00:00Hello everyone! Welcome to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Spring 2012. You are hanging out
00:13with Essence.com, front row backstage. I'm Tia Williams, your beauty editor. This is
00:18Anilay Blais, your fabulous fashion editor, and we're about to go check out Rachel Royce,
00:22so come with us. The look for the spring is a very like rose goldy, really pretty look.
00:29For the show for Rachel Royce, so we have a whole collection of beautiful rose gold colors
00:36based on our number one selling lip gloss and my wedding ring.
00:39You know, Rachel is very conceptual in the way that she knows her girl. What we've done
00:47is we have created a deep, deep, deep side part. Slicked the hair all the way really close
00:52to the head and the front, and then if you look at them from the front it looks very masculine,
00:56but if you look at them from the side and from the back, it has this kind of softness and
01:00sensuality to it. But I think every girl in America, I don't care if she's dark skinned,
01:04if she's light skinned, if she's size 14 or if she's size 2, I don't know any girl that
01:09doesn't want to look like that. So what's really great about Rachel is working with her because
01:13she brings that out in me.
01:20So the hair was really quite nice. It was a very deep side part and it was just pulled back
01:29tightly into a bun. Very tight. It was almost like the hair was a non-issue. They just wanted
01:34to keep it very, very sleek and chic. And then the makeup was just really kind of universally
01:41beautiful. She had black models, white models, all kinds of models, and it looked gorgeous
01:43on everyone. I'm quite interested in things that are so different coming together and I'm
01:48very interested currently in androgyny, but for spring, how could I do that in a soft way
01:53that didn't look like a costume? For example, suits, but then soft suits. Or suits, but then
01:58suits that are in pastel colors. And then with my floral, I wanted something graphic, a bit
02:03not quite as soft as florals can normally go. So my florals are in black.
02:08I'm going to go with the mint green. It was like a blazer that kind of draped and it had
02:13shorts to go in. I thought that was super cute. And there was also a black and white coat.
02:18Super chic. I loved it.
02:20What you saw on the runway this season is exactly what Rachel usually wears. The same boxy
02:25silhouettes, the same knee length dresses. She loves a jacket that layers over her pieces.
02:30And her strongest accessory is the belt. She belts everything. And you saw all of that
02:34and more. I thought it was very beautiful, very easy, very chic.
02:37We hope you loved it and we'll see you on the next episode of Front Row Backstage.
02:40Bye!
