00:00okay we're live hey y'all happy Monday I'm Alexandra and today we are doing our live
00:08Q&A so if y'all have any questions that you want to share feel free to comment below and
00:14I'll answer them right here right now I'm gonna wait just a few minutes for everybody to log in
00:20and then we'll start answering some questions from last week so comments will pop up right
00:24here and you can yell them out to her okay so we had a few questions last week I'm gonna go
00:35ahead and get started okay so one of the first ones is I've been struggling to find a way to
00:45keep my hair protected at night in a way that's comfortable I've tried pineapples and buns many
00:50times so I find that whenever I put my hair up like that I always wake up with the headache the
00:55next day I can't tie it too loose as my hair is pretty thin and it just falls out I try to satin
01:02bonnet but that only that only really works if I put my hair up first which still results in a headache
01:07I already use a silk pillowcase too so I'm running out of ideas my hair is naturally frizzy so any
01:14tips will be greatly appreciated okay hold on we lost our internet connection okay you're good okay
01:21so the first question was about how to protect your hair at night and she says that she she's tried
01:30pineappling and she tried with her hair in a bun she's even tried wearing a satin bonnet and it
01:35slips off and it gives her headaches so I am lazy y'all when I'm asleep I like to be carefree and I've
01:43tried rather my hair and it doesn't stay on so I'm like why waste time or energy but I asked one of
01:48my co-workers and they said that they use an elastic bonnet so it's a bonnet but it has an elastic
01:53headband on it so it really keeps your bonnet in place so I would try that and if it doesn't work
02:01maybe even put like like one wrap on your hair and then put like a second wrap but also to just
02:09don't wrap it too tight because I've done that before too where I like sleep with a clip in my
02:12head or I wrap my I wrap my bonnet too tight and it definitely does give me a headache so for protecting
02:18your curls at night I would definitely suggest an elastic bonnet the next question is just wondering do
02:27you all apply your product to soaking wet hair or damp hair or maybe in another state of wetness so you
02:34definitely apply your styling products to soaking wet hair I have heard that from wavies to all the way
02:44to kinkies so it's pretty much throughout all the all the curl patterns and I've noticed that even when
02:52I apply my hair when I apply like gel and mousse to damp hair what it does is it leaves your roots like
02:59puffy but then the rest of your hair is like defined and it just doesn't look good so I have definitely
03:06noticed that it's best to just apply your styling products to soaking wet hair I know a lot of
03:11wavies they do like the upside down method and they scrunch scrunch scrunch when it's soaking wet like
03:16just coming out the shower and I'm pretty much the same too like right when I'm coming out the shower
03:20that's when I start applying my mousse to my gel so yes soaking wet hair for sure our next question is I
03:28need some product recommendations to help with clumping and definition especially for my crown in the
03:33back of my hair I definitely definitely also experience like that frizziness back there so recently I've been
03:43obsessed with mousses so one of my favorite mousses is the design essential mousse it's almond avocado
03:51I also use the curl the curl maker by Camille Rose another good one that I know a lot of curlies like
03:58is the kinky curly curling custard my ale organics has a really great twist and souffle and that's
04:05that would be more for my type four girls for your twist down your braid outs and another good gel is
04:11aunt Jackie's flaxseed gel so I gave you a variety of like custards and twisting souffles and even some
04:18gel so depending on your curl type there's a few options for you okay so for those of y'all
04:28tuning in we are doing our live Q&A so if I have any questions hair concerns struggles you want to
04:35learn more about your hair and your curl pattern feel free to comment below and I'll answer them
04:38right now so the next one is I'm looking for recommendations for mousses I have very fine low
04:47porosity 3a 3b hair that is very easily weighed down so I already mentioned the design essentials almond
04:54avocado mousse diva curl frizz free foam mousse that's another favorite and then main choice pink
05:02lemonade mousse so there are three really good mousses that I think will be great for your hair type
05:08so the next question is for the past couple of years my hair has been damaged by chemicals and heat
05:16and bleach you name it so about six months ago I decided to go completely natural no more bleach or
05:23anything what I need help in is making it more softer and defined something that doesn't include gels I
05:30don't like the crunchy filling and I also need help with growing it out faster because I want to get I
05:35want to grow it really long like everyone else in here I thought that was pretty funny so um I will
05:42definitely say the biggest thing with hair growth that I think curly girls kind of get get confused
05:50on is we're so we can get really focused on length versus like the health of our hair so even me while
05:57I'm growing my hair out it's definitely been growing like crazy only because I have implemented a really
06:03great scalp hair regimen so I exfoliate my scalp I have some scalp oils that I use um so like one of
06:12my scalp one of my favorite scalp oils is the all I need naturally um and then Briogeo we have a whole
06:18scalp line like collection that I'm obsessed with they have a really great exfoliating shampoo and a
06:24really good conditioner as well so my first thing is to start with like the health versus about the
06:30length um so really focus on like deep conditioning your hair routinely um depending on like the
06:36condition of your hair and your like weather conditions I would say deep condition once a
06:40month um really incorporate a scalp hair regimen um whether that is applying scalp oil exfoliating
06:46your scalp whatever that is I would really focus on that um and then um I want to say you said something
06:54else um oh yeah about making it softer and defined oh yeah talking about gels so I think there is still
07:02a lot of bad a lot of bad wrap around gels people think that gels and mousses make your hair crunchy and
07:10hard and flaky um but it's really just about finding the right mousse and gel for you and really seeing
07:15what ingredients there are I know back in the day everybody grew up where like the gels were like
07:21sticking to your forehead and they were really flaky and crunchy so that's not the case anymore um so
07:28earlier I shared some of my favorite gels like the camille rose curl maker the ann jackie's flaxseed gel
07:34um so those are already great gels that you can definitely incorporate they're actually
07:37moisturizing and not drying to your curls um so I have one more question and then I'm going to open up
07:45for y'all if y'all have any questions feel free to comment below and I can answer them for you
07:51um okay so the next one is I'm a boy and pretty new to this whole curly thing and looking for a little
07:58advice also if you are a curly guy please comment below because we really want to see if y'all like
08:06do y'all want more content around like males and their hairstyle because we know y'all out there so we
08:12want to definitely um have y'all join the conversation as well so back to this question I just recently
08:19decided to go with my natural hair but all this information about taking care of curls is pretty
08:23overwhelming I thought searching online for shampoos without any sulfates or silicones would be really
08:28simple but it turned out to be a nightmare any recommendations I thought that was funny because
08:36I can totally relate I feel like for so long there was like very there was so much limited information
08:43and resources and products for curly girls and naturals but now it's like on overload so it is
08:49really easy to get overwhelmed and like where do I start how do I know what what is the best fit for me
08:56um but there are so many sulfate free shampoos um so we recently did like a 30 sulfate free shampoo
09:03infographic so I can share like five for you and then I can also link that article as well so you can
09:09check those out um so cream of nature has a really good one it's criminate cream of nature sulfate free
09:17moisture and shine shampoo design essentials almond avocado shampoo is another great option
09:25um jane carter solution she has a hydrating invigorating shampoo that is really great and then another
09:36one is the myel organics uh conditioning shampoo and the last one is sasha pure healing shampoo so those are
09:47five right there um and yes there are a lot of options now but I really just think it's really just about
09:55finding out which one is better for your hair um and like and like understanding what like what is
10:00your hair really need is it needing moisture is it need that definition like really trying to see um
10:06what works best for your hair and it's doing as much research as possible and it is trial and error
10:12um so if you can get like a sample um at sally's or target or wherever you're at um definitely try the
10:17sample first before you like invest in a ton of products um so do y'all have any questions that y'all want
10:24to ask feel free to comment below and i can answer them for you let's see just making sure i got them all
10:36i think so i think that's everything on my end
10:41okay someone said hello from mexico hey girl hey
10:46and i know a lot of um since it's summertime a lot of content right now that we're doing is centered
11:02around how to take care of your curls um like after swimming and being at the beach and we just
11:09talked about how like you can definitely prep your hair before and after i think that's really important
11:14so i'll share a little bit about that too um i think it's really important to prep your hair
11:19before um so you can detangle your hair and then put apply some coconut oil in it and like wreck it
11:25through um and you can put it in pigtails you can put it in like twist and put in a bun um basically
11:31just getting it high up so that it's not um like so it's so that it's not like soaking up all the
11:36chlorine um you can put a hat on put a bonnet on put a scarf on um because your hair can also experience
11:43sun damage um so just also be mindful of that as well and then afterwards be sure to be doing a
11:50deep conditioning treatment um and really all summer be applying like coconut oil to your ends
11:58to really get that moisture back in there
12:04and if y'all have any more questions that you want to ask feel free to comment below and i'll answer
12:09them for you right now
