00:00Hello, everyone. I'm Nicole Melton, your beauty editor at Essence.com. We're here at Polished Beauty Bar in New York City with Candice Monacchio of CND, who's going to show us some fun and fabulous nail trends for summer.
00:30Hi, Candice. Thank you so much for joining us today. Tell us a little bit about the nail look that we'll be creating.
00:40This look CND did for Gen Cow. It's called Lethal Love, or Pretty Poison, and it can be done in various shades, and I'm going to show you how.
00:50Okay, awesome. What tools and polishes did you use to create the look?
00:54CND's Oil Slick, Green Seam, and the two tools you need are just two gel brushes or a flat artist brush.
01:02And where do you get those from?
01:04You can get them at a beauty supply store or a craft store.
01:07Awesome. So let's get started.
01:09Let's do it. First, polish two coats of Oil Slick. On a plastic back pad, place a drop of Green Seam.
01:19Next, get a small amount onto your brush, and then in a reverse motion, swipe light strokes of the green.
01:35And why is it important to go in a reverse motion?
01:38So that you're getting the fading, the lightest part going up towards the cuticle.
01:44And the heaviest will be at the tip.
01:46Where you want it the deepest, you'll go back in and apply a second coat.
01:50So I'm going to stay right at the tip.
01:54Let it dry in between coats.
01:58Then with any eyeshadow pigment, if you really want to amp it up, take a small amount and add it into your polish and mix.
02:12And what exactly does the eyeshadow do when you mix it to the polish? How does it change the look?
02:19It's going to give it more of a dry brushing effect and a metallic look.
02:23Okay. Awesome.
02:25And then press the pigment into the color for a dry brush.
02:30Once you've created your green tip with your eyeshadow and the nail polish, how do you set the entire nail?
02:36You want to bring it all together and seal it with top coat.
02:39And for more of a summer look, try it with white.
02:43Awesome. That looks really exciting.
02:49So remember, ladies, before performing this look, you want to create a meticulous manicure.
02:55And when it comes to creating the shape, you want to have it complement your cuticle line or style preference,
03:02whether if you want it short or long.
03:04And you always want to begin your look with a good base coat and finish it with a top coat to seal in your look.
03:12You don't want to use a two-in-one.
03:14Always start with the base and finish with the top.
