00:00The Paraguayan Congress advanced on Thursday with the reform of the public sector pension law promoted by President Santiago Peña, despite strong opposition from workers.
00:10While various unions gathered around the legislative headquarters to protest the bill, 41 parliamentarians, almost all from the ruling Colorado Party, voted in favor.
00:19The reform, which sets a minimum retirement age of 57, requires a lift 25 years of contributions and shifts the fiscal and fund adjustment burden onto workers, now moved to the Senate to continue its process while unions announced further actions.
