Australian Capital celebrates with food, music and dance from around the world with multicultural festival

The national multicultural festival is under way in Canberra with people coming from all over the country and the world to celebrate. It's one of the biggest events on the capital's calendar.

00:00Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit the three-day festival, which celebrates

00:06the richness of more than 150 cultures.

00:10The festival is filled with cultural performances from around the world, like this traditional

00:14folk dance from Ukraine.

00:15It's the reality of the Ukrainian community in Australia today, waves of immigration all

00:20joining together and working together to preserve our culture and heritage.

00:24Some performances are on the official program.

00:27In the Nigerian community, they're a little more spontaneous.

00:32Many cultures have travelled a long way to be in Australia, as well as here today, some

00:36for the first time.

00:37It's unreal.

00:38We are so happy to be sharing our culture with so many people from different countries.

00:44Food is a major attraction at the festival.

00:46The smell of delicacies from around the globe filling the air here in the centre of the

00:50capital.

00:51The celebration of harmony and multiculturalism is one of Canberra's biggest events and has

00:56been expanding every year.

00:58The festival runs until Sunday.
