00:00hmm okay can I only do live on one
00:17would you rather do live on Facebook or YouTube can we do both I can't figure
00:26out how YouTube yeah maybe next time I can figure it out yeah and do some more
00:35research okay I think I'm recording so you can go ahead hey naturally curly
00:41world I'm Alexandra I am one of the nationally curly editors and today we
00:46are doing a live Q&A so if you have any questions we'll be answering them right
00:51here so leave a comment below so first thing first we've already gotten a few
00:55questions and of course they are about frizz so for type threes you already
01:02know frizz is like our biggest enemy so I'm going to first share 10 frizz free
01:11products that help you really get really defined curls one of them is the curls
01:17chaos curl cream and another is a deep conditioner by diva curl and it is diva
01:24curl heaven and hair we also have a really great styling cream which is the
01:30curl junkie curls in a bottle we another fave is confident coils by Jesse curl and a
01:41biggest tip too is using a microfiber towel so a favorite for us is diva curl
01:47but if you have any other brand of your favorite that works for you find a
01:51microfiber towel y'all it makes such a huge difference and also to finding a
01:56finishing oil what that's like your cocktail oil that you're using but one of
02:01my favorites is the Jane Carter curls on the go it's a shine elixir and it's
02:06really great for just adding that shine and moisture to your hair once you're
02:10done styling
02:12so let's see another question I recently got a haircut and started wearing my hair
02:19curly it's 3a 3b what I've been noticing it's not holding definition and it's just
02:25frizzy after my cut she's asking for any recommendations so I would definitely say
02:32the biggest thing for 3a's and 3b's like we are really trying to get those to find
02:39popping frizz-free curls and it's really all about the technique so the biggest
02:44thing I would say is really starting to style your hair in the shower once
02:50you're done washing like you are ready your hair is soaking wet and that's when
02:53you actually start scrunching using a primer such as let's see I have one of
03:01my one of my 3a 3b writers her name is Lindsay and she's sharing some
03:05techniques I'm gonna go her and her primer she likes to use the what is it so a
03:15primer such as the diva curl so I'm sorry a primer then a leave-in
03:22conditioner and then a gel and I would definitely say I just usually I just
03:25recently started using gels and gels and mousses are probably like one of like
03:30the most underrated stylers they actually really combat a lot of frizz but it is a
03:36process though so like first really finding out what your hair needs and it
03:41also depends on the season so like like like I said a primer a leave-in and then
03:48a custard or a gel depending on your hair time do you want to reiterate for people
03:52just joining what we're talking about hey nationally curly girl for those of y'all
03:56who just joined the fun so we are doing a live Q&A and this will be every Monday
04:02and we're answering any question that you have about curly hair transitioning how
04:07to style your curls product recommendations for your curl type anything any
04:14struggles girl let us know in the comments below and we will answer them
04:17right here and right now so I was just sharing we had a question about someone
04:25with 3a 3b curls and really just trying to help them with some recommendations and
04:30I was just sharing really about the technique and the products so I was
04:36referring to one of my writers who is Lindsay she's a contributor for us and
04:40she's a 3b curly and she has a great styling and drying process and she first
04:46uses a primer and all of this is like when her hair is soaking wet she's still in
04:50the shower a primer a leave-in conditioner and then a gel or a custard just
04:56depending on your hair type and like I said doing all that when your hair is
05:00soaking wet using the praying hands method when you're really you know going
05:05from root to tip and then wrecking it through with your leave-in conditioner and
05:10then scrunching with that gel and really getting it in once it's dry get your pick
05:15pick out the roots and you're good to go so if y'all have any questions feel free
05:22to comment below whether it's about you just now starting your curly hair journey
05:27transitioning how often to get trims clarifying shampoos whatever it is let us
05:33know and we'll answer right now I'm not saying any questions right now but 19
05:43people are watching okay hey guys we're still here so if y'all have any urging
05:49urgent questions you're just like girl this is my struggle right now it is so
05:54real I have not figured it out oh yeah I have curly hair but I'm afraid to wear it to
05:58school because I don't want people to tell me that my hair is frizzy or puffy
06:01girl please you better rock that hair seriously like I feel like first off
06:08don't don't be so focused on what people would think about you definitely like try
06:13your best just to be confident in your most natural state but I totally feel
06:17your struggle it took me a long time to embrace my curls and I would say the
06:22biggest challenge is finding products can you tell me what is your curl pattern
06:27like or like do you know what what curl type you are and maybe I can help with some
06:31product recommendations what are ways to prevent knotting and type 4 curls so
06:54definitely finding a good detangler so I actually have two really good detanglers
07:00that I like that work for my 3c hair but also I know Jerilyn is our type 4 editor and
07:08she likes these as well and one of them is the Oyen Oh My Glide that detangler is
07:14everything but also to like of course getting your hair wet so refreshing it with
07:20a water bottle and then adding a detangler and then of course a wide-tooth comb do
07:27not detangle your hair when it's dry like that's just the first tip just don't even
07:30try to at home sis it ain't it so Oyen Oh My Glide is one of the detanglers and
07:36another one is the satanicals I'm going blank on it well of course it is so kinky curly not today is
07:44another one but let me look up the satanicals one too because that's also my fave someone asked what are
07:52ways to prevent like hand in hair syndrome for type 3 and 4 yeah and then I got that girl and then another
07:59one is um oh people are really asking uh what uh oh god um you're like no one's here oh my god
08:07where you at uh someone asked tips for transitioning hair okay okay so first I want to talk about the
08:15detangling for the type 4 hair so I said kinky curly not today that is like holy grail since forever
08:20ever um and then we have the Oyen Oh My Glide and then there's also a satanicals
08:27also has a really good one but I can't think of like the actual name for it but satanicals
08:32pink curly not today in Oyen and then um what about transitioning um oh hand in hair okay syndrome
08:41um so it's actually interesting I recently did some research and find out and found out that by you
08:48constantly putting your hand in your hair that can lead to breakage um so that's for those type 3 curlies
08:53once you have your hair set and ready like me my finger coils are there I don't want to keep being
08:59like playing with it all day um because that could lead to breakage so I would just say it's just a
09:05habit that you have to really work on personally and like once you know that your hair is good to go
09:09you have the fluff down the volume is there like really leave it alone because also your hands are
09:14really dirty and you're getting dirt in your hair so just definitely stay away from that
09:18tips for transitioning hair um oh so I big chopped almost three years ago which is kind of crazy to
09:28believe now um but that first year girl you have to embrace that struggle life like seriously it's not
09:35going to be easy um you're still like unless you truly go for a big chop um you'll have some you know
09:41you'll have some dead ends or whatever some straight ends and curly um but really just finding products
09:46that work for you and techniques like for me the finger coil method works the best because I do have
09:51some looser curls that I want more to find in the back and the sides so just finding um finding methods
09:57that work for you whether it's finger coil or it's a braid out a twist out finding things that work for
10:02you for sure um people are asking like what you tell your stylist when you go for a haircut or a trim
10:09so definitely do your first thing first do your research on the on the stylist and really understand
10:18like what her expertise is um and check out her instagram and her website and really get a clear
10:24vision on what you want to wait before you start talking to her make sure that you have that vision
10:29that very clear vision of like what you're going for here's the length because it's been too many times
10:34for me too where I'm like take a little bit off and they're just like okay and then I look up and I'm
10:38like bald so um just really being clear and like finding a lot of inspiration of what you're looking
10:44for um and having as many examples with a stylist like in your consultation way before you make your
10:51appointment that's my biggest thing for sure um someone is asking about so they I think big chopped
11:00and they're having trouble growing hair at the nape of their neck yeah asking for tips about
11:06that growing hair um I would say really for hair growth in general really just finding a good scalp
11:13oil um because I feel like the more that your scalp is moisturized and healthy overall that will
11:19increase your hair growth um now for the neck of the neck I am not too familiar on that one but I can
11:24definitely do some research and come back to you for that um but overall I would really just say like a
11:30black a black castor oil some type of really good oil to cleanse your scalp regularly or moisturize
11:37your scalp regularly I need to say um a couple people have said that they have protein sensitive hair
11:43and they're asking for like product recommendations for low protein products and you know that's
11:49interesting because I feel like we're starting to hear that more um and I don't have an answer for
11:58that but I am totally about to look up some for y'all because I feel like that is a reoccurring
12:02question that we're getting more often so let me look that up for you so I can give y'all the best
12:07answer because that is not my expertise for protein sensitivity
12:11protein rich products but if you're protein sensitive
12:17we can always answer it next week yeah I think for sure I'll come back to the protein sensitive
12:27product I'll write that down so I can be sure to get that answer for y'all
12:31any other questions y'all have um someone said that they have 3c hair similar to yours and it's frizzy no
12:41matter how much product they put in it and they end up putting it up every day do you have any uh advice
12:47for them so I will definitely say when I when I heard putting as much products what what did you
12:54just say it's they said that no matter how much product they put in it's still frizzy yeah and see
13:00I think what I've learned too is that like less is more with products um but I can share my routine
13:07just because we do have similar hair types um so what my routine is is I refresh in the morning with
13:14the water bottle and then I add a mousse so I have learned y'all that like mousse mousses are like
13:21the key like they're really really under um undervalued really but I feel like they are truly like that
13:29for its free combat products um so finding a mousse that really works and my favorite is the design
13:35essentials almond avocado mousse and then raking that through my hair and then um and then applying
13:42a gel so then my favorite one of my favorite gels is the camille rose curl maker so then I apply the
13:49gel and then I do my finger coils and then once my hair is dry I add an oil like a spray oil which is
13:58um I would like the weed add mongogo oil and then I fluff um but then I think earlier I was saying too
14:06but it's not touching it I think more the more that you touch it the frizzier it becomes um so yeah
14:12I would really just say find a routine that works for you and then really sticking to it and really
14:16trying to figure out what product and like what and what technique works best for you
14:20if y'all have any more questions we are about to sign off y'all let us know in the comments below
