00:00Texans, Colts, we know that's happening after we get Food's Birthday celebrated tomorrow,
00:05after we get Black Friday on the books.
00:07We will then be looking forward to a big matchup in the AFC South.
00:11And we know the thing that we're super interested in is that Colts offense that was really good
00:16to start the season looks like it's had some of its issues versus this Texans defense that everybody's loving.
00:22We'll talk more about that.
00:23The question that has been on my table or in my mind when it comes to the ultimate potluck of Thanksgiving
00:29that the Texans are going to do.
00:30You're just tying it all in.
00:31Oh, I'm leaning in heavy.
00:33If you are not here for metaphors and such, you might as well go ahead and change the channel today.
00:40Big bag, big bag.
00:41That's right.
00:42That's right.
00:43We know that the defense is the host.
00:48They made the turkey.
00:49They made the ham.
00:50They made the stuffing slash dressing.
00:52It's just offense.
00:53Y'all coming through.
00:54What y'all bringing?
00:55Yeah, look.
00:56Are y'all bringing something?
00:57What are they bringing?
00:58You know, one thing we've done, and it's only Wednesday.
01:00It just feels like the week has gone by pretty quickly because we're already kind of previewing the game.
01:05But one thing that slipped through the cracks was Monday.
01:09Did you hear what I heard when D'Amico was talking about the offense?
01:12I believe I did, but go ahead and remind me of it.
01:14Tell me if this isn't kind of a little shot or at least a little motivator.
01:20Like, he's not altogether satisfied with the offense.
01:22Doesn't necessarily correlate.
01:23We still got to do a better job moving the ball in the second half.
01:27I don't think our second half offense was good enough.
01:29And, you know, so we have to continue to strive, continue to get better at executing the plays, calling it better.
01:35We got to do a much better job, coaches, players, everybody.
01:38We got to be able to move the ball way more than we did in the second half.
01:42We're going to finish games the right way.
01:43You know, stealing the headlines has been Davis Mills.
01:46Stealing the headlines has been the defense.
01:47Stealing the headlines has been some big plays, getting some rookies involved, getting some young players involved, Jaden Higgins, Woody Marks.
01:54And we're kind of like, hey, offensive line, found some consistency.
01:58And we're like, hey, there's a little there with the offense.
02:00And I think there is.
02:01There is a little there in the offense.
02:03Is there enough?
02:05D'Amico's kind of calling him out there.
02:07Not, yeah, absolutely.
02:08Not even kind of.
02:09Yeah, that's pretty clear.
02:10And I appreciate it.
02:11Like, I sincerely appreciate it.
02:12It speaks to one of my anxieties that I allowed and vocalized.
02:16And we'll get deeper to that as we go in this program as well, which was kind of isolated to the run game, which was I hope they don't see that and just think everything's good.
02:26I think also to that end, I don't think that D'Amico Ryans or I think that D'Amico Ryans is doing or is not doing something that felt like he was doing last year, which was we got the win.
02:35So it don't really matter.
02:37Right.
02:37This year was like, hey, don't let that 3-0 fool you.
02:40And I am still seeing that we need better.
02:42Like, there's no complacency within this.
02:44And I appreciate that because you can't afford that.
02:47Right.
02:47You can't afford that, especially with the schedule that's coming up.
02:51I think also there is a level of understanding that, hey, man, defense has been carrying a lot of this weight.
02:56Yeah.
02:56And what the offense has brought is a little bit nicer.
03:00But no, we need more.
03:01Right.
03:02And so I think that I appreciate that.
03:04I sincerely appreciate that from him.
03:06I think the question then becomes, what are they capable of bringing?
03:09Right.
03:09Like, because again, we could say, yeah, I got to bring more.
03:12But what is it that we believe that they are capable of bringing to, to, I was about to call it the RCA dome, just because you and Andy were talking about it yesterday, to Lucas Oil on Sunday.
03:20Yeah, look, you know, since the bye week, this offense has scored in the teens three times out of six games.
03:28In two other wins, they scored 23 and 26.
03:31That's been good enough, you know, by and large.
03:35But scoring in the teens, and even though the offense is looking better and feeling better about it, like, especially this game, maybe that's what it comes down to.
03:45Maybe I just have a kind of a bad feeling that they're going to need more points in this one.
03:50You know, I heard Seth talking about a blowout, and I was kind of shaking my head.
03:54I don't feel a blowout here.
03:56I feel like, especially there on that turf, you know, with that offense and that crowd, their offense is going to get some points on this defense.
04:03Now, maybe that's only 24, but that's still pretty good, considering what they've done.
04:08So I'm kind of feeling this offense, yes, you've looked good and it's felt good.
04:13Now you've got to be good.
04:14You've got to get into the 20s.
04:16You've got to get in maybe even the 30s, which sounds insane, doesn't it?
04:19But I think you do.
04:21Yeah, and I think you're going to need the offense, just period.
04:24I think this could be a situation where you can also help your defense because it doesn't feel like there's been enough of that game script.
04:32It's one of those phrases that I use a lot, and, you know, sometimes it can kind of fade to the background, and I understand that.
04:39But, no, this has been something that you have not had enough of and enough of a capability to employ with your offense.
04:46That pressure that you can put on that team over there by going out and being effective, not just being effective, but being effective early, it's huge.
04:54Like, that is big.
04:55And so, not just needing the points, but also, I would like the points for you to change the way that this game goes.
05:01How much more do you think the defensive line of the capacity and the capability is the defensive line as this Texas team has shown you?
05:09I think that made sense.
05:10I'm not thinking it's close to it.
05:11But how much more capable do you think that is when that other team is over there and they're like, damn, we're down two scores.
05:18Yeah.
05:18Right?
05:19We need to get it in gear right now, and you push them into places where they can't be as conservative or they can't be as protective as they would want to be.
05:27Those are things that you need.
05:28But then on top of it, like, we understand all the additional demographics of this, right?
05:32This is not a week where you're going up against a team that is just flat out bad in the run.
05:37So, you don't have that as a boon to your offense.
05:39This is also a week in which you have a little bit of a shift happening, although it being, I think, largely it should be to the benefit of your team, which is C.J. Stroud returning.
05:48Right.
05:48But how does that, like, there is some question mark within that.
05:50And I think that all of those factor in.
05:53But, no, you've got to be able to deliver more.
05:55Is there anything in particular that you're looking for more to deliver in the offensive side of this?
05:58Yes, absolutely.
06:00And D'Amico referenced it there in what you just heard.
06:04Do you know the only reason it was a close game Thursday night?
06:07Because the offense sucked in the second half.
06:10The second half play calling was, what do you say, boo-boo?
06:16Or doo-doo?
06:17Or what do you call it?
06:18I don't know.
06:18I go different places at times.
06:21Second half play calling.
06:22It's almost like that's been ignored, too.
06:24Sorry, did you know that the Gen Z folks are apparently utilizing the phrase dog water in this way?
06:30Like, that's what they use to say something that's really bad.
06:33I like it.
06:33They call it dog water.
06:34We can use that.
06:35I like that.
06:36That's very descriptive.
06:37I just wanted to have a little bit of a share.
06:39Is dog water, I guess, worse than boo-boo?
06:41I don't.
06:42I mean, you wouldn't think so.
06:43I wouldn't think so.
06:44You wouldn't think so.
06:45Also, like, is that a shortening of hot dog water or is that just dog water?
06:49That's what I was about to say.
06:50Hot dog water sounds worse.
06:51I'd rather drink dog water than hot dog water.
06:54Really?
06:54One of those is actually a food byproduct.
07:03Don't act like you don't kiss Jackson.
07:05I do not.
07:07We cool.
07:07We ain't that damn pissed.
07:10But sorry.
07:11You were saying?
07:12You with those eyes?
07:13No.
07:15Second half play calling.
07:16Nick Caley was bad.
07:18Yeah.
07:18Like, we can talk about all the good things we're feeling and seeing.
07:22That second half play calling.
07:23And you've heard of D'Amico.
07:24We've got to be better in the second half.
07:25Yeah.
07:25Lou Ann and Rumo ain't no chump.
07:27That's the other thing, right?
07:29That's the other thing.
07:30We talked about how their defense closes.
07:32They're very well on the ball.
07:34They're real good, you know, in certain situations.
07:38Yeah.
07:38I'm not saying I have a bad feeling about this game.
07:40Because, I mean, I said it right after the game on Friday.
07:44Like, this team can beat anybody with this defense.
07:46All I'm saying is, if you want to – we're talking about getting to the next level.
07:49We're talking about playoffs, you know.
07:51This offense has got to be better.
07:53Yeah, that's a great point is that as much as this game needs to be about itself, right,
07:57and especially in that building and amongst the people that wear Houston Texans official gear,
08:03I think that for them, this game has to be about itself.
08:06But for us, this game is also somewhat an indication of what you can do moving forward.
08:10Like, I think you've worked your way back into that place where, I get it,
08:13style points don't matter insofar as you've just got to get yourself into the dance.
08:17But also, I think for me, not that my opinion matters nearly that much to what they're doing,
08:22for me, I would like to see the capability of not only –
08:25what are you working to get into the playoffs for, right?
08:28Obviously, I appreciate just getting those more football games.
08:31But if you're working to get into the playoffs,
08:32I want to see some proof that you can actually go and make some hay in those playoffs.
08:36And this is a great opportunity to do that as well.
08:40John, 21 points and we win the game.
08:42832 says, I don't disagree.
08:44I always say 24.
08:45Get to 24 and you win.
08:47But what if the Colts, you know, have that in that building as you're talking about?
08:52What if they get to the 20s?
08:54You know, you've got to be better than that.
08:56This offense is – it's about taking another step.
08:59Yeah, and I think you're capable of not allowing those points.
09:02Now, if you start allowing special teams to get into this, that's a whole other conversation.
09:06And we will have that conversation.
09:08But, yeah, this offense definitely has to step in.
09:10C.J. Stroud, I hope, can bring, like, a capability of diagnosing what's happening over there.
09:15With Anarumo, I hope that – I mentioned Nick Haley, that we continue to see progress
09:19because that's one of those things that we've talked about.
09:21It's better.
09:22It's not fully developed.
09:23Right.
09:23And so what is the additional step?
09:25Those are all things that I'm intrigued to see when the Texans face off against the –
