00:00Hi there, I'm Ty Bochamp, and I am so excited to be here at Essence Black Women in Hollywood 2019.
00:15It is the absolute best event of the year as we celebrate black women in Hollywood who lead.
00:21We lead strong, we lead with pride, and that's why Ford is proud to be a sponsor and to be here to celebrate how we are built Ford Proud.
00:29Ford has been a proud sponsor of Essence Black Women in Hollywood for many, many years, correct?
00:34Why is it important to support this event?
00:36This gives us a chance to not only celebrate our community, but also the women that are doing so well in Hollywood that may not get the platform or the stage to be recognized.
00:46I'm so excited, Dee, about this car. So tell us about the connection between art and activism and why that's important for Ford.
00:52As a brand, we're dedicated to design, but design also is a reflection of our consumers with visuals and the right content.
01:00Sometimes you don't even need words. You look at it and you get it. You know, it's empowerment, it's achievement, and it's bringing forth that voice that we are here and we are built Ford Proud.
01:12Art is a language for me. It is my weapon of choice is what I tell people and that when I pick up my brush, it's bigger than just colors. It's bigger than designs. It's for people to be reminded that they have a voice in whatever they do.
01:23You are an activist in all that you do and everything you do, you get to leave.
01:27I actually want to buy the car. I don't think it's for sale, but I do want to buy the car.
01:32It catches your eye. It just, you know, immediately, you look at it and you're like, what is this beautiful thing? It's like an art piece.
01:38If you have a platform and your art, what you display, what you love, your passion, connects with any group of people, you are an activist.
01:45I love that. What are you most proud of?
01:47I'm most proud of being a black woman. No matter what problems or obstacles we face, black women have the resolve to overcome them.
01:56Essence has the ability to capture the different stories of black women. So I'm very proud to see each and every black woman in this room being able to share their narrative.
02:13So the theme for Ford is all about we lead. What does we lead mean to you?
02:17We lead means that we create our own opportunities and then we bring each other along with those opportunities.
02:26It means this room. I mean, this is a room of people who are exemplifying exactly what it is to be proud black women of achievement.
02:34Being able to be your authentic self and showing people that it's okay to live in that truth and to walk the walk that you see and that you want to design for yourself.
02:42On your own terms.
02:43All right, guys, that's it. I'm Ty Bochamp. I enjoyed being here with you at Essence Black Women in Hollywood 2019.
