01:45People just can't stop talking about the interview with Michael Jackson, a British documentary which aired in the U.S. last night.

03:24You know, everybody wants to get a story going.
03:27I even get a phone call from a tabloid offering an incredible amount of money just to talk dirt.
03:33It's a PR meltdown.
03:35There is tremendous pressure to get it all under control.

03:45Michael, great entertainer, big celebrity status.

03:51But he has a habit of tripping.
03:53So when this Bashir interview was released in the United States, I get a call from my friend Frank, who's Michael Jackson's PR manager.

04:09which is occurring right now Frank was very close to Michael I asked him you
04:17know before I leave and I take this job has Michael ever harmed a child and he
04:23says Vin you know me I am the closest person to him and he said never would
04:29happen so I trusted Frank and I made a decision to take the job
04:37the best thing that we could do to defend Michael Jackson was to film our own
04:43documentary to get a really good rebuttal to who Michael was and that he's a good
04:49person Michael Jackson take two is going to air on Fox February 20th so then
04:54what do you think about Michael's version of this show that's going to come out
04:57suppose positive spin I mean it'll help him it'll help him but he said what he
05:02said for about a week to a week and a half I was trying to line up all the press
05:07around the documentary the participation of the boy in the documentary Gavin of
05:13Arviso is a key element in how it's all going to work so the idea is we're going to capture an
05:20interview with the Arviso family to show that there hadn't been improper contact or conduct between
05:26Michael Jackson and Gavin it was essentially to get this interview done before the tabloids
05:34get a hold of this family my first task dealing with the Arviso family was to go pick up the mother
05:50Janet Arviso and bring her to Michael's videographer she was very upset she was
05:57complaining about the family and all their dreams are shattered now because of this we started pretty
06:07late in the evening I talked the family through what we're going to be talking about basically
06:13just giving them a rundown that this is a total fluff interview but we want you to be honest
06:17the family is supposedly totally on board but the mom won't start the interview because I need signed
06:40model releases before we can do the interview but she didn't want to sign the model releases
06:47why don't you sign a model release money all right so is she worried that she's not going to get a
06:56piece of this if we sell this footage and then suddenly she's on the phone with lawyers at some
07:02point someone tells Janet that it's okay for us to sign the model releases and to film the interview
07:10wait wait wait you know how these Bashir hey you know how Bashir zoomed in on on him holding hands
07:19do that the same thing because you know because because that's what a mother does with a son or a
07:26father does with a son you know and they try to make it out to see be something wrong and dirty so
07:32you can have that when I first met Michael all I thought was he was a loving kind humble man and
07:40and all he wanted to do was good as I'm doing an interview I really do feel like Gavin is very
07:46sincere he treats me like he's he's my father he he gives Gavin advice and Michael isn't exactly an
07:58unanswered prayer to my children and me Michael is there for us there for all three of them Janet's
08:06just over the top I dislike her immediately every door closed on us and Michael said all my doors are
08:15open my home is your home and your children I am like their father and his interactions with my
08:26children we're all innocent as a father interacts with their children where she really loses my
08:34credibility is just how she's suddenly adopted this idea that Michael is that a real father either this
08:42mom is completely in love with Michael Jackson or she's driven by the world of Michael Jackson
08:51possibilities it disturbed me greatly when I saw them and the innuendos he was making they took a
08:59beautiful relationships relationship that he has with Gavin and spun it out of control we completed the
09:07interview but then the director of photography would not give me the footage this interview was obviously very
09:15important and he wanted Michael to pay him so unfortunately it never went into the Fox special
09:22it wasn't a good situation with tabloids hovering around everybody at the time I had a strong feeling
09:30that I didn't trust Janet so I am absolutely worried that this is the type of person who might take money
09:37to say Michael Jackson blessed my kid cuz there's a lot of money in that I have very few friends and
09:59friends that are family to me are because they have exhibited honesty trustworthiness love this video I've
10:09never seen it I don't know how you guys got all this and that is why we are very thankful and appreciate that
10:18Michael calls us family because he exhibits all that and he gives these boys much direction because
10:2412 and 13 they made a whole bunch of it so what you're seeing in Janet here she just truly wants
10:34this all to be true because this is just a godsend that there would be a male influence in her children's
10:41life who was kind and caring she says things very dramatically but Janet really feels what she's saying
10:47I know her that's what she feels you know she had been going through a lot of stuff she was getting a
10:53divorce Gavin's father had been abusive to her and the kids so at this point the idea that somebody
11:02this important would value her children and parent them that was meaningful to her like extraordinarily
11:09meaningful to her at the time she craved it after the Martin Bashir documentary aired I became concerned I
11:22start calling their numbers are disconnected I didn't know where she was clearly they were at the
11:29center of a hurricane anybody that had any kind of show would have wanted to talk to this family
11:37Michael Jackson's team would have wanted to keep them contained
11:42okay everybody that two-hour documentary on living with Michael Jackson is still making news Michael
11:54Jackson's image has taken a brutal beating over the past few months as you know
11:58among the madness of Bashir I get a phone call hey we're gonna go to Gary Indiana and visit Michael's
12:12child at home any kind of distraction give them some new Michael Jackson stuff that was positive I
12:17would like to officially on behalf of the men and the women and the young people of the city of Gary
12:24welcome back home mr. Michael Jackson I am the biggest fan well probably not the biggest because
12:31there's a lot of them here but I just love Michael Jackson just his persona he loves children I just in a good
12:38way he loves children he uh let's see here role model and I love him I originally thought we were going
12:46because he wanted to visit his hometown but as it turns out it was to capture footage of Michael's humble
12:55beginnings because that was what the narrative was going to be it was like gonna be the sickly sweet
13:00you know you know here comes the king you know like wah wah the management of Michael's image that's the
13:09number one thing when you saw Michael's childhood home it was pretty rough you know we're talking to
13:17to a small two-room home where 10 or 11 people lived Michael grew up in abject poverty certainly in an
13:25age of discrimination opportunities for black men and black families especially was were very limited
13:31but the one thing that really affected him was his relationship with his father father he did some rough
13:39cruel the way he would beat you he would make you strip nude first so when when the flip of the of the
13:49iron court hit you would just you know all the face your back everywhere he would tell us don't call
13:58me dad I'm Joseph I never felt love from him oh I want his his uh his his love his approval I think the
14:11broken relationship between father and son was monumental there were really like two Michael Jackson's one
14:18needed love and validation the other needed attention and celebrity everything is already geared up like a
14:30machine all this love it's all orchestrated to get support from the fans you know because they would
14:38defend him no matter what the Gary Community School Corporation welcomes home the king of pop Michael Jackson
14:46the intrigue surrounding Michael Jackson it continues tonight would you let your son or daughter stay
14:55over at Neverland no and I can't understand why these other boys parents allowed them to either I believe
15:00that child welfare services should interview every child that has been at Neverland with Mr. Jackson in
15:06his bedroom the tabloids are still foaming at the mouth and there was a sense that you want to keep
15:14Janet Arvizo who seems like a bit of a live wire as far away from tabloids and people with checks as possible
15:22the Arvizo family is surrounded by handlers they're getting carted around by people inside the Jackson team
15:35and there is a controlled element of making sure they don't talk to people that they shouldn't be talking to
15:47I would bring Janet and the kids back and forth between the Neverland ranch and LA I was told to spend my time with
15:56assisting Janet Arvizo whatever needed to get done I drove her all over the place the Arvizos are okay with it at first but slowly they start to you know become resentful of being controlled no no no you don't go get your groceries we'll do it with you
16:22and then I was told that Vinnie was going to help them move and I go why do they want to move well we
16:35need a better location we who's we you know so this is a this is curious language the Arvizo family we're
16:45getting a lot of pressure from the press and there was a need for a place where they can stay where
16:52they can feel safe there was also a lot of talk about taking the family on a vacation Vinnie was
16:59running around getting passport photos and I thought that was probably a really smart idea as well and to
17:04make sure that this family is off in Mars as far away from the press and the tabloids as possible
17:20I'm being asked wouldn't you like to let go to Brazil like no why is the family being coaxed to go to Brazil
17:28there is this plan that's going on but who's the guy behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz nothing's
17:36going to get done without Michael's approval he knows what's going on
17:41one day I get a frantic phone call from Janet who is being kept somewhere and whispering she was
18:02panicky she wants me to come to where she is and get her and the kids and bring them back to my house
18:09she sounded desperate and I felt her panic for her own children
18:19she felt they were keeping her family at Neverland and that they were going to send
18:24them to Brazil and make the family disappear and it's not like you can call the police and say
18:31you know I think there's a family being held against their will by Michael Jackson
18:38I don't know there's that's a 911 call that's going to be put through I had extended to her you
18:47know call me in 24 hours and then I would have um better resources in place and she never called
18:56when I became involved with Janet and her family they were allowed to go anywhere they wanted and I
19:14would take them wherever they wanted one day she said please uh bring my children down to their uh
19:23grandparents house my grand her my mother is sick I didn't think anything of it after that day we
19:31hadn't heard from them they were done with us and we were finished working with them and that was it
19:39that they were going to leave anywhere anytime any any any day
19:44when I finally heard from Janet she told me about the danger that she felt had been visited upon her
20:01family they had been kept at Neverland for three weeks or so and when Janet got her kids home
20:08they were not behaving normally Janet spoke to a lawyer he heard enough and saw these boys and thought
20:19I don't like the way this is sounding at all
20:22I told Michael don't work with kids work with their parents it's their parents are supposed to be leading
20:29them you're not the child's Messiah I always feel that I don't want the parents to get jealous because
20:36it happens sometimes and I always say I'm not trying to take your place I'm just trying to help and I
20:41want to be a friend and the kids end up just falling in love with my personality sometimes it gets me into
20:47trouble in 2003 I was a senior prosecutor in the district attorney's office I was the supervisor of
21:05the vulnerable victims unit one morning I got called in by the district attorney he handed me a
21:12two-page report and I'm looking at it and it seems to be kind of the ordinary preamble that you see in
21:18these investigations and I don't understand why I'm sitting there looking at this thing it's like
21:23dozens of other cases I've looked at and then I look at the top that has the name I'd never went to the name
21:29and the name was Michael Joe Jackson the sheriff's office in Santa Barbara County had started an
21:36investigation and allegations made by Gavin you sit right there buddy again can you tell us what
21:52your conversations what what you guys talked about he says that I know you're stressed out about all the
22:01stuff that's going on so I'll have to relax you well I you say drinking I said what's that and he said
22:08it's it's it's stricken so I drink you I don't like taste and ask me what is it he said it's wine
22:16it'll help you just keep drinking okay I'm drinking it and my head started hurting and stuff I felt
22:24so Gavin Gavin talking about alcohol use it was a grooming situation in that interview he exhibited
22:32to me the typical if you will demeanor of somebody that's been abused you know the shying away from
22:43the questions not wanting to talk about anything keeping himself closed up during the interview
22:49he said he said that boys have to be like boys have to masturbate because if we don't like
22:58we can go crazy he said that he wanted to show me how to masturbate he wanted to show you how to
23:06masturbate okay okay I said no then he said you do it for me okay

24:58there are surprising developments at the home of Michael Jackson authorities are serving a secret
25:16search warrant at his ranch near Santa Barbara California although there is no official word as
25:21to the nature of the warrant a number of news outlets are reporting that the search is tied to
25:25allegations from a 12 year old boy that he was molested by Jackson I was watching CNN and I saw all
25:33of these police entering the gates of Neverland investigators have swarmed Jackson's Neverland ranch
25:40Target Neverland is underway I picked up the phone and I called Michael he was in Las Vegas and I said
25:48Mr. Jackson are you okay and he says yeah why I said they're raiding Neverland he says what
25:55I said turn on CNN you'll see it there it's alive they're raiding Neverland
26:01Michael was really shocked and I'd never seen anything like it I mean the gate of Neverland is a good
26:11mile from the house and here's this string of cars and to me it's just abuse it's harassment the media
26:21has set up camp out here we're told as many as 60 investigators are inside at this point searching
26:27the ranch it was a very large operation I was a newly promoted detective I was a big Michael Jackson
26:38fan fan as a teenager when Michael Jackson would come out to perform you can imagine teenage girls
26:46screaming at the top of their lungs that's what we were doing when I was told about the allegations
26:52against Michael Jackson I was kind of surprised I was assigned to search the main residence
27:01to me Michael Jackson was just another celebrity when you're dealing with celebrities you have
27:15accusations that are made and you have to take those accusations with a grain of salt you have to do your
27:21investigation this is Michael Jackson's mansion was like no other house I've ever seen there was just so
27:43much stuff everywhere my assignment was going to be going into Michael Jackson's bedroom somebody
28:01said now he's moved upstairs rather than down here yeah so we'll also we're gonna have to check out
28:05let's just secure everything right now Gavin had disclosed that there would be a briefcase with
28:12pornographic magazines that were used by Michael to provoke an arousal those items as we refer to as a
28:22grooming materials my job was to do library first thing that caught my attention it was all cluttered
28:34boxes of books on the floor the books I remember seizing were books of children
28:42posing posing in their underwear in and of themselves they're not child pornography they weren't posing
28:49together in sexual acts or anything like that but based on the investigations I'd done in the past to me
28:55those were grooming books you know we'd found books like that in other situations we also
29:05found a pair of underwear briefs stuffed in a box they were either very small adults or children's briefs
29:15we asked the housekeeper and where's the bedroom that's when we were told no one was permitted into his
29:24bedroom and nobody had a key for his bedroom we were able to make entry
29:37and when we walked in it was a mess papers clothes covering the whole floor I found some pepperoni
29:52sausages that were just thrown in there I remember thinking oh my gosh this is filthy drawers weren't
30:01closed right you know I'm sure everyone has a junk drawer there were a lot of junk drawers if you would just
30:09stuff thrown all over in the area where the grand piano was that's where I located a briefcase opened it up
30:23and there were some magazines with pornographic materials in them so that was a significant item because
30:33it supported what Gavin said you know in that moment your whole point of the investigation is to seek
30:43the truth when you talk about an innocent child who's been taken advantage of that's gonna stir anger in
30:50anyone and I think that Gavin was very courageous to be able to come forward and say what
31:04happened first piece of items a piece of luggage black leather type of materials there were several items that
31:15were taken away as evidence the caliber of this investigation really hit me of oh my this is Michael Jackson
31:32there's definitely the the feeling even now of the intensity of the investigation so it's just all
31:40surfacing that emotion again I wasn't expecting anyone to be honest with you
31:56throughout the night the search continued patrol cars gliding past banks of reporters camera lights
32:14illuminating the perimeter of the 3,000 acre estate when we heard about the raid on Neverland

32:28allegations were reportedly made by a 12 year old cancer victim who said that Jackson gave him booze and
32:34pills at Neverland Ranch I just I couldn't believe it was Gavin I just was devastated tonight Jackson is wanted by

33:12after landing just a few moments ago at the Santa Barbara airport he is now en route to the Santa Barbara jail where he is about to be booked and processed
33:26the media circus it is in full swing reporters cameras and helicopters have been chasing the Jackson story around Southern California Michael Jackson under arrest
33:35it is the shot scene around the world fingerprinted and photographed Michael Jackson like you've never seen him before
33:43his lawyer says Jackson is innocent and outraged
33:46I was shocked Michael called me from the jail he says but can you believe this I've done nothing wrong and they have me all over the news
33:58well I said you know you just be you and you do what you need to do don't be afraid to defend yourself he's come back
34:09specifically to confront these charges head-on but I'm here to tell you today and Michael has given me the authority to say on his
34:16behalf these charges are categorically untrue thank you very much
34:20when I asked him point-blank what is this about who are these people did you do this and I saw
34:31just how strong and and and how the conviction of his speaking to me I knew he was innocent I knew it after he
34:48was processed he snuck out the back door through it all the fading King of Pops still manages to wave and flash the victory sign
35:01went right from the jail to the airport the same plane he flew in on he flew out on and now Fox has confirmed he is now back in Las Vegas
35:10at this point in time the Arviso family were in an apartment in West LA they're very isolated over there the
35:22children are not going to school and so I begin visiting Gavin was a different person he was very different he was
35:33subdued and his way of letting me know that what he was saying was true in his 14 year old way was to say
35:52say he got me drunk I was drunk it seemed like how a 14 year old would tell you this happened because I
36:08wasn't in my right mind and I don't want you to think any less of me it was just devastating
36:17I did not believe in any way that Michael was even capable of doing something like this
36:28I love this family and and by extension loved him there had been allegations against him in his past
36:37with a boy Jordan Chandler but they went away this isn't the first time Jackson has been accused of
36:43molesting another child molestation 10 years ago Jackson had been accused of molesting another child
36:47but the case was settled out of court this time because the Bashir documentary was fresh in everybody's
36:54mind and what stood out was that boy Michael was being so affectionate with him you had to know that
37:05they were going to go all the way with this one that he's going to have to face the music in court
37:09all this is going on and um I'm still like okay we got to give Michael the benefit of the doubt
37:17we just want to let Michael Jackson know that he's got friends here in Santa Barbara
37:22I'll never believe it it's just impossible MJ would never hurt a child MJ is the kindest person in the world

38:17was done and there was no evidence that there had been um any kind of harm that was done if you if
38:23you saw what they did to my arms it was very bad what they did I just remember thinking how absurd it
38:36was and I thought who in the world would believe it um but apparently there are I mean if you are a
38:42believer of Michael Jackson you'll believe what he says and doesn't matter how preposterous it is
38:47before I would hurt a child I would slit my wrists I would never hurt a child he's totally false I was
38:54outraged I could never do something like that Michael's biggest attribute he could make you feel
39:03like so sorry for him what time is it because I'm hurting I don't feel good all right he had this
39:14aura about him this we're I know when I've been in his presence I felt like oh boy you know people
39:24should leave Michael alone this is nothing but a modern-day lynching this is what they want to see
39:32him in handcuffs you got it but it won't be for long I promise you
39:36you got a bunch of racist I'm sorry racist rednecks out there who don't care about people we are a
39:44family my mother is very angry we're all angry and we're gonna put our soldiers and our generals
39:50together and prepare for war that's what this is when Jermaine came out and called the modern-day
39:55lynching in the moment I thought that's a stretch and it was just to get attention it was just to try
40:02and galvanize particularly black America because when you mentioned lynching it's going to hit here

40:29so much I have seen the evilness in man how vindictive man can be how cruel how abusive how judgmental how
40:41they have hurt me and and done all these things and what's made me hold on what has saved my life is
40:49the latest bombshell in the michael jackson case centers around jackson's closest business associates
41:03and whether or not they were behind a plot to abduct and silence the accuser and his family abc news has
41:11learned that prosecutors are focused on two men vinnie amin and frank tyson both longtime jackson
41:18and associates according to sources familiar with the case amin and tyson are being accused of using
41:23pressure tactics to try and silence the alleged victim's family kidnapping and hostage is horrible
41:31devastating it was wrong they went too far with that word when it came out the media said well they can
41:43just follow an arrest warrant right on the fly in California I mean I was scared I was 22 years old
41:49we included a conspiracy to commit kidnapping because in a conspiracy you can put in a lot of
42:03information that paints a very compelling story the conspiracy to commit kidnapping was the efforts that
42:10Jackson and his crew were making to remove the family from the state of California and from the
42:16United States to take them down to Brazil where they could not be discovered by police by law enforcement or
42:23by the press when someone asked me how I feel it couldn't get worse it just kept getting worse worse worse
42:34worse Steve Robel from the Santa Barbara sheriff's department he wanted to ask us questions he left
42:42voicemails for us hey this is for Frank hey Frank sergeant Robel for sheriff's office I'm sure you're aware
42:50since you're with Vinnie over there uh the bottom line is is that uh you know I know how you how much
42:56you're involved in this the same with Vinnie and give me an opportunity to come clean and meet with me
43:00the ship sinking fast and it's not just Michael uh there's other people we're looking at I think
43:05you know what your involvement is in this thing so they were a little threatening they basically were
43:12like you know jump on board or we may file additional charges we were worried that maybe we would get
43:19searched Frank and I decided that we were going to bring to the attorney any business items we had that
43:26were associated with Michael Jackson so Frank handed me a bag ends up I take it back to my house because
43:34there was something suspicious that I didn't like and when I opened up the bag I found this magazine
43:44it was a naturalist magazine with a video ordering section that had naked kids in it and there was
43:51circles around the videos to be ordered that was just a devastating blow for me that was a psychological
44:02hit that I never you know now I see how this case is going and all of a sudden I see that and I came to a
44:10conclusion that everything has been lied to me now this is the realm of sexual abuse of children
44:18you know now it became very real to me and it became very real real that Frank knew about what's going
44:30on and he's not coming forward I know Frank was manipulated but being associated with Michael Jackson who
44:47was victimizing children it's like a wound that opens up and then when you open that wound it affects
44:55you psychologically so I guess I've done a lot of work on it to heal that wound but I think it would
