00:00Thank you so much. Thank you to Essence for inviting us to be here today.
00:05Thank you to each one of you. I'm so honored to be among the company of so many beautiful and talented women.
00:12It's such a joy for us to be here today to perform.
00:15And I want to thank a few people first before I bring out Common to do Glory.
00:21First of all, I want to thank Oprah because the first time I ever sang that song, all of me, on television,
00:27was on your show, Oprah's Next Chapter.
00:30And she told me then that it was going to be a huge hit song and everybody was going to have it at their weddings.
00:36And Oprah was right.
00:41I want to thank Shonda because she put it in the finale of Grey's Anatomy last year before anybody knew the song.
00:49And then, of course, I want to thank Ava DuVernay because we're going to sing a song that we wrote for her beautiful,
00:56outstanding, award-winning film, Selma.
01:00And this song would not exist without her vision and her powerful filmmaking.
01:07Common spoke to her about writing a song for this film.
01:11Then Common called me and asked me to write it with him.
01:15And I feel so honored to be part of this film, part of the movement.
01:20And we hopefully wrote a song that will inspire people to keep on marching.
01:25So thank you for inviting us to do that.
01:27And I want to bring up Common right now, so we're going to do a song called Glory from Selma.
01:32Goodو!
