00:00Well, it looks like the folks who are listed in the Challenger layoff announcements reports
00:04aren't being laid off yet. At least they're not filing for jobless benefits. Just 202,000 last
00:11week. That is a down from 211,000 the week before. In terms of continuing claims, we see 1,841
00:19,000.
00:20That's up from 1,816,000 the week before. Basically, what we can say is there's just
00:27no change in the jobless claims numbers or the continuing claims numbers basically as the low
00:33hire, low fire economy continues. The other number out this morning, trade balance, negative $57.3
00:41billion. That's up from, well, up down. It's worse than the negative $54.7 billion that we had last
00:50month. These are February numbers. Imports rose by 4.3 percent. Exports rose by 4.2 percent, which is
00:57why it got a little worse. So even though the president's been on a trade kick and this is the
01:02anniversary of Liberation Day, we're still seeing a fairly wide trade deficit based on imports of
01:10goods into the United States.
