00:00The session's court today declined to hear an oral application made on Naima Khalid's behalf
00:05seeking a gag order to restrain Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
00:09from making statements about her and her family while her corruption case is ongoing.
00:15Judge Azura Awi instead directed lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan, representing Naima,
00:20widow of former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin,
00:23to file a formal motion if she intends to pursue the matter.
00:26Deputy Public Prosecutor Fatli Zamri objected to the application
00:31and told the court that the prosecution had not received prior notice.
00:35Azura then fixed the matter for further case management on March 6.
00:40In January 2024, Naima claimed trial to a charge under Section 36, Subsection 2
00:45of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009
00:49for failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice issued to her by the MACC.
00:55If convicted, she faces a maximum prison sentence of five years
00:59and a fine not exceeding RM100,000.
