00:00Welcome everyone, so exciting.
00:07Thank you for joining me on the first episode of Uncloaked for Series 4.
00:10We are obviously going to be discussing everything that happened in this episode.
00:14But Lucy, first I want to chat to you because you were amazing in the Celebrity Series.
00:18How did you find watching the first episode of the new Civilian Series now that you're not in the castle?
00:23At first, I was like, oh God, here we go again.
00:26And then, I was absolutely hooked.
00:33By the end, I was like, they have done it again.
00:37But you'll want to talk about the twist in a minute.
00:40We'll probably bring it up, I'd imagine.
00:42But that just is taking it to a new level.
00:46Totally, yeah. Total new level.
00:49This time round, there is a secret traitor.
00:51Not even the traitors know who they are, and we do not know who they are as we are watching.
00:56So everyone watching now is a faithful.
00:59Because we need to work out who this traitor is.
01:01Yes.
01:02So you've got a theory I hear, Lucy.
01:04When we watched it together, I just had to ask the group,
01:07did they say that the secret traitor was one of that cast?
01:10Because it could be Claire Balding.
01:13So you think it's not only a secret traitor, it's someone secret within the castle.
01:20You think Claire Balding is hiding something maybe in the suit of armour and she's going to pop out.
01:24Well, I did say, I said publicly online that I think Claire Balding will come back.
01:29Yeah.
01:30And then you can imagine how I felt when they said there's a secret traitor.
01:33Yeah.
01:34And in the cloak, when it was walking away, it did look like Claire Balding's walk.
01:39And I thought that's why you made me move up, because she's going to sit here.
01:44So you thought, we are going to reveal the identity of the secret traitor in this episode of Uncloaked and it's going to be Claire Balding.
01:50Yeah, I'm just so glad they've done this, because you know, you won't know this, but it's so infuriating when people are like, how did you not know?
01:59Yeah.
02:00I feel you with that one. It's time for the public to play this game and realise how hard it is.
02:04What was your instant thought when you saw the twist, Mina?
02:07Can I be honest?
02:08Yeah.
02:09I was fuming, because that screams Mina energy down to a tee. I want to be in the red cloak.
02:15And we were saying as well, that they're going to be so anxious, because even for them, it's not a comfortable, safe situation.
02:21Yeah.
02:22They've not got the support of at least two other traitors when they get to the round table.
02:25Yeah.
02:26They're by themselves.
02:27Yeah.
02:28So everybody's going to be feeling anxious now.
02:29You know, before it was like, the traitors have got the upper hand.
02:31Yeah.
02:32Traitors have now got to guess about the secret one, but then the secret one's going to be anxious because they're out there on their own.
02:38And obviously all the faithfuls are anxious anyway.
02:40So it's just good telling.
02:42Would you have been angry as a traitor if you found out there was a secret traitor?
02:45Oh, I'd be livid.
02:46You get there.
02:47You're like, as a traitor, you think, I want to be picked, I want to be picked.
02:50Then you get picked.
02:51And then you find out someone else is running the show.
02:53Yeah.
02:54And you're limited to who you can murder because the secret traitor ultimately gives you the options.
02:59All the power's gone.
03:00All the power's gone in the turret.
03:01So good.
03:02Hugo's not a happy boy.
03:04He is not happy.
03:05It's funny though, because they get everything they wanted.
03:07Like they've obviously, they've made it to the show, which is amazing.
03:10Yeah.
03:11They've been able to be a traitor, which they want to do.
03:12And now it's like snatched away from them.
03:14That power's gone.
03:15And I love it.
03:16I love it.
03:17I love it.
03:18I'm happy about the Hugo situation because when he said before that he was a psychopathic teddy bear.
03:21Yeah.
03:22And I was like, this is what you want to happen to a psychopathic teddy bear.
03:25Take away all the toys and they go mental.
03:28Yeah.
03:29I mean, he had it all planned, didn't he?
03:30I've got a hug in my name, but if you get too close, I'll stab you in the back.
03:33And then he became a traitor.
03:34You must have been so happy about it.
03:35And then suddenly the rugs pull.
03:37Yeah.
03:38Do we have any speculative theories so far as to who the secret traitor might be?
03:41We've only had one episode, but has anyone spotted anything?
03:44We thought Amanda would be great.
03:45Yeah.
03:46And we also all warmed to Judy.
03:49I love my mum, but I would also happily have Judy as my mum.
03:52Yeah.
03:53Love you mum.
03:54So I feel like she'd be a really good person in kind of like a motherly instinctive way.
03:59And then if she's pulling all the strings behind the scenes, although they are slightly onto her already.
04:03Yeah, this is it.
04:04Did we spot Judy's head turn at the round table?
04:07Not another head turn.
04:08There was a little bit of a Linda moment.
04:10Really?
04:11Yeah, to the word traitors.
04:12Yeah.
04:13Oh.
04:14So if Judy is the secret traitor, she's not done a great job of keeping it secret so far.
04:18I really hope the secret traitor gets far because I just think it's fun.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Like it is fun and it's like added such another layer to the game.
04:25Imagine if like Judy's the first to go and that's it.
04:27I think Jessie could be the secret traitor.
04:29Yeah.
04:30I don't know why.
04:31I think when she was speaking on the train, she just really like, I don't know, I connected with her and I thought she could be a good traitor.
04:37And she said she wanted to be a traitor.
04:39Yeah.
04:40They all seem to this year.
04:41Yeah.
04:42Everyone just wants to be conniving.
04:43It's great.
04:44But that makes it so hard to work out who the secret traitor is, right?
04:46Because there's so many discussions in the gold chats where everyone says they want to be a traitor.
04:50You're like, well, who could it be?
04:51Amanda, I thought, potentially a good secret traitor.
04:54I think a terrible secret detective because I'm watching Amanda and I'm thinking I'd know you were a copper as soon as I meet you.
05:00Yeah.
05:01Yeah, she's like central casting, like leading the bill.
05:04Yeah.
05:06I'm surprised they've not done any sort of shots of just her feet walking across the gravel.
05:10Maybe that's the walk she was getting confused with.
05:12Yeah, maybe.
05:13That's who you think Claire is.
05:15Does Claire boarding walk like a bulletproof?
05:18Yeah.
05:19They have obviously like, a couple of people mentioned Jade looked nervous and then obviously
05:25they showed Jade, but you know, you don't know whether they're just, it's a red herring.
05:30But it would make sense that you're seeing the secret traitor a lot within this episode.
05:38And she did, she did look nervous.
05:40And being there, you know, you don't look nervous because it's like a relief, really.
05:47See, I disagree.
05:48I feel like I looked nervous.
05:49Oh, did you?
05:50I was nervous.
05:51I was petrified.
05:52Oh really?
05:53In case someone was like, thought you was...
05:55I think I was just out of my depth a little bit, to be honest.
05:57Yeah.
05:58And I think, you know, you've signed yourself up for something to the unknown completely,
06:01really.
06:02Like it's, I was probably just nervous in general.
06:05You're around loads of new people.
06:07So I don't know if it's fair to say like, that nervousness is just because she's guilty.
06:13Because I was nervous as hell.
06:15But people obviously didn't pick up on that.
06:18Because obviously, even though you were nervous, people can still tell that's authentic
06:21and it's not for that reason.
06:23And I suppose that it could be like that for Jade.
06:25I think maybe people just need to get to know her a little bit more.
06:28Maybe the people that don't know her so well are the ones kind of picking up on that energy.
06:31Yeah.
06:32Whereas if they've had a few chats with her, they might know she's a bit of a nervous person anyway.
06:35Yeah.
06:36Or we could be wrong and it's her.
06:37We could, yeah.
06:38You know?
06:39Has anyone made any comments so far that you think, oh, they're a bit suspicious?
06:42They're a little bit, you're a bit on edge with them?
06:44I think James needs to be real careful.
06:46He is throwing names out left, right and centre.
06:48That pointing he was doing.
06:49Yeah.
06:50That was wild.
06:51It just, you need to be under the radar.
06:53Yeah.
06:54You do.
06:55And as much as you can get excited, especially when you feel something and you're sure it's
06:58right, just be careful with what she's saying, I think.
07:02I worry about Fiona.
07:03Yeah.
07:04Because of the mission.
07:05Mmm.
07:06I think at that early on in the game, everyone's just holding on to any little thing that happens.
07:10Yeah.
07:11And that's like the only thing that's really happened.
07:13And I just think it was an accident.
07:15Or is she the secret traitor?
07:16What if she's putting all this on?
07:18What if she's not mixing anything up at all?
07:23What if it's like Willy Wonka when he comes out of the factory and he's on a walking stick
07:27and then he does a tumble?
07:28Exactly.
07:29Exactly.
07:30Exactly.
07:31Fiona's going to start doing flips.
07:32Yeah.
07:33She's going to do flips in a red cloak.
07:35Now, we know who isn't the secret traitor because of the murder shortlist.
07:38Yes.
07:39We've got James, Nettie and Maz.
07:41Do you think there's anyone else, Jack, that we can rule out of being the secret traitor?
07:45Who's 100% faithful, essentially?
07:47It's funny because I feel like I trust Judy, but I literally want her to be the secret traitor.
07:54So my want and my actually thinking it may be a different thing.
07:58I want her to be, but I actually don't think she will be.
08:00I think she's faithful and unfortunately is just sadly on the chopping block at the moment.
08:04Now, we don't know who the secret traitor is, but neither do the traitors themselves.
08:09They were very shocked when Claudia told them.
08:11Let's remind ourselves of that.
08:12I just had to pop in because I have a small confession.
08:17Oh, no.
08:19You are not the only traitors in this castle.
08:24At the round table, I picked one other traitor.
08:29The secret traitor.
08:31Oh, my God.
08:33You still have power, but not quite as much.
08:37Hugo was gutted, wasn't he?
08:42I think they all were a bit fuming to be honest.
08:45I don't blame them.
08:46We also said it makes it even worse for the faithfuls,
08:49because if you as a faithful end up directing some attention at one of the traitors,
08:55not actually knowing if they were a traitor or not,
08:57you're immediately going to look like the secret traitor to the traitors.
09:01Because obviously the secret traitor knows who the traitors are.
09:03Yes.
09:04So if you just happen to stumble as a faithful onto the right person and say in one of the traitors,
09:08you even more than normal, maybe put more of a target on your back.
09:12Because the traitors are going to want to get rid of you, so the secret traitor is gone.
09:15So do you think the secret traitor will be looking to knock out fellow traitors at this point in the game?
09:21Yeah, I think they're already showing that.
09:23You know, when they found out who the shortlist was, they all looked a bit perturbed.
09:31They were like, why have they picked them?
09:33As if there's almost an agreement that these weren't people you needed to pick.
09:38And either that's just a fluke or the secret traitor is laying the stall out early of,
09:43I'm not on your side and I'm not going to go with people I think you want to.
09:47As much as I think the secret traitor is against them,
09:50I don't necessarily think they're going to be trying to get rid of them just yet,
09:53because there's no need. They're going to just recruit them.
09:55Do you know what I thought was interesting though, to Lucy's point?
09:58How come all three of them were annoyed at the shortlist?
10:02So surely there's something that the traitors have like cottoned on to or,
10:08you know, they would have picked three different names.
10:10So I think, a part of me thinks the secret traitor has done that
10:14to maybe like make their lives a bit harder, the actual traitors.
10:18Because all three of them were like, why have they picked these people?
10:21Well, they had a discussion.
10:22They came to a sort of vague idea of who they might want to murder themselves.
10:26And then obviously it was completely different.
10:28I don't think there was any malice from the secret traitor picking those particular names.
10:33I just think they have very different ideas at this point.
10:35Because there's so many people, aren't they?
10:37So then there's maybe a chance that at some point,
10:40the traitors start to work out who the secret traitor is.
10:44Is that what you mean? That's such a clever point,
10:47because they'll throw the heat onto them and they'll be like, whoa, that's weird.
10:51But then can only mention it at the round table because they can't murder them at night.
10:55Such a clever game.
10:57It's so clever now this is added into it.
10:59Who's part of this?
11:00It's good this show, isn't it?
11:01Yeah, it's a good show.
11:02I just can't live any more of my life in this headspace though.
11:05It's like, oh God, I've got other things to be doing.
11:09I can't be, I can't believe I've now got to work out who a secret traitor is.
11:15I've had months and months of this.
11:17I'm sorry we made you come on this, Lucy.
11:19Now I'm, can you just tell, who is it?
11:21I don't know, I've got no idea.
11:23Isn't it frustrating?
11:24It's frustrating.
11:25Yeah, it is.
11:26Mina, if this had happened on your series, how would it have altered your gameplay as a traitor?
11:31I feel like you just go into panic mode.
11:34Because like you guys said, as a traitor, that's all you want to get picked.
11:38You get picked, I'm with them on Ian, Linda, fantastic.
11:41And then Claudia tells you actually there's somebody else pulling the strings.
11:46I just think you'd have to try and keep everyone on side until you can work out who it is.
11:52Yeah.
11:53It's the only thing that you can do.
11:54And, but then you don't know who it is.
11:56So then what if you try to spread rumors about them?
11:58And they're like, okay, I think you know what you're doing.
12:01Your days are numbered.
12:02I don't know.
12:03It's so hard.
12:04I just feel like you'd be so annoyed as a traitor.
12:07I think Hugo actually said it.
12:10You want all the control as the traitor.
12:13And actually, with their show, they haven't got all the control
12:17because there's this massive thing that they don't know about.
12:19We should talk about the new cohort of non-secret traitors.
12:23The traitors that we know about.
12:25How do we think Hugo's going to be as a traitor?
12:27Mina, what do you reckon?
12:28I think the other two are going to get rid of him.
12:32Yeah.
12:33That's what I think.
12:34I quite like him, to be honest.
12:35But I feel like Rachel and Steven are synced up
12:38on how they want to play this game.
12:40And I think they'll work as a team.
12:42But I think Hugo's got the potential
12:44to potentially rub them up the wrong way.
12:46Therefore, they'll be like,
12:48you're not helping our plans to win as traitors.
12:52They already have said, haven't they?
12:54That they think if anyone doesn't stick out,
12:55it's Hugo out of the three of them.
12:57And Rachel even said she don't trust him.
12:59Yes.
13:00And I think like, if you don't trust each other.
13:03Yeah.
13:05It's not going to work.
13:06Bye bye.
13:08What do we think of Rachel as a traitor so far?
13:10Great.
13:11Good reaction faces to Storm.
13:12Yeah.
13:13Yeah.
13:14I'm enjoying watching her.
13:15I think she's going to go very, very far.
13:17I think she's a bit like you.
13:19Yeah.
13:20She's a shard from the stack.
13:21Yeah.
13:22Yeah.
13:23She seems in control, but in a very calm, measured way.
13:26And Hugo is, I think, relishing playing the part.
13:29Yes.
13:30Like calling Claudia the queen of darkness
13:32and all of this sort of stuff.
13:33He's just, he's ready for panto.
13:35Yeah.
13:36Yeah.
13:37He'd make a great dame.
13:38Yeah, he would.
13:39He's being very open about his job, being a barrister.
13:42And is that the sort of job that you would have thought,
13:44maybe try and keep that secret?
13:45Definitely.
13:46Yeah.
13:47I also think that he's going to really struggle
13:49not having all the power.
13:50Yeah.
13:51I think that he's going to, I think he's going to really,
13:52really find that hard.
13:54Because he went in there with that mindset.
13:56Yeah.
13:57And now it's flipped.
13:58I think it's flipped his whole game.
13:59Yeah.
14:00And like, I think he's going to really struggle.
14:01Because obviously, once you're a traitor,
14:04like the whole thing is people not knowing who you are.
14:06So the fact that there's someone in that group
14:08who knows is scary.
14:10Yeah.
14:11And he strikes me as someone who has quite a lot of control
14:14and power in his life anyway.
14:16It's scary that, isn't it?
14:17So that's what he's used to.
14:18Yeah.
14:19Yeah.
14:20So to suddenly not have it, I think,
14:21is going to mess him up a little bit.
14:22Yeah.
14:23Yeah.
14:24And finally, Stephen, we should talk about Stephen.
14:25Very well dressed.
14:26Best dressed man on the show.
14:27Yeah.
14:28Totally.
14:29Do we think that's going to help him as a traitor?
14:30Yes.
14:31Yes.
14:32People trust fashionable people.
14:33Yes.
14:34Yeah, look at Jonathan Ross.
14:35He stayed for ages.
14:36He wasn't fashionable.
14:37Do you not think it was his looks that kept him in?
14:39I think these lot were like,
14:40do you know what?
14:41Let's just see what he's going to wear tomorrow.
14:42Wear tomorrow.
14:43Yeah.
14:44So we're not saying he's as fashionable as Stephen,
14:46but he was quirky.
14:48I think let's see what Jonathan's wearing tomorrow
14:50is different to fashionable.
14:51Okay.
14:52I agree.
14:53There was one thing he was wearing,
14:54I thought it was alive.
14:58He sat next to me and I went,
15:00there's a skunk in it.
15:02He moved and he said,
15:03no, it's attached to my jacket.
15:06But yeah,
15:07Stephen seems very affable as well.
15:08I think people will naturally trust him.
15:10Yeah.
15:11Yeah.
15:12He seems quite like warm.
15:13Very friendly,
15:14friendly, charming.
15:15I think he's going to probably go the fullest out of the three.
15:16Any other words to describe him?
15:17Wholesome.
15:18Yep.
15:19He is wholesome.
15:20Yep.
15:21I think Pete, like you said,
15:22everyone's going to trust him.
15:23Yep.
15:24And therefore the faithful will doubt that he is a traitor,
15:27but I think Rachel trusts him
15:28and I think he's going to have Rachel's back.
15:30So they'll work well together.
15:31Yeah.
15:32Lucy, now,
15:33obviously you and the other faithful in your series
15:35struggled to catch traitors for quite a long time.
15:38Yeah.
15:39What do you think the chances are in this series
15:41of the traitors sneaking under the radar
15:43like Alan and Kat did?
15:44I don't think it's going to happen.
15:46I don't think it's going to happen with this.
15:48And I think,
15:49adding the secret traitor,
15:51I think there's going to be a bigger turnover.
15:53I think they're going to get there.
15:55Molly, if you were in there as a faithful,
15:58is there anyone that you're suspicious of at this point?
16:00You're asking the wrong person.
16:03Whoever she says, it's the opposite.
16:04Literally.
16:05Don't listen to me.
16:07Well, is there anyone in there that you'd trust
16:09and would be your best friend right until the end of the game?
16:11Oh, yeah, definitely.
16:12All three of the traitors.
16:16To be honest, at this stage, it's so early.
16:18Like, it really is.
16:20You don't know each other yet,
16:21which is the hardest thing,
16:22because, like, it's hard to know if someone's slipping up,
16:24like we talked about earlier.
16:25You don't know their personality.
16:26So, is that just them?
16:27Or is that them being guilty?
16:30I think once you kind of get to know people,
16:32you can pick up on things a lot better.
16:34Yeah.
16:35I say.
16:38Who would you write down on the first banishment?
16:42Whoever everyone else is writing down, to be honest.
16:44Would you?
16:45That Fiona thing doesn't help, does it?
16:47Like what you were saying about the small little things to go on.
16:49Maybe you'd vote Fiona.
16:50If I was a faithful, that's the only thing that I've got to go off.
16:53Yeah.
16:54That's it.
16:55You sit at the table with pretty much no idea.
16:57Nothing, yeah.
16:58You're obviously just going to take in everyone else's ideas.
17:00Yeah.
17:01And to be quite honest, you're scared yourself of looking dodgy,
17:03so you're going to literally put kind of what the group's saying.
17:06Yeah.
17:07And also, you need the group to work together to get someone out.
17:09And someone has to go, unfortunately,
17:10so it kind of makes sense if you have no idea.
17:13Obviously, if you have an inkling, then yeah, it's good to bring it up.
17:15But if you have no idea, then go with the group, I say.
17:18Yeah.
17:19So we've got a whole bunch of new players to get to know over the coming weeks.
17:23So let's discuss a few of them here.
17:24We've got a lot of people with interesting jobs this series.
17:28We've obviously got a secret barrister.
17:31Someone who is a barrister, but keeping it secret in Harriet.
17:34Yes.
17:35But we've got Hugo, who is an actual barrister.
17:37Or is he?
17:38And Hugo is being honest about being a barrister.
17:41Oh, so now you're worried that Hugo is pretending to be a barrister.
17:43He's a lollipop man.
17:45I think he's a Claire Balden impersonator.
17:49I love how this secret traitor thing has made none of you trust anything that we've seen.
17:53Like, I don't believe him.
17:54Okay, well, I think I can tell you that Hugo is genuinely a barrister.
17:58It'd be a rubbish job to choose to lie about otherwise.
18:00Yeah.
18:01Do you think that is going to draw suspicion to him?
18:03Yeah.
18:04Yeah, I think when people have got nothing, you grab onto anything.
18:07Yeah.
18:08So you think it's smarter, the thing that Harriet's doing,
18:11which is concealing being a barrister?
18:12Yeah, or like what Leanne did.
18:14I just think, do something that people see as more everyday relatable.
18:17True.
18:18I think makes sense.
18:19And if she can keep it a secret, that is.
18:21Do you know what I mean?
18:22It might slip up.
18:23And I think that's another thing she's got to think about,
18:25is you are lying in some way.
18:27And of course, we have the massive secret relationship.
18:30Judy and Roxy, a mother and daughter.
18:32Yeah.
18:33Let's remind ourselves of when Roxy revealed the secret.
18:36Oh my gosh.
18:37James is running wild saying Judy is a traitor.
18:41I don't know if she's a traitor or not.
18:43Judy seems lovely, but I'm bound to say that.
18:47Considering she's my mum.
18:49Bloody hell, well, my mind's crumbling.
18:53Keeping it secret just because I think if you come in as a pair,
18:58it's almost like an alliance.
19:00I feel super protective over her.
19:02And hearing anyone cast out on her for her actions
19:07is just generally not quite nice.
19:09So there we are.
19:10I mean, I personally think that Roxy's already doing quite a bad job
19:13of concealing the relationship.
19:15Yeah.
19:16Because there's been conversations where she is talking to Judy
19:19in such a way that only a daughter would talk to their mum.
19:21Yeah.
19:22So going, you are quite loud, aren't you?
19:23It's like, no, you're supposed to have just met.
19:25You've just met me.
19:26You've just met.
19:27You're quite a loud lady, aren't you?
19:28And I was thinking, of course, that's your mum.
19:30And also giving her tips, didn't she?
19:31In front of people.
19:32Yeah.
19:33It wasn't kind of like pulling her off to the side.
19:34Yeah.
19:35Because I know, like, Ross and Diane had little chats on the side.
19:37Like, Ross said to her at breakfast that morning, like,
19:39Mum, sort yourself out, kind of thing, didn't you?
19:41But with this, it was in front of someone and she was kind of like,
19:44maybe go round to the group, kind of giving her advice.
19:47Yeah.
19:48Why are you giving another player advice at this point?
19:50It was also with DCI Amanda.
19:52Yeah, that's true.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Because I thought, if I was Amanda, and Amanda's not the secret traitor,
19:58I was a thought, Roxy, are you the traitor?
20:00Because that's quite a weird thing to just say to someone you've met.
20:03Yeah.
20:04Like, 24 hours ago, kind of thing.
20:06Yeah, they're goners, aren't they?
20:07Yeah.
20:09Tomorrow they're going to come into breakfast
20:10and Judy's going to be cutting up Roxy's food for her.
20:14Thanks, Mum.
20:15Here comes the aeroplane.
20:18I didn't like them when they were accusing Judy,
20:21because you instantly really like her
20:23and the fact that she's got a daughter
20:25and the job she does and stuff.
20:27You feel quite protective.
20:29I mean, it would be a clever twist
20:31if someone so sweet is a secret.
20:33And also, it would be an interesting twist
20:35because she has a daughter in there.
20:37Yes.
20:38And again, like, I just think the secret traitor
20:40is just so mysterious
20:41that it being someone's mum is well on top of it.
20:43It's like, bam, bam, bam.
20:45I hope it's Judy.
20:46It would be good.
20:47I don't know.
20:48But not if they're going to get her out.
20:49No, no, no.
20:50She needs to stay till the end.
20:51Now, the other major thing that happened in this episode for me
20:54was Nettie and Ross happened to know each other outside of the game.
20:57Poor old Ross.
20:58Ross was fuming.
20:59He did not want that bomb dropped.
21:00No, he didn't.
21:01And this, I mean, this appears to be a genuine complete coincidence
21:04that they just happened to have met beforehand.
21:06It's a long time ago as well.
21:07Yeah.
21:08It's not like a recent thing.
21:09No.
21:10And Nettie's like, Nettie just runs, like,
21:12Oh my God, it's you!
21:13And Ross is like, whoa!
21:14He's like, whoa, no.
21:15Please!
21:17I'm convinced that they're actually like brother and sister
21:20or like they're married.
21:21Because, I don't know, she was just, he was like,
21:25I think he said to her, let's pretend we don't know each other.
21:28And she wasn't listening.
21:29So then she's just like, forgot that they're supposed to not know each other.
21:33And then she's done that.
21:34And now he's like, yeah, we haven't known each other.
21:36We haven't seen her in 10 years.
21:37And it's like, mm, you seen her last night.
21:39So it's just a bit like, it's just like, yes and.
21:40It's just imp.
21:41Yeah.
21:42Right, let's just do whatever.
21:43I think it is genuinely just the coincidence.
21:45Me too!
21:46And she's made the decision in that second.
21:48She's not thought about it.
21:49And she said, oh, hello.
21:51We know each other.
21:52Whereas he's obviously had that extra thought of going,
21:54this will not help us in the game.
21:55Yeah.
21:56Well, it didn't because they both had their names.
21:58He did.
21:59Did she as well?
22:00She did.
22:01Yeah.
22:02I think everyone's thinking what I'm thinking.
22:03Is there more to this than what they're saying?
22:05Mm hmm.
22:06Second guessing everything.
22:07Yeah.
22:08I do think if people come to believe Nettie,
22:10then I feel like that that was genuine.
22:13Yeah.
22:14Then maybe they'll believe that she's a faithful
22:16because clearly she's not someone who's playing any kind of game
22:18or like a poker situation and has just gone, oh yeah.
22:21And then maybe afterwards they'll be like, oh, I shouldn't have said that.
22:23Yeah.
22:24Yeah.
22:25But it's therefore trustworthy.
22:26Yeah.
22:27Yeah.
22:28Well, it was a jam packed episode,
22:29but we can't move on until we've talked about the massive first mission,
22:33the coffins in the lake.
22:35But it wasn't as simple as it seemed
22:37because true traitors fashion, there was an extra layer of savagery.
22:40Whoever had a coffin with the gold symbol put into their grave,
22:45that meant that they were up for murder.
22:47Everyone who didn't have the coffin put in technically had a shield at that point.
22:50Pretty brutal.
22:51How do we think tactics played into this?
22:54One of the groups said that they were just going for the first names that they saw,
22:59which I think this early on in the game, that's probably what you're best doing.
23:03When you start to put people's names down for basically murder,
23:08it's kind of like you're saying they're a traitor or you don't trust them or,
23:12and then that's going to cause people to think, well, why did you pick my name?
23:15I'd be upset.
23:16If I was a faithful and my name was one of those 10 names, I'd be really upset.
23:20Particularly if it was anything other than just at random.
23:22Yeah, yeah.
23:23Whereas if it's random, then you're like, fair enough, it's the first name, whatever.
23:26Because they were all claiming random, weren't they?
23:28They were like, just put it in the closest one.
23:29Well, the other team weren't.
23:30So there was a little bit…
23:31That one team said that they had two people that they thought were maybe traitors,
23:36therefore don't bother wasting it on that.
23:39And then that's poor old Fiona's downfall when she got the wrong end of the ore.
23:43But I'd also be upset if that was me and they'd just taken away my opportunity to have a shield.
23:48I'd be like…
23:49Agreed.
23:50Yeah.
23:51You're going to remember that as well, aren't you?
23:53It's so difficult to know whether you should put the coffin in if you suspect someone of being a traitor
23:57or you should absolutely not put the coffin in.
23:59And even if you do think those things, nobody wants to stick their neck out so early on.
24:04Yeah.
24:05I think doing the first thing you see is the easiest thing to do,
24:08because there's very little gameplay.
24:09I think I'm just at the back of the coffin, I'm holding onto it.
24:11I'm saying nothing.
24:12Totally nothing.
24:13Keeping quiet.
24:14Yeah, yeah.
24:15Okay, where do you want me to put it?
24:16Yeah.
24:17With the new twist of The Secret Traitor, Molly, what do you think people should be looking out for on the missions,
24:22in terms of suspicions?
24:23The missions are going to be a good time for the traitors to look for The Secret Traitor, I guess.
24:29But…
24:30Anyone who's just wearing a bit of red, maybe?
24:32A red cloak would do it, wouldn't it, really?
24:34Yeah.
24:35That would help, I think.
24:36Would help me, first of all that.
24:38I think the only person in there who would, I think, have red trousers would be Hugo,
24:41and we know he's a traitor already.
24:43I think the thing that people could pick up on about The Secret Traitor, if they're a traitor,
24:49is kind of anyone trying to maybe throw them under the bus and kind of give clues,
24:53especially when it gets a bit deeper into the game and they need to find a traitor.
24:57Because it does get to that point where the Faithfuls need to find a traitor because someone needs to go.
25:02Yeah.
25:03So I think when it gets to that point and they're doing missions, or even just day to day,
25:07seeing who's trying to, like, throw you under the bus maybe might be a good way to pick them out.
25:11And obviously, we're narrowing it down now with, like, who they can murder and things like that.
25:16But yeah, maybe something like that could help them.
25:19So who do we think is going to be the first murdered player?
25:22Obviously, the traitors are working from the shortlist of James, Nettie and Maz.
25:27So it's going to be one of those three.
25:29Oh, not Maz. No, not Maz.
25:31Maz is a sweetheart, isn't he?
25:32Oh, he is.
25:33But I don't think it'll be James because I think he's been too vocal so far.
25:37Yeah.
25:38Therefore, the traitors could do with keeping him in because he's going to be one of the hot suspects.
25:41So I feel like maybe Nettie considering the connection to Ross.
25:46But then do you not think there's suspicion on Nettie because of that connection?
25:50Right, so then Maz.
25:51I fear that it's going to be Maz.
25:53And I don't want it to be.
25:54He needs to practice his cobra mark.
25:56Yeah.
25:58He wasn't quite there with it.
26:00Yeah.
26:01And he's not going to have time.
26:02No.
26:03Yeah, I think because James has been throwing out accusations.
26:06Yeah.
26:07So the traitors would be silly to get rid of him because he will get himself banished.
26:10Yeah.
26:11That's what I think.
26:12Nettie is potentially looking shifty with the Ross connection.
26:16And then that leaves Maz.
26:17But I don't want Maz to go.
26:19And I'll be devastated if it is him.
26:21Isn't it funny how you instantly, like, some people are just, you know, not that they're not all kind,
26:26but some people just radiate a really kind face.
26:29There's a lot of very warm players this time.
26:32Yeah.
26:33I think Maz and Ross as well just really come through the screen.
26:37Yeah, definitely.
26:38I sort of love them already.
26:39Yeah.
26:40When Maz said he had five kids, we all went, oh.
26:41Yeah, we did.
26:42Nice guys finished last, they say.
26:45Oh, no.
26:46I hope not.
26:47Well, we've run out of time here, but if you can't get enough, the chat will continue on BBC Sounds.
26:52We're going to discuss what jobs and life experience make for the best traitors and faithful.
26:57Plus, I'll be getting predictions from Lucy, Mina, Molly and Jack on whether they think the traitors or the faithful are going to win this series.
27:04It's all in the bonus episode of Uncloaked in your BBC Sounds app right now.
27:08Find that in your app store or you can scan the QR code on screen.
27:12We'll be back again after episode two of The Traitors and this time on BBC One for the rest of the series.
27:18We'll have the first murdered player and if anyone's banished, they'll be here too.
27:22Plus some special guests including Joe Mahler to unpack everything from the first few days at the castle.
27:28A massive thanks to Lucy, Mina, Molly and Jack for joining me and thanks to you for watching as well.
27:33I'm Ed Gamble, stay faithful.
