01:00world for those of y'all just joining us I'm Alexandra Wilson I am one of nationally curly editors and this
01:06is our Q&A series where we answer all of your questions about hair growth about style finding
01:11stylists your hair struggles everything curly hair we will be answering right here right now so
01:18comment below and we will answer questions so we have some questions from our curl talk series so
01:27I'm going to go ahead and start answering those one of them is what is a good regimen for hair growth
01:32and strength and some ingredients to look out for so first y'all I want to be really honest and frank
01:39with this question because I feel like people are always trying to find like what's the secret to
01:45hair growth like what's the secret you know for having long hair and it's really it truly starts
01:51with creating a healthy hair regimen there is no secret it's truly about you taking good care of
01:57your hair so really starting with creating a routine cleansing schedule deep conditioning having a
02:06great scalp hair treatment I think that's what personally helped me for the longest I did not
02:11really care about my scalp I was just like worried about the length and not the actual like health
02:17of my hair so within the past year my hair has grown so much from me actually taking a lot better care of
02:24my scalp I think I think that's really really important so when I say scalp care I'm thinking I'm meaning
02:31things such as different treatments for like exfoliating your scalp there's a Briogeo whole line that is
02:39all about scalp care treatment and there's so many other brands that have scalp care treatment so
02:44definitely look for scalp care treatments for you know if you're having itchiness dryness flakiness
02:50whatever it is really first treat that first before you're worried about length and then some ingredients to
02:58look out for so products to help with hair growth and I would say really more about strengthening your
03:04hair black seed is great because it provides stronghold it's well black seed is great because
03:12it's adding shine and curl definition but it's also really good for stimulating your hair follicles
03:17and then olive oil is another great ingredient because it's sealing and coating and also penetrating
03:23your hair follicles shea butter is an essential ingredient for curlies you already know shea butter is in almost every
03:31single hair product and that is really good for moisture and it also has some STD for protecting your hair
03:41during the summer and then of course black castor oil is strengthening your hair strengthening and thickening it
03:47so another question is what styles are low stress and easy for that transitioning period so yes y'all the
03:56transitioning period is a little rough um but it is temporary and um for those of you that are
04:02transitioning I definitely say protective styles is your go-to girl like whether it is a bantu knot whether
04:09you throw on a head wrap um box braids cornrows whatever you want to do um try it like it's so easy
04:17to get stuck in your little ponytail in your puff but there are more options out there so definitely
04:22be creative and step outside your comfort zone and try some different protective styles and hey
04:27you haven't and if you're having a bad hair day throw on a hat or a head scarf and keep moving
04:30um another one another question is the connection was lost
04:38how much time what how long have we been on oh it's it's resumed okay hey guys we are back
04:48so another question is when my hair isn't working for me for the day what do you do to give yourself
04:54the confidence boost to go out and still feel good so I I think that's a really interesting question
05:01because I do feel like our hair is our crown and it does kind of give us that boost like today I'm
05:07having a good hair day so I'm like girl you know I'm feeling myself but I'm also like just really
05:13cute like I have a bold lip you know like I have a cute outfit so it's not always just about the hair
05:19like do other things that help you feel good um you know take care of your skin you know moisturize
05:25your skin get your glow on whatever what do whatever you do that makes you feel good it's not always
05:29just about your hair and if you're having that hair day like I said resort to your hat or your head
05:34scarf like it doesn't always have to be like pop and curl like if it's not working for that day
05:39like don't let that ruin your day um oh yeah and also wigs wigs are really good to incorporate so
05:46keep those on handy too um another question is is there a product or ingredient that I could use to
05:53look that I could use or look for in a product that will keep my hair moisturized
05:59so curly hair moisture is key it's all about the moisture so one of the main ingredients is
06:07glycerin am I saying that right glycerin glycerin so glycerin um glycerin is amazing for slip like when
06:15you were trying to get your hair detangled and get knots out glycerin is a key ingredient that you
06:21should look for and when you're looking at ingredients look for the ingredients that are at
06:25the top of the list because those are like the key main ingredients that will be in that product
06:30um so glycerin is a great one for moisture aloe vera is another great option because that is also
06:36adding shine it's also sealing in the moisture same as avocado avocado oil is really good
06:43um for curlies that have a finer hair texture so like our twos and threes um just so that's not
06:49just so that it's not like weighing your hair down and then of course your shea butter your coconut oil
06:54those are more for your 3c to 4c um curlies who have coarser hair um and that is like the holy
07:03grill of moisture you already know shea butter coconut oil are like key for um providing like
07:08really good moisture hydration so another question is it's summertime here in texas and this one is
07:17actually a really good question it's about going swimming in our so the question is every time we go
07:23swimming in a pool our hair becomes one huge nest of intense knots i assume it's the chemical doing
07:29this to our hair but do you have any suggestions on preventing this from happening so there's a few
07:36things that you can do before you go swimming so the first thing is actually detangle your hair so
07:42go through um brush and detangle your hair and then if you want to i think it's really good
07:48to do a bun so a top knot you can do some twists um you can even do braids just so that your hair
07:56isn't like fully just being um like saturated with chlorine so definitely trying to actually detangle
08:04and then style before you go swimming and then of course afterwards deep condition like do a nice
08:10good deep conditioning treatment after you after you go swimming so if y'all have any questions feel
08:18free to comment below we have one or two more questions left on here and then it's up to you so
08:23if you have some questions that you want us to answer we can answer them right here right now
08:29so this question is actually like me current like me in my current space so i can definitely answer this one
08:35the question is after my big chop my hair is growing out uneven my left side grows longer than
08:40the right side what suggestions do you have so i actually big chops three years ago and i got a pixie
08:48cut and it was cute for the time being but definitely the grow out phase is not cute and that's what i'm
08:56in right now i'm trying to make it work the best that i can but my hair is really really uneven
09:01um and i asked my hairdresser i'm like so what can i do because i'm like i'm ready just to cut it so
09:06it can be even but she actually recommended that i let it all grow out and don't touch it so don't
09:11put any heat on it um and really just let it grow out evenly so for me my go-to is finger coils because
09:19it kind of hides all the different shorter lengths and different textures that i have and it makes them
09:25look even but girl honestly it's not like my hair is a lot longer on this side than it
09:31is on this side but by finger coiling it it kind of makes it look like it's like you know actually
09:37a full length style um so yeah i would just say try finger coiling it do not touch the heat and let
09:42it grow out evenly before you try to go to go to the hairstylist so do y'all have any questions that
09:51you were itching to ask about curly hair finding the stylist your struggles hairstyle inspo let us know
09:59in the comments below and i'll answer them right now we have a few more minutes before we close out
10:05but i'm happy to answer any questions that you have
10:09i'm going to turn up in the between time
10:14okay well y'all i hope y'all they're doing some work
10:20but yes we will be doing this every single monday at 12 30 central so if you have any questions about
10:29your hair journey about your curly girl struggles what products to use what methods what tips and
10:34techniques you can comment below and we will answer them next week i have a question oh okay where'd you
10:41get this cute outfit oh girl let me show you real quick so you know my top is from zara uh my pants
10:53they are from target so i was just telling nikki before we started this
10:58that target y'all has some really cute summer styles so this is not sponsored by the way but
11:05yeah we have a question oh we got a question girl what's the question i struggle with wash and go
11:12what products do you use oh so wash and go is my go-to y'all i i am a super like i wouldn't say lazy
11:22natural but i'm all about like quick and easy so i like to use mousse and gel and then i add
11:30um an oil for shine so what i do is um i wash like a good conditioner a shampoo conditioner shampoo that i
11:39like is design essentials actually i love design essentials so design essentials has an almond almond
11:47avocado line and i love their shampoo and conditioner so i use that and then my leave-in is kinky curly
11:54not today and then i use the design essentials almond and avocado mousse and i know people are
12:02like girl you use mousse like who does that but actually if you live in like really humid areas
12:08like texas during the summer the humid is like outrageous um so you really need a really good product
12:16to like really come back that frisk and give you the definition that you want so mousse is your secret
12:22weapon girl like get you a good mousse that you like um i know a lot of people think that you know
12:27mousses and gels there's some bad riff about flakiness and the crunch but find you a really good
12:31moisturizing one my favorite is the design essentials almond avocado mousse and then i follow up with a gel
12:38i have lots of favorite gels one of my favorites is the camille rose curl maker and the aunt jackie's
12:44um flaxseed gel and then i spray i finish with a oil and i use the weedad mongogo oil and i fluff and i am
12:56out the door and also if you don't have a pick you should totally invest in one like five bucks i don't
13:02leave home without it so that's my wash and go routine yeah what are good tips for retaining length for thin
13:10fragile hair oh retaining length for thin fragile hair that's well earlier i talked about so i guess
13:20it's really just about like what is what is like your biggest hair concern so like really i would just
13:27say creating a healthy hair regimen um but retaining length hmm so um i know flaxseed is really good
13:38flaxseed and casserole oil are probably like your top key ingredients that will help stimulate the
13:42follicles to increase hair growth but it's really up to you to actually create like a healthy hair
13:47regimen so are you deep conditioning regularly do you have a scalp hair treatment where you're actually
13:52exfoliating your scalp are you using a scalp oil like for long as i i was oiling my hair but i wasn't
13:59oiling my scalp so that that's a game changer for me as well that i actually learned recently
14:03um and like i said earlier in this past year i've experienced a lot of hair growth just from
14:09really focusing on implementing um implementing a scalp care treatment so i would say um just really
14:16start there and find some find a definition that works for you and find a scalp that works for you
