00:00your life. Lord Sugar is on the hunt for the next big thing. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.
00:08Battling for his backing, some of Britain's brightest prospects.
00:12Come on boys, get up. Your life depends on it. And then hit him. It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:19I can sense a bit of friction. Absolutely. Daniel, was that on you? No.
00:2520 candidates. Never been kicked in the balls by a goat to be honest with you.
00:28Ooh. 12 tough tasks. This is a complete and utter joke. Just jump straight in.
00:36One life-changing opportunity. You're fired. You're fired. You completely messed it up. You're fired.
00:50Previously on The Apprentice. I'm sending you to Hong Kong. You have to go and find nine items.
00:58A tough first task. Ryan, come on. Go, go, go, go, go. Saw the candidates crumble. We're yet to find an item.
01:05Are we going up or down? And a dismal performance from Nicky's team. Where is the driver? We don't know.
01:12We've lost our driver. Handed Kieran's boys a hollow victory. I don't call this a win. It's a bloody
01:18disgrace. Leaving Nicky. You only got one item. And Georgie. You leave me nowhere to go. In the
01:26firing line. You're fired. You don't know how serious this is until you're sat in front of Lord Sugar
01:31and you're fighting for your life.
01:404.30am.
01:43Good morning.
01:44Good morning. Lord Sugar would like to meet you at the Paddington Bear Experience in central London.
01:50The cars will be outside in 20 minutes. Right. Thank you.
01:55Wakey, wakey, everyone. Go on, John. John. Wakey, wakey, right in the sky. We're off to
02:01Paddington Bear Experience in 20 minutes. Oh, God. What do you think it's going to be?
02:06I think it's something to do with kids. All right, let's go.
02:09I don't know what class this is, but I'm ready for it. It's when we have to speak to girls. I'm
02:16sharing first. I'm a bit concerned, though, because two of the girls have just left. We can't leave.
02:22Yeah. I do not want to be back in that boardroom because I will throw someone under the bus. I'm
02:27telling you now.
02:38The ladies right now, I know they're going to try and get vengeance. Mate, I don't lose.
02:49On the banks of the Thames, the Paddington Bear Experience.
02:53A place for family adventures and marmalade-filled mischief.
03:07Good morning. Welcome to Storytime. Lawrence?
03:12Thank you, Baroness Brady. Karishma.
03:24Are you sitting comfortably? We should begin.
03:32Once upon a time, there was a very clever businessman who had a big pot of gold to share. To decide who got
03:40the gold, the clever businessman asked 20 candidates to complete a series of difficult tasks. Sure
03:49enough, a winner emerged. Someone who shone through and worthy of the gold. As for the rest of them,
03:57well, the clever businessman banished them from his boardroom and they were never heard from again.
04:03Anyway, that's enough of that. The kids' storybook market is worth 800 million in the UK alone.
04:13So for your next task, I want you to create a story for four to six-year-olds. You'll need to produce
04:20a book and an audio version to go with it. Tomorrow, you'll be pitching to retailers and the team
04:27that secures the most orders will be one step closer to living happily ever after.
04:35Now, ladies, you lost two of your team members in the first task, so Lord Sugar would like you to pick
04:41one of the boys to join your team. Have you made your decision? Yes. And who is it you're selecting?
04:52Levi. Levi, please join the ladies team.
04:59All clear? All clear. Off you go. Thank you.
05:03Two days children's story. Thank you for picking me. I know it's not always put your hands up, so noted.
05:12Turning tall tales into sky-high sales. Oh, kids' storybook. Kids' storybook. Sounds like a really
05:19fun task. Page one. We can just literally go wild. Let the inner child come out. Yeah. Pick a project
05:26manager. I personally would like to nominate myself to be PM. I've got a four-year-old child. Anyone
05:32else want to nominate themselves? I think because you've got a kid, it makes the most obvious choice
05:36as well. I would like to just add something. Yep, sure. So I'll put my name forward. I feel like I let
05:41you boys down a little bit last week. I think I've got some great ideas which I'd like to share with
05:45the team if chosen. Okay, let's take it to a vote now then. For Marcus, put your hands up.
05:51Perfect. That's sorted. Amazing.
05:56On the other team... I'd like to put myself forward. This is completely my bag.
06:02Setting out her story... I've got five children, all being in that age range.
06:06Property expert, Andrea.
06:10I'm a school governor, background in preschool. I mean, I have personal experience of a
06:15written book which were a giraffe and it's been a major hit. Oh, wow.
06:19Yeah. Okay, fab. Absolutely, yeah. Right, so who votes for Andrea?
06:23I think it's you then. Thank you.
06:26Aw. Andrea, have a PM. Oh, I'm so honoured.
06:31We are going to win today. I'm so excited. Honestly, if we don't get this, you know,
06:35I'll happily be fired. If we don't win this, we've got this in the bag.
06:39Me being project manager is just about leading the team and getting to where we need to be, yeah.
06:47Along the corridor... I've got a story idea, I think.
06:49Next for the boys...
06:51So mine is Geno Giraffe. He's on a spaceship and his whole end goal is basically to have a poo.
06:56Flash out a plot.
06:59Do we want to go through the planets until you get to Uranus and that's where he takes the poo?
07:02Oh, no.
07:04No, no, that's... I would suggest that seeing as if someone's going to space,
07:08it should be a human. We should go astro.
07:10Can I just have one more idea? My concept would be going off something that's already there,
07:15going up to the three bears. Every room is a different...
07:17Like, this toilet's too big, this toilet's too small, this toilet is just right.
07:21Good, good. I'm happy with that. Love that.
07:25The team are talking about astronauts, they're talking about toilet humour,
07:28but is it an inspirational story? Is it a spin on a fairy tale?
07:32At the moment, I've got a lot of Martians, but not a lot of meaning.
07:35Perfect. Guys, so, to finalise, there's a boy called Astro, five years old,
07:39goes into space and, essentially, he's trying to find the perfect toilet.
07:44Brainstorming their bestseller...
07:46I had just a quick, brief idea.
07:48The preschool children, four to six, are going to be starting school.
07:52Project manager, Andrea.
07:55Could be a book about starting school, about them being nervous,
07:58trying to alleviate any worries and anxiety. That's just an idea.
08:02So, my idea is about a zebra that doesn't have any stripes.
08:07So, he's on a journey in the jungle, and along the way,
08:10he meets different animals, and they end up giving him a stripe,
08:13so it's, like, coloured stripes.
08:15I do like that idea.
08:16Are we not using the school thing about...
08:18What is your decision? What do you want?
08:19I think we need a main character, which could be a zebra.
08:22Yeah. Then we're, like, worried about what we're going to have for the lunch.
08:24Yeah. Can I just say, right now, I'm seeing it as if there's two ideas,
08:28where does the zebra do zebra-like things in a safari,
08:31or do they do things that children would do in a school?
08:33They're just bringing the school into the safari.
08:35Children would go to school. Yeah.
08:37They've got an idea about a zebra that has no stripes,
08:39and he gets his stripes, and then they're talking about
08:42the zebra being in a school.
08:44I think they've got a basis of an idea,
08:46but I don't think it's very well thought out at this stage.
08:48We've got those. Yeah, I think it's a great story, guys.
08:51I love it.
08:55Marshaling his main characters.
08:57Going into the story team, we have Town, we have myself,
09:00we have Harry, we have Lawrence, and we have Connor.
09:03And everyone else is on design team.
09:06Business owner, Marcus.
09:08In terms of sub-team leader, I will like to make Kieran.
09:13You'll be sub-team leader, because you did put yourself forward earlier.
09:15Yeah, happy with that.
09:16And do you mind your rationale behind that?
09:19I mean, does he have a design agency, or...?
09:22Are you putting yourself forward?
09:23Well, because I do have a design agency.
09:26I do a lot of branding with my own company, and so...
09:28I do understand, Dan. However, due to timing, please,
09:31if we can just respect the decision for Kieran to be sub-team leader,
09:34if that's OK. So sorry about that.
09:35Thank you. Right. Amazing.
09:39I do have a few concerns.
09:40I think with Kieran being sub-team leader,
09:42it might just be his way or no way,
09:44and he doesn't have a marketing or branding background.
09:46So I can't really see what skills Kieran's bringing to the team
09:49as being sub-team leader.
09:50Right. Let's do it, boys. Let's do it, boys.
09:52Come on.
09:54Who was the preference of going on the design team?
09:57OK, so the rest of us would like to go on the story team.
10:00Yeah. I would like to put myself on the sub-team leader,
10:02just because I have a lot of experience in illustration and design.
10:05Yeah. OK, sub-team leader. Welcome.
10:08Right, guys, please remember, we're a team,
10:10and we're going to win it as a team, OK?
10:12We've got to, guys. Sorry.
10:1610 AM.
10:18While half of each team head off to create their character...
10:21We haven't got an idea of what Marcus wants in terms of the creative.
10:25Yeah, I think we have to probably just make a bit of an educated decision on what we think.
10:29..the rest will pin down a perfect plot.
10:33This isn't about creating a sales pipeline. It's about creating a sales poop line.
10:37No!
10:39One, two, three, poo!
10:44Central London. Base for both design teams.
10:49Publishing house, Bonnier Books.
10:51Morning. Good morning. Nice to meet you.
10:53Hiya. Hiya.
10:54Honing in on a hero.
10:56What ideas do we have for names, girls?
10:58I think it's a zebra, like a Z name.
11:01Roxanne earns her stripes.
11:03I was thinking something along the lines of Zabori.
11:06Oh, that's nice, yeah.
11:07I think it's a strong name. I'm happy with Zabori.
11:09Yeah. OK, yeah.
11:10All right, so we've got Zabori the zebra.
11:13Without a clear steer from mission control...
11:16So, Astro the astronaut, if you can now draw a body for us, you know, almost like a...
11:21Yeah. OK, got it. Yeah.
11:23Sub-team leader Kieran takes command.
11:26OK, let's get some colour on.
11:28So, please, can we have...
11:30Sorry, sorry.
11:30Suit silver.
11:31Everyone, stop a minute.
11:34Please, can we get some colour on the body?
11:35We're going to go for a red cuff, a red neck and a red boot.
11:44In terms of main colour, guys, let's get him his suit orange.
11:47That colour, I associate it with, like, being in prison, you know.
11:51But four- and six-year-olds aren't going to know what people wear in prison.
11:56Dan has told everybody he's an expert at designing,
11:59but when he's coming up with suggestions,
12:01the sub-team leader is actually shutting him down.
12:03I think he wants to get on with completing the task,
12:05rather than listening to members of his team who might be able to help him.
12:08Let's go outrageous on the colour for the flag.
12:11So, what about green?
12:12I'm not sure if green might be too contrast.
12:14Right, so, can we make the flag green?
12:21Tile Yard, King's Cross.
12:22So, Astro has been travelling for a very long time.
12:26He really needs a poo-hoo.
12:27While Astro gets off to a rocketing start...
12:30Big letters down here.
12:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:33Yeah, yeah, perfect. Exclamation mark.
12:34Exclamation mark.
12:36For school governor, Andrea...
12:37Right, team, you know what we're doing?
12:39You've got the brief. We've took 20 pages.
12:41..a lesson in nailing the narrative.
12:44So, let's get on with the first page.
12:46Should we start straight away?
12:47What are we doing?
12:48We need to get into the story, don't we?
12:50I think we could start off with the child leaving home.
12:53And then the last sentence, maybe, of each page,
12:55we do, like, where and keep going, or it will be just fine.
12:59Could maybe the zebra have another friend or a sibling
13:01that's in a slightly older year?
13:02I think that's confusing.
13:03OK. Let's come back to what we're doing again.
13:07Why don't we bring it forward?
13:08Can I just stop it there, please?
13:10Oh, we're not going to get this done.
13:11We're not talking over each other.
13:13I'm the project manager.
13:14Everybody's contents will come into this,
13:16but we can't keep interrupting,
13:18because we've got to get it down on paper.
13:20OK? Yep.
13:22There's too many people trying to be in the limelight.
13:25That is the problem.
13:26And he's trying to pull people back,
13:28because we can't finish a page, never mind a book.
13:32Let's get starry down, please.
13:33But we can't...
13:34We can't over talk.
13:35OK?
13:381.30 PM.
13:40Maybe the glasses with the big eyes,
13:42so you can amplify his eyes and make him look extra cute.
13:44Yeah, great. Fab.
13:46So let's get our stripes on.
13:48Yep.
13:48While the girls zero in on their zebra...
13:51Oh, that's very cute.
13:52Introducing Zabori, guys.
13:53What do you think?
13:54Love him?
13:54Love him.
13:55Yeah.
13:55Fantastic.
13:57For Marcus's story squad...
13:59I think we should have the same line for all of them
14:01when he knocks on the door, like,
14:02Hi, Ru.
14:03Yeah.
14:03Can I do the poo in your loo?
14:05All hopes pinned on poo.
14:09Finally, he found the perfect loo to do the most amazing poo.
14:12The kids are going to start laughing at this.
14:14Yeah, my main fear right now is the lack of conclusion.
14:16Yeah.
14:16So what's the conclusion of this story to hit our moral?
14:18I think the end goal is that he's done the poo,
14:21and then he's fine, and he's happy.
14:23OK, that's fine.
14:24That's good enough.
14:24Yeah.
14:26I do have a fear that we have oversimplified things.
14:29We have dumbed everything down a bit more than I did want to,
14:33but that's the role of a project manager.
14:34You have to make certain decisions,
14:36and it's a decision that I have to stick by.
14:38OK, perfect.
14:39Let's just make it quick.
14:40Marcus, you have a four-year-old.
14:41Like, is this on brand or what he is?
14:43Yeah.
14:43Would he find it funny?
14:44Yeah, so he would actually find it funny.
14:49Clock ticking.
14:50Shall we get the script down,
14:51and then we can jot the pictures in afterwards?
14:54For Andrea's authors...
14:55Why should we just put...
14:57Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,
14:58because I'm conscious of time.
14:59Zavari was struggling with his shoelaces.
15:01He forgot how to tie them.
15:02Yeah.
15:03A case of writer's block.
15:06I think we're done with that.
15:07No, we can't because we need to add the slogan,
15:09but it would be just fine.
15:11I know we're doing repetition,
15:12but do we necessarily need the repetition every single page?
15:15We're not going to get this stuff finished.
15:17That's what you wanted to add.
15:18Can we just stop, please?
15:20We're never going to get this starry down.
15:22You don't even know what you're trying to do, either.
15:24You literally have 10 minutes.
15:25I know. How many pages have you got?
15:27We've nearly got...
15:28What's that? 12.
15:29I've nearly got picked 12 pages.
15:30How many do you need?
15:3120.
15:32We just...
15:33We can...
15:34Yes, but it will be just that.
15:36We're probably putting too much words on one page, like Tasha said.
15:39Can we just finish the book?
15:40Because we need to end the book.
15:42I know we've got to get pictures on,
15:43but we're going to have a book, a story we're now ending on.
15:49Towards the end, it was so sort of brutal, straight to the point.
15:52There was shouting.
15:53There was no sort of professionalism in the way she was delivering.
15:56And, yeah, I didn't like that.
15:58We just had to get it down on paper, really,
16:00or we wouldn't have had a sorry book.
16:01I feel like a lot of things changed from what we originally discussed.
16:04From this morning to now.
16:09Mid-afternoon.
16:11In charge of designing the perfect picture book...
16:14All right, moment of truth, guys.
16:16..for Kieran's half of the boys...
16:17OK, so they put illustrations on to help us.
16:19That's good. Which ain't bad.
16:21..a first look at their sketched-out story.
16:23So, you know what, it's not too busy as well, which is quite good.
16:26I'm very impressed.
16:27Yeah.
16:29For the other team...
16:30Zabori, it's time for school, said Zabori's mum.
16:35..creative differences.
16:38Zabori was struggling with his she-laces.
16:41He forgot how to tie them, but it would be just fun.
16:44Oh, God.
16:45Oh, boy.
16:47Wait, hang on.
16:47Why is there no reference to gaining his stripes?
16:50Guys, I'm not...
16:50I'm not being funny.
16:51Where is the funniness in there?
16:53But this is quite lacklustre.
16:55It's so disappointing.
16:56I'm confused.
16:57Like, the whole storyline doesn't follow.
16:59There's zero creativity.
17:00That picture that we've done there has more creativity than this entire story.
17:04Didn't Angel say she's literally written a book before?
17:07The book that she wrote must have been the colouring book, because this is a travesty.
17:10I don't know what the PM team have been doing for the past couple of hours.
17:15It seems they've been twiddling their thumbs and deciding in the last five minutes,
17:19let's write a storybook, because it's pitiful.
17:21What we got back, I can't believe they've actually handed this over to us.
17:24What we're going to have to do is crack on with what we've got, and let's hope for the best.
17:30Bringing to life Astro's hunt for a loo...
17:33So, Dan, can I leave you in charge of aliens?
17:36Yeah.
17:37Sub-team leader Kieran is back at the controls.
17:41Okay, so look, I've got an alien here, so that's my alien design.
17:45Do you want to... Should we add a bit more detail into it?
17:47Not just a two-second sketch?
17:49You know, think about it, Dan.
17:50Think of colours, think of size, think of shapes.
17:52Okay?
17:53So, in the meantime, Dave...
17:55I'm not quite sure just yet whether I think...
17:57Well, we haven't got time, Dan.
17:57Please may I have Astro and the three aliens coming down the page.
18:01Okay, Dan, describe your three aliens.
18:04Like I said, let's keep it simple.
18:05Just do one alien, we'll change the colour.
18:07That's the image there.
18:08Do you want to describe it to the gentleman?
18:12Do you want me to describe it or you can look with your eyes?
18:14I can do it, yeah, I can do it.
18:18Some of my points aren't being heard because I think he's in a frantic rush to get everything
18:21completed.
18:21But yeah, I think Kieran just needs to listen to us a little bit more and stop being very
18:25abrupt and abrasive in some of his words and the way that he's speaking to us.
18:29Okay.
18:29Next page, please.
18:30Hang on, should we not put numbers on the pages, guys?
18:33At the end?
18:34Because that's a very simple thing to do.
18:36I know, but you keep saying at the end, Kieran, but I can't see an ending.
18:39I need 24 pages complete.
18:41Once I've got images and text, we can then add, because again, it's very minimal.
18:45Zabori, it's time for school.
18:58While Andrea's team lay down the story of Zabori.
19:02Would you like my green apple?
19:06Next chapter for Marcus's Boys.
19:08Please, Roo, can I do a poo in your loo?
19:11Narrating Astro's epic quest.
19:13Do you want to do for Doodoo Land?
19:18Something like that.
19:19These guys like it.
19:20Are we in?
19:20I'm happy with that.
19:21Let's do it.
19:22Okay, fine.
19:22That's a bit too much, though.
19:24I'm picturing myself with my four-year-old son listening to his audiobook.
19:27I'm happy with that.
19:28So yeah, let's do it, boys.
19:29Yeah.
19:29Let's go.
19:30Can I get stuff?
19:31Okay.
19:35That's fine.
19:355pm for Karishma and the girls.
19:46We have to remember to do the continuation of the stripes as they add.
19:48Finishing touches.
19:50So page 11, yellow stripe added.
19:53It's on page 12.
19:54It will be just fine.
19:57This is like actually making the most out of like very little.
20:00Okay, cool.
20:01Next page.
20:02Can you put Zabori talking to the lion on that page and just let's make them both a little bit smaller.
20:08Okay.
20:08Yeah.
20:09Okay, cool.
20:09Next page, please.
20:10On this page, can we move this text down into the empty gap?
20:13Yeah.
20:14Nice, nice.
20:14That's perfect.
20:15Yeah, that looks great.
20:16Yeah, that's nice.
20:17Fantastic.
20:19It will be just fine.
20:21Yeah.
20:23Their whole concept initially was a zebra who gains colourful stripes.
20:27That whole message has been lost.
20:29It's not in the narrative.
20:31It's just a visual in the storybook.
20:33I think we did the best we could.
20:35Yeah.
20:35And to be honest, it does look good.
20:37I've seen children's books.
20:38They, they, we did well.
20:42For the boys.
20:43Okay, guys, come on.
20:44We're almost there.
20:45Let's get this done, please.
20:46Yeah.
20:46Print deadline looming.
20:48For this, guys, it's going to be 21.
20:50This is going to be page 21.
20:52A plot twist.
20:55I would also just like to, to make a point.
20:58I was actually counting the pages and we've missed like two or three of the pages out of the book.
21:03You didn't want to mention that earlier.
21:04No, because, you know, this is, this is, this is, this is, no, sorry.
21:08This is exactly why earlier on I said we should be numbering the pages so we're keeping on track.
21:14Okay, that one I think is the one that we missed out.
21:15Right.
21:16We can't do anything about it now.
21:17Okay, guys, I've got to send this off to the printers now.
21:21Okay.
21:24This team have wasted so much time.
21:26They've ended up with an incomplete book and there's two pages missing any illustrations at all.
21:30Having a book with no pictures for a four to six year old, I think is unforgivable.
21:37Yes, we've missed illustration on two pages, but we've got a book.
21:40Yeah.
21:41I think those two pages, what we can say is that kids can draw.
21:44Yeah.
21:44They can put their imagination in.
21:477pm.
21:49Stories told.
21:51We've done it.
21:51We made a masterpiece.
21:52An absolute masterpiece.
21:54I am very proud of every single one of you.
21:56Yeah.
21:56And let's just hope the design team will pull through.
21:59Books designed.
22:00The story of the warrior is done.
22:02Let's see what others think of it later.
22:03Let's go.
22:04Let's make a move.
22:06For both teams, bedtime.
22:168am.
22:17So I'm really excited to see the product that you've come up with.
22:19I'm not hoping it's going to be fantastic.
22:21Can't wait.
22:22While Andrea's team meet their main character.
22:25Okay, so I want to introduce you guys to Zabori.
22:28Zabori.
22:30Aww.
22:31I love that thing.
22:33Aww.
22:34I love it.
22:34It's really key.
22:37For Marcus's boys.
22:38The suspense is killing me.
22:39Oh, man.
22:40I'm so excited.
22:41Astro has landed.
22:44Wow.
22:45Okay.
22:46He's got a flag.
22:47What do you think, boys?
22:48Wow.
22:48Yeah, I think this is fantastic.
22:50This is exactly how I envisioned it.
22:51Well, I'm pleased you like it because we didn't have much to go on, but we just took an educated
22:54decision on what we thought.
22:55What do you mean you didn't have much to go on?
22:57Obviously, we had Astro.
22:58Yeah.
22:59That's all we had.
23:00Sorry about that, but yeah, I think this is in line with our, you know,
23:04vision of what we wanted to do.
23:05I'm very happy.
23:09Next for the girls.
23:11Bang, bang, bang.
23:13Zabori fell over his laces.
23:15His face went bright red.
23:17The big reveal of Zabori's story.
23:20It was all just fine.
23:24First impressions.
23:26I think it fits the bill.
23:27Can I just add, sorry, sorry to put a dampener on it.
23:30I just feel like it might be difficult to explain how the zebra got the stripes,
23:34because that should have been in the storyboard.
23:37My priority was to have a completed book.
23:40There were no point in having...
23:42And do you know what?
23:42We literally had ten minutes to do the rest of the...
23:45Tasha, this is what it was yesterday morning.
23:48You're interrupting constantly.
23:49With who?
23:50Because I was doing the...
23:51You're doing it right now.
23:52People keep talking over each other.
23:54And if I'm going to be honest with you,
23:56if you worked for me, you wouldn't be working for me anymore.
24:03Across the hall.
24:04He really needs to poo.
24:10The boy's toilet-themed tale.
24:14I'm just imagining, like, me and my four-year-old son sitting there reading this.
24:17Amazing.
24:20Why is there no illustrations on this page?
24:22What happened?
24:23It just got missed.
24:24And that's what I picked up.
24:25Because I was counting the pages.
24:27And you told us right at the end,
24:28and you said that you figured it out earlier and didn't say no.
24:30No, I was counting the pages,
24:33but you were so sure of yourself, Kieran,
24:35that you knew exactly what you were doing.
24:36There was whole illustrations and graphics that were missed.
24:39So, Dan, was that on you?
24:40So, no.
24:41So, who was responsible for that?
24:43I guess it was you, Kieran, were ultimately responsible.
24:46I think, yeah, that's not good at all.
24:50Those two pages have really irked me.
24:52There should have been some sort of point in which they said,
24:54actually, let's review what we're doing.
24:55I could blame individuals, but at the end of the day,
24:57it's a group effort.
24:58So, I just think, yeah, it's ridiculous.
25:00I can sense a bit of friction in the sub team.
25:03Absolutely.
25:04Because of that, I want to actually make some changes.
25:06Dan, you're going to swap with Tan to join us
25:09to do the presentation and the pitching,
25:11just because I want to supervise you myself.
25:16So, the people going to consumer research are
25:19Karishma, Carrington, Roxanne and Levi.
25:24I know that we started on a negative.
25:26Positive mindsets, let's go,
25:28because we need to do excellent today, OK?
25:30Yeah.
25:31Let's go.
25:32Let's do this.
25:339am.
25:35Today, half of each team will prepare their pitches.
25:38So, I would really like to introduce.
25:40Of course, yeah.
25:40I'm going to absolutely kick energy and emotion into this
25:42and really bring it to life.
25:44Amazing comment.
25:45While the rest gather feedback on their fairy tales.
25:50It was a bit frosty in there.
25:51There was tension between the PM team.
25:53Let's just hope that they can deliver in this page.
25:58Central London.
25:59Are we excited?
26:00Yeah!
26:02Love it, love it.
26:03Hoping for an out-of-this-world response.
26:05Everyone's got a book?
26:06Everyone's got one?
26:08The boys.
26:09He is not scared of any planet in the universe.
26:14Except for one.
26:17Do-do-land!
26:19Do-do-land!
26:25OK.
26:26I saw a few smiles here and there.
26:29But what did people think of the adventure that Astro went on?
26:32That it isn't that funny.
26:33Oh, OK.
26:34OK.
26:35Did you not find it very funny?
26:38No.
26:39Do you want to hear it one more time?
26:41No.
26:41No.
26:42OK.
26:43That's OK.
26:44This is meant to be a fun adventure book, and no kids laughed.
26:50So we're going to struggle selling this as a fun, adventurous book
26:53if the consumers of the book aren't enjoying it.
26:55We should have been funnier, really, shouldn't we, for a funny book?
26:58And there's no pictures on there.
27:00Yes.
27:03Down the hall.
27:04Shall we unveil it?
27:05Shall we unveil it?
27:06Shall we unveil it?
27:07Ta-da!
27:08Wow!
27:09Wow!
27:10Isn't he so cute?
27:11Yeah, he looks cool.
27:12Zabori's team come face-to-face with five-year-olds.
27:18Bang, bang, bang!
27:20Zabori fell over his laces.
27:22His face went bright red.
27:25But it will be just fine.
27:29Hands up if we loved the book.
27:31Was it interesting?
27:32Yeah.
27:32Super fun book.
27:33Super fun.
27:33Yes.
27:34Did you understand the bit about the stripes?
27:37So we had Zabori with no stripes,
27:40and then Zabori with stripes at the end.
27:43No.
27:44OK.
27:484pm.
27:52Ahead of the pitches...
27:54They didn't understand, like, why has the zebra acquired more stripes?
27:58They had just no idea.
27:59For both teams...
28:00We had no real laughs in the room, and there was not really a lot of engagement on the faces.
28:06A chance to check it.
28:09You know the two blank pages?
28:10I don't want to know about that one.
28:11No, no, no, no, I do.
28:12I want to know the problem.
28:13Yeah, we need to.
28:14I don't even want to think about the negatives.
28:15The whole point of Super Feedback is to get the negatives so we can work on the negatives and use it as a positive.
28:19So, lads, come on.
28:20We don't have enough time.
28:21I am going to make a conscious decision to say, let's just forget about the negatives.
28:24We are trying to sell this book.
28:25I think you should put it to a vote, man.
28:26I don't even want to take this one to a vote.
28:315pm.
28:33Arriving some of Britain's biggest booksellers.
28:37All with the potential to buy stories in bulk.
28:41Ready to launch...
28:43This is a horrible movie or something.
28:45Marcus's Boys.
28:48Welcome, everyone.
28:49We are here to present to you Astro and the Three Aliens.
28:54Ladies and gentlemen, please keep arms and legs inside of the spacecraft as we get ready to blast off out of this world.
29:03Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to ask you to count down with me.
29:07Five, four, three, two, one.
29:13We have takeoff.
29:16Good.
29:16He's absolutely awesome.
29:17So energetic.
29:20Astro needs a poo.
29:21Blue.
29:22He is not scared of any planet except for one.
29:27Doo-doo-land.
29:29Dun-dun.
29:32Oh, look.
29:33Them two are a bit frowning.
29:34Please, Roo.
29:36Can I do a poo in your loo?
29:39But...
29:39Oh, no.
29:41This loo is too big.
29:44Across town, trotting in with her tribe, mum of five, Andrea.
29:57Welcome.
29:59Erm, educational books are quite a big thing.
30:02Erm...
30:04Children from birth.
30:08It's really good to read to children, read books.
30:11It's very educational.
30:12Erm, and I think it's a story about a boy who's a zebra on his first day at school.
30:21And he's got worries.
30:22And we're sort of saying, that is fine.
30:28It was Zabori's first day at school.
30:31He was feeling worried.
30:32Bang, bang, bang.
30:35Zabori fell over his laces.
30:37His face went bright red.
30:39But it will be just fine.
30:43Zabori looked out of the window as the bell rang.
30:46Ring, ring.
30:48Guess who he saw?
30:50His mum.
30:52It was all just fine.
30:57Pitch is over.
30:58Hello, Prish, nice to meet you.
31:00Teams have one hour to secure sales.
31:03What do you think about our show?
31:04Other than the word poo, where's the funny in that book?
31:07Because we can't find it.
31:09Aiming to seal a deal.
31:11Took a look at foils.
31:12They do not look happy.
31:13Connor, I need you to go in and sweeten them up.
31:15With one of Britain's biggest bookshops.
31:18Astro and the Three Aliens, when we came up with the concept,
31:20it was really meant to be engaging.
31:22Connor.
31:24I couldn't find something in it where I was like,
31:27this is the main purpose and this is what makes this book individual.
31:31With the audio book, with the caricature,
31:33it's really about bringing the words on the page to life.
31:36I mean, before we go into that, I was going to say maybe,
31:39could we perhaps consider maybe a smaller amount of units
31:42just to see how things go?
31:44My question is, what would make them think this is the funniest thing on the shelves
31:47that they can buy?
31:48I think that's where Astro really comes into it.
31:50I mean, I mean, just to obviously go back to my point,
31:54even if we can trial just a few units,
31:57and see how things go.
31:58I think we would go with ten.
31:59We have ten units.
32:02I'm quite frustrated.
32:03Marcus trusted me with this negotiation,
32:05but trusted himself more to close it.
32:07But asking them initially for a low number,
32:09I'm lost for words.
32:12I was building the rapport, which takes time.
32:14We don't have time to build that rapport.
32:16We need to get straight to the point.
32:17I do think there is something in letting the person who's pitching pitch.
32:20On the other team...
32:24We really like it.
32:24Yeah.
32:25I think the character of Zabori is just great.
32:28While Pasha pins down a deal...
32:30The most we would take initially of something like this would be about 500.
32:32Thank you so much.
32:34Thank you so much.
32:36Trying to steer a major sail...
32:38We put a load of passion into this,
32:39because we all can resonate one way or another,
32:41especially if we've got children.
32:42Lorry driver Levi.
32:46Talking about the units of the item.
32:48So our initial order would be to order 50 copies.
32:52Could we push 200 units on the first one and then go from there?
32:58Can we go ahead with that one?
33:00None.
33:00No?
33:01Well, with you, you'll be supporting us a lot.
33:06If we could just push to 100, we would really appreciate that.
33:10Just the support to our book, if possible, please.
33:14We'll go to 75.
33:15OK, so we'll shake on that then.
33:17Thank you for your time.
33:18Thank you very much.
33:23I would love to know your thoughts and feedback, Victoria and Melissa.
33:26Can you explain this?
33:27While Connor tries to fill in the blanks...
33:30Yes, so children would be able to draw and bring to life Astro on his adventures.
33:35It honestly just looks like you've forgotten to build a page.
33:38In talks with high street giant Waterstones...
33:41It's a little confused.
33:43When we read it, we didn't know if it was supposed to be funny.
33:46Tan Man.
33:48Do you think it's something we may be able to try in one or two stores?
33:53How many?
33:53Like we could do like 50 to 60,000.
33:5550 to 60,000.
33:56No, I don't know.
33:57Could we potentially try a smaller volume and if it's...
34:00Try 10 copies.
34:01Could we perhaps try a thousand copies?
34:02No, we're not going to take a thousand copies.
34:04How many would you feel comfortable taking?
34:05I just said we could take 10.
34:08Just, I need to know, where did that figure just come out from?
34:11I had to because we needed to finish and move on to a new retailer.
34:14I know, but...
34:14I wasted time, we need to speak to other retailers.
34:16By the time you said 60,000, you scared her off.
34:19On the other team.
34:23You are actually the first online retailers that we are so interested in getting Zabori's story into.
34:29While Karishma faces client feedback.
34:32I really like the stripes. I mean, it was such a good idea, but it kind of didn't go anywhere.
34:37Talking up a deal with children's retailer Natural Baby Shower.
34:42What did you honestly think about our story?
34:44Vanessa.
34:45Well, we love Zabori.
34:48We thought it was very creative, very imaginative.
34:50And we can see that it will work for the back to school story for us.
34:53That's a big market for us.
34:54Oh, wicked.
34:55So it leans into that well.
34:57What's your usual selling units? Like, what do you normally do?
35:00For something like this, we'd probably be looking about 1,200 units initially.
35:0830 minutes to go.
35:09What did you think of the book? Honest opinions.
35:12While Rothner hears some hard truths.
35:14And I'm quite concerned by the bang, bang, bang.
35:17It almost feels like he's been shot.
35:21For the boys.
35:22You saw the pitch?
35:23Yeah.
35:23Loved it?
35:24Loved the pitch.
35:25Fantastic.
35:26Aiming to complete.
35:27I thought the pitch was maybe better than the book itself.
35:30Okay, but we all come as one, so that's fine.
35:31Yeah.
35:32Essex estate agent, Kieran.
35:35Well, I think the thing is, the book feels a bit unfinished.
35:38Okay, in terms of?
35:39I mean, there's a blank page in it.
35:41Yes, so that's for the children to open their mind and illustrate their own map of that galaxy.
35:46I don't think that's immediately obvious.
35:48Yeah.
35:48Ah.
35:49The subject matter's great.
35:50Brilliant.
35:51What four to six-year-old doesn't love poo and space.
35:54In terms of the colouring, I really feel like it pops.
35:57It is good.
35:58Yeah.
35:58Yeah.
35:59So how many would you like?
36:00I think we would put a maximum order in for 50.
36:04100?
36:0550.
36:06Could we shake on 70?
36:07I think 60 and we'll shake on it.
36:0965, meet in the middle.
36:1160.
36:1163.
36:12Done.
36:13Okay, 63.
36:14You've actually done really, really well there.
36:18I love the energy.
36:19I mean, I just like to say, guys, I do sales for a living.
36:23And there, I hope you've just seen that is what I do.
36:25And it's almost like Marcus forgot that in this whole entire process.
36:28I don't design books.
36:29Right, guys, we need another deal.
36:31Let's go.
36:31Let's go.
36:33Five minutes to go.
36:35The message wasn't entirely clear.
36:37You can see him sort of gaining his stripes, but it's not in the narrative.
36:41Right, okay.
36:42For both teams, toilet humour is a huge thing.
36:45Who as a word is funny, but that can't be your entire thing.
36:50A final push for deals.
36:52Hello, can you shake on it?
36:54Shake on it.
36:54I made it.
36:55Fantastic.
36:55Thank you so much.
36:56Can we get to six?
36:57Thank you so much.
37:00Thank you so much.
37:02We were wondering if we could get to 330.
37:04Fine.
37:05Yes, thank you, sir.
37:106 p.m.
37:11We honestly tried our best.
37:12That's all we could say.
37:13And I'm sure everyone here has done the same.
37:15Yeah.
37:15Yeah.
37:16Tonight, sales will be counted.
37:19Obviously, it's been tough.
37:20It's not been easy.
37:21But we've done it.
37:22And our star man over here.
37:24And some big numbers as well.
37:25Let's go.
37:28Tomorrow in the boardroom.
37:30The final chapter.
37:41Game day.
37:41How are you feeling?
37:42Yeah, not great after yesterday's performance, I'm going to be honest with you.
37:46There were a few people in our team pretending they were the project manager, making decisions.
37:51And who do you think that was?
37:52You.
37:58If we do lose the task, I will tactically bring in the right people in order to save myself.
38:05I didn't sleep very well last night.
38:07I'm just crossing my fingers and praying that the other boys have smashed it out of the park.
38:12Me being PM, it is putting pressure on me going into the boardroom.
38:16But I'm definitely not going down without a fight.
38:18You can go through to the boardroom now.
38:40Right.
38:41Unfortunately, Levi's sick today, so he can't be in the boardroom.
38:48So this task was all about making a kid's storybook, an audio book.
38:55So we'll start with the boys.
38:57Now, Marcus, you put yourself forward as the project manager.
39:04Is that right?
39:04Yeah, I've got a son.
39:06He's four years old now.
39:07I thought as though, also, you were really disappointed, rightfully so, in the last task.
39:11And I felt as though I'll put myself forward to actually showcase what a proper project manager should be.
39:15Yeah. So tell me, what's the story?
39:19So we left our brainstorm having a character in space who's on a spaceship who needs to do a poo,
39:24and a twist on a modern fairy tale, which we agreed was Goldilocks and the three bears.
39:28Um,
39:29Goldie plops.
39:30Goldie plops.
39:31Goldie plops.
39:32You didn't think of that one, did you?
39:34Goldie plops.
39:36Now, did you design this?
39:38We, the design team designed the character, yeah.
39:40This is Astro.
39:42So after the, uh, initial meeting in the morning, we had no, no brief in terms of what the team wanted
39:48it to look like. All we had was Astro the astronaut.
39:50I think it was a brilliant job.
39:52Yeah, we liked, we really liked the figure.
39:53Yeah.
39:54Right.
39:54So stick it on there.
40:00Astro needs a poo.
40:01Good.
40:03Checks his map for where is close, and all he sees is doo-doo land.
40:09Dun-dun.
40:12Right.
40:13Close encounters of the turd kind, yeah.
40:17Now, what did the children have to say?
40:20None of them, when listening to it, actually laughed out loud.
40:22I think what they found that was initially was a storyline.
40:25They didn't find it, you know, that funny.
40:27And then we got a couple of blank pages.
40:31What went wrong there?
40:32The problem was bad management.
40:34What you should have done was go back through it.
40:35Lord Trigger, we knew we couldn't polish a turd, but at the same time, we knew this was the,
40:40the actual book that we had in front of us.
40:42We had to make the best out of a bad situation and pitch it to the best of our ability.
40:46The retailers said it was quite a strong pitch, but they say the product let it down.
40:51Wasn't funny or original.
40:54Right.
40:55Okay then.
40:56All right.
40:57Well, I've got the picture of what went on there.
40:59Let's, let's talk to the ladies now.
41:01Now, Andrea, you put yourself forward as the project manager.
41:04I think you've got five kids, right?
41:06That's right.
41:07And also something to do with, um, a school somewhere?
41:10A school governor.
41:11School governor.
41:12And did I hear you say you'd written the book?
41:14The school had written a book.
41:16Yeah.
41:16The children.
41:17Yeah.
41:17I thought she wrote the book too.
41:18You said you wrote the book.
41:19You said you wrote the book.
41:20I meant is in the school.
41:21Oh.
41:22We wrote the book.
41:23A book.
41:23Okay.
41:24So you come up with this zebra.
41:28So we came up with Zabori being a funny looking zebra.
41:32A zebra in witness protection, I think.
41:34We just wanted the kids to relate to him and we wanted to make him funny looking and exciting.
41:42Yeah.
41:43Okay.
41:43And, um, the story team, um, I hear there was a little bit of argy-bargy going on.
41:51What was all that about?
41:52It was just chaotic.
41:53It was difficult to manage and we just weren't getting anywhere.
41:57But it was just shouting over each other constantly.
42:00Sounds like it caused, this caused more strops than stripes, quite frankly.
42:06I think the biggest issue was you lost sight of your story.
42:08Yeah.
42:09How he gets his stripes.
42:10I mean, it just wasn't in the book at all.
42:11We're dead.
42:12Yeah.
42:13The imagery carried the book, essentially.
42:15Yeah.
42:15Absolutely.
42:15Hmm.
42:16Shall I have a listen to this, this thing here?
42:19Yes.
42:20Let's have a listen.
42:22It was Zabori's first day at school.
42:26He was feeling worried.
42:28But it will be just fine.
42:32Bang, bang, bang.
42:34Zabori fell over his laces.
42:36His face went bright red.
42:39But it will be just fine.
42:43That's it.
42:44Magically, it looks like he's had a fight with marker pens.
42:49Who did the pitch to the, uh, the customers?
42:52So I started with the introduction.
42:54We'd not.
42:54You fluffed your lines.
42:56Yeah.
42:56Didn't you fluff your lines a bit?
42:58Possibly, yeah.
42:58I mean, the retailers, I think they found that the design and character is good, but the story really let it down.
43:06Yeah.
43:07Right.
43:08Well, I think it's time to see how we all got on.
43:11Tim, can you tell me how your team did with the retailers?
43:15Well, after their positive pitch to the retailers, the total orders they walked away from with five retailers committing to sales was 419 units.
43:26Right.
43:28Karen, exactly the same thing.
43:29Well, it's a shame you didn't get the story right, because actually I think you would have got huge orders, but you did well.
43:36Eight of the retailers, all of them ordered from you, and a lot more orders than the boys.
43:41Two thousand, eight hundred and fifty-five.
43:45Well done.
43:47Very good.
43:48Um, off you go back to the house, and I'll see you, uh, on the next task.
43:58Well done, girls.
44:03Bring it in, bring it in.
44:05Well done, girls.
44:09Well, I think it's fair to say at the end of this, you won't all be living happily ever after.
44:16I suggest you go off now and, uh, chat amongst yourselves.
44:21I'll call you back in later, and we'll get to the bottom of where all this thing went wrong.
44:26Yeah?
44:27Off you go.
44:36Guys, we won.
44:37Congratulations, guys.
44:38I'm well done, guys.
44:39Yeah.
44:39Yeah.
44:39Bit disappointing on the story side of things, but a lot of it, it was down to, like, the design team end of the day.
44:46So I feel like credit should be given to where it's due.
44:49I disagree.
44:50Credit is given to a team.
44:51All along, I said it's teamwork.
44:53It's not individuals.
44:54There's no point in arguing when you're not even listening to me, so.
45:06Right, boys, I'm very disappointed.
45:07I feel as though the problem here lies with the design.
45:10That's me being brutally honest.
45:11But in the brief, we didn't get, you didn't tell us, for example, colors.
45:14You didn't tell us.
45:14But this is the role of the design team, isn't it?
45:16Yeah, okay.
45:17But, like, when do I design?
45:18Yeah.
45:18I sell, and I prove myself and I sold.
45:21How many did you sell to?
45:22Sales aren't my strong point.
45:23Designing books ain't my strong point.
45:25No, no, no, but I don't, I don't.
45:26Do I design books?
45:27No.
45:28Ultimately, the failure of this task is down to Kieran.
45:31Providing us an unfinished product.
45:33The retailers were not happy about that.
45:34And as sub-team leader, it's down to you.
45:36When it came to the design, you guys did not execute it how you should have done.
45:40Everything we did, no problems with it.
45:42No, but the story didn't flow.
45:44There was no laughter when they were reading it.
45:46No one was laughing.
45:46When you read the story, didn't you all laugh?
45:48Not really.
45:49I feel that Marcus is completely putting the blame onto the design team, which is not the case.
45:55Obviously, there are aspects that we are at fault.
45:57However, the main problem lies with the story.
45:59At the end of the day, I don't think the story was a problem.
46:02I do think it's to do with the design.
46:03The retailers said it was the story as well.
46:06So, why aren't you listening to them?
46:07Like, you didn't want to listen to the negative feedback.
46:10Marcus will not listen to the experts.
46:12They did not like the story.
46:14Yes, the book was unfinished, but it's still sold.
46:16I can sell the unsellable.
46:18Yes, so I've heard a lot.
46:19I now have a very important decision to make.
46:21Let the war begin.
46:32Yes, could you call the candidates in place?
46:35Marcus, you said you became the PM, so you could show me what a proper PM looks like.
46:53Well, I'm looking at you.
46:54It's a little sugar.
46:55I mean, I feel as though I run my team effectively.
46:59I did give someone a second chance, being Kieran, to be able to redeem himself for the first task.
47:04Can I just add there, sorry, I didn't actually put myself forward as a sub-team leader.
47:09I'm in sales, I'm not a designer.
47:10You didn't turn down the role, did you?
47:11Yeah, exactly.
47:12No, I didn't turn down the role.
47:14To tell me you don't write books.
47:16As an estate agent, you write enough bullshit about the properties that you sell, that's for sure.
47:23We always had another candidate, Dan, that wanted it.
47:26But I feel as though Dan is not confident enough to lead a team just yet.
47:29That's me being very honest.
47:30I mean, Marcus, you didn't really make any decisions at all in this process.
47:34I did. I moved you from the design team to my team because you and Kieran were bickering.
47:38But that's one decision I made.
47:40Do you want to care to bring up another so I can shut you down again?
47:42Marcus, you weren't involved in any of the negotiations, were you?
47:46I actually was.
47:47So there was a point in which Connor was putting himself forward to speak to Foyles,
47:52but I thought he was taking too long to get there.
47:54So I then jumped in and I said, look,
47:56what's the minimum amount of sales that you can give to us?
47:58If I may interject there,
48:00they had a lot of obstacles with the story and the book, the design.
48:03I was just about to introduce our consumer research before Marcus interjected
48:08and asked if we could make an extremely small trial offer.
48:12Are you all missing the point here, right?
48:15That the book itself was rubbish, missing illustrations.
48:23Whose fault was that?
48:24Yes, it was sugar. That one 100% down to the design team.
48:26Yes, I take on my shoulders. The book isn't complete.
48:30However, I can't take 100% of that because it's the story and the illustration that creates a book.
48:35Yeah, I would just say, I mean, Kieran, if you were just able to listen a little bit more and take your time
48:40and stop creating a chaotic environment, I do believe we could have probably got the book completed.
48:45I have to take responsibility for the missing illustration.
48:48Hmm.
48:49Priyash, you weren't involved in any negotiations.
48:52Oh, he was, Lord Sugar.
48:54We were talking to Waterstones.
48:56They didn't have any interest in the book.
48:58Tan then got them to 10.
49:00And then before anyone could say anything.
49:01No, that's a lie.
49:02That is a lie.
49:03What happened was they said we would offer 10.
49:05And then I suggested, let's do 50,000 or 60,000.
49:08And then they said.
49:08Yeah.
49:09What?
49:09How many?
49:10So that's where it started, Lord Sugar.
49:12We then, they then said, we'll try all 10.
49:13And then, I'm still speaking.
49:14Wait, um, I have a person who suggested 50 to 60,000.
49:19Obviously, they said.
49:20What books?
49:21Yeah.
49:2150 to 60,000 books?
49:23Yes, which was probably not a good idea.
49:24Oh, my goodness.
49:25But then I said, what about 1,000?
49:27So we scared them off.
49:28Their 10 order was a consolation order.
49:31It was like.
49:32A pity order.
49:33It's most probably just because she drove them nuts.
49:36From what I can understand, in many of their stores,
49:39they've got a table with one leg shorter than the other three.
49:43They're using the books to keep them propped up.
49:46That's about it.
49:47That's about all they wanted them for.
49:49Now, um, Marcus, which two people are you bringing back into this boardroom?
49:55Um, Lord Sugar, I would like to bring back Kieran and Dan.
50:01Kieran and Dan.
50:02Yes, please.
50:03Right.
50:05Well, the rest of you go back to the house.
50:10Thank you, Tim.
50:11Thank you, Brian.
50:12What a mess.
50:18What a total mess.
50:20I'm going to be interested to hear what you've got to say
50:22as to why you brought these two people back.
50:25So if you'd like to step outside now,
50:27um, and we'll call you back in later.
50:30Yeah.
50:31Thank you, Roger.
50:36I mean, the joke is that the only person coming back from the story team
50:41is the project manager.
50:42And the story was absolutely crap, to use their own words.
50:47We're born.
50:49Um, sorry, um, could you ask Lord Sugar if I could go back in, please?
50:53That's all right.
51:00Yes?
51:00Hello, Lord Sugar.
51:01Marcus would like to come back and speak to you.
51:03OK, stand him in.
51:05What can I do for you?
51:12Um, I just had a quick contemplation.
51:16I would like to change my decision.
51:17Um, I actually do want to send Dan back home and bring in Priyash.
51:23But you already said you're going to bring Daniel in.
51:25You must have had a reason for that.
51:27So, um, initially I did want to bring Dan and Kieran back in.
51:30All right, I'll tell you what, get out there.
51:32Yeah.
51:33And all four of you be coming back in here.
51:35No problem.
51:35Thank you, Sugar.
51:36Thank you, Tim.
51:37Thank you very much.
51:42Well, that's very unusual.
51:44Very, very unusual, doesn't it?
51:45I mean, the guy puts himself forward as,
51:47wants to show himself to me that he could be a good leader of people,
51:51and yet he can't even make a decision.
51:54It's ridiculous.
51:55And, um, yeah, I mean, this Priyash fellow,
51:58his intentions are well, but unfortunately,
52:00it made no impact to this particular task.
52:03He also made no sales.
52:04And from the sounds of it,
52:05was interrupting other people trying to do the selling.
52:09Now, interesting, this Dan fellow is always,
52:12this is wrong, that's wrong.
52:13I think if you're going to do anything for Dan,
52:15if you're going to keep him in this process,
52:16you must encourage him to speak up.
52:18Yeah.
52:19Kieran, who was on the design team,
52:21he made the second-most sales out of everybody.
52:23What he can't get away from, Alan,
52:25is that he was the sub-team leader,
52:28and two pages have no illustrations.
52:30Yeah, yeah.
52:30You can't get away from it.
52:32Mmm.
52:36OK, could you send the, uh, four candidates in, please?
52:40Yeah, Marcus, tell me, why'd you change your mind?
52:54Um, so, upon contemplating, I felt as though not only should I bring in, uh,
53:00those individuals that didn't complete what they were supposed to do,
53:03what they were delegated, I thought I should also bring in those that didn't really pull their weight,
53:07or do anything at all.
53:08What do you mean?
53:09I give examples.
53:10I don't feel as though you contributed majorly to this.
53:12Do you think you should be fired?
53:13I'd certainly not.
53:14I think I told you, why not?
53:16OK, not only do I, I'm a good negotiator, I'm a good seller.
53:19You weren't a good seller, he didn't sell anything, but go on.
53:22But, like, for example, um, when we were creating Ashland Ashland,
53:24I think even Dan was there, he could, he could see how creative I was given with ideas and flowing,
53:29and we kept on getting shut down, shut down.
53:31Was he creative, Dan?
53:33I do believe he was.
53:33I think it's down to the leadership and the management style that both myself and Priyash remember.
53:37And I feel like, why don't you speak up?
53:38Are you just sitting back, waiting for people to fall on their swords?
53:42No, that's not correct.
53:44In this task, I adapted very quickly.
53:46It was a big wake-up call to myself, and I've really put myself out there in this,
53:50in this particular challenge.
53:50Where did you adapt, then, quickly?
53:52I must say, Dan did speak and share his opinions.
53:55What about you, Hiran? I mean, you fouled miserably last week.
54:00Yes, I...
54:01And you're the sub-team leader.
54:02I've done the best I could with my team.
54:05I don't think your action's shorter.
54:06You act back on a high ego, so you treat people beneath you.
54:09Last week.
54:09Are you a bit arrogant? Have you been a bit arrogant, then, towards people?
54:13I think so, and I think Dan would agree.
54:15I think he has, yeah, a few times.
54:16In what way?
54:17I mean, just not listening to people, dismissing ideas.
54:21Who do you think should be fouled?
54:22I think Kieran and Marcus.
54:24I agree, Kieran and Marcus.
54:26But two of them?
54:26Because I feel, Marcus, there was no leadership.
54:29You didn't set us a brief.
54:30We didn't have no instruction of what you wanted in terms of character, but...
54:33No, but you knew that it was a five-year-old astronaut, right?
54:36But where do I...
54:37So you just wanted the design team to go with that?
54:39You didn't want to tell us what you wanted?
54:41It's a five-year-old astronaut.
54:42Work with you.
54:44Marcus, the story is the biggest issue.
54:47There was no point to it.
54:49Yes, Lord Sugar, I know the story is not good at all,
54:51but the fact that it was finished, I feel as though it meant that we have done it.
54:55We did a lot better.
54:57Can I just add, sorry, I've admitted I take full responsibility of the book.
55:01You're sat there still arguing your story's great.
55:04No, I've clearly said that the story was not a good story.
55:07So why is no one from the story team here?
55:08Again, hold on, Priyash, again...
55:09So where's the story team?
55:10Again, I am the one from the story team that's here.
55:12OK, OK, listen, I think I've had enough for this.
55:14I'm going to make a decision now.
55:16So here's my view.
55:20Kieran, you're a typical estate agent.
55:22You might be a good salesman, but, you know, you're a failure last time.
55:29Books you know nothing about at all.
55:33Dan, I think you're quite a clever person.
55:37But I do worry that you're waiting for people to fall on their sword.
55:42And Priyash, you can talk the hoeing legs off a donkey.
55:45I don't want to hear any more. I don't want to hear any more from you.
55:50I'll breathe it.
55:52Marcus, you claim they could show me what a proper PM looks like.
55:58Well, I've got to tell you, you ain't shown me nothing.
56:04But, Kieran, I think it is regretful that there's an attitude about you
56:11and whether you could be one of my business partners.
56:15But having said that, I'm going to conclude today that...
56:24Marcus, you're fired.
56:26Thank you, Masha.
56:40Now, you three have got to up your game.
56:43OK, go on, off you go.
56:45Thank you, Masha, Tim.
56:47All right, that's brilliant.
56:53I didn't expect to be fired.
56:54I put myself over as PM.
56:56I thought it would be appreciated in the sense of, you know, I'm taking a risk.
56:59But here's where it is, onwards and upwards for me.
57:02The boys are so cocky.
57:06What's all this big man energy, all this personality?
57:09And then in a boardroom, they write about poo.
57:11Is that it?
57:24Come sit.
57:25Come sit.
57:25So, Marcus basically asked me and Kieran to come back and kind of change the decision at the last minute.
57:31And my face just dropped.
57:34I think Marcus just spoke too much in there.
57:36And the fact he changed his mind really annoyed him.
57:39Did he make the right decision? Did Lord Sugar fire the right person?
57:42No, I think ultimately...
57:43No, Dan told him to do a double, me and Marcus.
57:51Now, 17 candidates remain.
57:55The search for Lord Sugar's next business partner continues.
58:01Next time...
58:04It's all about turning poultry into profit.
58:06Oh, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan.
58:08Chicken.
58:09Chicken and mushroom pie, anyone?
58:11Versus egg.
58:12If we don't make any money, we will lose.
58:14Guys, I'm getting stressed, man.
58:15And in the boardroom...
58:17Bloody hell, you tend to piss off.
58:19Feathers fly.
58:20You're fine.
58:22Fresh from the fire, Marcus joins Angela Scanlon on BBC Two now,
58:27The Apprentice, Unfinished Business.
