The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) aims to lift Malaysia’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score to at least 60 within two to three years, says chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Malaysia’s score rose from 50 to 52, with its ranking improving to 54th, but Azam stressed that the score — not the position — is the true benchmark.

He said reaching 60 would signal meaningful progress driven by strong political will and governance reforms, noting that leadership integrity and enforcement consistency heavily influence global perception surveys.

00:00Do you want to comment about the CBI in the CBI?
00:3050 over 100 this year we achieve another two points 52 over 100 I make it very simple
00:37I mean what they call what they call analogy last year what did I say you can remember what
00:44I said if your children my dear you have son okay come back to a house mommy I'm showing
00:51you I got 50 over 100 how do you feel on that as a chief commissioner I've been
01:01try to championing to get the CBI even since 2016 I'm telling you that time I'm a
01:06deputy chief but I'm so instrumental in about getting the CBI to be good at that time I'm
01:12a lonely person in MECC for MECC but not to the others always people blame why MECC is
01:20not doing their work and all that okay you will see the result 50 over 100 it's about
01:24C minus I think so lah nearly D you see I've spent so much money I don't a lot you
01:31only
01:32get 50 over 100 now we got 52 okay so it's kind of a good achievement so far but still
01:39long way to go two points so based from 9 sebit but whatever it is it's the ranking of course
01:47increase to from 60 57 to 54 now I'm not so much as interested on on the ranking because
01:54other countries also try to increase the ranking but it's about the score so I'm trying if I have
01:59the chance in future for next year we try to increase more score instead of now 52 you can get
02:0856 and the four
02:10point there were two survey that the the the what you call the the survey drop the result drop I
02:19can't
02:19remember I'll give you later one is minus five and the one minus two minus one sorry so that effect
02:24also other survey but come back to my expression explanation here about perception how that you perceive
02:32how you perceive me and all that it's about perception now like Bloomberg they are creating kind of
02:36perception they are good in this right to create kind of negative perception on Azam okay what
02:40reason I don't know so this is about the performance of the Kerajaan Amadani the what the engagement
02:48made by the government especially the Prime Minister I have to be frank here our Prime Minister
02:53been running here and there meeting all the head of states and try to sell our country to be seen
03:02that
03:02we have done a lot of improvement bringing all the investor had to the he tried to convince the
03:09investor to come here so that's why the result of it our English look good our investors and also
03:15approval for the investment how much it's more than how much trillion you can check that so this is a
03:23good
03:23sign that's why I have a sense we will can we're going to get a bit better for this year
03:29but my prediction
03:31last two days all right it's all right because that morning I said we're going to get 52 it's very
03:37right and I'm a astrologer my sense my guess is all very right only get 52 we know why because
03:46there
03:46are many attacks here and there saying that we are not done so much on terms of reform and all
03:52that so I
03:53respect all kind of opinion from Transverse International of Malaysia and from other countries and all that
04:00show us some way how that we can improve but nevertheless the living document here is
04:08national anti-translation strategy is about the reform and to promote good governance so the way forward
04:14for the future for us to get good results still we have to look at the good political wheel of
04:24the
04:24leadership of the Prime Minister that's about all I'm telling you this is my experience until now coming to
04:3043 years in service this is from my observation people can perceive for any country they look at the
04:36leaders if the leaders is not good don't have clear agenda especially in fighting corruption and the
04:40want to do reform the India will remain there or will drop again and again so we can achieve by
04:5860% for
04:59the next two three years that one for me good enough I'm looking at the score I'm not so much
05:06looking
05:06other and this one mungkin orang marang right mungkin PM akan marang right but I'm not looking at the
05:10ranking I'm looking at the score other country like Qatar semua that scored about 60 you know
05:18but we are still looking now 54 so that's another six point if I know if I know if we
05:27can get another
05:27six point next year I think then good lah so we achieve 60 already so that time could be our
05:33ranking
05:3415 mungkin 50 I don't know so if you wanted to go for that ranking 35 by 2030 I don't
05:43know whether we can
05:44achieve or not 10 years from the announcement but if you can get the score 60 over for the next
05:50two three
05:50years that one a damn good result it's a damn good result
05:53so
06:02you
06:03you
