00:00It's one of the biggest events on Canberra's calendar, and the Territory Government is
00:09hoping this year's multicultural festival will draw bigger crowds than last year's 300,000.
00:16The vibe is really great, people are flooding into the city and there's lots of buzz so
00:21I'm hopeful.
00:22The events on offer are as diverse as the cultures they represent from traditional
00:28dance, to cultural performances, amid the sound of dozens of different dialects.
00:37We have got more than 50 community language schools here.
00:42The crowds braved the heat, but vendors had to as well, all while cooking for thousands.
00:48The heat is getting to us a little bit, but you know what, we love this thing and it's
00:53what we do.
00:54This year is the hottest since we've been doing this event, but we're coping.
01:00It's not a problem, trust me.
01:02When you're from Jamaica, it is pretty hot there.
01:05This is nothing compared.
01:06The weather's also been on the mind of organisers.
01:09Multiculti is known for falling on the hottest weekend of the year every year.
01:14We have free water stations right throughout the festival.
01:17There are misting stations.
01:18Also the expansion into Glebe Park gives us much more shade and we've actually added shade
01:23structures.
01:24Making it slightly more comfortable to enjoy the spectacle.
01:27The music dancing, which I wanted to join in, and the lemonade and the food, all different
01:33varieties.
01:34Seeing a lot of people around here, this is only once a year and the culture is really, really
01:40good.
01:41Quite literally, a festival for everyone.
