6'3", wide catch radius, which I love.
00:26He catches the ball with his hands.
00:28He's not a body catcher like a lot of guys in this draft class.
00:32And he's going to make a lot of money in the NFL making plays down the field.
00:36We don't know if Malik Nabors is going to be 100% by the start of the season.
00:41And by 100%, I mean him out there feeling like a leak again coming off that ACL injury.
00:47It's the mental and the physical.
00:49So if you're going to draft a wide receiver at 5,
00:52he may have to step in and be the one on day one.
00:56So Bama, LSU, Ohio State, those receivers step into the NFL league ready.
01:02So I got a couple of tape plays on how Giants offense coordinator Matt Nagy can use him
01:08and why they should draft him if he's there at 5 in today's Blue Rush draft prospect profile.
01:17All right.
01:18I mean, the kids started off the season with a bang.
01:21You see, remember this Texas game?
01:23It's got a dig and go, a little double move here.
01:28You watch them down here at the bottom.
01:30Watch the play and then we'll rewind it and I'll kind of break down what I like about it.
01:35Got the, I don't know, sluggo dig and go.
01:37I don't know what they, what they would call that at Ohio State, but I love the way he got
01:41inside
01:43and then widened back to the outside.
01:45So let's go back and kind of break this down on how this kid, he's going to be ready.
01:50He's going to be NFL ready.
01:51So right here, let's say we would call this a dig and go.
01:55Like you're running, you're faking like you're running the dig and then you go, you know,
01:58you go up the field.
01:59You know that these guys are going to double team Jeremiah Smith.
02:02This gets the one-on-one he's played with a alpha receiver already in the Jeremiah Smith.
02:10So he's going to have no problem playing with Malik neighbors and those two kind of playing
02:14off of each other.
02:16Love the release here.
02:17Love how he sticks this, this threatens corners technique, the outside technique, and then dives
02:25inside, gives them shoulder, gets vertical here, gives them a little subtle move because
02:31you know, you don't want to take too much time on that dig because it's going to slow
02:35you down.
02:36He know he has some beat, but this is the most important thing on why I think this kid's
02:41going to be NFL ready or why he's NFL ready day one.
02:44Look how he widens back out because let's say this safety doesn't get nosy and look to
02:51double.
02:52I believe that's Jeremiah Smith right there.
02:55Let's say this safety played a little bit more honest or was at least looking, you know,
03:00at Tate.
03:03If he just stayed up and what we call split the difference between the numbers in the
03:09hash, if he just stayed right here at this one safe light logo, that would give a single
03:16high safety.
03:16That would give a safety chance to speed turn, get over the top and make a play on this football.
03:25But you see how Cardinal Tate is widening out.
03:28So whether you're in the league or in college, you always want to do this.
03:32You want to widen out.
03:33You want to widen that throw to keep away from that danger.
03:36And then now it's just about tracking his football.
03:39You see him trying to go up for the football, trying to catch it with his hands.
03:43It's vastly under thrown right there.
03:46It's just about somebody's got to make a big boy play and come down with the football.
03:49And that's what he does.
03:51So let's look at it from this angle.
03:53I won't spend too much time with the RPO, which Matt Nagy is going to bring RPOs from
04:00Kansas City.
04:01You saw Patrick Mahomes do that a lot.
04:03Andy Reid called a lot of RPOs in that offense.
04:06They're for darn sure going to do it with Jackson Dart.
04:09But just to go back to this ball is in the air, y'all.
04:13The ball is in the air and he hasn't looked back for it.
04:17This is elite ball tracking right here.
04:20This lets you know that this kid, this is a drill that they work.
04:25Shout out to former Buckeyes receivers coach Brian Hartline.
04:29I think he's a head coach somewhere now.
04:31But he's worked to get these guys developed.
04:33I was in Miami.
04:34I was with the Dolphins with Brian Hartline when he was drafted.
04:37So I know all about, you know, how he plays with technique, had a hell of a career playing
04:42with technique.
04:43But you see the way Carnell Tate tracks this football, man.
04:46Like, this is elite.
04:48Slows down.
04:52Understands how the ball is going to drop.
04:55How it's going to come in there.
04:57You see a lot of kids, they'll just slow down.
04:59They won't even slow down, really.
05:01They'll continue to move and allow this DB to get in the phase.
05:06But for him to slow down, attack the football, come down with it, that's just a big boy play.
05:14Now, again, off the RPO.
05:16Matt Nagy's going to bring that RPO.
05:17Hate to nag y'all by keep saying that.
05:20But that's just part of the NFL now.
05:22Here's a catch and run.
05:24Love to see it.
05:25I know this corner's playing off.
05:28Catch.
05:29Snag.
05:29Make a guy miss.
05:30And get upfield.
05:32Yak wasn't really his thing.
05:34You don't see too many yak plays from him throughout his college Tate.
05:39But anybody that has the ability to catch and run, whether, you know, you already know he can make explosive
05:46plays going down the football field and throwing the ball up 40, 50 yards down the field.
05:51But it's always great to see a guy come off the ball, boom, catch it, make a guy miss, and
05:57do what you do after it.
05:59But let me talk to you guys about it from the other angle.
06:02Let me tell you what I like from the other angle.
06:04So you know here, you can see I'm using the TV copy here, y'all.
06:08So, you know, you're getting some sort of blitz, RPO, run pass option.
06:13You know he's, if you're a receiver, you're expecting this football.
06:16Here's what I like.
06:17You see this corner right here.
06:19You can't see it because of the circle.
06:21This corner is two to three yards inside.
06:24They're playing some sort of, you know, cover three here with they got the blitz on the outside.
06:29They're basically man to man.
06:31I don't know why this stupid call to run right now, but hey, I'm not the D coordinator here.
06:36What I like here, and again, this is NFL type technique, how flat he comes with this angle off this
06:45slant.
06:46You see he's almost running it like an under because if he ran it at the 45 degree angle,
06:52then you're going to be running it right into this corner who's about to start driving on this football.
06:59By staying flat with his angle, now he keeps that space, that separation away from that corner, snags it with
07:09his hands.
07:09This corner, he's lost with the sauce.
07:12Snagged it with his hands and gives himself the ability to catch, identify his surroundings, make a guy miss, and
07:23then get upfield.
07:23So, last but not least, this was a hell of a catch.
07:27Don't even worry about, not even worry about the play call, the route, any of it.
07:32It's just about the number five overall pick, making number five overall type pick plays, and that's a big boy
07:39catch right here.
07:40We all saw it, SportsCenter, top 10.
07:43Again, it's the first time I kind of even knew what he looked like because the helmet came off, but
07:48this was a huge catch.
07:53Third and 11, somebody needs to make a play.
07:57Double coverage, goes up and attacks the football with his hands.
08:01We're going to go to another angle so I can break down why this catch was such a big deal.
08:09So, Antonio, I'm going to skip through all this.
08:11Actually, no, I want to go back to this.
08:13I want to go back to this.
08:15So, I'm going to pause it, and then I'll start right when we get there.
08:24Three, two, one.
08:27All right, do you see the angle?
08:29Do you see this man going up, attacking the football in double coverage?
08:34There's not a lot of wide receivers in this draft class that are doing this, and the ones
08:39that are don't have the skill set and ability as a Carnell Tate, so they're not going to
08:44be there.
08:45Well, they'll be there at five, but the team's not going to.
08:47I don't think a team's going to take them.
08:49They're not going to have that grade.
08:50Look at this.
08:51Look at the athleticism.
08:53Y'all, look how high he is at 6'3", attacking the football.
08:58You don't have a chance.
08:59Not one of these guys has a chance to make a play on this football because they can't
09:04go eat with the Eagles.
09:05We call attacking this football eating with the Eagles.
09:09The Crows are down here.
09:10The Eagles are up here.
09:12Had he allowed this ball to kind of be a, had he be the body catcher and allowed this
09:18football to kind of come into his body, that now allows this linebacker here to make a
09:23play, to be in phase.
09:24You see where his hands are?
09:26His hands can get up to about his underarms.
09:29So if you're a body catcher and this is any receiver out there, if you're a body catcher,
09:34this, if that allows or would allow this linebacker to make a play on this football.
09:40But the fact that he attacked it, ate with the Eagles.
09:44Now you can catch, secure, and now you've got a chance to bring it down, put it away
09:50and bring it down.
09:51You know, you're going to get a hit.
09:52You know, there's going to be some sort of collision.
09:54Now it's about securing that football and coming down with the football.
09:59This right here, this was the moment where I go, oh, this kid, it's not just Jeremiah
10:04Smith that they have.
10:05This Tate kid is the real deal.
10:07And because of that, the Giants should draft him fifth overall.
10:12Let's go one more angle.
10:14One more angle.
10:15I'm not, just, just because it's that, that big of a catch.
10:19Head gets knocked around, helmets knocked around.
10:22That's a big boy catch right there.
10:25Oh, not a lot of people coming down with that ball.
10:29He and Malik Navers would do a lot of work together.
10:34Jackson Dart is going to love throwing the football to this kid.
10:38I mean, Jackson Dart's superpower is his accuracy when he throws the deep ball, right?
10:43We saw him dropping in the bucket multiple times last season.
10:47And unfortunately, we saw a lot of those balls were dropped.
10:50Tate has an insane catch radius where he attacks the football and not every pass has to be perfect
10:57for him to come down with it.
10:59He can make a quarterback right just because of the way he goes after the rock.
11:03So the Giants are going to have to add a receiver that can make plays consistently down the field.
11:09Adding an explosive weapon on the perimeter has to be a must in Matt Nagy's offense.
11:16And having this guy out there is going to put a lot of pressure on secondaries if you try and
11:22double Malik or you try and use some sort of safety to spy him or just help out on him.
11:27That's going to open Tate up with the one-on-one to take shots down the field or just for
11:33him to win.
11:34Not every big play has to be an explosive play, 50, 60, 70 yards down the field.
11:41Sometimes it's just as simple as making the play that comes your way.
11:45This is a kid that got better with his development and route running each season at Ohio State.
11:52He stays healthy and once again, I'll say it again, he's not a body catcher.
11:58I'm tired of these receivers catching the ball with their bodies and everyone saying that they're a top 10 or
12:06a top 5 wide receiver.
12:07No, they're not.
12:09Carnell Tate is ready to be a wide receiver one on day one and he's worth being grabbed fifth overall.
12:15If he's there, the Giants have to take Tate.
12:22I'll see you in the next video.
