00:00Well, this isn't going to make anybody happy either.
00:02A big jump in jobless claims last week to 231,000.
00:06The initial claims four-week moving average is at 212,000.
00:13And the continuing claims number rises as well to 1,844,000.
00:21So jobless claims up last week.
00:23Now, the caveat, as I mentioned, there was a caveat with the challenger numbers.
00:28There's always a caveat with jobless claims around this time of year because we're still trying to get settled out from the holidays.
00:34But if this is any indication of where we're going, it might be the start of a new trend that you do want to worry about or at least keep an eye on.
00:42Let's just mention challenger again.
00:44We lost 108,435 jobs in January, at least according to the job cut announcements.
00:53And that's the most since 2009.
